Akshay Kumar’s next film Laxmmi Bomb trailer created a sensation and kept huge expectations on the film. Lawrence directed the movie which is gearing up for a digital streaming next month. The makers of Laxmmi Bomb received a legal notice from Shri Rajput Karni Sensa. They felt that the title is derogatory and offensive to Goddess Laxmi. To avoid further controversies, the makers of Laxmmi Bomb renamed the title to Laxmmi. Considering the sentiments of the audience, the makers of the film decided to update the title.

Laxmmi is the remake of Tamil blockbuster Kanchana. Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani played the lead roles in the movie and it is produced by Shabinaa Khan, Tusshar Kapoor and Akshay Kumar. The film streams on Disney+ Hotstar VIP from November 9th.

Ranjit Tewari is the director and the film is the remake of Kannada action thriller with the same name.

“Rang De Basanti” fame actor Siddharth has taken a dig at actor Akshay Kumar over his “non-political” interview with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

After getting trolled for not casting his vote in Mumbai on April 29, Akshay issued a statement regarding the controversy over his citizenship. He accepted that he is a Canadian citizen. Before that Akshay grabbed headlines for his “candid and completely non-political” conversation with Modi.

Taking a dig at this, Siddharth expressed his wish to interview US President Donald Trump, and ask him about his sleep pattern and work habits.

“Hey Donald Trump, since you are getting ready to be re-elected soon, might I suggest an interview with me during your elections? I have crucial questions about how you eat fruit, your sleep and work habits and also your cute personality,” he tweeted on Friday night.

The 40-year-old actor added: “I have an Indian passport. Direct message me please.”

Though Siddharth did not mention Akshay’s name, several social media users connected the dots.

One commented: “Sorry Sid! The Canadian may beat you to it! Shorter flying time.”

Another wrote: “Wow Sid ji. What a hard hitting dig at Akshay Kumar. Good that everybody should stick to their role and not in others.”

Akshay Kumar on ‘2.0’: Wore more make-up than entire film career

Actor Akshay Kumar on Saturday said that his role in forthcoming multilingual science-fiction action drama “2.0” demanded him to wear more make-up than what he had worn in his entire career.

Akshay plays the antagonist in superstar Rajinikanth’s “2.0”, which marks his southern debut.

Speaking at the trailer launch event here, Akshay said working on the project has been both challenging and fun.

Akshay began his speech in Tamil amid a loud cheer from the audiences. He said he practiced for two hours to speak in Tamil.

Quickly switching to English, Akshay said: “I can’t express my feelings in words. I’m really thankful to Shankar sir and Lyca Productions for this opportunity.”

Talking about his role, he said: “It was a very challenging role and it took a toll on my body. But the pain and sacrifice was worth it. My character required around 4 hours of prosthetic make-up and another hour and a half to remove it. In my whole career, I’ve never put so much of make-up.”

The film, slated to release on November 29, in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu, also stars Amy Jackson, Adil Hussain and Sudhanshu Pandey in key roles.

Akshay’s fans get birthday treat with new ‘2.0’ poster

On the occasion of his 51st birthday on Sunday, actor Akshay Kumar on Sunday treated his fans with a fresh poster of his character from the upcoming sci-fi thriller “2.0”.

Revealing some details about his character in the film, Akshay said he is portraying a dark superhero.

“Here’s a special birthday treat for all my fans. Sharing with you my most powerful character and one which has probably stayed with me for the longest time. I am the dark superhero for those who don’t have a voice! Humans beware,” he wrote on Instagram.

Along with the post, he uploaded the poster showcasing his “2.0” avatar. Akshay looks almost unrecognisable as the antagonist with prosthetics.

Directed by S. Shankar, “2.0”, which stars Rajinikanth, is a sequel of 2010 film “Enthiran” — released in Hindi as “Robot”. The film is slated to release on November 29.

The film’s teaser will be out on September 13.

Designer Rocky Star, who is styling Rajinikanth for his upcoming film “2.0”, says that working with the megastar was a dream come true as he has always been in awe of him.

“2.0”, written and directed by S. Shankar, also stars Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson.

“It has been great! Akshay Kumar was one of the first actors I styled at the beginning of my career so, working with him is truly special and it has always been a dream to work with Rajinikanth. Words cannot express the feeling. I have always been in awe of him,” the designer told IANS in an email interview.

“It is always an exciting experience to be on sets and design or style for a movie. It is creatively stimulating and a lot of fun to design for a character the director has in mind.

“To understand and execute a director’s vision is challenging, but a fantastic experience,” added the designer who has also styled for international celebrities like Paris Hilton.

His client list in Bollywood includes stars like John Abraham, Bipasha Basu, Shilpa Shetty, Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra.

Known for his excellent construction, detailing and finishing, Rocky has not only mastered the art of designing clothes for movies, but has also plunged into other sectors of the industry.

He started doing bridal couture and then tried his hand at club wear, accessories and fragrance industries.

Now he has collaborated with Bent Chair with an aim to bring fashion and home decor on the same platform.

“Fashion is not something that is limited to clothes or the way one looks. Fashion is in itself a world that we live and breathe in. It is a lifestyle and keeping that in mind I wanted to do something that would elevate the fashion experience and take it straight to your living room.

“Starting a luxury home line is something I’ve always wanted to do and I’m quite excited about it,” he said.

The designer, who has come up with a new collection titled ‘Vida’, is also working with actress Esha Gupta.

“She is an absolute star and I will always love working with her irrespective of any new avatar she dons,” said the designer.

National Award winning actor Akshay Kumar, who attended the grand audio launch of his debut Tamil film “2.0” here, said that the Hindi film industry has a lot to learn from southern cinema.

Akshay along with filmmaker S. Shankar, megastar Rajinikanth, Oscar winning composer A.R. Rahman, actress Amy Jackson and producer Allirajah Subaskaran of Lyca Productions attended the audio launch of the 3D sci-fi entertainer here at the Burj Park on Friday.

“Rajini sir is the real superstar. I would like to thank Shankar sir for giving me the opportunity of working with a legend like Rajinikanth. I could’ve never imagined that I will get a chance to work in such a big and costly film like ‘2.0′,” Akshay said.

“I have done 130 films (in Bollywood). ‘2.0′ was my 131st film. I can only say that during the making of those 130 films, I got to learn little from every film, but I was learning throughout the shooting of this film.

“There’s a lot that we have to learn from South because the way they work, we have to understand a lot now. They work in unity and respect each other’s talent, we have to learn that,” he added.

Hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar, actor Rana Daggubati and RJ Balaji, the audio launch of the film was also attended by Rajinikanth’s family, including his wife Latha, daughters Aishwarya and Soundarya, and son-in-law and actor Dhanush among others.

A sequel to the 2010 Tamil blockbuster “Enthiran”, the film “2.0” has been made on a lavish budget.

Akshay will be essaying the prime antagonist in the film as an eccentric scientist called Richard, while Rajinikanth returns as scientist Vaseegaran.

The film is slated for a release in early 2018.

‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ crosses Rs 100 crore in India

Hindi film “Toilet: Ek Prem Katha”, which attempts to spread the message of eradicating open defecation in an entertaining vein, surpassed the Rs 100 crore on the eighth day since its release in India, its makers said on Saturday.

Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, the film features Akshay Kumar, Bhumi Pednekar and Anupam Kher in key roles.

“Day 8: Akshay Kumar’s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha crosses Rs 100 crore,” said a statement issued on behalf of the film’s makers.

The movie, which hit the screens on August 11, minted Rs 100.05 crore till Friday.

Its success has — in Akshay’s wife Twinkle Khanna’s words — helped the box office to break free from constipation after big ticket films like “Jagga Jasoos” and “Jab Harry Met Sejal” failed to elicit the expected response.

Bhumi, who plays the role of a woman who demands a toilet in her husband’s house, is ecstatic.

“Today is a special day and I really want to thank our audiences tht laughed and cried with us, believed in us and gave us love. Shree sir, thank you for choosing me to be your Jaya and making this film.You truly are amazing,” she tweeted.

“Toilet: Ek Prem Katha” also takes forward Akshay’s golden run at the box office after his entertainers “Airlift”, “Housefull 3”, “Rustom” and “Jolly LLB 2”.

According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, “‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ is Akshay Kumar’s eighth Rs 100 crore grosser… The second highest after Salman Khan (11 Rs 100 crore grossers).”

Meanwhile, Twinkle posted on social media a beach selfie and in the backdrop is a man relieving himself. The accompanying tongue-in-cheek caption — true to MrsFunnybones’ style — read: “Good morning and I guess here is the first scene of ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha Part 2’ #WhenYourWalkGoesDownTheToilet.”
