Akhil Akkineni’s pan-India film ‘Agent’ set for theatrical release in April

Tollywood star Nagarjuna’s younger son Akhil Akkineni’s pan-India project ‘Agent’ is getting ready for its theatrical release on April 28. The movie producers are aiming to cash in the holiday season.

The makers made the release date announcement through a wild action glimpse in which Akhil is tied to a chair and his head is covered with a mask. When he’s asked about the agency he’s working for, he replies, “Osama Bin Laden, Gaddafi and Hitler.” He then goes on to call himself a wild saale and he does looks wild with blood all over his face.

The release date glimpse is brutal and shows the wild side of Akhil’s character. The actor underwent a stylish makeover and will be seen sporting six-pack abs, unit sources said.

Producer Surender Reddy has made this movie completely different from other spy thrillers, they added.

Sakshi Vaidya played Akhil’s love interest, and Mammotty will be seen in a vital role. Rasool Ellore and Hip Hop Tamizha are taking care of the camera and music departments, respectively.

The story for the movie was provided by Vakkantham Vamsi. Produced by Ramabrahmam Sunkara under AK Entertainments and Surender 2 Cinema, National Award winner Naveen Nooli is the editor while Avinash Kolla is the art director.

Ajay Sunkara, Pathi Deepa Reddy are the co-producers of the film which will have a Pan India release in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam languages.

King Nagarjuna is all set to test his luck with an action thriller The Ghost and the film is announced for October 5th release. Telugu360 already revealed that Nagarjuna will work with his son Akhil in his 100th film and Mohan Raja in on board to direct the film. Nagarjuna during his speech in the pre-release event of The Ghost, Nagarjuna confirmed that he would work with Akhil very soon and an announcement will be made this year. “Early this year, I worked with Naga Chaitanya in Bangarraju and the film ended up as a super hit. The film also got a record TRP among my films. Now, I will work with Akhil very soon and the film would be a bigger one than The Ghost and Agent. Will announce the details soon” told Nagarjuna.

Nagarjuna sounded super confident on The Ghost and the actor proposed the makers to release the film in Hindi after he watched the final copy. He appreciated the work of Praveen Sattaru. The Ghost would be an acid test for Nagarjuna as none of the recent films of Nagarjuna did well in theatres. Nagarjuna and Sonal Chauhan played the lead roles in this actioner. Nagarjuna was extensively trained before he commenced the shoot of the film. He will be seen as a NIA Cop in The Ghost. Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP and Northstar Entertainments are the producers.

Classic Pawan Kalyan film titles appear to be in high demand. According to recent speculations, Akhil Akkineni may take the title ‘Thammudu’ for his next film.

Varun Tej, Pawan Kalyan’s nephew, used the title ‘Tholiprema’ a while back, and Vijay Deverakonda has secured the title ‘Kushi’ for his next project with Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Now, it appears that the Akkineni ‘Agent’ would be the next to work on Pawan Kalyan’s old film title.

After his ambitious movie with Allu Arjun failed to take flight due to varied reasons, ‘Vakeel Saab’ director Venu Sreeram shifted his focus to Akhil Akkineni. Committed to making films for Dil Raju’s Sri Venkateswara Creations, for now, Venu Sreeram has apparently got the nod of Akhil Akkineni for his next.

“Venu is toying with the idea of naming his next film with Akhil Akkineni ‘Thammudu'”, an online source stated. Aside from the title, sources reveal little about Venu Sreeram’s film being linked to Pawan Kalyan’s classic film ‘Thammudu’ (1999).

The source goes on to add that Akhil Akkineni-Venu Sreeram film will mostly move to floors after the actor begins his immediate next, which is mostly with a noted Tamil filmmaker.

For now, Akhil Akkineni awaits the release of his highly-anticipated movie ‘Agent’.

The post-theatrical digital streaming rights to Akhil Akkineni’s highly anticipated upcoming film ‘Agent’ have been acquired by Amazon Prime Video. It is expected that an official announcement will be made soon.

‘Agent,’ one of Akhil’s most anticipated films, will feature him in an unusual role as an Interpol officer. Surender Reddy’s directorial debut will also feature Akhil in a fully transformed, rugged look.

Vakkantham Vamsi wrote the screenplay for ‘Agent,’ which is produced by AK Entertainments and Surender 2 Cinema. Mammootty, the Malayalam superstar, will play a pivotal role in ‘Agent.’
