Kavitha to skip ED probe in Delhi excise policy case

0

K. Kavitha, the daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, who was all set to join the investigation of Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with Delhi excise policy scam case, is likely to skip the summon.

Sources said that she gave a letter to the ED on Wednesday saying her issue was pending before the Supreme Court and hence she needs time.

During her first appearance, she was reportedly confronted with Hyderabad-based businessman Arun Pillai, who had represented the South Group which allegedly gave kickbacks of Rs 100 crore to the AAP leaders allegedly used during the Goa Assembly polls.

Pillai has reportedly said that he was Kavitha’s associate.

On Wednesday, the ED recorded the statement of Buchchi Babu, the BRS MLC’s former auditor and also a member of the South Group.

Kavitha has maintained that she has never met former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who has been arrested by the CBI and the ED in connection with the case, claiming that her name was being unnecessarily dragged into the matter.

According to the ED, Kavitha is also one of the representatives of South Group in the excise policy case.

Will appear on March 11, Kavitha writes to ED

0

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K. Kavitha has written to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) that she will appear before the agency on March 11 in Delhi excise policy case.

Kavitha has written the letter in response to the notice issued by the ED asking her to appear before it on March 9.

The daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had apparently requested for a week’s time to appear but the ED rejected her request, and subsequently she sent another letter.

A statement in this regard was issued from Kavitha’s office late Wednesday night.

“I being a responsible Indian citizen, and as a women of this Nation wish to exercise my rights provided under the law,” she wrote.

“Further, I fail to understand as to why I have been summoned at such a short notice. It seems that certain political motives have been masquerading in the name of investigation. I categorically say that I have nothing to do with the present investigation. As stated, being a social worker and having prior commitments, I had already planned my schedule for the upcoming week, and the abrupt rejection of my request seems to be motivated by reasons best known to you, which demonstrates that it is nothing but ‘political victimisation’,” Kavitha said.

“However, without prejudice to my rights and contentions available in law as well as equity, being a true and law abiding citizen of this country, I will appear at your good offices on 11.03.2023, as adamantly directed by you in the teeth of the laws mentioned hereinabove,” she added.

Kavitha, who left for Delhi on Wednesday evening, is scheduled to lead a day-long protest in Delhi on March 10 against delay in passing the women’s reservation bill by the Parliament.

Delhi liquor scam: Kavitha terms allegations ‘bogus and false’

1

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter K. Kavitha on Wednesday said that the allegations against her in Delhi liquor scam case are “bogus and false”.

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader termed the allegations against her a “political vendetta” of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and claimed that time will prove her sincerity.

Kavitha, a member of Telangana Legislative Council, stated this in response to the tweets by Congress MP and Telangana in-charge Manickam Tagore and BJP leader Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy.

“The accusations on me are completely bogus and false. Only time will prove my sincerity. It’s a political vendetta of BJP, as they fear BRS Party Chief CM KCR ji’s expose on their anti-farmer & pro-capitalist policies,” Kavitha tweeted.

She was reacting to Manickam Tagore’s tweet that she has a lot of explanations to make.

The Congress leader was reacting to media reports that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in its chargesheet in the case claimed that Kavitha paid Rs 100 crore bribe to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

According to the ED, the South Group comprising Kavitha, Aurobindo Pharma director Sharat Chandra Reddy and YSR Congress MP Magunta Srinivasula Reddy paid kickbacks of Rs 100 crore to Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP to gain control over the liquor business in the national capital.

The South Group allegedly bagged wholesale trade and several retail zones. The ED alleged that Kavitha holds 65 per cent stake along with the Magunta family through her proxy Arun Pillai in Indospirit, which made at least Rs 195 crore as profit by selling 14 crore bottles in retail.

Kavitha also reacted to another tweet by BJP’s Rajagopal Reddy. “Liquor Queen’s name was mentioned 28 times in the chargesheet,” tweeted the BJP leader referring to a newspaper report.

The BRS leader advised him not to be hasty. “Not 28 times, even if my name is mentioned 28,000 times, a lie does not become truth,” tweeted Kavitha with the hashtag truth will prevail.

On December 11, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had questioned Kavitha for more than seven hours.

The central agency recorded her statement under Section 160 of Criminal Procedure Code.

On November 30, Kavitha’s name had surfaced in the remand report filed by the ED in a Delhi court for remand of businessman Amit Arora in Delhi liquor policy scam.

According to the remand report, businessman Vijay Nair, who has already been arrested in the case, received kickbacks of Rs 100 crore on behalf of AAP leaders from South Group.

Delhi liquor case: Kavitha’s questioning by CBI continues for over 6 hours

1

The questioning of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter K. Kavitha in Delhi liquor scam case by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was continuing for more than six hours at her residence in Hyderabad.

A team of CBI officials were recording the statement of the Member of Legislative Council (MLC) of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) at her Banjara Hills residence.

The officials, including a woman, arrived in two vehicles amid tight security around 11 a.m. and since then the questioning continued. Sources said there was a lunch break during the questioning.

The surroundings of Kavitha’s house were deserted before the arrival of the CBI officials as she had requested her supporters and BRS leaders and workers not to gather there.

Barricades were erected to prevent any gathering. BRS sources said this was done as a gathering might be seen as an attempt to create hurdles in the CBI investigation.

The CBI had served a notice to Kavitha under Section 160 of Criminal Procedure Code, seeking her clarifications.

The CBI, in its notice, had mentioned that the case was registered on the basis of written complaint received from Praveen Kumar Rai, Director in the Union Home Ministry against Delhi Deputy Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia and 14 others regarding the allegations pertaining to excise policy of Delhi for 2021-22.

“During the course of investigation of the subject cited case, certain facts have emerged which you may be acquainted with, hence your examination on such facts is required in the interest of investigation,” reads the CBI notice.

On November 30, Kavitha’s name had surfaced in the remand report filed by the ED in a Delhi court on Wednesday for remand of businessman Amit Arora in Delhi liquor policy scam.

According to the remand report, businessman Vijay Nair, who has already been arrested in the case, received kickbacks of Rs. 100 crore on behalf of AAP leaders from a group, called the ‘South Group’, controlled by Sarath Reddy, Kavitha and Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy.

Sarath Reddy, one of the directors of pharma major Aurobindo Pharma, has already been arrested.

Srinivasulu Reddy is a member of Parliament belonging to Andhra Pradesh’s ruling party YSR Congress Party (YSRCP).

Kavitha had initially agreed to the CBI’s request to meet them on December 6. However, she later wrote a letter to the agency seeking copies of the complaint from the Union Home Ministry and the FIR. In reply the CBI informed her that a copy of FIR and complaint is available on the website.

Kavitha, in her response on December 5, conveyed to the central agency that she had carefully gone through the content of the FIR, list of accused persons as well as the contents of the complaint but found that her name does not figure in any manner whatsoever.

She had conveyed to the central agency that she is not in a position to meet them on December 6 and proposed alternate dates.

The CBI informed Kavitha on December 6 that a team will visit her residence in Hyderabad on December 11 for her examination and recording of her statement in connection with the investigation in the case.

The central agency had asked her to confirm availability on the said date and time. Kavitha sent a reply the same day confirming her availability on the day.

‘Can’t meet on Dec 6’, Kavitha writes to CBI

0

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter K. Kavitha wrote to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday that she was not in a position to meet them on December 6 because of her preoccupied schedule.

She conveyed to the central agency that she will be able to meet them either on December 11, 12 or December 14, 15 at her residence in Hyderabad.

The Member of Legislative Council (MLC) of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) wrote that she had gone through the complaint and the FIR registered in Delhi liquor policy scam case and that her name does not figure in any manner whatsoever.

A day after receiving the notice from CBI on December 2 seeking clarifications in the case, Kavitha wrote to the agency seeking copies of the complaint from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India and the FIR. In a reply the CBI informed her that a copy of FIR and complaint was available on the website. “I have carefully gone through the content of the FIR, list of accused persons as well as the contents of the complaint dated 22-07-2022, I wish to place on record that my name does not figure in any manner whatsoever,” reads her letter.

“As proposed by you I am not in a position to meet on 6th December 2022, because of my preoccupied schedule, I will be able to meet you either on 11th, 12th or 14th, 15th of this month whichever is convenient to you at my residence in Hyderabad. Same may please be confirmed at the earliest,” he said.

Kavitha assured her cooperation in the investigation. “I am a law abiding citizen and will cooperate with the investigation, I will meet you on any of the above said dates to cooperate with the investigation. It is made clear that this is without prejudice to my legal rights available under law,” she added.

The TRS leader had confirmed on December 2 that she was issued a notice by the CBI under Section 160 of Cr.P.C, seeking her clarification. “I have informed the authorities that I can meet them at my residence in Hyderabad on Dec 6th as per their request,” Kavita had said in a statement.

The CBI, in its notice, had mentioned that the case was registered on the basis of written complaint received from Praveen Kumar Rai, Director, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India against Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia and 14 others regarding the allegations pertaining to the excise policy of Delhi for 2021-22.

According to the remand report, businessman Vijay Nair, who has already been arrested in the case, received kickbacks of Rs 100 crore on behalf of AAP leaders from a group, called ‘South Group’.

According to the report, the group is controlled by Sarath Reddy, Kavitha and Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy.

Sarath Reddy, one of the directors of pharma major Aurobindo Pharma, has already been arrested.

Srinivasulu Reddy is an MP belonging to Andhra Pradesh’s ruling party YSR Congress Party (YSRCP).

Summoned by CBI in liquor scam, Kavitha meets KCR

0

A day after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sought clarifications in the Delhi liquor policy scam, TRS MLC K. Kavitha on Saturday met Telangana Chief Minister and her father K. Chandrashekar Rao.

Kavitha drove to Pragati Bhavan, the residence of CM KCR. They are believed to be discussing the strategy to counter what they believe is political vendetta by the BJP government at the Centre by targeting them through Central agencies.

She is likely to discuss the latest developments with brother and state minister K. T. Rama Rao and other family members.

The TRS leaders are also believed to be discussing the political strategy of the party to counter investigation by Central agencies like the CBI, Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Income Tax against state ministers, MPs, state legislators and other leaders.

Meanwhile, a large number of TRS workers reached Kavitha’s house to show solidarity with her a day after she confirmed that the CBI has issued a notice to her.

“I’ve been issued a CBI Notice under Section 160 of Cr.P.C, seeking my clarification. I have informed the authorities that I can meet them at my residence in Hyderabad on Dec 6th as per their request,” Kavita said in a statement on Friday.

The CBI notice dated December 2, stated, “During the course of investigation of the subject cited case, certain facts have emerged which you may be acquainted with, hence your examination on such facts is required in the interest of investigation.”

On November 30, Kavitha’s name had surfaced in the remand report filed by the ED in a Delhi court on Wednesday for remand of businessman Amit Arora in Delhi liquor policy scam.

According to the remand report, businessman Vijay Nair, who has already been arrested in the case, received kickbacks of Rs 100 crore on behalf of AAP leaders from a group, called ‘South Group’.

The group is controlled by Sarath Reddy, Kavitha and Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, it added.

Sarath Reddy, one of the directors of pharma major Aurobindo Pharma, has already been arrested.

Srinivasulu Reddy is a member of Parliament belonging to Andhra Pradesh’s ruling party YSR Congress Party (YSRCP).

The CBI is likely to seek information from Kavitha based on the remand report. The ED stated in the report that the TRS leader changed 10 phone devices between December 2021 and October 2022.

Kavitha had said on December 1 that she will fully cooperate with the central agency and is not scared of anything.

She alleged that the BJP government at the Centre is playing cheap tricks to damage her reputation through media leaks.

“We have already said we are ready to face any probe. If an agency comes and questions, we will definitely give a reply but if you resort to media leaks to damage the reputation of leaders, people will definitely fight back,” she said.

Kavitha, a member of Telangana Legislative Council, also dared the Modi government to put her in jail. “If you want to put me in jail, do it. There is no problem but we will not stop working for the people and we will continue to expose failures of the BJP,” she said.

The former MP alleged that the ED, CBI and IT cases against ministers, MLAs and other TRS leaders was BJP’s reaction to TRS exposing its conspiracy to topple democratically elected government.

“You conspired to topple the government and since we exposed this before people, as a reaction ED, CBI, IT cases are booked against ministers, MLAs and MLCs,” she said.

Telangana: Kavitha, Sharmila trade barbs on Twitter

0

YSR Telangana Rashtra Samithi (YSRTP) leader Y.S. Sharmila and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) legislator K. Kavitha were locked in a war of words over Twitter a day after the former’s arrest in Hyderabad amid high drama.

Kavitha, daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, described Sharmila as a ‘covert’ of BJP. Using rhyming words in Telugu, the member of Telangana Legislative Council launched a counter attack on the sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Terming Sharmila an ‘arrow’ of the BJP, the TRS leader alleged that YSRTP president and BJP leaders were working hand-in-glove.

Sharmila hit back at Kavitha in her own style. She remarked that the TRS leader is neither undertaking padyatra nor addressing people’s problems.

She also alleged that promises have not been kept. Sharmila also taunted that Kavitha has no place in ‘pink’ (colour of TRS) garden where there are only positions but no work.

Kavitha responded with a poem addressing Sharmila as an arrow of ‘lotus’ (symbol of BJP). She called YSRTP leader ‘lotus covert’ and ‘orange parrot’.

Stating that she is not a political tourist like her, the TRS leader reminded her that she emerged from the Telangana movement.

The war of words between the two began after Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and several BJP leaders condemned the TRS government for the manner in which Sharmila was arrested in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

The Governor expressed anguish at the way Sharmila was arrested and expressed concern about her safety and health condition.

“The visuals of towing away her car, when she was inside the car, were disturbing,” she tweeted.

Following the Governor’s tweet and statements by BJP leaders in Sharmila’s defence, several TRS leaders said this proves that she is BJP’s arrow.

Sharmila was arrested amid high drama on Raj Bhavan Road on Tuesday when she was marching to the chief minister’s residence to stage a protest against attack on her padyatra in Warangal district by the supporters of ruling TRS the previous day.

Sharmila, who was driving a car damaged in the attack by TRS men, refused to get down. The police then called a towing vehicle, which towed the car away with Sharmila still sitting inside it.

10incidents to show how Kavitha was sidelined in TRS

1

Ever since Kalvakuntla Kavitha has skipped the big announcement of BRS meeting, speculations are rife over differences in the family and Kavitha seems to have been being strategically sidelined. Here are the 10 incidents which show case that the TRS has sidelined the a prominent woman face of the party

1. It’s about to be 4years but so far no proper review was reportedly done by the party on why Kavitha lost the elections and the next steps to revive

2. Kavitha was not considered for Rajya Sabha despite everyone being well aware of her contacts at national level especially media and parliamentarians. She was given MLC only so she has some sort of protocol

3.Kalvakuntla family reportedly doesn’t address the elephant in the room. It is sort of cold war, they don’t talk about the issue and clear the air about it. Even she skipped the Dusshera ritual

4. When an allegation came against Kavitha on liquor scam, the reaction of the party was late. While the attack happened in the noon, the leadership took its own sweet time to send leaders to her house as a support. That was the last instance the party stood by her

5.Nobody defends Kavitha when opposition parties make brutal accusations and abuse. Opponents are morphing her pictures, calling her Liquor Queen and what not, let alone condemning, not one complaint has been filed.

6.Social media warriors have completely ignored her. They also didn’t come in her support. Nobody gives a counter to the trolls, leaving her isolated

7.When the Faceoff with the governor happened, while the latter refused to play Bathukamma, it wasn’t even condemned by leaders. All the talk around Telangana sentiment was set aside just because it would elevate Kavitha

8.She is maintaining low profile and not even tweeting a condolence message on Mulayam Singh Yadav’s death, even though she is close associate Yadavs. This raised an eyebrow over the instruction from the party to her to keep quiet

9.Before launch of BRS, Kavitha accompanied, KCR on all his national tours. She used to talk to all the media houses. She was in Maharashtra, Delhi. Even just before announcement of BRS she allegedly spoke to KCR but she didn’t turn up.

10.Her brother KTR termed her absence on BRS as “silly and trivial issue”. Worst part is her absence on was compared to a first time MP Ranjith Reddy who also skipped the meeting over broken leg. Evidently Kavitha like all the leaders of Udhyamam Telangana batch is being sidelined for the Bangaru Telangana batch

Why KCR, KTR, Kavitha skip TRS protests against BJP ?

0

The ruling TRS in Telangana held protest rallies across the state on Wednesday to protest against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s comments made in Parliament finding fault with the process adopted by previous Congress-led UPA government for for bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and formation of Telangana state in 2014.

TRS ministers, MLAs, MLCs took part in protest rallies in all the Assembly constituencies across Telangana. They conduced funeral processions for the effigies of PM Modi and BJP and burnt them on the roads.

But, TRS president and Telangana CM KCR, his son KTR and his daughter Kavitha did not take part in protest rallies despite being top leaders in the party and who are expected to lead the party’s leaders and cadre from the front.

Their absence raised doubts over whether the war declared by KCR and KTR against Modi and BJP was genuine or fake.

The buzz in political circles is that if the TRS war against BJP was genuine at least KTR and Kavitha would have participated in protest rallies.

This triggers speculations all this is part of a ‘big drama’ enacted by TRS and BJP to project before people and media that only TRS and BJP remain in the political fray in Telangana and Congress has no place in Telangana politics.

After Revanth Reddy took over as TPCC chief in June 2021, Congress picked up in Telangana. With this TRS and BJP are worried about losing ground to Congress in 2023 Assembly polls.

To counter this, TRS and BJP are playing political dramas on the issue of paddy procurement, new Constitution, Union Budget etc and trying to give an impression that the war is only between TRS and BJP in Telangana and the Congress has no presence in Telangana.

In this way, BJP is trying to benefit TRS politically to retain power again and in turn TRS will support BJP on all the issues at the national level.

Turmeric trouble for Dharmapuri Aravind

0

His political foray was sensational. He refused to toe his illustrious father’s political line and joined the BJP. He contested the Nizamabad MP seat and emerged a giant killer by trouncing Chief Minister KCR’s daughter Kavitha. Later, he carved a niche for himself with his acerbic comments and aggressive actions. But, all these seem to be coming to a naught for BJP leader and Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Aravind.

These days, he is finding himself on a sticky wicket in his own constituency, His biggest promise during the 2019 elections appears to have become his toughest problem. He promised to get the Turmeric Board set up in Nizamabad. However, he has completely failed in turning this assurance into reality. The turmeric farmers are upset and angry with him. They are determined to defeat him in the next elections.

Realising this, Dharmapuri Aravind is planning to shift from the Lok Sabha to the assembly. He is planning to contest from Armoor constituency. He has already begun the groundwork for the 2023 elections. However, political analysts say that Armoor may not be a cakewalk for him since Armoor is home to a large number of turmeric farmers.

Analysts say that incumbent TRS MLA Jeevan Reddy is locally quite powerful. He has deep connections with almost every village in the constituency. So, fighting against Jeevan Reddy would be an arduous task for Aravind. Meanwhile, several BJP leaders too are unhappy with D Aravind’s decision to contest from Armoor as it would mean the end of their political dreams.

Kavitha, Harish join KCR, KTR’s ‘letter war’!

0

TRS president, Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao and his son, IT minister K.T.Rama Rao have launched a ‘letter war’ on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP government at the Centre.

For the past one month, KCR and KTR are writing letters to PM Narendra Modi and union ministers Nirmala Sitharaman, Piyush Goyal, Ashwini Vaishnaw, Nitin Gadkari, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat etc pointing out discrimination being meted out to Telangana in sanctioning of projects and funds, on pending state bifurcation promises and demanding more funds and projects to Telangana in upcoming Union Budget 2022-23 set to be presented in the Parliament in February.

KCR and KTR are also attacking Modi and Centre in their letters.

These letters of KCR and KTR are attracting top headlines in newspapers and TV channels in Telangana while some are garnering the attention of national media.

Now, finance minister T.Harish Rao and MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha have joined in this ‘letter war’ against BJP.

Incidentally, both Harish Rao and Kavitha wrote letters on the same day on Monday.

In his letter to union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Harish Rao took strong exception to Centre not granting funds to Telangana for the development of backward regions, pending 14th and 15th finance commission grants, denial of funds recommended by NITI Aayog, GST/ IGST arrears etc.

Kavitha on the other hand dashed off a letter to Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay to answer why BJP government at the Centre did not sanction a single paise to Telangana for conducting Medaram Jatara, known to be the Asia’s largest tribal festival, even after CM KCR writing series of letters to the Centre in this regard.

Kavitha asked Sanjay to answer why BJP government at the Centre has kept the legislation extending 10 per cent reservations for tribals (STs) pending that was passed by TRS government in Legislative Assembly in 2017.

BJP leaders are angry at entire KCR’s family engaging in letter war against BJP.

Kavitha angry at TRS leaders land encroachments, settlements!

0

Kalvakuntla Kavitha, Nizamabad MLC and daughter of TRS president, Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao has stepped up efforts to reclaim her lost bastion, that is Nizamabad Lok Sabha seat.

Kavitha who remained inactive in Nizamabad politics after her shocking defeat at the hands of BJP’s Dharmapuri Aravind in Nizamabad Lok Sabha election in May 2019, has been frequently visiting the district these days as Lok Sabha polls are just two and a half years away.

Kavitha is meeting people and party’s activists at ground-level to take their feedback on the functioning of party as well as TRS government.

Kavitha reportedly has been receiving negative feedback from them who are complaining that TRS MLAs in Nizamabad district are indulging in land encroachments and doing ‘settlements’ and making huge money.

They reportedly complained that they are bringing disrepute to TRS with their shady dealings and this needs to be curbed as people in the district are vexed with their illegal acts.

They cautioned Kavitha that she faces the risk of losing again in Nizamabad Lok Sabha seat in 2024 if the party leadership fails to control TRS MLAs indulging in land encroachments and settlements.

Kavitha reportedly warned two MLAs in Nizamabad and Armoor constituencies and asked them to mend their ways else the party will be forced to take severe action against them.

Kavitha arrived after Pawan left for “Alai-Balai”

0

It is known to everyone that senior BJP leader Bandaru Dattatreya organises “Alai-Balai” programme in Hyderabad every year during Dasara at Necklace Road, Hyderabad.

Leaders cutting across party lines attend Alai-Balai programme, which is all about meeting, greeting, and eating coupled with fun frolic.

Since Dattatreya now holds a constitutional post as Governor of Haryana, his daughter Bandaru Vijaya Laxmi organised the event this year at Necklace Road.

Vice president Venkaiah Naidu attended the event as the chief guest while Tamil Nadu governor Tamilisai Soundararajan inaugurated the event.

Bandaru Vijayalaxmi invited leaders of all parties including Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan and TRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha, the daughter of Telangana CM KCR.

Kavitha’s PRO team has sent a message to all media persons stating that Kavitha will attend the event at 11 am.

Soon after, they sent a revised message saying that Kavitha will arrive late and not at 11 am and the revised time will be intimated to media later.

Kavitha finally arrived at 12.30 pm. Pawan Kalyan along with Venkaiah Naidu attended the event promptly at 11 am, gave speeches and left the venue.

Kavitha arrived at the venue after Pawan left triggering speculations that Kavitha delayed her arrival only to avoid Pawan Kalyan.

It may be recalled that Pawan Kalyan and Kavitha were bitter critics during Telangana statehood agitation days.

Pawan demanded Kavitha to make the accounts of her NGO organisation Telangana Jagruthi public alleging that Kavitha was extorting money from rich people, businessmen, Tollywood personalities etc in the name of Telangana agitation.

Even KCR and KTR used to target Pawan Kalyan terming him as a ‘joker’.

Alai-Balai event includes felicitation of prominent personalities, besides cultural programme by noted artistes of Telangana.

The festival was started by Dattatreya two decades ago at Nizam’s College, Hyderabad to spread camaraderie and brotherhood among people, which is now being held at Necklace Road every year during Dasara since 2005.

Why did Kavitha not attend Pragathi Bhavan Batukamma celebrations?

0

Think Batukamma, think Kavitha Kalwakuntla. KCR’s daughter has come to symbolise the floral festival of Telangana so much that it is almost impossible to separate them. Through her Telangana Jagruthi, she has popularised the festival during the Telangana agitation. Batukamma has emerged as a symbol of Telangana pride. All this thanks to Kavitha’s efforts.

However, Kavitha did not attend this year’s Batukamma celebrations in Pragathi Bhavan. Though there were celebrations at Pragathi Bhavan, she was conspicuous by her absence. This has fuelled speculations about her estranged relations with her brother. Kavitha was present at another public programme. Though she had a song released for this Batukamma, she studiously kept away from official programmes.

Interestingly, she also did not tie the customary rakhi to her brother KTR. Though she has an alibi that she was on a vacation in the US, the cold vibes were all too visible. In the tweet that she had uploaded on Rakhi Bandhan, the photograph included Rajya Sabha MP Santosh Kumar too.

As of now, Kavitha’s political career has hit a dead-end. Her term as an MLC is coming to an end next year. The next year, there would be assembly elections. Till then, she cannot hope to become a minister. Sources say that her relations with her brother KTR are quite icy.

Kavitha breaks silence, talks politics after long time!

1

TRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha, who is also the daughter of Telangana Chief  Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao, has been maintaining a stoic silence on politics ever since she was defeated in Nizamabad Lok Sabha seat in 2019.

Although she was made MLC in October 2020, she remained politically inactive even after a year.

But Kavitha on Thursday (today) finally broke her silence and talked about politics in the wake of Huzurabad by poll.

Kavitha tried to downplay Etala Rajender saying she doesn’t consider BJP as prime political rival of TRS.

She says TRS will win Huzurabad comfortably but she is not ready to accept this bypoll as a referendum on TRS government.

When Kavitha is so confident of TRS victory, why she is hesitant to accept this by poll as referendum is the question for which she has no answer.

This gave scope for suspicion that Kavitha has doubts about TRS victory and for this reason she is finding excuses saying people are not considering Huzurabad by poll as referendum

TRS Kavita wins Nizamabad MLC By-election

2

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has established clear supremacy once again. It has now won the Nizamabad By-election with a huge majority. The TRS got a clear upper hand in the first round itself.

In a severe blow to the Opposition, both the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have lost deposits.

With this, KCR’s daughter Kalwakuntla Kavita has become an MLC. It may be recalled that Kavita lost the Nizamabad Lok Sabha election in 2019 general election. She kept a low profile in the party politics ever since.

Once again, Kavita made a spectacular comeback by getting a huge majority. She is all set to get the victory certificate from the election authorities. This has put an end to speculation that Kavita will not re-enter active politics again.

The victory also came as a boost for the TRS Chief KCR at a time when the BJP and the TDP were giving big challenges to its strength at the field level.

Is KTR not happy at Kavitha becoming MLC?

0

Everyone knows how IT minister and KCR’s son KT Rama Rao remains very active on social media especially on Twitter. He reacts on every issue under the sun with his tweets.

But when his sister Kalvakuntla Kavitha filed nomination for MLC seat from Nizamabad local bodies constituency on Wednesday, KTR remained silent. Neither he tweeted expressing his best wishes to Kavitha nor sent any congratulatory message to media.

This naturally triggered speculations not only in TRS but also in political circles that KTR is not happy at Kavitha coming into state politics by becoming MLC and became a ‘power centre’ in TRS and TRS government and pose a competition to him in the future.

The reason for these specuatlions is that both Kavitha’s brother in law and minister T Harish Rao and Kavitha’s cousin and Rajya Sabha member Joginapally Santhosh Kumar tweeted expressing best wishes to Kavitha on her nomination as MLC.

With KTR remaining mum even after knowing about Harish and Santhosh’s tweets, a heated debate is going on in TRS circles over this issue.

The summary of these debates is that KTR wants Kavitha to remain in national politics like earlier and should not shift to state politics.

No political party gave equal space to woman: TRS MP Kavitha

1

Hyderabad: K Kavitha, TRS MP from Nizamabad, said that no political party including TRS gave equal opportunity to woman in Indian politics so far. Unless the woman quota in politics is mandated by either Parliament or Elections Commission, the inequality issue can’t be resolved, she said.

Opposition parties particularly BJP leader G Kishan Reddy has been targeting TRS for not including woman in the state Cabinet. Responding to such criticism, Kavitha said: “I can’t influence my father-chief minister to induct woman into the Cabinet. I don’t hesitate to say that all political parties including TRS have not given an equal space to woman in the Indian politics so far. I am a junior leader of the party and how can I influence or demand my father, who’s with over 40 years of successful political career. If someone wants me to wield my power around my father, I don’t think that works in politics. However, I believe that unless the woman quota is mandated by the constitution, this burning problem can’t be resolve.”

Out of 90 TRS MLAs, only four are woman. TRS’ first term Cabinet during 2014-18 didn’t have any woman participation. Everybody expected that at least second-term Cabinet will have woman. But, recent expansion didn’t have any woman MLA.

Naidu posing as national level leader, assembly results will backfire: TRS leader Kavitha

0

Andhdra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was posing as a national-level leader to hide his failures in the state and the results of assembly polls in Telangana will badly backfire on him and the Congress for any alliance at the Centre, says TRS leader K. Kavitha.

Kavitha, an MP who is daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, told IANS in an interview that Telangana Rashtra Samithi will win the assembly polls hands down and it will then start working towards a national alternative which does not have BJP or Congress.

“Basically, Chandrababu Naidu is losing ground in Andhra Pradesh so he wants to pose as a national level leader so that there might be some advantage in Andhra Pradesh. To make sure his failures in Andhra Pradesh are not be highlighted, he is diverting people’s attention to the so-called national level alliance but it will backfire very badly both for him and Congress also,” Kavitha said.

She was asked about efforts by Naidu to bring opposition parties together to take on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP-led alliance in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls and if he could emerge as a pivot of opposition unity.

“Because in Telanagana results, you will see that this alliance has been beaten. Do you think it will be taken at the national level once it is beaten at the state level? All the effort Naidu is making is to divert the attention of people from his own administration in Andhra Pradesh,” she said.

Naidu and leaders of several other opposition parties are slated to meet in the national capital on Monday to decide the way forward to take on the BJP-led NDA.

Naidu, who was part of the National Democratic Alliance, had quit it earlier this year and allied with its traditional rival Congress in the Telangana polls.

The CPI and the Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS), a new party floated by M. Kodandaram, who was once Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s friend in the Telangana movement, are also part of the alliance.

Kavitha said an alternate political platform should be encouraged.

“We are going to anyway wins down hands down the assembly polls so the impact will be positive in the Lok Sabha in polls and we will win all the seats. We are very confident about it. We will not ally with anybody. We proposed a federal front which will have no BJP, no Congress. People have given them a lot chance. There should be an alternate politial platform in the country which should be encouraged. TRS will play a role great role in forming this political platform. After assembly polls, we will start focusing on the national agenda,” she explained.

She said the December 11 results will show that the alliance – People’s Front – has been rejected, adding the opposition parties had also come together in previous bypolls but lost.

“This alliance has been constantly working against the interest of our state. We have an oppostiion which is very irresponsible,” Kavitha said and alleged Congress had sought to stall a major irrigation project through court cases.

She said the alliance has hit credibility of both the TDP and the Congress.

“TDP was fundamentally formed to oppose Congress. It was N.T. Rama Rao’s wish. Now, the current day TDP has compromised its own core philosophy and principles. Now, if a political party has compromised its own core ideology, the people are bound not to take it seriously anymore. That is what happened to TDP allying with Congress. It will hit them hard.”

She said the party had implemented all its promises and had striven to win around 100 of the 119 seats in the assembly.

She said rallies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi had little impact and said BJP was not a factor in the state.

Asked about the decision to go for early polls, she said the idea was to make sure that the narrative of the election is about and around Telangana

“If we had election around the parliamentary election, the discussion would be mandir, masjid, Rafale, Bofors and which would have nothing for Telangana. The effort that TRS our leader put in for four-and-a-half years should not go waste,” Kavitha explained.
