AP speaker’s desperate attempts to project son as next MLA candidate

1

AP Assembly speaker Tammineni Sitaram is moving heaven and earth to project his son Chiranjeevi Nag as the next MLA candidate from Amadalavalasa constituency in Srikakulam district. He is said to be training his sons in the nitty-gritty of politics. He has already given key responsibilities to Chiranjeevi Nag in the constituency.

Tammineni entered politics in 1983 and became an MLC on TDP ticket. He had won from the same constituency for four consecutive times. From 2004, he suffered a lean patch in politics. He lost consecutively and changed parties. Finally, he could re-enter the assembly only in 2019 as a YSRCP candidate. He tried to become a minister, but Jagan asked him to take the responsibility of running the legislative assembly as the speaker.

Sources say that Chiranjeevi Nag played a key role in Tammineni’s victory. Later he also worked hard for the YSRCP victory in the panchayat and the local body elections. Later, he and his father went and met YS Jagan, who blessed Chiranjeevi Nag and asked him to strengthen the party further in the district.

Tammineni is also trying to convert this into a Velama vs Kalinga battle. Amadalavalasa is a Kalinga stronghold. Killi Kruparani, a senior Kalinga politician has won from here several times. Similarly Boddepudi Rajagopala Naidu from the Kalingas has won as an MP several times. Now, both Velamas and Kalingas are trying to grab Amadalavalasa. Let’s wait and see how politics in Amadalavalasa take turns and twists in the coming days.

Is Botsa getting ready for life beyond ministership?

0

Is senior YSRCP leader and minister Botsa Satyanarayana preparing for a life beyond ministry and position of powers? His recent interview to a YouTube channel gives ample indications that he is feeling insecure and unnerved. He has also talked about himself as a lion regardless of whether he is in the Congress or the YSRCP.

In the interview, Botsa said that his power does not diminish regardless of the party he is in. He said he would behave the same way in both the Congress and the YSRcP. He also slammed those who say that his power is now reduced. He dared them to prove that he is less powerful now.

He said that he is always popular and added that he would continue to serve the people regardless of the party he is in. He said people from across the state come to him seeking help. He has also pooh-poohed the reports that he is no longer the numero uno in North Andhra.

Of late, Botsa is said to be feeling insecure in view of the upcoming cabinet reshuffle. The buzz is that he would be sent to Rajya Sabha and thus his importance would be reduced. Botsa has been sending signals that he would want to continue in the state politics. He is also scoffed at the reports that he would be sent to the Rajya Sabha and would be asked to focus on national politics.

He is also trying to send signals that all is well in his family. There is a buzz in the social media that his nephew Chinna Srinu has rebelled against him. Similarly, there are also reports that some elements in the party are putting spokes in his attempts to project his son as his political heir. He said he is still the king of North Andhra and would continue to be one.

AP becomes bankrupt: YSRCP admits in Parliament

0

The ruling YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh has finally admitted in the Parliament that AP has become bankrupt and is not in a position even to pay salaries for state government employees.

The YSRCP government in Andhra Pradesh led by Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy which so far claimed that the AP’s financial condition is not that bad as being projected media and also opposition TDP, on Thursday (today) claimed that the financial condition is bad and it is struggling even to pay salaries.

Speaking in the Lok Sabha, YSRCP MP Bharat requested Centre to come to the rescue of Andhra Pradesh government saying it is not in a position to pay even salaries.

YSRCP MPs raised the bad financial condition of AP government during Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha.

The TDP MPs in Lok Sabha utilised this opportunity to expose the bad financial condition of AP under YSRCP regime.

TDP MPs K.Rammohan Naidu and K.Ravindra Kumar said they have been requesting the Centre to intervene to check the financial mismanagement of YSRCP government since May 2019 which pushed AP into a debt trap.

TDP MPs said that YSRCP has denied any financial crisis all these years but admitted on its own in the Parliament now that AP has become bankrupt.

Have BJP top bosses clipped Somu Veerraju’s wings?

0

Has the process of clean-up begun in the AP BJP? Has the party’s national leadership decided to clip the wings of AP BJP president Somu Veerraju and sideline all those who are pally with the ruling YSRCP? Those in the know of the goings on in the AP BJP answer in the affirmative.

The newly appointed core committee for AP is being seen as an indication of the party national leadership’s decision to clip the wings of the state president. Several members of his close coterie are removed and leaders who are asking for closer cooperation with the TDP are in. The names of the likes of Vishnuvardhan Reddy, who are known to be quite close to the YSRCP, have been removed.

Instead, the names of former state chief Kanna Lakshminarayana, former minister Purandeswari, MPs Sujana Chowdary, TG Venkatesh, CM Rajesh and GVL Narasimha Rao, RSS appointee Madhukar and MLC Madhav have been included in the core committee. This is being seen as a definite TDP-wards shift of the BJP. Sources say that this decision was taken after Amit Shah’s recent visit to AP. He was reportedly given a report where the question of marginalising those who came from the TDP was highlighted.

Since then, Amit Shah reportedly directed Somu Veerraju to give adequate importance even to those who came from the TDP. He was reportedly asked to take along everyone. The core committee would now keep a check on the unnecessary overtures to the YSRCP. Sources say that there would be some positive change in the BJP in the coming days.

Jagan’s next CS choice: Srilakshmi or Neerab?

1

The present Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh Sameer Sharma is due for retirement on November 30.

The extension for Sameer Sharma looks unlikely as the Centre has not received any request from the Andhra Pradesh government seeking extension.

Even if CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy seeks extension, the Centre is unlikely to grant any extension as Modi government at the Centre has reportedly taken a policy decision not to give extension to IAS officers to continue as Chief Secretaries in any state.

There is a buzz in bureaucratic circles that Jagan has already shortlisted the names of Y.Srilakshimi and Neerab Kumar Prasad for next CS post and is likely to pick one on November 30.

Speculations are rife that Jagan wants to pick Srilakshmi as next CS.

This is because Jagan already gave ‘double promotions’ to Srilakshmi who is facing CBI cases in Obulapuram illegal mining case along with him and Gali Janardhan Reddy. Srilakshmi already faced imprisonment in Cherlapally jail for several months in this case and came out on bail.

Srilakshmi is a Telangana cadre IAS officer. But Jagan took her into AP cadre in December 2020 after he became CM.

Srilakshmi was secretary-level IAS officer. But Jagan promoted her as ‘principal secretary’ in January 2021 and against promoted as ‘special chief secretary’ in March 2020. Within three months, Jagan gave two promotions to Srilakshmi.

Normally, a special chief secretary-level officer will be appointed as CS. Speculations are rife that Jagan promoted Srilakshmi as special chief secretary with an aim to make her chief secretary of AP.

Neerab Kumar Prasad is also special chief secretary-level officer and is currently working as CCLA (chief commissioner of land administration) in revenue department.

The position of CCLA is next to CS. Going by this, Neerab should get CS post.

But whether Jagan opts for Neerab or Srilakshmi, who is working as special chief secretary in municipal administration department at present, as CS, will be known in the next one or two days.

No more ‘dramas’ please, voters tell this MLA

1

Chodavaram MLA Karanam Dharmasri is one-of-a-kind MLA. He is one rare MLA whose first love is theatre. He never leaves an opportunity to perform on stage. But is he taking this too seriously and turning out to be a political performer out to please the boss? Is he using his dialogue delivery to use alliterative texts and comments to win the heart of the Chief Minister so that he ends up as a minister in Jagan’s cabinet?

The other day, the whole house had the ROFL moment when he used alliterative prose to praise YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. He even asked the members to clap for his witty one-liners. His praise of Jagan turned out to be an embarrassment for Jagan himself. Interestingly, within his constituency, there was more criticism of these comments rather than praise.

His critics are slamming him saying that the MLA is more interested in ministerial positions rather than solving the problems facing the constituency. The bad roads, the problems of sub-plan tribal villages, pending arrears of the Govada cooperative sugar factory are staring the MLA in his face. Instead of solving them, the MLA is busy praising Jagan in the hope of getting a ministry.

The locals of his constituency want Karanam Dharmasri to focus more on developing the constituency and on addressing the problems of the people rather than blatant sycophancy to woo YS Jagan. Many say that if the same trend continues, the day would not be far off when he would be rejected in the elections.

Punished for saying “Namaskaram”!!!!

1

Is such an innocuous thing as folding hands in a namaskaram going to prove costly for Chandragiri MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy? Chevireddy detractors, who were waiting for an opportunity, pounced on him for doing a namaskaram to YSRCP’s “arch enemy” Chandrababu Naidu. The pro-YSRCP trolls seem to have a field day reviling Chevireddy.

During the recent floods, MLA Chevireddy was very active in preventing tank breaches and in providing relief material. He managed to get food grains and other essential items and carried them on his shoulders to supply them to the flood hit people. When the Rayalacheruvu was filled to the brim and threatened to maroon nearby villages, he was there to prevent breaches to the river. The pics and videos of Chevireddy involved in the relief works have gone viral.

While chevireddy was involved in the works at the Rayala Cheruvu, TDP boss Chandrababu Naidu came to the same spot to take stock of the situation. On seeing Chandrababu, who was much elder to Chevireddy, the latter folded his hands and greeted him. Several YSRCP leaders in Chittoor and Nellore, who could not match Chevireddy’s activist, lapped this clip up and tagged it to the YSRCP biggies.

It is reliably learnt that the YSRCP biggies have made enquiries about Chevireddy doing a namaskaram to Chandrababu. While Chevireddy’s acolytes are arguing that this was in consonance with the tradition of greeting the elders, many are not convinced. Now this conventional Namaskaram is giving sleepless nights to Chevireddy.

Road to BJP-YSRCP relations passes through this road

0

The BJP may have tacit understanding with the ruling YSRCP on several things. But, there is one issue where both the BJP and the YSRCP are at loggerheads. Both the parties are fighting over the alignment of a road sanctioned by the Central Government. Both the parties are trying to undercut one another.

The Central Government has recently sanctioned a new road linking National Highway No 16 in Ravulapalem of East Godavari with the Highway No 226 in Amalapuram. The AP BJP wants this road to be laid via Mandapalli and Kothapeta. AP BJP chief Somu Veerraju has even submitted a memorandum with this demand to the Union Minister for Surface Transport. But the YSRCP wants this road to be build via Palivela.

Interestingly, both the distances are the same. But the issue is about land acquisition. The BJP wants it via Mandapalli because, according to it, there would be no problem with the land acquisition. It says the YSRCP’s proposal entails large amount of land acquisition and therefore lengthy litigation.

With both the parties fighting over the route map, the whole work has been stalled at present. The local YSRCP leaders are completely opposed to the BJP proposal.. The matter was further complicated when BJP National Chief JP Nadda recently tweeted in favour of the local BJP leaders. Thus, a road that connects has turned out to be a road that ‘divides.’

YSRCP, TRS proved again they are BJP-friendly?

0

The ruling parties in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have proved yet again that they are ‘friendly parties’ of BJP-led government at the Centre.

The Centre on Friday (today) celebrated Constitution Day in the Central Hall in Parliament, which was attended by President Ramnath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi etc.

As many as 14 opposition parties including Congress, Shivsena, RJD, TMC, DMK, BSP, SP, etc skipped the function to protest against the ‘unconstitutional functioning’ of Modi government.

However, the YSRCP and TRS MPs have attended the function.

Although Jagan and KCR are maintaining friendly relations with BJP ever since they became CMs, Telangana CM KCR has recently launched a tirade against BJP over paddy procurement issue.

But Jagan continues to maintain silence on BJP.

KCR even staged a dharna last week at Indira Park against BJP government at the Centre for refusing to procure paddy from Telagnana.

But when all non-BJP parties have become united against BJP and Modi at the national-level, the TRS and YSRCP simply distanced themselves from anti-BJP, anti-Modi camp and attended the function.

KCR even alleged that Modi’s government is violating all constitutional norms and wielding power on states but when the occasion came to express his protest on Constitution Day, he simply avoided and asked his MPs to attend the meeting.

BKU leader Rakesh Tikait who visited Hyderabad on Thursday to take part in dharna at Indira Park alleged that TRS is B-team of BJP and KCR always supports BJP and Modi and don’t believe KCR’s criticism on Modi.

Tikait said KCR says something and does something.

Seems KCR has proved this correct again on Friday.

Minister’s post remains out of reach for this senior politician

1

Will senior leader from Telangana Gutta Sukhender Reddy’s dream of becoming a minister remain a pipe-dream? Will his plan to retire from active politics after enjoying a ministerial stint end up in smoke? It now appears almost certain that he would be asked to officiate as the chairperson of the legislative council one more time. So, a place in the cabinet is now a distant dream for Gutta.

Gutta has a long and illustrious career in politics. He began as the chairperson of Nalgonda dairy and then became an MP. He hopped parties, but retained his MP post. He joined the TRS in the hope of becoming a minister. But, he was made the chairperson of the council. Now that he has been re-elected to the legislative council, he is likely to be made the chairperson once again.

Though Gutta is yearning for a ministerial position and is moving heaven and earth to become a minister, luck seems to be not favouring him. KCR feels that Gutta is best suited for the council’s chairperson’s post. Now, both the chairperson and the deputy chairperson’s posts are vacant and Gutta is all set to become the chairperson again.

There are also reports that there would be no immediate cabinet rejig. This only means that waiting for a minister’s post could actually leave Gutta without any post of power. So, he may have to accept KCR’s offer and become the chairperson of the council. Given the fact that this could be his last stint in the electoral politics due to advancing age , Gutta may have to remain content with the chairperson’s post.

Home District Shock for Jagan: 13 Kadapa sarpanches resign from YSRCP

0

In what is being seen as a major shock to AP Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, several of the sarpanches from his home district of Kadapa have sent resignations to the ruling YSRCP. They have announced that they were leaving the ruling party in protest against the government decision to divert funds meant for the local bodies.

As many as 13 sarpanches, who till recently vowed their allegiance to the YSRCP, have issued a press statement announcing their resignation from the party. This issue has created quite a sensation in Kadapa district, which is Jagan’s home turf. The sarpanches are all from the Khajipet mandal in the district.

The sarpanches have slammed the ‘autocratic’ functioning of the state government and said that it was diverting the funds meant for the local bodies under the 14th and 15th finance commission. They said that they were ready to wage a relentless war against the government’s autocratic ways.

There are 21 panchayats in Khajipet mandal of which 13 village sarpanches met separately on November 23 and announced their resignations. They have also announced that they were boycotting the maintenance of stree lights, road repairs, sanitation works and other similar works as they were not getting requisite funds for these works.

YSRCP leaders block TDP’s Kondapalli municipal election!

0

The Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission has postponed the election of chairperson of Kondapalli municipality on Tuesday (today) after YSRCP councilors went berserk, resorted to violence in the meeting hall.

The YSRCP councilors argued that Vijayawada TDP MP Kesineni Nani is ineligible to vote in this election despite AP High Court issuing orders in Nani’s favour.

Out of 29 wards in Kondapalli municipality, both TDP and YSRCP have won 14 wards each. The remaining one was won by TDP rebel candidate who extended support to TDP later. With this TDP bagging chairman post was certain.

But YSRCP gave a twist by asking its MLA Vasantha Krishna to utilize his vote in this election as ex officio member

TDP too roped in its MP Kesineni to utilize his vote as ex officio member.

As TDP victory was certain, the YSRCP councilors obstructed election by damaging furniture in the meeting hall raising slogans against TDP.
They boycotted election and staged a walkout.

The returning officer postponed the election indefinitely.

Jagan’s latest move added to uncertainty: Opposition

0

The Opposition parties in Andhra Pradesh on Monday reacted sharply to Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government’s move to repeal two laws enacted last year to create three state capitals to come out with a comprehensive legislation saying this has only added to the uncertainty.

Leader of Opposition and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N. Chandrababu Naidu said the latest move by YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government would further harm the state which was already suffering due to its decision for trifurcation of state capital.

TDP politburo member and former union minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju alleged that Jagan government was destroying the state by adding to the instability. Reacting to the government’s decision, he said nothing good can happen to the state under YSRCP rule.

Raju claimed that the government repealed the laws as it was sure of losing the legal battle. He remarked that the Jagan government can only act to take revenge on its political rivals but cannot provide good governance.

TDP general secretary and MLC Nara Lokesh alleged that the government is playing ‘mind games’ with the people by turning the Assembly into a forum for spreading untruths and half truths.

Lokesh strongly objected to the manner in which the Jagan Reddy regime passed the latest bill in the House, withdrawing the previous 3 Capitals and CRDA Repeal Acts. Once again, the chief minister misled the people by saying that the people gave a huge mandate for his capital trifurcation plan in 2019, he said.

Nara Lokesh reminded the CM of his repeated statements at the time of elections that he constructed his house in Amaravati and that it would be the one and only Capital for Andhra Pradesh. In fact, Jagan Reddy went to the 2019 election on the plank of developing Amaravati. But now, he was twisting facts and telling lies without a sense of commitment or responsibility.

Lokesh deplored that even now, the chief minister was not leaving his adamant and arrogant stand on a contentious issue like capital shifting.

Actor politician Pawan Kalyan said that the government acted in haste to escape from the legal case in high court. He alleged that by announcing that it will bring new Bills with more clarity, the government pushed the state into further uncertainty.

Jana Sena leader said people feel that at a time when the high court was expeditiously hearing 54 cases filed against the three capital laws, the government took back the laws as it had realized that its defeat in the court was certain.

Pawan said it was unfortunate that rulers have created a situation that even after seven-and-a-half years following formation of new Andhra Pradesh, the people don’t know where the new state capital will come up.

BJP state president Somu Veerraju said the Jagan government has no vision to ensure decentralization. He alleged that during the last two years, the government did nothing for the development of Visakhapatnam or Rayalaseema region.

CPI-M state secretary P. Madhu said it was unfortunate that instead of putting an end to the row over state capital, the chief minister announced that he will bring a new comprehensive law. He felt that the state government repealed the two laws in view of the people’S sentiments and the legal cases.

Andhra legislator Karimunnisa dies of cardiac arrest

0

Mohammed Karimunnisa, a member of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council, belonging to ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) died of cardiac arrest here late on Friday night. She was 56.

According to her family members, she complained of uneasiness and was rushed to a private hospital, where she breathed her last around midnight.

They quoted doctors as saying that she suffered cardiac arrest. The YSRCP leader is survived by husband Mohammed Saleem and five sons.

Karimunnisa had some health problems and was under medication. She attended the Legislative Council session on Thursday and Friday. The legislator also met Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday.

On March 30, she was elected to the Legislative Council from MLAs quota for a six-year term. She was earlier elected as corporator to Vijayawada Corporation and was campaigning in the recent municipal elections for another term when Jagan Mohan Reddy surprisingly nominated her for Council.

Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed his shock over the sudden demise of Karimunnisa. He stated that Karimunnisa’s death is shocking as she had attended the Council session on Friday.

The Chief Minister conveyed his deep condolences to the family of the MLC. He said Karimunnisa made valuable contributions as a corporator belonging to Muslim community in Vijayawada and was elevated as MLC. He assured her family that he and his party will stand by them.

Minister versus MLA in YSRCP ahead of Kondapalli election!

0

The fissures within ruling YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh have surfaced ahead of the crucial election of chairman of Kondapalli municipality.

In the recently held elections for Kondaplli municipality for 29 wards, the ruling YSRCP and the opposition TDP have won 14 wards each.

The remaining one ward was won by TDP rebel candidate, who extended support to TDP later.

With this, TDP appeared to bag the Kondamalli chairman post.

But YSRCP Mylavaram MLA Vasantha Krishna Prasad has voting right in Kondapalli municipality as an ex-officio member. With this, the strength of YSRCP and TDP has again become a tie at 15 each.

Against this backdrop, TDP Vijayawada Lok Sabha member Kesineni Nani opted for ex-officio vote in Kondapalli municipality.

However, Kondapalli municipal commissioner Sridhar has become unavailable all of a sudden due to which Kesineni could not submit application to him seeking ex-officio vote. Sridhar is not coming to office since then reportedly under pressure from ruling YSRCP leaders.

With this, Kesineni approached AP High Court which issued orders in favour of Kesineni allowing him to exercise his vote as ex-officio member.

This resulted in TDP strength increasing to 16 and YSRCP strength at 15.

Despite this, the ruling YSRCP is doing everything to poach few TDP ward members during election of municipal chairman on November 22.

However, differences cropped up in YSRCP over the choice of candidate for municipal chairman election.

Minister Jogi Ramesh wants his brother Jogi Ramu as chairman candidate while YSRCP MLA Vasantha Krishna Prasad wants Rasool as candidate.

Both TDP and YSRCP are running camps for their ward members to prevent poaching by the other.

While TDP shifted its ward members to a camp in Vijayawada, YSRCP shifted them to Nandigama.

But the differences between minister and YSRCP MLA have become a cause of concern for the ruling party as ward members supporting MLA Vasantha Krishna Prasad are not willing to vote for Jogi Ramu as chairman.

Those who abused Chandrababu are all ministry-seekers!!

0

Why did the YSRCP leaders vie with another in attacking Chandrababu Naidu in the vilest manner possible in the assembly on Friday? What prompted them to be so belligerent? Why were they trying to outdo each other in abusing Chandrababu Naidu and his wife? The comments were undoubtedly vile and went contrary to all norms of decency, say analysts.

Sources in the know say that besides their visceral hatred for Chandrababu Naidu, the YSRCP MLAs were also trying to impress YS Jagan. The reason? YS Jagan is set to rejig his cabinet soon. This means the position of most of those in the cabinet is very shaky. Some of them could be shown the door. Hence, they tried to impress YS Jagan by brazenly attacking Chandrababu Naidu. Kodali Nani was particularly harsh on Chandrababu only to keep his ministry, say sources.

Similarly, Tenali MLA Ambati Rambabu and Kakinada MLA Dwarampudi Chandrasekhara Reddy were unabashed and vile in criticizing Chandrababu Naidu’s family. Ambati Rambabu is trying to enter into the Jagan cabinet somehow or the other. He has been making every effort to impress YS Jagan. Ditto with Dwarampudi. Despite his proximity to YS Jagan, he could not become a minister in the YSRCP government.

Nagari MLA Roja too rejoiced at Chandrababu’s discomfiture. She unabashedly released a video clip where she recalled the insults that the TDP heaped on Vijayamma, Bharathi and Sharmila and reminded how the TDP leaders distributed CDs right in the Assembly complex against her. Roja again is a strong contender for the ministerial post. Most of those who crossed all limits of decency are strong ministerial aspirants, say political watchers.

Trouble at home for Botsa Satyanarayana: Nephew turns against him?

0

Nothing seems to be going right for senior YSRCP leader Botsa Satyanarayana. His position in the cabinet is hanging by a slender thread. YS Jagan wants to send him to the Rajya Sabha so that a younger leader could take over. His attempts to bring his son into politics have not completely taken shape. As if all these were not enough, he now is facing another major threat to his leadership. The threat is not from any outsider, but from his inner coterie.

Botsa’s nephew China Srinu has always been known as his Man Friday. It was he who used to handle the constituency as Botsa focused on state politics. Even Botsa used to refer any task to Chinna Srinu. But, now Chinna Srinu is the ZP chairperson of Vizianagaram. He is slowly coming into his own. More and more MLAs in the district are now pally with him. Even Botsa’s arch rival and MLA Kolagatla Veerabhadra Swamy is moving closer to Chinna Srinu.

Both Chinna Srinu and Kolagatla paired up and grabbed the posts of mayor and deputy mayor in the Vizianagaram corporation elections. Similarly, Chinna Srinu’s camp follower Indukuri Raghu Raju was nominated for the MLC seat. Botsa is viewing all these attempts to upstage him with alarm. Similarly, Nellimarla MLA B Appala Naidu too is seen moving closely with Chinna Srinu. Together, Chinna Srinu and Naidu have sidelined Botsa’s brother Lakshmana Rao.

Botsa is reportedly upset that Chinna Srinu is being encouraged by the party’s top leadership. He is unhappy that Chinna Srinu finds ready audience in Tadepalli. The differences have become so deep that both Botsa and Chinna Srinu came separately for the Paiditalli Ammavaru’s Jatara. The differences between Botsa and Chinna Srinu are now the hot topic of debate.

YSRCP sweeps AP Municipal polls, TDP trounced in Kuppam, Penugonda

0

The ruling YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh trounced opposition TDP in municipal elections, the counting for which is going on since today morning (Wednesday).

Out of 12 municipalities, the YSRCP already bagged 9 municipalities.

The opposition TDP managed to win only one municipality in Darsi in Prakasam district.

More shocking to TDP is that it lost Kuppam municipality, the home turf of TDP chief N.Chandrababu Naidu. The YSRCP won 14 wards in Kuppam,, while TDP won just 2 wards.

The TDP is giving a tough fight to YSRCP only in two municipalities in Jaggayyapeta and Kondapalli in Krishna district.

The YSRCP trounced TDP in Kuppam and Penugonda municipalities, considered to be the strongholds of TDP.

YSRCP won Akiveedu municipality in West Godavari district, Nellore corporation, Dachepally, Gurajala in Guntur district, Kamalapuram, Rajampet in Kadapa district.

After TDP’s shocking defeat in Kuppam, minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy demanded Chandrababu Naidu quit from politics as he lost all polls in Chittoor district and Kuppam constituency since 2019 Assembly polls.

He said although Chandrababu and Lokesh campaigned for several days like Assembly polls in Kuppam municipality, the voters rejected TDP.

Why is Dharmana speaking against his government?

0

Why did veteran politician and YSRCP leader Dharmana Prasada Rao slam his own government? The other day, he slammed the AP Government over non-payment of arrears to the contractors, who are already made to take up contractors at very low prices. He said that the government contractors were put to great loss due to low contract bids. He said the prices of cement, concrete and sand have gone up exponentially, but the government was asking the contractors to work at old rates.

Dharmana also slammed his own government for not ensuring an adequate supply of cement. He said this was giving a bad name to the government. He also accused the government officials of not keeping the government posted about these problems. Due to their inefficiency, the government was being blamed, Dharmana Prasada Rao said.

The YSRCP leaders and the political watchers are trying to decipher the real meaning of Dharmana’s outburst. Why did he criticize his own government, especially at a time such as this? Many argue that Dharmana is peeved at being omitted from the cabinet. Despite his experience and seniority, YS Jagan preferred his elder brother Dharmana Krishnadas. Now Dharmana is again being made an MLC.

Dharmana was reportedly offered the post of the speaker of the assembly to enable incumbent speaker Tammineni Sitaram to become a minister. But a disgruntled Dharama reportedly turned down the offer. He wants to have a go at the ministry before signing off his illustrious political career. It is this frustration that is making him speak against the government.

The ministers and MLAs from the ruling YSRCP are openly flouting the rules at all the polling booths in Andhra Pradesh where the polling for municipal polls is going on since Monday (today) morning even as the officials of AP State Election Commission and AP police department are watching helplessly.

The ministers and MLAs are roaming near polling booths with large number of YSRCP activists in big convoys in blatant violation of SEC norms. They are campaigning for ruling party candidates at polling booths, luring voters with money, liquor, biryani packets etc.

In Kuppam municipality, which is the home constituency of TDP chief N.Chandrababu Naidu, the ruling YSRCP is resorting to all sorts of irregularities to win Kuppam municipality at any cost.

Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, who wants to win Kuppam municipality at any cost and give as a gift to YSRCP chief and AP CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy, allegedly transported thousands of fake voters from other areas to Kuppam in buses and other vehicles.

TDPactivists are obstructing these vehicles from entering Kuppam. This led to a tussle between YSRCP activists and TDP activists.

TDP activists caught several fake voters without voter ID cards or Aadhaar cards and handed them over to police. But the police turned a blind eye under pressure from ruling YSRCP leaders.

About 37% of polling has been witnessed in Kuppam until 11 am.
