Will write to Centre too for vaccines, if needed: Andhra CM

0

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday instructed officials to write to the Central government in event of any shortage of Covid vaccines, and that he will also chip in with a letter, if needed.

Lauding state health officials for administering a record 6.28 lakh vaccine doses on Wednesday, he asked them to continue the same vigour in the coming days.

Reddy also instructed officials to give wide publicity to 104 services, including ensuring hospital beds and treatment, as well as for any coronavirus-related queries. People calling 104 to request a coronavirus test should be directed to their respective primary health centre, sub centre or village clinic, he said.

“Ambulance services should be provided and the treatment should be expedited with the help of ASHA workers… Health of the people in home isolation should be followed up,” he said.

Reddy directed officials to allot the 1902 number to receive grievances.

The Chief Minister also told officials not to compromise on tests, treatment, medicines, sanitation and quality of food in hospitals to ensure that patients do not suffer.

Officials are also asked to fix the cost of treatment in private hospitals and ensure that they do not overcharge patients.

“Fee and charges for treatment should be displayed at hospitals and the details on whom to complain if the hospitals charge more should be displayed in the hospitals… the cost of medicines, tablets and injections should also be displayed,” he said, calling for strict action against profiteering hospitals.

Stressing that there should be no scarcity of coronavirus beds, he told officials to maintain records of availability of beds in Arogyasri empanelled hospitals and private hospitals.

The Chief Minister said 6 lakh vaccine doses should be administered every day for some more days to complete the stipulated targets.

Tollywood planning a key meeting with YS Jagan

4

Telugu film industry is left in deep shock after the government of Andhra Pradesh issued a new GO about the ticket prices. The exhibitors made sure that it is not possible to run the screens with these prices and it is better to shut the screens instead of staring at huge losses. Some of the exhibitors went ahead and closed the theatres in B and C centres as it is impossible to recover the daily expenses and the electricity charges. The distributors of all the districts of Andhra Pradesh collected the feedback and passed it over to the producers and celebrities of Telugu cinema.

A crucial meeting will take place this week and most of the Tollywood celebrities will meet to discuss about the further move. A group of producers and actors are keen to meet Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy and discuss about the GO. They are keen to request YS Jagan to amend or revise the ticket prices so that the exhibition industry will survive. There are talks that the celebrities sought the appointment of YS Jagan next week. Before this, two crucial meetings are planned. Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Dil Raju, NV Prasad, Suresh Babu and others are expected to attend the meeting with YS Jagan.

Andhra Guv, CM pay tributes to Ambedkar on birth anniversary

0

Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan and Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy paid tributes to B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution of India, on this birth anniversary.

“I offer my humble tributes to Bharat Ratna Baba Saheb B.R. Ambedkar, father of the Indian Constitution on his birth anniversary. Ambedkar was an eminent jurist, economist, politician and social reformer,” said Harichandan on Tuesday.

He reminded that Ambedkar was a great freedom fighter who waged a continuous struggle for modern India, free of differences on the basis of caste, creed and religion to ensure equal rights for women and weaker sections of the society.

“Ambedkar dedicated his entire life to protect the rights of the poor and downtrodden people. Ambedkar is remembered for his contribution to making of the modern India and for his efforts to curb social discrimination against Dalits,” he observed.

Likewise, Reddy highlighted that Ambedkar laid the path for the development of modern India, striving for the equality of everyone.

“He delivered the strongest and greatest Constitution to India,” noted Reddy.

Hailing Ambedkar, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu said that Ambedkar stood up to caste-based discrimination.

“It is very unfortunate that even now some people oppress Dalits with their caste arrogance,” added Naidu.

Ambedkar was born on April 14, 1891 and he breathed his last on December 6, 1956.

Abuse of power: Volunteers distributing Jagan’s letters to voters in Tirupati

4

When Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy appointed thousands of village and ward volunteers soon after YSRCP government came to power, it was believed that it would provide employment to thousands of unemployed youth as well help people to access government schemes and services at their doorsteps.

But the Jagan government is using volunteers for its political interests at the cost of public money.

Volunteers are now openly campaigning for YSRCP for the upcoming Tirupati Lok Sabha bypoll on April 17 which amounts to gross abuse of power by the state government.

Volunteers are visiting every household and distributing open letters written by Jagan on the welfare schemes and development programmes undertaken by YSRCP government during the past two years and seeking votes.

The ministers, YSRCP MLAs, MLCs, MPs and other local leaders are holding meetings with volunteers against the norms and assigning them various tasks to secure votes for YSRCP.

The mobile phones of volunteers are being seized before these meetings to ensure that they don’t record any audios or videos of these meetings and ‘leak’ to others which may invite action from the Election Commission and criticism from the Opposition parties. The phones are handed over to them after the meetings.

Each volunteer has been given a task to secure majority votes in their jurisdiction in favour of YSRCP and are being warned that they may lose their jobs if they fail to get votes for YSRCP.

Andhra’s Tika Utsav target hits wall on depleted stocks

Despite grand plans to vaccinate six lakh people per day, during the Tika Utsav which began on Sunday, Andhra Pradesh has had to settle for just one lakh vaccinations – its entire stock in hand. The depleted vaccine stocks have forced the officials to postpone the campaign in some districts, and organise it on a lower scale in other districts.

Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had announced that the state would be vaccinating six lakh persons per day, during the four day Tika Utsav campaign called by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The chief minister had also written to the centre, requesting 25 lakh doses of covid vaccine, in this regard.

But with the central government yet to respond to the state’s request, the stocks have dropped abysmally. As a result, the Utsav had to be postponed till the arrival of fresh stocks in Anantapur district. District authorities said that vaccination would commence on a war footing in the district, as soon as fresh stocks arrive.

The situation is not very different in most of the other districts which are grappling with low stocks and growing demand. State officials said that East and West Godavari, Nellore, Prakasam, Visakhapatnam, and other districts are using the available stocks to vaccinate people in urban areas. In some other districts, the authorities are using the limited stocks for vaccination in both, urban rural areas.

With no sign of fresh stocks arriving soon, and Covid cases on the rise with every passing day, authorities are a concerned lot in Andhra Pradesh.

Andhra CM to partake in Sita Rama Kalyanam on April 26

0

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will attend the Sita Rama Kalyanam (divine wedding) at Vontimitta in Kadapa district on April 26.

“Chief Minister of AP Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will be taking part in the celestial Kalyanam (wedding) for the first time on April 26,” said a Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) official on Friday.

However, the number of devotees allowed to participate in the event is restricted to 5,000, considering the raging second wave of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Rising infections is also one of the reasons why the event is being held at Vontimitta, under the auspices of TTD and Kadapa district administration, following the national Covid guidelines, said TTD executive officer K.S. Jawahar Reddy.

Jawahar Reddy inspected the premises of the kalyana vedika along with the district collector and superintendent of police.

The executive officer appealed to the local devotees to adhere to Coronavirus guidelines and cooperate with TTD and the district administration for the successful conduct of the mega religious event.

“SVBC will be telecasting the live event of celestial marriage which commences at 8 p.m. onwards for the benefit of global devotees. The procedure for issuance of passes will be discussed with the district management later,” said Jawahar Reddy.

Meanwhile, Bhashyakarla utsavam (fete) commenced at Tirumala on Friday, which will last for 19 days and conclude on April 27.

As part of the fete on Friday evening, after Sahasra Deepalankara Seva, Bhashyakarlavaru was also accompanied by the deities in the procession around four mada streets.

Meanwhile, Jawahar Reddy directed officials to set up a centralized procurement cell for purchasing medical equipment and medicines for BIRRD, SVIMS and central hospitals run by TTD.

He instructed officials to establish help desks and reception cells, along with electronic displays boards at BIRRD to transform it into a patient friendly unit.

“New rooms built for in-patients should be commissioned and the artificial limbs unit should be strengthened by completing the purchase of new equipment,” said the senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, among others.

Jagan cancels Tirupati election meeting on April 14 citing corona

YSRCP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy has cancelled his public meeting in Tirupati to be held on April 14 to campaign for Lok Sabha by-poll.

Jagan on Saturday (today) announced that he has decided to cancel the April 14 meeting due to increasing corona cases in Chittoor and Nellore districts.

Jagan has written an open letter to Tirupathi voters in this regard.

He said he took the decision to cancel his Tirupati meeting after seeing today’s corona bulleting of the state.

Jagan said 11 people had died in AP due to corona in the last 24 hours as per this bulletin and of them, four belong to Chittoor and Nellore districts.

He said Chittoor and Nellore districts are witnessing the highest corona positive cases adding that 292 cases were reported in the Nellore district on a single day.

Jagan stated that if he holds a public meeting at this stage thousands of people will attend the meeting and there is a danger of coronavirus spreading faster.

Jagan reminded voters that he had recently written a public letter explaining the welfare and development programmes of the YSRCP government over the past two years and requested Tirupati voters to recognise the YSRCP government’s efforts and elect YSRCP candidate in Lok Sabha by-poll on April 17.

Jagan more worried about AP economy: 2nd wave

3

AP Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy is usually cool even in the face of unexpected challenges. He took bold steps on shifting Capital City regardless of the huge loss to the State economy. He went for reverse tendering on Polavaram despite knowing difficulties to get the Central funds. His Government did not care when YCP leaders harassed solar power projects and Kia Motors. All these factors led to near zero investments by large multi-nationals.

Such a confident Chief Minister is now worrying about the second wave of Coronavirus and its possible impact on the AP finances. Already, the State suffered a loss of Rs. 21,000 Cr in the first wave. The special Central funds and huge donations could not even help to tackle the health crisis properly at that time.
Reduced State revenue has made the Jagan Reddy Government to look for loans even for payment of salaries. Even the payments of pensions to the retired employees were being delayed. As AP was taking more loans, the Modi regime has imposed a ceiling on its borrowings.

Amid this, CM Jagan is asking AP health officials to be alert and take all preventive measures possible. Another lockdown would cripple the State. Doubtless to say, if neglected, the second wave is expected not just to cause huge human loss but it will destroy economies and people’s incomes severely.

Jagan writes letters to reach out to Tirupati voters

0

The Opposition leaders have stepped up their campaign in the Tirupati by-election. TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and Nara Lokesh took a direct plunge into the campaign. TDP candidate Panabaka Lakshmi, BJP candidate Ratna Prabha and others have been vigorously campaigning in nook and corner of the constituency. YCP nominee Dr Gurumurthy is matching with the profiles of Panabaka who is a former Union Minister and Ratna Prabha, who is a former Chief Secretary.

Ministers are campaigning on behalf of their party candidates. But still, there is some gap with Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy not starting his campaign early. He is expected to take part in a public meeting towards the end of the election campaign on April 14.

In order to bridge the cap, the Chief Minister has written letters to each and every family in the Tirupati parliamentary constituency. He has explained in the letters how his Government has implemented the welfare schemes and cash promises with determination.

CM Jagan did not make any political comments or election related statements in his letters. He has scrupulously avoided making comparisons to the previous Government also. He simply urged the voters to vote for fan symbol and elect his party nominee.

KCR’s “PRC pressure” on Jagan

0

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao recently announced 30% fitment (salary hike on basic pay) for state government employees as part of implement new PRC (pay revision commission) recommendations in Telangana.

The new PRC came into force in Telangana from April 1, 2021.

Telangana employees will draw higher salaries than Andhra employees from this month.

With this, AP employees associations are bringing pressure on AP CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy to implement new PRC in AP along the lines of Telangana PRC.

However, the AP government’s financial condition has become worse under Jagan’s rule.

It is not able to pay even salaries for staff in time. Normally, the state government employees receive salaries on the last working day of the month. But under Jagan’s rule, they are getting salaries by the 10th of the subsequent month.

In this situation, if Jagan implements 30% PRC for employees like Telangana, the AP government has to bear nearly Rs 10,000 crore additional burden every year.

Jagan government is struggling to pay even the existing salaries.

Despite this, Jagan’s ministers are making false promises to employees that Jagan will soon announce PRC higher than Telangana.

RRR petition against Jagan bail rejected?

4

A lot of political heat was already generated over YCP rebel MP Raghu Rama Raju’s complaint in the court seeking cancellation of bail to AP Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy. But, reports have started coming in that RRR’s complaint was rejected by the court because of lack of merit in the petition.

Rajugaru immediately issued statements clarifying what happened. He said that his petition was not rejected by the court. It was only that the hearing was not taken up for technical reasons. The court has asked for the certified copy of the bail granted by the CBI-ED court in Hyderabad.

The rebel MP said that he had already submitted an application for getting the certified copy of the bail given to Jagan Reddy. Once the copy was made available, the same would be submitted for taking forward the case.

Rajugaru said that once again, the petition would be filed in the court with fresh details. It will come up for hearing next week. However, the YCP leaders say that it was a fact that the RRR petition was rejected technically or otherwise. All the talk of RRR petition for CM bail cancellation has ended in a farce. Litigation politics reached a peak amidst the Tirupati poll fight.

Tirupati priests call on Andhra CM after reinstatement

2

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) chief priest A. V. Ramana Deekshitulu and other priests called on Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday, following their reinstatement.

The priests presented Lord Venkateswara Swamy’s prasadam (consecrated food) to Reddy and thanked him for reinstating 15 hereditary priests associated with the temples under the TTD.

The priests are associated with the Tirumala Venkateswara Swamy temple, Tirupati Govindaraja Swamy temple and Thiruchanur Sri Padmavathi Ammavari temple.

The reinstatements come as a consequence of Andhra Pradesh High Court judgment in December 2018, acting on the writ petitions filed by the priests after the TTD board retired all priests above 65 years of age.

Many senior priests were forcibly retired back in May 2018 during the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) rule.

Though the Court ordered immediate reinstatement, it did not happen.

Before coming to power, Reddy promised that he would reinstate the fired priests which happened now.

Jagan tactic to win sympathy in Tirupati bypoll

13

Since the days of YSR, their family has been known for making enemies of all others and gaining sympathy from their followers and general public. YSR played the same card while in the Congress. He was branded a perpetual dissident till he became the Chief Minister by projecting himself as the sole saviour of the Congress against the TDP and its friendly media.

Now, YSR son Jaganmohan Reddy is using the same sympathy card with greater smartness. Political circles are by now clear that the unsigned letter from Vijayamma is the handiwork of the Jagan Reddy Advisors. In the letter, they have tried to play the victim card as before. She has blamed the TDP, Chandrababu Naidu, Eenadu-ETV, Andhra Jyothi-ABN, TV5, Pawan Kalyan and such others for targetting their family.

In the process of attacking the rivals, Vijayamma has conveniently ignored the fact that even her slain brother-in-law Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter Sunitha was raising doubts against the Jagan regime. Whoever is behind Sunitha Reddy’s Delhi press conference, the TDP, the BJP and Pawan Kalyan have made the Viveka murder a big issue in the Tirupati bypoll.

CM Jagan has smartly brought to the fore the letter politics in the name of his mother. This is obviously to generate sympathy among the voters. Time will tell whether these tactics will work for Jagan ever after the people saw two years of his rule.

Andhra CM, Guv hail Jagjivan Ram’s legacy on birth anniversary

0

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy hailed the legacy of Babu Jagjivan Ram on Monday, which is his 113th birth anniversary.

“Tributes to Babu Jagjivan Ram, a freedom fighter and reformist on his 113th birth anniversary. We cannot forget his efforts to bring financial equality to the poor and downtrodden,” said Reddy.

Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan said Ram’s contribution to the nation’s politics and development will always be remembered.

“I offer my humble tributes to Babu Jagjivan Ram on his birth anniversary. Babu Jagjivan Ram was an illustrious freedom fighter and a visionary leader,” said Harichandan.

According to the Governor, Ram was an able administrator who rendered impeccable services to the country.

Calling him a true democrat, Harichandan said he fought to uplift the poor, downtrodden and weaker sections of the society.

He said Ram served the country as a cabinet minister for 35 years, holding several key portfolios and noted that Ram introduced path breaking reforms such as the green revolution in the country.

Similarly, at Sareen Nagar Park in Kurnool town, local leaders garlanded Ram’s statue and paid tributes.

Kurnool collector Veerpandian cut a cake as part of Ram’s memorial.

Deekshitulu wishes God’s blessings for Jagan

0

Ramana Deekshitulu has become the chief priest of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) once again. He waited for over 2 years for this opportunity. At one time, he lost patience and passed some serious comments against the Jagan Reddy regime. Now, amid the Tirupati bypoll, the TTD revived his post.

As such, it is the payback season for all. Deekshitulu has immediately come before the people and began signing all praise of CM Jagan Reddy. He has wished for the God’s blessings to the Chief Minister and to protect his rule. When dharma is harmed, the God will appear among the people to set it right. The CM has made sure that dharma would be re-established in the TTD and the archakas would forever be indebted to him.

Deekshitulu further said that he prayed to the God of Seven Hills for an uninterrupted continuation of the Jagan Reddy regime for all its good deeds.

The TTD decision to bring back Ramana Deekshitulu and other archakas has undoubtedly been aimed at having a positive impact in the byelection. Rep[orts say the YCP is forced to do this in the face of the BJP making rapid inroads to split the pro-YCP vote back among the Hindus.

Jagan rule struggling to pay employees salaries

Yet again, the YCP Government could not pay salaries in the first four days of April month. The last three days are holidays, which is why the employees are not greatly worried about the delay. What is their major concern now is the rumour that the Government may not be able to pay the salaries for another few days. There are also concerns that much more delay would be caused in the payments to pensioners.

Normally, even if there are holidays in the first few days of the month, the Government must not have any problem to pay salaries on some working day immediately available. It is because the salary disbursement process begins on the 25th of the preceding month itself. Rumours doing rounds in the employees circles are that the Jagan regime is under more pressure than expected to meet the expenditure on the direct cash benefit programmes.

There are over 5 lakh Government employees and 3.5 pensioners. For their salaries, the Government may need not less than Rs. 5,000 Cr. Besides this, over 20 months arrears have to be paid to the pensioners.

Doubtless to say, the declined revenue and exorbitantly higher expenditure on welfare are creating increasingly difficult situations for the Government to pay salaries in time. The crisis is expected to become deeper in the coming months.

Internal family rivalries checkmated CM Jagan: RK

1

Slain leader YS Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter Sunitha Reddy has stepped up her struggle for justice ahead of the Tirupati byelection. She has visited Delhi and raised suspicions against YCP MP YS Avinash Reddy and his father Bhasker Reddy. Her action is being seen as a bold step on her part to openly oppose CM Jagan Reddy. Sunitha Reddy is stated to have got indirect support from CM’s sister Sharmila Reddy too.

Raising these points in his latest Weekend Comment, ABN Radha Krishna indicates that CM Jagan Reddy is now facing an unusual threat and insecurity from growing rivalries within his family and relatives. The family is getting vertically divided on the Viveka murder issue. Majority relatives have expressed sympathies to Sunitha Reddy. Sharmila Reddy is also giving problems in her own way. Now, Sunitha has gone a step further and levelled open allegations against the YCP MP.

Sunitha Reddy and her relatives firmly believe that her father became a victim of political greed of YS Avinash Reddy and his father Bhasker Reddy. She brought pressure on Jagan Reddy who did not do anything in over 2 years. This has increased doubts and suspicions. Many within the family and relatives are demanding answers. Even YS Vijayamma is unhappy.

Amid this, there is an increasing threat to Sunitha’s life. If anything happens to her, the CM will be held totally responsible. All these issues are putting heavy pressure on Jagan Reddy. These days, unprecedented security is being provided whenever he comes out of Tadepalli. Though the CM appeared giving the toughest time ever to political rivals, he is now facing a tight situation from within his family relatives.

Jagan govt ‘realised’ its mistake on Franklin Templeton in Vizag!

12

After obstructing the world-renowned Fortune-500 company Franklin Templeton from setting up operations in Vizag for two years, the YSRCP government in Andhra Pradesh seems to have realised its mistake.

Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy is now sending letters to Franklin Templeton inviting the company to launch operations in Vizag and also offering land for the purpose.

The previous TDP government headed by CM N Chadrababu Naidu worked day and night to bring Franklin Templeton to Vizag.

In 2017, the TDP government allotted 40 acres and other incentives following which the company agreed to set up operations in 2018.

But after TDP lost power and Jagan became CM, the problems began for Franklin Templeton.

The Jagan government alleged scam in land allotment and allotted 40 acres of Franklin Templeton to other company.

But after two years, Jagan realised that there was no scam in land allotment.

He directed industries department to invite Franklin Templeton to Vizag.

Industries department officials have written to Franklin Templeton offering 25 acres in Vizag to set up operations.

It remains to be seen how the company will respond to this invite now.

Why is Jagan giving most credit for volunteers?

CM Jaganmohan Reddy takes a lot of pride and interest in the system of village and ward volunteers. They are all appointed by his Government. Their service conditions are not known well but they are drawing salaries of Rs. 5,000 each. Over 2.22 lakh volunteers have been appointed all over the State. There is no increase in their salaries. CM has said that the volunteers jobs are voluntary in nature and hence no need for special benefits.

However, the Government is preparing to give huge cash benefits of Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 10,000. This Ugadi, it is going to be a celebration time for volunteers spread over different assembly segments. Doubtless to say, they have become the strong support system for the YCP leaders more than the Government departments.

There are many employees to take care of people’s needs in the local self-government. From the village revenue officers and assistants to revenue inspectors, many of them render services. Still, the Jagan regime is giving most of the credit for the volunteers. Intriguingly, each of the 2.22 lakh volunteers is having complete details of the households in their respective localities. They know who is actually residing locally and who is not by their fingertips.

As such, volunteers’ role has emerged more important than even sarpanch in the context of the YCP style politics. Undoubtedly, the Jagan regime is relying more on volunteers than anybody else to continue its saga of power in AP.

Jagan’s “Amma Vodi” dilemma: Free cash or laptop?

2

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy is in dilemma over the implementation of “Jagananna Amma Vodi” scheme this year.

Amma Vodi is the flagship scheme of YS Jagan’s government which is part of his “navaratnalu” schemes.

Under Amma Vodi scheme, the AP government is providing financial assistance of Rs 15,000 per year to nearly 43 lakh mothers or guardians to send their children to school till Class 12th. The cash is directly credited in the bank accounts of beneficiaries.

The scheme was launched in the last academic year 2020-21.

However, in the new academic year 2021-22, Jagan is in a dilemma whether to give cash or give free laptops in lieu of cash.

Jagan has decided to seek the opinion of mothers on this issue.

But officials are worried that giving laptops wil put more burden on state government.

A laptop costs in the range of Rs 25,000 to Rs 27,000 in the market.

Even if government places order in bulk, it can negotiate the price to around Rs 20,000.

Despite this, it will be an additional burden of Rs 5,000 for each beneficiary.

Last year, the government incurred over Rs 6,000 crore expenditure to disburse Rs 15,000 cash to each beneficiary.

This will increase further if laptops are given.
