Jagan’s meeting with Amit Shah raises political heat!

0

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy seems to be desperate to meet Union home minister Amit Shah as early as possible.

Jagan tried for his appointment on Monday last but it did not work.

With this, Jagan had cancelled his Delhi trip on Monday.

According to YSRCP sources, Jagan has decided to meet Amit Shah on Thursday (tomorrow).

They say Amit Shah has confirmed his appointment to meet Jagan and for this reason Jagan is rushing to Delhi tomorrow.

Jagan’s meeting with Amit Shah has fuelled speculations that he wants to seek Amit Shah’s help to come to his rescue in bail cancellation case filed against him by YSRCP rebel MP Raghurama Krishnam Raju in the CBI Court, Hyderabad.

The case is pending in the court and expected to come up for hearing next week.

However, YSRCP sources are claiming that Jagan is meeting Amit Shah to seek his help for setting up three capitals for AP at the earliest.

Besides, Jagan wants to seek funds for AP and also the resolution of long pending bifurcation issues.

They say Jagan is also trying to meet union jal shakti minister Shekhawat, defense minister Rajnath Singh etc to take up various issues concerning AP but Opposition parties are spreading rumours that Jagan is meeting them for his bail purpose.

Andhra disburses Rs 370 cr in interest-free loans to 3.7 lakh vendors

1

The Andhra Pradesh government has distributed Rs 370 crore as interest-free loans among 3.75 lakh small business owners and street vendors across the state. Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy launched the second phase of the Jagananna Thodu scheme from the Tadepalli Camp office on Tuesday.

The Andhra Pradesh government had introduced the Jagananna Thodu scheme to provide interest-free loans of Rs 10,000 each to street and small vendors in the state.

These vendors who typically require daily working capital in the range of Rs 2,000 to Rs 5,000 are known to takes loans from moneylenders at exorbitant rates ranging from 3 to 10 per cent per day.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM said, “These small vendors most of the time don’t receive financial aid from banks because of the volatility of the market they represent, even if they do manage to secure a loan from other sources they pay exorbitant rates of interest. During my 3,648 km ‘padayatra’ I saw the circumstances these vendors battle with on a daily basis, I’m grateful for this opportunity to change that with this scheme.”

To improve the incomes of such small businessmen and street vendors, including traditional artisans, the state government decided to provide interest free loans worth Rs 10,000 under the Jagananna Thodu scheme. The main objective of the scheme is to free vendors from paying heavy interest on loans taken from private parties and falling into debt.

As per the scheme, the banks provide loans to all eligible members while the government bears the interest costs by reimbursing the interest amount to beneficiaries.

Phase-1 of the scheme was launched in November last year. The scheme is split into two phases, a cumulative of Rs 905 crore has been transferred into the accounts of 9.05 lakh small businessmen and street vendors in both phases.

Under the first phase Rs 535 crore was disbursed by the banks to 5.35 lakh beneficiaries. The interest reimbursement commitment of the Andhra Pradesh government is Rs 29.42 crore for Phase-1 and Rs 20.35 crore for Phase-2 per annum, resulting in a total of Rs 49.77 crores interest incurred and reimbursed.

Andhra strengthening pediatric system to tackle possible Covid 3rd wave

With experts warning of the possibility of a third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic that could primarily target children, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is focusing on improving paediatric care facilities at the child health care centres and area hospitals, apart from adding paediatric wards to the teaching colleges of the state.

At a Covid review meeting on Monday, the Chief Minister directed the concerned officials to make necessary arrangements for establishing three new paediatric hospitals in Vizag, Kishna-Guntur and Tirupati.

He also said that at the Assembly constituency level, private hospitals offering paediatric care facilities should be empanelled under the Aarogyasri scheme, so that BPL families have access to these facilities when needed.

Is YS Jagan planning to swap a Reddy with another Reddy?

Though quite young, AP CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is surely a past-master in the art of maintaining a caste equilibrium. He ensured a caste balance while appointing five deputy CMs. He managed to achieve caste equations while giving ministers’ posts. In the process, he has annoyed several Reddy claimants like Roja, Chevireddy and others, who wanted to become ministers.

Now with the TTD chairperson YV Subba Reddy’s term coming to an end, he is planning to replace him with another Reddy. Subba Reddy, who is also a close relative of Jagan, was asked to stand down in the 2019 elections to make way for Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy the Ongole MP. This was a big sacrifice for the party. So, Jagan suitably rewarded him with the chairperson post of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam.

Similarly, former Nellore MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy to opted out of the contest in deference to Jagan’s request. Though his son was made a minister in Jagan’s cabinet, Mekapati is without any post of power. So, with YV Subba Reddy’s term as TTD chief expiring on June 23, YS Jagan is said to be mulling over replacing him with Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy.

So, what about YV Subba Reddy? If grapevine is to be believed, he would soon be inducted into the cabinet. With the term of several MLCs soon coming to an end, he is said to be planning to bring YV Subba Reddy into the Legislative Council and then make him a minister. Thus, a Reddy will replace Reddy and the caste balance would be maintained.

Even in the cabinet expansion, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is likely to maintain the caste equations. For instance, a BC minister would be replaced with a BC candidate and a Vaisya with another Vaisya.

Jagan postpones Delhi trip as ministers deny appointments!

0

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s proposed trip to New Delhi on Monday to meet union ministers has been postponed.

Jagan was supposed to leave for Delhi on Monday to meet union home minister Amit Shah, jal shakti minister Shekhawat and few other union ministers.

Accordingly, AP Bhavan officials in New Delhi sought appointment of Amit Shah and few other union ministers.

But union ministers reportedly denied appointment to meet Jagan on Monday citing ‘busy schedule’. They learnt to have told AP officials that they can give appointment for Thursday or Friday.

With this, Jagan reportedly postponed his Delhi trip to Thursday.

Though AP officials claimed that Jagan wants to meet Amit Shah and Shekhawat to seek funds for Polavaram project and resolution of long pending state-bifurcation related issues, it fuelled speculations as meeting comes at a time when a case pertaining to cancellation of bail to YS Jagan is going on in the CBI court, which was filed by YSRCP rebel MP Raghurama Krishna Raju.

The CBI last week filed a counter in the CBI Court leaving the decision to the court to take a decision on whether to cancel or continue the bail to Jagan.

This apart, RRR has lodged several complaints with the Centre on custodial torture by APCID officials last month. Jagan wants to clarify Amit Shah on all these issues.

Andhra CM comes to aid of doctor battling Covid, to foot Rs 1.5 cr hospital bill

1

The Andhra Pradesh government has come to the rescue of a Covid-hit government doctor, who has been battling for life in a Hyderabad hospital and also decided to reimburse his medical bill to the tune of Rs 1.5 crore needed for treatment.

Chief Minister Y.S.Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday also announced that his government will bear the treatment cost of Bhaskar Rao, a medical official in PHC Karamchedu of Prakasam district, who had tested positive for Covid-19.

Rao’s wife Bhagyalakshmi, Assistant Professor, Radio Diagnosis in Guntur Medical College, had also tested positive for the coronavirus.

Both of them were later admitted to GGH, Guntur on April 30, and were administered Remedesivir provided by the government.

With Rao’s condition worsening, he was shifted to Hyderabad for treatment, where the doctors had advised that he should be put on ECMO (Extra corporeal membrane oxygenation) and lung transplant, but he was unable to bear the expenses of Rs 1.5 crore.

After learning about the situation from Minister Balineni Srinivasa Reddy, the Chief Minister directed officials to ensure that the doctor gets good treatment, with the government bearing the cost for the treatment.

Andhra Pradesh Doctors Association thanked the Chief Minister for his gesture.

Association General Secretary Pidakala Syamsundar said the decision has given assurance to the government doctors in the state and also provided them with the strength to fight against the pandemic.

Jagan going to Delhi to meet Shah on Monday?

1

The political heat is rising in the Telugu States amid reports that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy is going to Delhi the day after tomorrow. This time, he is expected to take up the issues relating to the Coronavirus pandemic and the requirements of the AP people.

During the coming visit, Mr. Jagan Reddy is expected to meet with Union Home Minister Amit Shah as well. Only a few days ago, the AP CM sent letters to the Chief Ministers of other States on the need for united efforts for making the Centre take responsibility for vaccination.

Soon, Mr. Raju is going to meet with Amit Shah and then PM Modi as well.

At the same time, the bail cancellation case filed by the rebel MP is going on in the CBI court. Amid these developments, the AP CM’s Delhi visit is generating a lot of political curiosity in the Telugu States.

BJP upset at Jagan taking total credit for YSR Jagananna housing scheme!

1

The BJP leadership is reportedly upset at Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy for taking entire credit for YSR Jagananna housing scheme, which the Jagan launched amid much fanfare on Thursday.

Jagan had announced that his government will construct 28 lakh houses for the poor in the state by spending over Rs 50,000 as part of YSR Jagananna Colonies across Andhra Pradesh.

However, the Jagan government’s contribution to this scheme is meager while Narendra Modi’s government contribution is over 90% as funds for this scheme are contributed under Centre’s Prime Minister Aavas Yojana scheme in rural and urban areas.

For each house, Jagan government is spending Rs 1,80 lakh of which Centre contributes Rs 1.30 lakh and Jagan government just Rs 30,000.

At this rate, the Centre is contributing Rs 48,500 crore while Jagan government is contributing just Rs 1,500 crore to build 28 lakh houses.

Despite all this, Jagan gave build-up as if entire amount is spent by his government and did not take Centre’s name or mentioned in jacket ads issued in all major newspapers on the occasion of launching of scheme on Thursday.

The AP unit of BJP has reportedly took up the issue with party national leadership in Delhi and informed how Jagan misled people by taking entire credit for the scheme sponsored by Centre.

The national leadership reportedly assured them to look into the issue and seek an explanation from the AP government on this issue soon.

CM favouring Gujarat firms to escape from cases: TDP

1

The opposition parties have launched a direct attack on the Jaganmohan Reddy regime on the issue of expansion of Amul Dairy activities in all parts of Andhra Pradesh. The TDP has termed it as a desperate attempt by the Chief Minister to use the good services of the Gujarat based companies to escape from the CBI and ED cases.

Ex Minister Alapati Raja termed it as laughable that Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy was promising to protect the AP dairy farmers’ interests while conspiring to destroy the AP-based cooperative dairies. The CM should answer to the public why his Government was not showing the same sort of enthusiasm to protect the interests of the State’s own dairies. Why was undue patronage given to a dairy company of a different State?

The TDP leaders posed many questions to the ruling party. Why was the Chief Minister showing special love and affection for Amul? Only to save himself from the CBI and ED cases, Mr. Jagan Reddy was handing over all the public properties and private companies of AP to the Gujarat-based industrialists. There was a need to promote the 13 cooperative and 7 private dairies in the State if the Government had any concern for the well being of the AP dairy farmers.

The TDP leader termed it as unfortunate and objectionable that the AP Government itself was spending Rs. 6,551 Cr of public funds to provide basic infrastructure for a private company like Amul.

AP CM ‘unity call’ brings back Hemant Soren episode

0

AP Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s letters to fellow CMs in the country have raised a political storm. It is well known how the AP CM has long been extending unconditional support to the Modi regime at the Centre. Mr. Jagan Reddy was the first and the only CM who criticised Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren for his dig at the Prime Minister.

At that time, Hemant Soren just said that the Prime Minister would have discussed the issue of Coronavirus battle rather than speaking out ‘Mann Ki Baat’. Within a few hours, the AP CM took to twitter, saying that it was not correct on the part of Mr. Soren to criticise Modi at a time when the country was waging a serious struggle with the pandemic.

Now, the same AP CM is appealing to all the other Chief Ministers including Mr. Soren to make united efforts for getting Covid vaccine from the Centre. Mr. Jagan Reddy has said in his letter that the Centre was not giving the required medicine to the States. All the CMs should come together to get proper vax supplies in this regard.

No CM of other States has responded to Mr. Jagan Reddy’s call for unity. Even the Telangana CM is yet to give his response. It is a fact most other CMs have placed advance orders for the vaccines and are not in a desperate situation like the AP CM.

Jagan proposes central management of vaccine supply

1

Reaching out to his counterparts across the country, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday called for collectively urging the Central government ‘to take charge and responsibility’ for the vaccination drive, as was being done earlier.

In a letter addressed to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday, Reddy pointed out that the global tender floated by Andhra Pradesh government, has not received bids. He noted that several other state governments have reported similar experiences.

Reddy said that the lack of bids are being attributed to reasons such as situation evolving into a states versus union government, and central government being the approving authority. Stating that the need of the hour is aggressive vaccination, he called for reverting to the earlier system of vaccine procurement and disbursements by the central government.

“A centralized and coordinated vaccination, supported by the states would lead to wonderful results for the people of India” he concluded while stating that all the chief ministers speak in one voice on the issue.

KCR, Jagan review digital survey of lands at a time!

1

In a strange coincidence, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy held review meetings on Wednesday on undertaking digital survey of lands in respective states with an aim to resolve all land disputes and make Telugu States free from land disputes in future.

While Jagan held review meeting in the morning at his camp office in Tadepally, KCR held meeting at his camp office Pragathi Bhavan in Hyderabad.

Although Jagan launched digital survey of lands in December 2020, it did not make much progress due to Covid second wave.

In the meeting, Jagan has set a target of June 2023 for officials to complete digital survey of entire lands in AP by using most advanced technology.

KCR ordered digital survey of lands on a pilot basis from June 11 in 27 villages in Telangana.

Of this, three villages were selected from CM’s home constituency Gajwel. KCR asked officials to select remaining 24 villages from 24 districts.

After reviewing the outcome of digital survey in these 27 villages, it will be extended to entire Telangana.

Modi reviewed exams but not Jagan: Lokesh

1

The conduct of examinations for the 10th and intermediate students has posed a big challenge for the AP Government. CM Jagan Reddy and his Education Minister Adimulapu Suresh were very adamant from the beginning to hold the exams but the situations were turning adverse in the past two years.

Now, even the Prime Minister has held a review meeting and cancelled the 12th class exams. Mr. Modi took into account the suggestions of the experts on the rising Coronavirus infections. This has brought more pressure from all sections of the AP regime to change its attitude.

TDP MLC Nara Lokesh has sarcastically said that PM Modi found time to review the examinations but not AP Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy.

Mr. Lokesh held an online meeting with the parents and students to collect their opinions. He has been holding these online meetings to pressurise the Government. In the past, they have even challenged the 10th class exams in the High Court of Andhra Pradesh which forced the Jagan regime to postpone the exams.

After the PM’s decision, Mr. Lokesh has renewed his demand for cancellation of all the 10th and inter exams in AP with greater force.

Jagan bail case:CBI plays safe game, Court adjourns case!

0

The CBI Court in Nampally, Hyderabad, on Tuesday adjourned the case pertaining to a petition seeking cancellation of bail granted to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy in illegal assets cases, to June 14.

The petition was filed by YSRCP rebels MP Raghurama Krishnam Raju.

As per the directions of the court last week, both Jagan and CBI have filed their counters,

The CBI in its counter played a ‘safe game’ by neither supporting nor opposing bail to Jagan.

The CBI in its counter left the decision to the court to take a decision whether to cancel the bail to Jagan or not.

The CBI sought court to make a decision based on the merits of the petition.

As expected, Jagan in his counter argued that he had never violated bail conditions and RRR filed the petition for his selfish political interests.

RRR lawyer on the other hand sought time to file their counter on the counters submitted by Jagan and CBI.

With this, the CBI court has adjourned the case to June 14.

Incredible arguments in CBI court in Jagathi case

0

Even the smartest and shrewdest brains will be surprised at how the arguments go on in the courts sometimes. Maybe, this is why so many courtroom drama films and serials are made in all languages of the world. Coming to AP issues, interesting arguments are going on in the CBI court in the cases relating to the AP CM illegal assets cases.

The latest argument by the CM lawyers would certainly bewilder each and everyone. They were now arguing that the Chief Minister had nothing to do with the irregularities in the Jagathi Publications case. The CM lawyers filed a discharge petition urging the court remove the name of Mr. Jagan Reddy from the accused list. The most shocking part of this was that the CM lawyers had told the court that it was Vijay Sai Reddy who had don all these irregularities.

The interesting part of this was that the court allowed such arguments to continue despite the fact that Vijay Sai Reddy was the beneficiary of the MP post. He was stilling continuing in the Rajya Saba member seat which he got with the blessings of the CM alone. Moreover, Vijay Sai was named and almost functioning as the de facto Chief Minister of the North Andhra region.

Obviously, the CBI lawyers would not have put any objections to such arguments considering the influence that the AP regime had on Delhi. One wonders how long such illogical and incredible arguments would continue in such high profile cases.

85% households benefited by schemes in two years: Jagan

1

More than 85 per cent of the households in Andhra Pradesh were benefited by the schemes implemented by the YSR Congress Party government during the last two years, Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said on Sunday.

He said out of 1,64, 68,591 households, 1,41,52,386 households were benefited by one of the schemes of the government, while Rs 95,528 crore has been directly given to the people through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) schemes and another Rs 37,197 crore indirectly through other various schemes like YSR Arogyasri, Jagananna Thodu, Gorumudha, and YSR Sampoorna Poshana etc, totalling to 1.31 lakh crore.

He said that this 1.3 lakh crore has been spent without any scope for corruption with transparency and every scheme has been delivered at the door step of the beneficiaries.

On the occasion of completion of his two years, Jagan Mohan Reddy released a letter and a document highlighting the poll promises fulfilled.

He said he has completed two years in office by the grace of God and people’s support and added that his two years term was satisfactory.

Jagan Mohan Reddy said all these schemes were implemented with the help of every village/ward volunteer, every employee of village/ward secretariats and government employees including district collectors.

He said two documents will be shared to every house through volunteers — the letter written to the women in a family which will have details of schemes benefitting the family and the other containing the details of the election manifesto promises that were fulfilled in the last two years of governance. He said he has considered election manifesto as the Bible, Quran and Gita and worked to fulfill every promise made in it.

Rs 95,528 Cr direct cash benefits given to people: Jagan

0

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy has described himself as a humanistic person who always yearns to do something good for the society and the people. He has submitted his report card to the AP public on the achievements of his 2-year rule. He expressed satisfaction that his Government has succeeded in handing over some or other kind of welfare benefits to over 86 per cent of the total population in the State.

CM Jagan asserted that his 2-year rule has given over Rs. 95,528 Cr direct cash benefits to the people. These amounts were deposited directly into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. In addition to this, another Rs. 36,197 Cr worth welfare benefits were handed over to them under various other welfare programmes.

The Chief Minister said that his Government had delivered total welfare benefits worth Rs. 1.31 lakh Cr. Without seeking any selfish benefits for the ruling party, these huge welfare benefits were delivered to the doorsteps of the people. Of this, over 66 percent of welfare benefits were reaching the women directly.

Mr. Jagan Reddy said that theirs was the only political party that has fulfilled 94.5 percent of the promises made to the people in their manifesto. He prayed to the Gods for all the strength that was needed to do greater things for the people who put so much trust in his leadership.

Opinion: 2 years as Andhra CM see Jagan deftly balance sops with realpolitik

Sunday marks the second anniversary of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s ascent to power as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Despite taking over a state tottering from financial resources crunch, he has been aggressively pursuing a path of providing social welfare.

Reddy rode to power in the 2019 Assembly polls, on the back of a populist agenda that reached out to the poorest and most backward sections of the society.

But even before he could take stock of the situation as the residuary state’s second Chief Minister, the Covid pandemic struck. Ever since, he has been busy fighting the pandemic on the one hand, and ensuring the delivery of his pet welfare schemes to the people on the other.

The ruling YSRCP’s victories in the local bodies elections and in the Tirupati Lok Sabha bypoll have been credited to the welfare schemes under which the state government has directly credited Rs 95,528.50 crore in to the beneficiaries’ accounts, besides indirectly spending over Rs 36,197.05 crore on Sampoorna Poshana, free power to farmers, Goru Muddha and many more schemes, aggregating to Rs 1.31 lakh crore.

Ushering the concept of village and ward volunteers, he ensured that pensions and other welfare services are door delivered, on the first of every month.

The last two years have also seen him locking horns with the opposition TDP and farmers who gave their lands for the capital city of Amaravati. By proposing three capitals — legislative capital at Amaravati, executive capital at Visakhpatnam, and Kurnool as the location for the high court — Reddy literally set the cat among the pigeons.

On the other side of the political spectrum, Reddy has had to contend with the BJP, which regularly brings up his Christian background. Knowing that he has to stay in the good books of the Union government, Reddy has so far largely ignored them.

One of the bigger challenges he faced this year was the series of desecrations or thefts in several Hindu temples of the state — the most high-profile example being that of the unexplained fire which destroyed the temple chariot at the Antarvedi temple.

On the whole, Reddy has adroitly managed to hold his own against seasoned political adversaries like TDP leader and former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, maintaining cordial relations with the Central government led by the BJP, and handling the challenges thrown by the pandemic, even as he remains committed to social welfare schemes, minus the financial resources.
