After the debacle off Agent, Akhil Akkineni is on a break and he hasn’t announced his next film. The actor celebrated his birthday abroad along with his family members and returned back to Hyderabad today. Akhil stunned in a new look and he was spotted with long hair and thick beard. The new look caught everyone’s attention and this is surely the best look of Akhil Akkineni till date. The actor is in talks for a big-budget periodic film that will be launched soon. Anil Kumar will make his debut as director and UV Creations will bankroll this expensive project. An official announcement will be made soon.
Akhil’s Film Loading Soon
Akhil Akkineni has delivered some of the biggest disasters of Telugu cinema. His last film Agent was a massive dud and the hard work of the actor was wasted badly. Depressed with the debacle, Akhil took a break from work. He soon gave a nod for an action entertainer to be directed by a debutant Anil Kumar. Though the project was planned to be launched last year, it got delayed due to various reasons. ANR’s Statue Inaugurated
On the 100th birth anniversary of Akkineni Nageswara Rao garu, his family inaugurated the statue of ANR in Annapurna Studios, Hyderabad. BJP leader and Indian Vice President Venkaiah Naidu launched it on the occasion. The entire Akkineni family was present and several celebrities from Telugu cinema were present. Mahesh Babu, Ram Charan, Nani, Mohan Babu, Jayasudha, Brahmanandam, SS Rajamouli, KL Narayana, Gemini Kiran, BVSN Prasad, Gunnam Gangaraju and others were present for the event.
Nagarjuna turned emotional and revealed about the bonding with his father. Nagarjuna also commenced the shoot of Naa Saami Ranga today and the film is aimed for Sankranthi 2024 release.
Buzz: Srikanth Addala to direct Akhil?
Akhil Akkineni is on a break after the debacle of Agent. He returned back from a world tour recently and he is focused on his upcoming projects. Akhil gave his nod for an expensive periodic drama titled Dheera that would be produced by UV Creations. The latest speculation say that Akhil gave his nod for one more film and it is said to be a family entertainer. Srikanth Addala will direct the film and an official announcement is expected to be made soon.
It is not clear if Akhil will shoot for both these films simultaneously or he would wait to complete the project of UV Creations first. Srikanth Addala directed Peda Kapu, an action entertainer and the film will release soon. The distributors wanted Anil Sunkara to compensate for the losses and he promised the same for them. He produced Sree Vishnu’s Samajavaragamana and the film is doing decent business. The film was released through the same distributors of Agent. Anil Sunkara promised that he would compensate for the losses of Agent through his upcoming films.
Anil Sunkara also expressed his confidence on Bhola Shankar, a mass entertainer that has Megastar Chiranjeevi in the lead role. The film is aimed for August 11th release. Anil Sunkara also produced Sundeep Kishan’s Bhairava Kona which is due for release. The veteran producer is not in a hurry now and he is keen to kick-start of all his upcoming films only after locking the bound script. Anil Sunkara will co-produce Adivi Sesh’s Goodachari 2.
More Delay in Agent OTT release
Akhil Akkineni’s Agent turned out to be one of the biggest disasters in the actor’s career, after the film released in April this year. The film was scheduled for digital streaming on May 19th but was delayed as director Surender Reddy started working on the edited version for the digital release. Then again, Agent was rescheduled for June 23rd release and now there seems to be further delay.

Akkineni heroes Nagarjuna, Naga Chaitanya and Akhil are through a tough and bad phase. Nagarjuna delivered a super hit years ago. Naga Chaitanya’s recent offering Thank You is a huge disaster. He did a crisp role in Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha and the film too ended up as a dud. Akhil worked for more than two years on Agent and the film is one of the costliest failures of Telugu cinema. Naga Chaitanya sounded very confident on Custody and the film released yesterday.

The closing gross of the film is a mere 14 Cr. The fact is that the Agent’s closing share is less than the Hero’s Debut film (Akhil: The Power of Jua) opening day share.
Ps2 has a below-par first week in the Telugu States with a gross of 11.6 Cr and distributor share at 5.40 Cr. In comparison, the first-week numbers of P2 are less than the weekend numbers of PS1. The numbers of PS2 worldwide in all languages are less than PS1 and it’s a shocker for a Sequel which is the Industry’s highest grosser.
Akhil off to Dubai
Akhil Akkineni has been struggling for success and he had all his hopes on Agent. The actor spent more than two years on the film and his hard work is clearly visible on screen.
