Energetic Star Ram couple of days ago announced that his next film will be an action thriller and is titled RED. The film got its official launch today with a pooja ceremony in Hyderabad. Kishore Tirumala is the director and Ram’s new look already garnered a wide response. Sensational director Puri Jagannadh attended the grand launch as a special guest and wished the team. The regular shoot commences from the mid of November.
Nivetha Pethuraj and Malvika Sharma are the leading ladies and Manisharma is on board to compose the music. Ram’s home banner Sri Sravanthi Movies are the producers. RED will be wrapped up in back to back schedules and will head for summer 2020 release. RED is the official remake of Tamil blockbuster film Thadam.

The details about the lead actors in this multi-starrer will be announced this month. Before starting his second project, an official announcement about the third film of Ajay Bhupathi is announced today.
V Anand Prasad will bankroll this project on Bhavya Creations banner. Though the lead actor’s name is not announced, Telugu360 has exclusively heard that Energetic actor Ram is in talks for the lead role. The project will start rolling next year once Ajay Bhupathi completes his work for Maha Samudram.
Ismart Shankar has ended up its run worldwide with a distributor share of 34.55 Cr. The film is a blockbuster with theatrical rights valued at 17 Cr. It has also emerged as career highest grosser for the hero Ram Pothineni. After a good first week the film has done well even in the following weeks despite competition. There is a drop of little more than 50 percent from Sunday which is quite decent considering the first monday is 5th day rather than 4th. The hold is mixed for the film as some areas have dropped around 60 percent or even 70 but some have dropped around only 40 percent. The film will cross 10cr mark today in Nizam.

There is a drop of 10 percent from second day which is a normal trend for the films which release on Thursday. The film should collect in a excess of 4 cr share today taking extended weekend total to about 20 Cr.

This is the highest opening for a Ram starrer as it has doubled his previous highest Day 1 Share – Hello Guru Prema Kosam Day 1 Share (3.8 Cr). It is also fourth highest opening of 2019 behind Vinaya Vidheya Rama , Maharshi & NTR Kathanayakudu. If you take the worth share in to account, iSmart Shankar has done much better than NTR Kathanayakudu. The film has hit the capacities right from morning shows and theatres were added from matinees to meet the demand. The numbers could have been even higher if the release was properly planned in some centres. The film is carrying decent reports from the audience and is expected to break even by the end of Sunday.

Story :
Shankar ( Ram) alias self-proclaimed ‘UstaadIsmart Shankar’ is a supari killer in Hyderabad.He’s jailed after assassinating the chief minister, and escapes after a year. CBI pursues another high profile case and Shankar’s case in parallel. CBI Officer (Satyadev) dies in a trap incident, the department want his memories to take the case further. A fictional surgery written around Hippocampus memory takes the story to next phase. How double memory Shankar takes on the culprits is the rest of the story
Analysis :
This film scores less on story front, high on energy and entertainment levels. The racy screenplay, Puri’s strength in infusing humor into the scene overcome majority of the shortcomings. For e.g. there is a major story element around the interval block which is potentially a laughing stock but PuriJagan made it acceptable by narrating it in lighter vein.
Right from the title cards movie takes off with loads of energy and continues till the interval. Puri who is famous for eccentric characterization for his hero, found a perfect match to elevate it further. Hero Ram is terrific in his elements and got into the skin of the tapori Shankar character. There were few concerns about his dialect from trailers, but in the film his dialogue delivery is good and appealing to masses. He danced like a magic in title song and his steps in ‘Bonalu’ Song, ‘Dhimakhkharaab’ songs are good as well. Telugu mass audience who have been missing these elements for a while will be entertained thoroughly. Interval raises hope on interesting second half.
Now comes the key part of the film, second half. Even this one takes off smoothly with some comedy but progress in very predictable manner and in revenge format. Story is very pale in second half, but the climax is Okay because of Mani Sharma’s excellent background score.
Heroines NabhaNatesh, NiddhiAgerwal are good fit for their roles. Nabha’s dialogues many of them are straight expletives. Niddhi Agerwal as neuroscientist played a class role, glamour show in one beach song each. Sayaji Shinde, Satyadev played CBI officers roles, they are fine.
Manisharma made his presence felt with commercial hit audio songs, good background score. Junaid Siddique‘s editing is excellent, so is Raj Thota’s cinematography.

Verdict :
Ismart Shankar is a paisa vasool commercial potboiler. Director Puri Jagan and Hero Ram complemented each other well, for Ram this is career best performance. First half is entertaining, but the second half goes flat with very predictive revenge formulaic path. Family audience may find it difficult to adjust to the Puri mark hard-hitting dialogues. This film may work well at Telugu States’ Box office.
Ram starrer I Smart Shankar, directed by Puri Jagannadh, is gearing up for release this Thursday. Even though the trailers and teasers are filled with too much of loudness with excessive mass elements, they have managed to grab the attention of target audience and the openings in B and C centres are likely to be very good.
With just a few days left for the release, it is expected that Ram and his team would go all out to promote the film quite aggressively. However, Ram has skipped promotions and left for a holiday. Reportedly, Ram is US bound for a one month holiday and he won’t be available even for post release promotions. So, Puri has taken the responsibility to promote the film.
Ram planned the holiday long back as the shooting formalities of I Smart Shankar were supposed to be wrapped up in Summer. But, due to some issues, the shooting got delayed. So, he took part in promotions briefly one week before release and headed for a much needed break.
Looking at the first trailer of “Ismart Shankar”, some audiences have felt that the trailer is actually catering only for the ones who love action sequences. To showcase what the film is really about, now Puri Jagan has decided to give a second treat, and it is simply spicy and oora mass romance we have to say.
While some may call Ismart Shankar as a misogynist, but still, if he’s not that bold and rugged, he will not be a Puri Jagan’s hero as you go through this second trailer. And the scene where Shankar wants to hit (?) his wife every day after getting married, explains the core of it. No doubt, this bold romance put up by Ram with his heroines Nabha Natesh and Nidhi Aggerwal is going to sway your mind and heart as well. But then, Puri convinces us with his magic that this intense ‘oora mass’ act could also be love, affection and romance.
Also, Puri explored big time with his one-liners yet again, as he says through Ismart Shankar, “These days honeymoons are happening before actual marriage”, a line which many youths cannot refuse to accept. Ram’s rugged acts mixed with the glamour of heroines and Puri’s oneliners make it a kick-giving cocktail for sure. Another Puri mark dialogue closes the trailer “ Gaa builder kaada flat nokkalE , deenni ( heroine ) andulO pettalE , deenni Bhii NokkalE “ .
Written and Directed by Puri Jagan, Ismart Shankar is hitting cinemas on July 18th, and these two trailers have surely set a sort of expectations.
