Big B, Akshay, Prabhas, Jr NTR to dominate March with big releases

The month of March looks promising as some of India’s biggest stars such as Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Prabhas, Jr NTR and Ram Charan are all set to light up the big screen after gloomy months due to the surge of Covid cases in the country.

The first movie to release in March is Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s film ‘Jhund’. The film is scheduled to hit the screens on March 4. ‘Jhund’ is a sports film based on the life of Vijay Barse, the founder of NGO ‘Slum Soccer’. It also features Akash Thosar and Rinku Rajguru.

In the Nagraj Popatrao Manjule directorial, Bachchan will be seen playing a professor who motivates the street children to form a football team.

Next to set the screens on fire is actor Suriya’s action entertainer ‘Etharkkum Thunindhavan’, which will release on March 10. The movie was earlier set for release on February 4. However, the makers chose to postpone its release after lockdown restrictions were imposed by the Tamil Nadu government to contain the spread of the third wave of the pandemic.

Then there is ‘Radhe Shyam’, where South sensation Prabhas plays a palmist, while actress Pooja Hegde will be seen as his love interest. The intense love story will light up the screens on March 11.

Alongside ‘Radhe Shyam’, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri’s directorial ‘The Kashmir Files’ will be seeing the light of day in the theatres. Postponed due to a significant spike in Covid cases in the country, ‘The Kashmir Files’ is based on the lives of Kashmiri Pandits. It boasts of an ensemble cast including names such as Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar and Pallavi Joshi among many others.

Next up is Bollywood’s ‘Khiladi’ star Akshay Kumar’s film ‘Bachchhan Paandey’.

‘Bachchhan Paandey’ has been blocked for a Holi weekend release and is scheduled to hit the big screen on March 18. The film, which also stars Kriti Sanon, Jacqueline Fernandez, Arshad Warsi, Pankaj Tripathi, Prateik Babbar and Abhimanyu Singh. The film is a remake of the 2014 Tamil film ‘Jigarthanda’.

Bringing the curtains down with a bang for March is filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli’s magnum opus ‘RRR’ on March 25.

‘RRR’ was supposed to hit the screens in January, but the Covid-19 surge had pushed the makers to postpone the release.

Featuring Telugu superstars Jr NTR and Ram Charan in the lead roles, ‘RRR’ is being touted as the fictionalised tale of two real-life unsung heroes, who fought for tribal rights. Ram Charan and Jr NTR respectively play Alluri Sitarama Raju, the leader of the Rampa Rebellion of 1922, and the Gond rebel Komaram Bheem, who took on the Nizam of Hyderabad.

In the wake of rumours that the government of Andhra Pradesh is considering allowing flexible cinema ticket pricing, many Telugu biggies are preparing for release.

Also, Chiranjeevi and his delegation’s attempt to fix the pertaining issues is expected to be fruitful, as the government has responded positively to ticket pricing in AP.

So, the whole industry is looking forward to the new Government Order on movie ticket prices, so as to announce the release dates of most of the movies. As the ticket pricing issues had made the movie business go haywire, the new order is expected to resolve the problems to some extent.

Big-ticket movies like ‘RRR’, ‘Sarkaru Vaari Paata’ and ‘Radhe Shyam’ have their release dates fixed, while the makers of the respective movies are hopeful about a positive footstep by the Jagan government, for them to withstand the ongoing crisis in the movie industry.

On the other hand, the makers of some biggies have announced dual dates for the release of their movies, in a hope that they could fix any of the two given dates after the new ticket prices come into existence in Andhra Pradesh.

Pawan Kalyan and Rana’s ‘Bheemla Nayak’ will be released on either February 25 or April 1, while Ravi Teja’s ‘Ramarao On Duty’ is slated for its release on March 25 or April 15. Varun Tej’s ‘Ghani’ also has two probable release dates February 25 or March 4.

Now, that the AP government is to come up with a positive amendment, it is expected that most of the movies will be released in the summer, which will have a huge impact on the industry’s revenue as a whole.

Radhe Shyam will be unstoppable, says Thaman

Adding more fuel to the anticipations on Radhe Shyam, S Thaman, who has composed the background score for the movie, has said in a video interview that the flick will be unstoppable.

“It is a very good love tale film. I think Radhe Shyam will run for several days, I feel it as an unstoppable film,” he said, ahead of the film’s big ticket release on March 11.

Talking about the movie, he said, “Radhe Shyam took me to a different mood of life, the way I saw people, the way I way met people, the way things happened to me. It is a very good love tale film. I think Radhe Shyam will run for several days, I feel it as an unstoppable film.”

Thaman, one of the top music directors of Telugu cinema, said, “If there is love, if love is true, then Radhe Shyam will be a true (successful) film, that definition I want to give. (Director) Radha (Krishna Kumar) took the film really to a different height.”

Going down the memory lane, he said, “Radhe Shyam is not my cup of tea. Justin (Prabhakaran) did music for it. When I was in the lowest period of my life, when there were no films for me, that time UV Creations’ Vamsi, Pramod and Vicky came in with two films, they gave me Mahanubavadu and Bhaagamathie back to back, they gave me oxygen, so I want to give that gratitude. So I took up Radhe Shaym since I wanted to give that love back.”

And he once again said: “Due to Mahanubavudu and Bhaagamathie, I got many projects. It is all because of UV Creations who gave me second life. So that gratitude I am giving them back.”

Thaman stated, “I am not charging commercially for me (for Radhe Shyam), but whatever the film asking they have spent for it. For Prabhas, I did Saaho trailer (music), For Radhe Shyam they gave me background score. I am really happy with the way the film and the score have come out.”

“Radha told about me in all interviews and stuff. He has done a brilliant film,” he said at the end of the interview. The film directed by Radha Krishna Kumar and produced by Pramod and Vamsi on UV Creations banner will release in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam.

Produced by Vamsi and Pramod for the UV Creations banner, the big-budget movie is all about war between love and destiny.

The story revolves around Vikramaditya (Prabhas), the celebrated palmist with some unique abilities, and the love of his life, Dr Prerna (Pooja Hegde).

The chemistry and emotions between the lead characters are among the highlights of ‘Radhe Shyam’, with the others being the making, narration, visuals and music. Already, the film’s trailer and songs have become a huge sensation.

In the wake of rising Covid cases in the country, the makers of ‘RRR’ had no option but to postpone the release of the magnum opus and now Prabhas’ ‘Radhe Shyam’ too may be delayed.

‘Radhe Shyam’ director Radha Krishna Kumar, who took to Twitter to express his feelings regarding the existing pandemic situation, wrote, “Times are tough, hearts are weak, minds in mayhem. Whatever life may throw at us – Our hopes are always High. Stay safe, stay high – Team #radheshyam.”

To this, one of his followers asked, “Are you indirectly trying to convey that ‘Radhe Shyam’ is to be postponed too?”, to which Radha Krishna Kumar replied, “If there is anything of such, it will be conveyed directly through official handles only”.

This reply of his has triggered more ambiguity regarding the movie’s release. As the director neither denied the postponement nor confirmed that the release would happen on time, so Prabhas’ fans seem to be in a confused state.
