Shankar is one director who never listens to anyone when it comes to the film’s runtime. He scored several super hits in the past with lengthy runtimes but the trend has changed completely. The audience are not much interested to watch films that last for three hours. Indian 2 released last Friday and the film has been declared as a debacle. After the film received poor response, the team mounted pressure on Shankar and there were rumors that the film was trimmed by 20 minutes. But the trimmed version never came out and this further fueled speculations.

The team finally trimmed the film by 12 minutes and the updated version is available in theatres from today. But the entire damage for the film was already done. After poor response, the footfalls and the numbers dropped big on weekdays across the globe in all the languages. The trimmed version of Indian 2 will not impact the box-office numbers at all. Shankar should have taken a call on Friday or before the release. Kamal Haasan, Siddharth and Rakul Preet Singh played the lead roles in Indian 2. Lyca Productions in association with Red Giant Films bankrolled Indian 2.

After facing a series of hurdles and getting delayed by years, Kamal Haasan starrer Indian 2 is hitting the screens this Friday. Shankar is the director and Lyca Productions, Red Giant Films are the producers. Right before the release, Indian 2 landed into legal troubles. Aasan Rajendran is a martial art instructor from Kerala and he has filed a case against the team for not seeking permission from him to use the techniques of ‘Varma Kalai’. It is a technique and a mix of yoga, massage and martial arts used to damage the body or heal the body.

Aasan Rajendran has approached the Madurai court and the first hearing happened yesterday. The legal team of Indian 2 sought some more time and the next hearing is pushed. As per Aasan Rajendran, the team of Indian (first part) has credited him for training Kamal Haasan in 1996 before the shoot. Rajendran argues that the skill is used in Indian 2 without his permission and he wanted the court to ban the theatrical and OTT release of Indian 2. More details awaited.

Indian 2 suffered major setbacks and the shoot was stalled for years. The shoot resumed last year after a lot of financial damage for the producers. Some of the crew members lost their lives and the makers compensated big amounts for their families. Finally, Indian 2 is hitting the screens in July but the film is struggling for buzz. This is because of the poor response for the songs and the promotional content. Kamal Haasan will be seen only during the second half of the film and not in the first half. Siddharth and other actors carry the entire first half and this is not digestible for most of them.

Indian is an emotion for the Indian audience and Kamal Haasan can mesmerize the audience as Indian 2 is the sequel after years of wait. Kajal’s role is completely chopped off and this is a shock for the audience. Without any prominent actors other than Siddharth and Rakul, carrying a successful sequel is not an easy task for Shankar and his team. The low buzz too is worrying the audience. Even the buzz is minimal in Tamil Nadu. Indian 2 will struggle to open big in Telugu states as per the ongoing buzz. The grand audio launch of Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 took place in a grand manner in Chennai recently. Anirudh scored the music but the team along with Anirudh got trolled for the poor music album. Not a single song was catchy and the entire album went unregistered. The film is carrying low buzz and with the release date nearing, the makers will have to focus more on the promotions and release some interesting stuff from the film. Indian 2 is gearing up for July 13th release across the globe. Shankar aims a strong comeback with this film and there is Indian 3 getting ready.
