YS Jagan signs the new GO of Ticket Pricing

0

The big news is finally here. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy signed the new revised GO of ticket pricing today and the new GO is expected to be out tomorrow. This would be a huge relief for all the summer biggies that are made on huge budgets. The distributors in AP suffered and tasted huge losses after the ticket prices are slashed down badly in AP. Movies like Akhanda and Pushpa witnessed a huge dent to the final collections because of the restrictions imposed.

After facing a lot of criticism and soon after the celebrities meeting YS Jagan, the AP government decided to revise the GO. Even the AP High Court asked the AP government to cancel the GO. A committee was formed and the report was submitted to the government. We can hear the big news in a day or two. Prabhas’ Radhe Shyam may be the first film to take the advantage in AP again.

Jagan to pay more to those who gave land to YSR for Polavaram

1

AP Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday made some mouth-watering offer to the people who have given lands for Polavaram project when his father late Dr Rajasekhar Reddy was the chief minister.

It was late Dr Rajasekhar Reddy who actually started the Polavaram Project work, including land acquisition and digging of right and left canals. The right canal brings Godavari water to Krishna while the left canal takes the water to Visakhapatnam.

It was on the right canal, which was completed by 80 per cent, that TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu started the Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Porject during his term between 2014 and 2019. The project became national project with the bifurcation of the state in 2014, with the Central government providing 100 per cent fund.

On his visit to the project site along with Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekawat, Jagan Mohan Reddy announced an additional payment of Rs 3.5 lakh per acre as compensation to those who have given their lands on the call given by late Dr Rajasekhar Reddy. The state government had paid Rs 1.5 lakh per acre in 2006, when the project was launched. Now, they would get this Rs 3.5 lakh as additional amount.

Jagan Mohan Reddy also announced another Rs 3 lakh per each displaced family as compensation, in addition to Rs 6.8 lakh being paid by the Central government for this national project. This money is in addition to the infrastructure to be provided at the rehabilitation colonies.

Governor questions Jagan on new districts and controversies!

0

Andhra Pradesh governor Biswabhusan Harichandan reportedly questioned Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy about the creation of new districts in a hasty manner and the controversies surrounding new districts.

CM YS Jagan rushed to Raj Bhavan on Monday along with his wife Bharathi. The CM discussed with the governor for over half an hour.

The meeting was primarily focussed on new districts. The governor reportedly raised several queries on creation of new districts, changing the boundaries of districts and ongoing agitations in several parts of AP against creation of certain districts against the wishes of locals by merging their areas in new districts.

Jagan reportedly clarified all the doubts raised by the governor and assured him that the government is considering all the objections raised by locals and creating new districts only after convincing them.

Jagan told governor that there was no objection for majority of the new districts except in Nellore and Nellore issue too will be sorted out through consultations.

Jagan told governor that his government will complete creation of new districts by Ugadi in April and this will ensure balanced and inclusive growth of all regions in the state.

Andhra Pradesh: Empty coffers, huge debts

1

Andhra Pradesh is facing a grave financial crisis with empty coffers and huge debts.

While the crisis has its genesis in the state’s bifurcation, the problems were compounded by the Centre not honouring its commitments and the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government failing to mount pressure on the BJP-led government at the Centre. The Covid-19 pandemic only added to the financial woes, analysts say.

The state is not only struggling to pay salaries and pensions, the empty coffers have also hit some schemes and the work on infrastructure projects.

Andhra Pradesh is one of the most indebted states in the country. According to a recent report of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the state’s outstanding debts stand at Rs 3.98 lakh crore. Its debt to GSDP ratio stands at 37.6 per cent, the fourth highest among the states.

According to the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) statistics last year, Andhra Pradesh had a debt burden of Rs 3.37 lakh crore. It also revealed that during 2020-21, the state borrowed Rs 9,226 crore an average per month, mainly to pay the salaries, pensions and foot the freebies bill. The same trend is believed to have continued during 2021-22.

Andhra Pradesh’s debt burden at the time of bifurcation in 2014 was Rs 97,000 crore. In five years till March 2019, it jumped to nearly Rs 2.59 lakh crore. The YSRCP government, which came to power in May 2019, borrowed another Rs 1.40 lakh crore from banks and other sources. The situation has reached a stage where there are fears that the state may require to raise loans even for debt servicing.

For 2021-22, the government had targeted to borrow Rs 50,525 crore but the borrowing exceeded the target. For debt servicing alone, the government earmarked Rs 23,205 crore in the 2021-22 budget.

The ruling YSRCP and main opposition TDP are engaged in a blame game over the financial crunch. While the YSRCP says it inherited a bad financial situation from the TDP, the latter alleges that the Jagan Mohan Reddy government is indulging in financial irregularities, budget violations and fiscal indiscipline.

The TDP has even demanded that the state government constitute a fiscal council with experts as its members to monitor the revenue and expenditure of the state.

Senior TDP leader and former state finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu recalled that financial expert N K Singh, who was on the review committee of the Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (FRBM) Act, had recommended formation of the fiscal council to bring financial discipline among the states.

The fiscal council would scrutinise the implementation of the budget manual and control the public expenditure on a regular basis.

Ramakrishnudu argues that if the fiscal council is formed, the Jagan Mohan Reddy government would not be able to take massive loans by violating the FRBM norms.

Finance minister Bugganna Rajendranath rejected the demand for a fiscal council saying that the Union government itself has made it clear in Parliament that there is no need for a fiscal council, when there is CAG, Finance Commission and statistical institutions.

The government claims that despite the financial constraints and the Covid-19 impact on the economy, the state was doing well. It pointed out that during 2020-21 the GSDP registered a growth of 1.58 per cent, which is higher than the previous year’s negative growth of the national GDP at -3.80 per cent. The per capita income of the state also increased to Rs 1.70 lakh per annum in 2020-21 as against Rs 1.68 lakh in 2019-20.

For 2021-22, the state presented an annual budget of Rs 2.29 lakh crore. The revenue deficit was estimated at Rs 5,000 crore while the fiscal deficit was estimated to be Rs 37,029 crore, which is one of the highest in the country.

The government earmarked a whopping Rs 48,083 crore for 22 freebie schemes.

The TDP alleges that revenue deficit and debts had increased manifold in the past three years. “The double digit growth rate of 10.22 per cent under the TDP rule came down to -2.58 per cent. This was enough to show the extent of the financial crisis caused till now,” said Ramakrishnudu.

Finance minister Rajendranath, however, questioned how the opposition can compare a Covid pandemic affected fiscal with a normal one. He pointed out that due to the Covid pandemic, the state lost its own revenues to the tune of Rs 8,000 crore in the 2020-21 financial year. “At the same time, the state has spent an additional Rs 7,120 crore for Covid control. Notwithstanding the difficulties, the state is implementing the budget as per the FRBM rules,” he said recently.

Blaming the previous TDP regime for the present economic crisis being faced by the state, he said the TDP has no moral grounds to point fingers at the YSRCP government. “If not for the burden of unpaid bills and additional loans taken and unscrupulous tender processes, today’s situation would not have been there,” he said.

The former chief secretary of Andhra Pradesh and BJP leader IYR Krishna Rao blamed the YSRCP government’s welfare schemes for what he calls one of the worst financial positions ever. He alleged that the government is draining all of its revenues for the schemes.

Calling the populist schemes of YSRCP unviable, Krishna Rao is of the view that the Election Commission should introduce a rule wherein a party should show its state’s income to prove that it would be able to fulfil its promises when it comes to power.

Economist Papa Rao pointed out that the state’s financial problems arose out of bifurcation. “After bifurcation, the state suffered financial injustice. Since it was a revenue deficit state, the central government made many commitments in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act 2014 to bridge the deficit. From funds for Polavaram to a steel factory in Kadapa and from special category status to a package for the backward areas, several commitments were made but none of them has been fulfilled,” he said.

He believes that the YSRCP government is clueless about how to overcome the crisis and it is making mistakes while trying to mobilize resources to implement various welfare schemes.

According to him, the Jagan Mohan Reddy government despite winning a massive mandate in 2019 failed to mount pressure on the Centre to fulfil its commitments.

“People gave 151 seats to YSRCP in the 175-member Assembly and with this support it should have sincerely fought with the Centre but it appears it has compromised due to its own compulsions,” he said referring to the pending cases against Jagan Mohan Reddy and the heat being turned on him by the Chandrababu Naidu-led TDP.

Jagan strengthened Tollywood in Telangana with Bheemla Nayak: TRS strong feeling

0

The TRS government in Telangana is said to be jubilant at the way Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy is crushing Tollywooed in AP.

The TRS government reportedly is of the strong feeling that Jagan has strengthened Tollywood in Telangana with his ‘over enthusiasm’ towards Pawan Kalyan’s Bheemla Nayak, which released on Friday to packed houses everywhere.

Jagan government received backlash from all not just in the Telugu States but entire country and even abroad for his ‘meaningless restrictions’ imposed on Pawan’s movie in AP. He deployed entire government machinery at cinema theatres to crackdown on Pawan’s move who job was to ensure that theatres do not run additional show or benefit show or sell tickets for higher prices.

Police personnel, staff and officials of revenue, panchayat raj, municipal departments have discharged their duties in front of cinema theatres on Friday to implement Jagan’s orders.

The visuals of police and other government staff doing duties at cinema theatres have become a butt of jokes on social media platforms. People shamed Jagan government through memes asking what government mahcinery is doing at theatres instead of serving people in need in government offices.

The TRS government was a little bit concerned when Jagan recently invited top actors, directors, producers like Chiranjeevi, Mahesh Babu, Prabhas, Rajamouli etc to his Tadepalli residence recently and offered them lands for studios and house sites. The TRS government was concerned that the Tollywood would expand to AP also in addition to Telangana.

But Jagan’s hasty moves to target Pawan politically using films brought bad image to AP and TRS government is now confident that no one will dare to expand their activities in AP irrespective of what Jagan offers and they will just confine Tollywood to Hyderabad and Telangana. It is fully confident that Jagan has indeed helped to strengthen Tollywood further in Telangana with his wrong moves.

Sawang takes charge as APPSC chairman

1

Damodar Gautam Sawang took over as the chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) on Thursday.

He was last week shunted out as Director General of Police (DGP).

After taking charge as the APPSC chairman, Sawang called on Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The Indian Police Service (IPS) officer was appointed on the new post on February 18, three days after he was removed as the police chief.

Governor of Andhra Pradesh made the appointment under Articles 316 (1) and 316 (2) of the Constitution of India.

Sawang succeeded incharge chairman A V Ramana Reddy who was holding the post after the exit of former chairman Uday Bhaskar.

Sawang will hold the post of APPSC chairman for a period of six years. However, as per the APPSC’s regulations, he will be deemed retired from IPS.

Sawang’s new appointment is being seen by many as an honourable exit along with extension of service as the 1986-batch IPS officer is due to retire in July next year.

The Andhra Pradesh government on February 15 shunted out Sawang as DGP and appointed Kasireddy V. R. N. Reddy as the new police chief.

KVRN Reddy, Director General of Police (Intelligence) was placed in full additional charge of the post of DGP (head of police force) until further orders.

Sawang’s transfer came nearly two weeks after government employees held a huge protest in Vijayawada despite police denying permission and imposing restrictions in the city. Thousands of employees from across the state managed to reach the city for ‘Chalo Vijayawada’ on February 3. This was seen as a big failure by the police.

Jagan Mohan Reddy had reportedly taken serious note of the incident. The next day he had called DGP and sought an explanation from him.

After assuming office as the chief minister in May 2019, Jagan Mohan Reddy had picked Gautam Sawang as the police chief.

Sawang, a 1986-batch IPS officer, had succeeded R. P. Thakur, who was transferred and posted as Commissioner, Printing and Stationery and Stores Purchase.

Before Telangana was carved out of Andhra Pradesh, Sawang worked in various positions including Superintendent of Police (SP) and Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) of Maoist-hit Warangal district.

In 2015, he became the Commissioner of Police in Vijayawada and three years later, he was appointed as Andhra Pradesh’s DG, Vigilance and Enforcement.

During 2009-12, he served as a Commissioner for UN Police in Liberia.

Why did Roja seek an appointment with YS Jagan Mohan Reddy?

0

The hottest topic of discussion in the YSRCP circles is firebrand MLA from Nagari RK Roja seeking an appointment with Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Roja sought an appointment with YS Jagan on Wednesday and if sources are to be believed, the meeting would be a stormy one.

Why did she seek an appointment with Jagan and what would she be discussing with the CM, this is the hot topic of debate! Many feel that Roja is likely to press for a ministerial post for herself. Roja, a two-time MLA from Nagari, sees herself as a strong contender for the ministerial post. Her firebrand ways and her strong defence of the party and its programmes both within and outside the house, are a great asset to the party.

But she has been facing problems from within the party. Egged on by a strong minister from Chittoor, the dissidents have been giving her sleepless nights. The dissidents have tried to target her in the name of sand mining, MPP elections and other issues. Even Jagan’s birthday became a subject of dispute in Nagari with Roja’s opponents holding separate celebrations. Roja is unhappy that several of her political rivals in the party were given plum posts, weakening her position in the party and the constituency.

Sources also say that she could also press for the inclusion of Nagari assembly constituency in Sri Balaji district instead of Chittoor district. Whatever be the reason, her appointment with YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is now the hot topic of debate in the YSRCP, especially those from Chitttoor district.

Pawan challenges Jagan govt with huge rally in Narasapuram!

0

Jana Sena chief and actor Pawan Kalyan held a massive show of strength at Narasapuram in West Godavari district on Sunday (today).

Pawan held a huge rally in support of fishermen community (Gangaputras) and in protest against anti-fishermen policies of YSRCP government in Andhra Pradesh.

For the first time, Pawan strongly took up ‘caste specific issue’ to muster the support of fishermen community for Jana Sena. His strategy worked well as thousands of Gangaputra community people gave a rousing reception to Pawan Kalyan all through his yatra route from Rajamahendravaram to Narasapuram.

Pawan lashed out at Jagan government for troubling and harassing fishermen community with GO 217 issued in September 2021 which impacts the livelihood of fishermen. Pawan said CM Jagan brought this ‘Black GO” due to which fishermen community lost their traditional rights on fishing in canals, lakes, rivers, sea. Pawan assured them that he will scrap this GO soon after Jana Sena comes to power in 2024 Assembly polls.

Pawan has set the GO copies on fire as a token of protest and dared Jagan to book cases against him for burning GO copies.

Pawan called upon people to violate the laws and GOs brought by Jagan government which adversely affect them. Pawan said he is ready to go to jail for the cause of fishermen community.

AP govt’s realty biz buzz: 90 per cent hike in stamp duty in Sree Balaji district

1

The AP government, it appears, wants to fully exploit the real estate boom caused by the proposal to carve out new districts. It is planning to hike the registration fees and the stamp duty in three mandals of Tirupati by an exorbitantly high 90 per cent. The market value revision committee has accepted the proposed hike. With this the stamp duty in a total of 38 villages in the Tirupati urban madal is all set to be hiked.

The proposals for the hike in the stamp duty have been kept at the sub-registrar offices, mandal offices in Tirupati Urban, Rural and Renigunta mandal. The details have also been uploaded on the website of the registration department. The department will accept suggestions and objections from the people on Monday.

For instance, the land rates in Karakambabi residential area have sky-rocketed. Till recently, the per sq yard cost of the land was Rs 8800. But, how it has gone up to Rs 15000. In the commercial area of Karakambadi, the rates have gone up from Rs 11600 to Rs 25000. In Surappaasam area, the per sq yard rates of land have been increased to Rs 10000. Jagan’s pressure works, Praveen and Sawang accept new posts

0

Finally AP Chief Minister has managed to persuade both the top officials of AP administration -former DGP Gowtham Sawang and former principal secretary in CMO – Pravee Prakash – to fall in line. While the DGP was asked to take up the new assignment as the chief of the APPSC, Praveen Prakash was made to relinquish his post in the CM’s peshi.

Both the officials were removed as Jagan was not satisfied with their performance. Both were considered loyal to Jagan, but of late, both fell out of favour with the CM. The CM was unhappy with Sawang over the failure of the police to prevent the rally of the government employees in Vijayawada. Sawang was asked to report to the GAD department without any post.

However, to avoid negative publicity, Jagan offered him the APPSC chairperson’s post. Sawang was said to be in two minds as to whether to accept the offer or not. But, Jagan’s emissaries finally convinced him by invoking the ‘deemed to have retired provision in the rule book to accept the APPSC chief’s post. Now,Sawang will be able to get all the retirement benefits and at the same enjoy the new post for another three years.

Praveen Prakash, who was transferred to the AP Bhavan in Delhi as a resident commissioner, wanted to hold the post in CM’s peshi too. But, the government pressured him to accept the transfer. Praveen Prakash’s wife Bhavna Saxena is now part of the Central Government.

Will YSRCP become Congress with creation of new districts?

0

YSRCP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s recent decision to create new districts in AP from Ugadi in April this year continues to generate protests across the state. Not just Opposition parties, even the own YSRCP leaders in few districts are opposing the new districts raising objections over selecting district headquarters for a few districts and also including few Assembly constituencies in new districts.

YSRCP leaders and cadre in a few districts are holding protest rallies demanding changes in district headquarters and also changes in the jurisdiction of the new districts.

They are openly issuing statements that YSRCP will pay a heavy price if Jagan government did not rectify follies in the creation of new districts.

Senior YSRCP leader and former minister Anam Ramanarayan Reddy went a step ahead and reminded CM Jagan of the plight of Congress in AP after bifurcation of AP in 2014.

Ramanarayan Reddy said Congress vanished from AP due to faulty bifurcation of state done by Congress government at the Centre in 2014. He also reminded how Telangana and AP are fighting for water at Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar after bifurcation.

Similarly, he said water wars will erupt in Nellore district for Somasila project water due to inclusion of Kandukuru in Nellore district.

He cautioned Jagan to take adequate steps to ensure that YSRCP do not face Congress situation with the creation of new districts.

CBI probe exposes YSRCP leaders in Vivekananda Reddy murder case: TDP chief

0

TDP national President and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has alleged that the Jagan Mohan Reddy government was badly exposed following what he called shocking revelations in the CBI probe in the Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy murder case.

Naidu claimed that it was clearly established that YSRCP MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy was the first person to visit the murder spot and to tamper with the evidence. Though facts were revealed about the YSRCP leaders’ involvement, CM’s Advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy was wrongly saying that the CBI was targetting the victims.

The TDP chief said the ruling YSRCP leaders were expecting all sections of the people to blindly believe like sheep in whatever they would say and do. “How could Sajjala say that the YSRCP leaders were the victims in the Viveka murder? It was because of his daughter’s court petition that the CBI probed and cracked the Viveka murder mystery,” he said.

Naidu blamed the present YSRCP leaders for the brutal killing of Paritala Ravindra and the subsequent elimination of witnesses in that murder case. They also tried to kill their party MP Raghu Rama Raju but the courts saved him. The YSRCP rule was more horrifying than that of terrorists and demons. Jagan Reddy was aiming to perpetrate his misrule forever through a reign of terror.

Chandrababu Naidu recalled how DGP Gautham Sawang was unceremoniously removed after misusing his services for harassing political opponents. The DGP said in the beginning there was no ganja trade in the city but he himself ordered burning of Rs 1,500 crore of ganja. It was after the TDP exposed the CM’s ‘use and throw’ mindset that the transferred DGP was now reportedly given posting in the APPSC.

The TDP chief said that their party strongly protested against the appointment of tainted jailor Varuna Reddy at Kadapa Central Prison. Just like the witnesses in the Paritala Ravi murder, they hatched conspiracies to kill witnesses in the Viveka murder. Following the TDP’s objections, Varuna Reddy was transferred out of Kadapa.

Naidu said in the murder case of his own uncle, Jagan Reddy first petitioned the court for a CBI probe but later withdrew his petition saying there was no need for that. The YSRCP leaders first reported the Viveka death as a natural death due to heart attack but were forced to change their story.

Chandrababu Naidu deplored that the Jagan regime targetted and tried to suppress the employees just like he was suppressing political opponents. When the NGOs and teachers’ Chalo Vijayawada became a success, the CM became angry and sent Sawang home. The TDP would not support what Sawang did in the past but his humiliation was yet another testimony to the absence of rule of law in Andhra Pradesh, he added.

YS Jagan’s style: One action… two messages… one for KCR… another for Chandrababu

0

At a time when the regional parties like the TRS, Trinamool Congress and the DMK are trying to float a front to wage a relentless battle against Narendra Modi and his government, YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has shown his clear support to the BJP government. He used the occasion of the launch of the 51 infra projects in the state to profess his love for the BJP government at the Centre.

This is being seen as a clear move to state his position on the issue of the third front. In the programme, Jagan openly said that the Central Government was fully cooperating and was helping the state. He expressed gratitude to the Central government for its efforts in the development of the state. By this expression of open admiration for the Modi government, Jagan has shown where he stands on the issue of KCR’s non-BJP front.

This is also being seen as a move to corner the opposition TDP. By openly praising and backing the BJP-led government at the Centre, Jagan has tried to pour cold water on the TDP plans to get closer to the BJP ahead of the 2024 elections. The bonhomie between BJP minister Nitin Gadkari and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was all too visible.

Thus besides, BJP ruled Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh is solidly behind the Modi government, while Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Telangana are ranged against them. The YSRCP’s support matters as the state has 25 MP seats. The party has 22 MPs in Lok Sabha and six in Rajya Sabha. The number in Rajya Sabha is likely to go up to nine soon.

Jagan, ministers likely to shift to Vizag after Ugadi?

0

Remember what YS Jagan told the film industry biggies? He told them that Vizag has the potential to become the growth engine for the whole of Andhra Pradesh. He told them that everyone should chip in and help Vizag develop in Andhra Pradesh. If one observes this, one would realise the importance that Jagan is according to Vizag city.

In fact, he told the film industry representatives that if one makes an effort for ten to 15 years, Vizag would grow into a major city in the country. Will YS Jagan stay behind in Tadepalli when he himself is asking everyone to focus on Vizag? If sources are to be believed, he is all set to move lock, stock and barrel to Vizag any time after Ugadi.

Highly placed sources said that YS Jagan has decided on a particular muhurtam, which is being kept a secret. Meanwhile, Jagan is also planning to table the three-capitals bill in the assembly. This time, he wants to ensure that there are no legal loopholes. Once this is done, Jagan is all set to shift to Vizag. Many of his ministers are also likely to follow suit.

If sources are to be believed, the officials have already inspected three buildings that could be used as the camp offices of the chief minister. He would chose one of these three buildings. Several ministers are also planning to move to Vizag, according to sources.

Here’s a lowdown on Jagan and his run-ins with bureaucrats

0

AP CM YS Jagan will go down as someone who cannot get along with the bureaucrats. The latest incident in which Gowtham Sawang, adjudged the best DGP in the country, was unceremoniously shunted out, has only highlighted his incompatibility with the top honchos of AP bureaucracy. In fact, Sawang is the latest in the long list of IAS officers who had their run-ins with Jagan.

Here’s a list of IAS officers, who fell out of Jagan’s favour and had to face his wrath. While some bureaucrats fought every inch of the way, some were simply shunted out.

AB Venkateswara Rao: This IPS officer was a thorn in YS Jagan’s flesh. He defied Jagan’s attempts to throw him out. He took to legal recourse and thwarted Jagan’s plans to have a free run. A helpless Jagan had to literally wait for him to superannuate.

Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar: Ramesh Kumar, who was the state election commissioner, has used his autonomous status and powers to fight every inch of the way. He was quite firm and exercised the authority conferred on him as the SEC and thwarted Jagan on several issues. He fought legal battles with Jagan and kept him at bay till he retired.

LV Subramanyam: This Chief Secretary was considered Jagan’s staunchest supporter. He was known to be upright and conscientious. But he was pro-Jagan to a fault. But even he was unceremoniously removed from the post and relegated to some inconsequential post. He bided his time till his retirement and has faded from public memory.

KV Ramachandra Murthy: Though not an IAS officer, Murthy was a respected journalist, who had famously served in several prestigious media houses, including Jagan’s Sakshi. He was later appointed the government’s media advisor. But, after working for several months, he simply sent in his resignation letter. His complaint was that he was unable to meet YS Jagan despite several efforts.

Gowtham Sawang: The DGP was shunted out of his position and does not know what his next assignment is. If sources are to be believed, he could be sent to the Central services. The handling of the government employees and the mishandling of YS Jagan’s security during the latter’s recent visit to Vizag are said to be the immediate reasons for his ouster.

Ajeya Kallam: This retired official, known for his deep knowledge of the administration and agriculture, was taken in as the advisor to the government. But he is totally silent these days. His term is all set to end and is highly unlikely to get an extension.

Has BJP given a stick to Jagan to beat it?

0

Has the BJP inadvertently given the potent weapon of special status to the ruling YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh? Has Modi brought back the dead issue and breathed life into it? Will the YSRCP make this a powerful election issue to attack the TDP in Andhra Pradesh and use it in the elections in 2024?

It appears that Jagan is all set to use the same weapon of special status that helped him come to power in the 2019 elections in 2024 too. While it is quite early and there are two more years to go, the YSRCP is likely to whip up sentiments and make it an election issue. The YSRCP is said to be drawing up a long plan to sustain the issue and bring it to the top of the agenda.

In the run-up to the 2019 elections, Jagan conducted a sustained campaign by touring every district and holding conclaves involving intellectuals, students and youth. These conclaves have made even a seasoned politician like Chandrababu go jittery and walk out of the alliance with the BJP and the Jana Sena.

Sources say Jagan is planning to fully utilize the change in the agenda of the three-member committee and blame it on the TDP. In the initial note, special status was mentioned as an agenda point and by evening, it was removed. The YSRCP has already begun saying that the pro-TDP lobby in the BjP was instrumental in changing the agenda points. The TDP is not in a position to press for special status as it has floundered in 2019. Insiders say Jagan and the YSRCP will fully utilize the gaffe of the BJP and the goof-up of the TDP to his own advantage.

Now, KCR’s media attacks Jagan!

0

After TRS president and Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP-led government at the Centre, the KCR’s own media has started attacking YSRCP president and Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy.

KCR’s own media Namasthe Telangana and T-News publishing and telecasting negative news reports on Jagan on the issue of power sector reforms.

KCR’s media carried out reports stating that while KCR fought with Modi and refused to implement power sector reforms and even prepared to lose Rs 5,000 crore additional loans from Centre every year for five years by refusing to install meters to agriculture pumpsets, Jagan surrendered to Modi and installed meters to agriculture pumpsets and secured additional loans.

KCR’s media said while KCR did not compromise on the free power to farmers, Jagan compromised with AP farmers for the sake of securing additional loans of nearly Rs 12,500 crore in five years by installing meters and burdening farmers with power bills.

KCR’s media said TS farmers are happy with TRS government while AP farmers are cursing Jagan and YSRCP government for installing meters.

It remains to be seen how YSRCP leaders or Jagan’s own media react to KCR’s own media reports against Jagan.
