Tamil superstar ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay to act in Venkat Prabhu’s next movie

One of the most popular actors of Tamil cinema, ‘Thalapathi’ Vijay, has announced that his next movie would be with acclaimed director Venkat Prabhu.

The movie is tentatively titled “Thalapathy 68” and is slated for release in 2024. The details of other cast and crew are not known at the moment.

In a social media post on Sunday, Vijay said the film produced by Kalpathi S. Aghoram’s AGS Entertainment will have all the ingredients of a movie expected from a young super star of Kollywood. This is the second movie produced by AGS Entertainment after “Bigil”.

The director, Venkat Prabhu, has a distinct style of filmmaking and the movie with Vijay could be a captivating experience for the audience.

This, incidentally, will be the 68th movie of Vijay, whose popularity is ranked only next to the South Indian mega star Rajanikanth. His last movie, “Varisu”, became Vijay’s first to enter the Rs 300-crore club, making it his all-time big hit.

The Venkat Prabhu movie’s music is by Yuvan Shankar Raja, whose experiments were said to have opened the ‘era of remixes’ for Kollywood. This is the second ‘Thalapthy’ Vijay movie where Yuvan Shankar Raja will give the music after “Pudhiya Geethai” in 2003.

Vijay will next be seen in “Leo” directed by ace Tamil director Lokesh Kanagaraj. The movie was shot in Kashmir and features Trisha and Sanjay Dutt in lead roles. The movie is set for an October 19, 2023, release. ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay will also be seen in a cameo in the Shah Rukh-Nayanthara-starrer “Jawan”.

Interestingly Venkat Prabhu becomes one of the select few in Tamil industry to have made films with both Vijay and his on-screen rival in the popularity sweepstakes, Ajith.

Venkat Prabhu has made super hit movies such as “Mankatha”, “Chennai 28”, and “Maanadu”. His latest movie, the Tamil-Telugu bilingual “Custody”, starring Telugu star Naga Chaithanya was released earlier this month.

TDP politburo member Varla Ramaiah, on Friday felt that no power on earth can save Chief Minister, Jagan Mohan Reddy, and his wife, Bharathi Reddy, from the murder case of Vivekananda Reddy.

Ramaiah told media persons at the party headquarters that the YSRCP MP, Avinash Reddy, admitted before the CBI that on the day Vivekananda Reddy was done to death, he spoke to one Naveen and Officer on Special Duty (OSD), Krishna Mohan.

Avinash also admitted that through these two persons he repeatedly made phone calls to Jagan and Bharathi Reddy.

Even after Avinash confessed these facts before the CBI, how can the Jagan couple claim that they are in no way connected with the murder, Ramaiah asked. He demanded Jagan and Bharathi to reveal the facts to the people of the State and what they know about the murder of Viveka.

It will be a blunder if they continue to claim that they do not have any knowledge about the murder, Ramaiah said. They are completely in the know of the things as to who committed the crime, how Viveka was done to death and who is behind the murder, Ramaiah felt.

The crucial evidence in the murder now is what Avinash Reddy conveyed to Jagan and Bharathi over phone on the day Vivekananda Reddy was murdered, Ramaiah felt. Pointing out that Avinash has already admitted before the CBI that whenever he wants to speak to Bharathi he will first give a call to Naveen, the TDP politburo member stated that Avinash also informed the CBI that whenever he wants to speak to Jagan, he will first call the OSD, Krishna Mohan.

Even after the CBI investigation clearly revealed that Avinash repeatedly gave calls to the phones of Naveen and Krishna Mohan on the day the murder took place, how can Bharathi Reddy and Jagan claim that they did not receive any calls, he asked.

On March 15, 2019 at 6.29 am, Avinash was present at the body of Vivekananda Reddy and he resisted the police visiting the spot even when the body was at the spot, he said. Exactly at the same time Avinash repeatedly gave calls, he said and asked whether the calls were given to the Chief minister couple.

Master Craftsman Begins Vijay’s Film

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj delivered a massive blockbuster with his last film Vikram that starred Kamal Haasan. The master craftsman who previously directed hero Vijay in the film Master will be working with the star again for a high-budget actioner to be produced by 7 Screen Studio.

The makers have announced the project officially today, besides revealing the technicians to handle different departments. The film tentatively titled Thalapathy67 started rolling on 2nd of this month and the shooting is taking place at a fast pace.

Anirudh Ravichander will render the soundtrack for the movie, while Manoj Paramahamsa is the cinematographer. Philomin Raj is the editor and Anbariv will choreograph the stunts.

Vijay’s last movie Vaarasudu was released for Sankranti and it was a big hit in both Tamil and Telugu.

Vijay’s Varisu lands into Trouble

Thalapathy Vijay’s next film Varisu is a bilingual and the film will have a theatrical release during the Sankranthi 2023 season. The Animal Welfare Board issued notices to the makers of Varisu for not getting all the proper pre-shoot permissions to shoot with elephants in the film. The makers have been asked an explanation about the same. Five elephants are used for the film shoot in Varisu. Sri Venkateswara Creations will have to submit a full and comprehensive explanation on all the violations within seven days after receiving the letter.

The Animal Welfare Board of India also clarified that necessary action would be taken if the explanation is not sent. Varisu is a family entertainer directed by Vamshi Paidipally. Vijay, Rashmika Mandanna, Sarath Kumar and Prabhu played the lead roles in this film. Dil Raju is the producer and Thaman scored the music. The film is carrying huge expectations and the shooting portions are expected to be completed by the end of this month.

Varisu controversy takes a new Turn

Top Tollywood producer Dil Raju has been facing the heat because of his upcoming movie Varisu. Dil Raju himself called it a Tamil film during the shoot and the Telugu Producers Council asked the producer to allocate theatres for straight Telugu movies like Waltair Veerayya and Veerasimha Reddy. Dil Raju has been tightlipped about the issue and he is busy planning a wide release for Vaarasudu across the Telugu states. The exhibitors too are quite interested to screen Telugu films instead of Vaarasudu.

The Tamil directors and producers are now furious over the move of the Telugu Producers Council. They are in plans to conduct a meeting on November 22nd to discuss about the issue. They feel that Telugu films are given enough number of screens in Tamil Nadu and they are keen to stall the release of Telugu films in the future if Varisu release comes to a halt in Telugu. The Tamil Film Producers will meet to discuss and take a call about the issue. Varisu controversy is taking a new turn. All the three films Waltair Veerayya, Veerasimha Reddy and Varisu are in the final stages of shoot.
