PM creating Covid awareness but not AP CM: Naidu

2

Former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has launched a stinging attack on the Andhra Pradesh Government on the impending second wave of Coronavirus epidemic. He termed it as unfortunate that while Prime Minister Narendra Modi was raising awareness on physical distancing and mask-wearing, the AP Chief Minister was not talking at all on preventive measures. On the other hand, the AP Government was more interested in reopening the schools, theatres and liquor shops regardless of the threat of infections.

Mr. Naidu made his opening remarks at the ‘apfightscorona’ online forum with Covid warriors and those affected financially. He urged the Government to give equal emphasis to the fight against the deadly virus along with the economic revival measures. It should be noted that AP stood number 2 in the number of infections in the country and number 1 in virus cases per lakh population. A more focused, cluster-based approach would be necessary to effectively prevent the disastrous impact of the 2nd wave infections. There were reports of serious health complications and greater number of deaths in the second attack. In this backdrop, the future socio-economic recovery of any State or Country or a community would depend solely on how best they would take post-Covid management steps. A weekly audit of the status of infections would give an idea to effectively counter the epidemic.

Best approaches from around the world should be adopted for better management like the ones followed by Japan, South Korea and Vietnam. A cluster based approach with greater focus on super spreader groups was the need of the hour. Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) should be followed to give better relief to the people. On the problems of weavers and Godavari flood-hit farmers, Mr. Naidu condemned the attitude of the Government which was behaving as if the people were not facing big problems. In such a crisis situation, the State Governments would have greater responsibility to support the people.

Naidu letter to DGP to restore faith in AP Police

1

Former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday strongly objected to the way the AP Police handled the minor girl molestation case in Rajahmundry that eventually led to the suicide attempt by her father.

Terming it an yet another instance of deteriorating law and order in Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Naidu said that there were continuous attacks on Dalits, tribal people, people belonging to Backward Classes (BCs), Muslims, women and journalists among others. Unfortunately, the police, who are supposed to uphold rule of law, are either conniving with the ruling party or turning a blind eye to injustices occurring across the State.

In a letter to DGP Gautam Sawang here, the TDP chief said that Shaik Sattar consumed poison in front of the office of the Superintendent of Police, Rajamahendravaram, as he faced threats from the accused. Sattar’s minor daughter was allegedly molested by someone who apparently belongs to the ruling YSRCP. The Sattar family lodged a case against the accused vide FIR No. 578/2020 registered under sections 354, 506 r/w 34 IPC, 11 r/w 12 POCSO Act, 2012. Since the accused seems to be from the YSRCP, the police allegedly pressurised Sattar to withdraw the case. Unable to bear the torture, Shaik Sattar tried to take his own life on October 1, ironically in front of an office housing those responsible for protecting it. Sattar is currently battling for life at the Government Hospital in Kakinada. As such, Andhra Pradesh is witnessing deteriorating law and order and violations of the fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution of India which are guaranteed to all citizens.

The TDP chief said that there has been a consistent attack on the freedom of speech and expression as guaranteed by Article 19(1)(a). “As the Leader of the Opposition, it’s my duty to bring such undemocratic acts to your notice for appropriate action. Today, even an iota of dissent expressed against the anti-people policies of the Government readily is leading to witch-hunts, midnight arrests, violent attacks, damages to property and threats. They are unleashing upon the dissenter a vilified character-assassination campaign.” The current functioning of the police in the State is unprecedented in the history of any State. The Andhra Pradesh Police has now earned a dubious distinction of topping the country in the number of cases registered against its own personnel. It is as per the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB). Out of 4,068 cases registered against police personnel across India, 1,681 cases (41%) were registered in Andhra Pradesh alone. These numbers speak for themselves and reflect the functioning of the police in today’s Andhra Pradesh.

Mr. Naidu said that in another incident, the car of Kommareddy Pattabhi, an Official Spokesperson of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) was attacked and damaged on the night of October 3. Even though there is a police picket close by, the culprits are still at large. The act of damaging Pattabhi’s car is a clear attempt at intimidating him and stopping him from raising his voice against the anti-people policies of YSRCP-led Government. This is not the only case and there has been a series of attacks against TDP leaders who have raised their voice against the anti-people policies of the YSRCP-led Government. It was sad that the acts of head tonsuring to humiliate fellow human beings are continuing unabated in the State. Simultaneously, there are attacks on places of worship with seemingly a sinister design. In this backdrop, the YSRCP-led Government, instead of protecting the people, is busy demolishing buildings belonging to dissenters in the dark hours. These incidents have eroded people’s faith in the police. Therefore, the DGP should take steps to restore the law and order situation in the State by allowing the police to discharge their duties impartially and fearlessly. It is crucial to arrest the soaring rate of crimes and to safeguard the fundamental rights of the people. The people of Andhra Pradesh must be assured of an environment free of violence and fear.

What’s this psychoism? Naidu ultimate attack on Jagan

2

Former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has launched a scathing attack on the Jaganmohan Reddy Government on the demolition of public and private property in Andhra Pradesh. His only concern is that right from day one, CM has targetted and demolished structures like Praja Vedika that were constructed during the Naidu regime.

Now, Naidu expressed his wrath and asked what was this psychoism and where was the need for demolishing the house of senior leader Sabbam Hari in Visakhapatnam. He strongly condemned the action of the authorities and asked where the need was for carrying out this demolition during the midnight hours. When a former MP had to face such severe harassment at a personal level, then what about the common public.

Mr. Naidu asserted this kind of cheap and vengeful politics would be resorted to only by incapable and inefficient persons. The TDP would continue its struggle and rally people together to step up the agitation against the countless wrongdoings and atrocities being committed by the ruling party.

It may be recalled that the TDP has been protesting against the demolitions going on in the State ever since the YCP came to power. Within days of becoming the Chief Minister, Mr. Jagan Reddy ordered demolition of the Praja Vedika convention centre which was constructed by spending public funds. There was a huge uproar from all sections of society against the CM taking such unilateral decisions without taking the opinion of even top officials.

Very unfortunately, the Government is yet to clear the debris from the site of demolished Praja Vedika even after 16 months lapsed. Then, there was the decision to shift Capital from Amaravati to Visakhapatnam. Huge constructions were left half-completed and the Government already spent Rs 10,000 Cr on these structures.

Naidu ridicules DGP over “sealed cover” letters

4

Former Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday ridiculed state Director General of Police Gautam Sawang for asking him to refrain from writing letters to the media.

Gautam Sawang asked Naidu to refrain from writing letters to the media and instead write to him in private to help police discharge their lawful duties. “You may kindly write to me in a sealed cover and help the police in discharging their lawful duties and protecting the rights of people at large, thereby maintaining and enforcing the rule of law,” he said.

To this, Naidu lashed out at Sawang stating that if there is a breakdown in law and order should the opposition party write to the police or the ruling party. “Whose responsibility is it to enforce proper law and order in the state? Is it not the duty of the police to ensure that they implement the law of the land in true letter and spirit? How can the DGP ask me to write a letter in a sealed cover. How can he ask me not to write letters to the media,” Naidu questioned.

The TDP president stated that there has been a complete breakdown of law and order in the state ever since the YSRCP rode to power. “In the last more than one year, there has been an increasing attacks on Dalits, temples were being attacked. There is utter lawlessness. The DGP instead of looking into these issues is talking like an opposition party leader and not as the police boss. This attitude is most unfortunate. Several times the DGP was summoned by the High Court, yet the atrocities on Dalits have not stopped,” he said.

Naidu had recently written a letter stating that the attack on suspended judge Ramakrishna’s brother Ramachandra in Chittoor district was planned and sponsored by the ruling YSRCP. In the letter, Naidu alleged that the attack was an attempt to muzzle the voice of suspended Judge Ramakrishna and his brother Ramachandra.

On September 27, Ramachandra was attacked by four unidentified persons when he went to buy fruits at a vegetable market in B. Kothakota. While he was buying fruits, the unidentified persons were traveling in a car. The unidentified persons entered into a verbal duel with Ramachandra and later thrashed him.

Fresh notice served on Chandrababu to vacate Karakatta house

7

The YCP Government tried hard to evict Chandrababu Naidu from his Karakatta residence on the banks of the Krishna river in its first year itself. It could not be possible. However, the ruling party leaders are now making fresh efforts to embarrass the TDP chief. Once again, the YCP has got the opportunity to bring pressure on Naidu. Now, the authorities served a fresh notice asking the inmates to vacate the Chandrababu Karakatta residence in view of the rising floods in the river. This is despite Naidu staying in Hyderabad right now in view of Coronavirus restrictions.

Actually, Naidu residence was located much above even the maximum flood level there. However, everytime there is a flood and regardless of its intensity, the local authorities are serving notices on the TDP chief. This time, a flood of 5 lakh cusecs is flowing into the Prakasam barrage. Officials are saying this flood may rise to 7 lakh cusecs in the next 24 hours. The low-lying lands and interior river islands are facing immediate threat of submersion.

Naidu’s residence is located about five kms upstream of the barrage. TDP says that his residence will not face submersion threat even if there is a flood higher than 7 lakh cusecs.

Now, the Opposition leaders are objecting to the fresh notices being served on Naidu’s residence. The ruling party is continuing its political harassment. Last year also, the YCP leaders used a boat to block flow at the barrage to increase water level near Naidu residence. This was done to get the house vacated. Such mean tactics would not give good results, says TDP.

Naidu’s priority to BCs, Kapus, youth in new LS party posts

2

Former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday announced new presidents for all the 25 parliamentary constituencies in Andhra Pradesh and also about 13 parliamentary coordinators. He has given top priority to BCs, Kapus and young leaders to prepare the party for future challenges.

Nearly 50 per cent of these newly appointed parliamentary unit presidents belong to the BC communities and Kapus. This is in accordance with the TDP’s explicit support and commitment to these sections from the beginning. This is seen as the party’s new approach to the need for balancing different caste and religious equations. It marked a shift from its earlier district-oriented model towards a structure that is closer to citizens across the 25 parliamentary seats in the State.

Of the 25 parliamentary posts, there are only 5 Kamma leaders. This must be seen as a befitting reply to the YSRCP which has been branding the TDP as a “Kamma party” with an ulterior motive to derive political advantage. The 32-year Kimidi Nagarjuna was named for Vizianagaram and Palla Srinivas for Visakhapatnam, belonging to BCs. From the Kapu community, popular leaders former Rajya Sabha MP Thota Seetharama Lakshmi from Narsapuram and senior TDP leader Jyothula Nehru’s son Jyothula Navin in Kakinada have been made parliamentary unit Presidents now.

The TDP new presidents of respective Lok Sabha constituencies are as follows:

Kuna Ravikumar (Srikakulam), Kimidi Nagarjuna (Vizianagaram), Gummadi Sandhya Rani (Araku), Palla Srinivasa Rao (Visakhapatnam), Buddha Naga Jagadeeswara Rao (Anakapalli), Jyothula Navin (Kakinada), Reddy Anantha Kumari (Amalapuram), Kothapalli Samuel Jawahar (Rajahmundry), Thota Sitarama Lakshmi (Narsapur), Ganni Veeranjaneyulu (Eluru), Konakalla Narayana Rao (Machilipatnam), Nettem Raghu Ram (Vijayawada), Tenali Sravan Kumar (Guntur), GV Anjaneyulu (Narasaraopet), Yeluri Sambasiva Rao (Bapatla), Nukasani Balaji (Ongole), Sk Abdul Aziz (Nellore), Narasimha Yadav (Tirupati), Pulivarthy Venkata Mani Prasad (Chittoor), Reddappagari Srinivasa Reddy (Rajampeta), Mallela Linga Reddy (Kadapa), Kalava Srinivasulu (Anantapuram), BK Partha Sarathy (Hindupuram), Somisetti Venkateswarlu (Kurnool) and Gouru Venkata Reddy (Nandyal).

Mr. Naidu has also appointed 13 senior party leaders as coordinators for two to three parliamentary segments. They are as follows:

Kondapalli Appala Naidu (Machilipatnam and Guntur), Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy (Kakinada and Amalapuram), PGVR Naidu (Srikakulam and Vizianagaram), Nimmakayala Chinarajappa (Visakhapatnam and Anakapalli), Pithani Satyanarayana (Narasaraopet and Bapatla), Gadde Rammohan (Rajahmundry and Narsapur), Nakka Ananda Babu (Araku), Dhulipalla Narendra Kumar (Eluru and Vijayawada), Mukku Ugranarasimha Reddy (Tirupati and Chittoor), Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy (Kadapa and Rajampeta), V Prabhakar Chowdary (Kurnool and Nandyal), BT Naidu (Anantapuram and Hindupur) and BC Janardhan Reddy (Ongole and Nellore).

Chandrababu not a Hindu: Kodali Nani explains

3

The exchange of words between Minister Kodali Nani and his rivals on the TTD issue is getting more and more bitter. Even the ruling YCP has left it mostly to Kodali to continue his attacks on the opponents. Now, Nani has made an ultimate attack on Chandrababu Naidu and listed out several reasons why Naidu is not a Hindu.

The reasons given by Nani are that Chandrababu did not lit the funeral pyre of his parents. Also, Naidu has not got tonsure ever at Tirumala temple. Moreover, the Naidu couple carried out puja at Seven Hills with their left hands. Finally, the Minister has confirmed that Naidu is not a Hindu if his activities are taken into consideration.

Obviously, the YCP is not yielding a bit on the issue of ‘declaration’ to be submitted at TTD temple. The Chief Minister has not spoken a single word on this. But, the MLAs and Ministers surrounding him are strongly mounting their attacks asking why the CM should sign in the ‘declaration’ when the TTD itself invited him to present the sacred silken robes.

On its part, the BJP has intensified its criticism saying that Kodali Nani’s anti-Hindu and anti-Balaji comments will be treated as those made by the Jagan Reddy Government. BJP leader Vishnu Vardhan Reddy demanded immediate dismissal of Kodali Nani for his continued absurd and inflammatory comments against Hindu devotees and sadhus.

11 temples attacked, who is responsible: Naidu

3

Telugu Desam Party president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu condemned the growing attacks on Hindu temples.

At a press conference in Hyderabad, Naidu said ever since the YSRCP rode to power, at least 11 temples were vandalized. His comments come in the wake of three silver lion statues of affixed to the chariot of the famous Kanaka Durga temple in Vijayawada inside the Mallikarjuna Mahamandapam went missing.

“Today, the Hindu temples have come under attack. Tomorrow, churches and mosques could be attacked. Who is responsible for such vandalism and arson in the state? Isn’t the state government responsible,” he questioned.

Naidu said earlier the TTD Board had proposed to auction the temple assets but backed out due to the pressure exerted by the opposition parties and growing dissent from the people against the government. Naidu also fired at the state government for carrying advertisements “Holy Jersusalem tour” for Christians in the state and ads on the annual Haj pilgrimage printed on the back of Tirumala bus tickets. “All these issues have hurt the sentiments of Hindus. The state government has been ignoring these issues. I wonder what Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy is doing. Why is he silent over these issues,” he questioned.

Somu Veeraju under house arrest, Naidu tweets on Antarvedi incident

3

Andhra BJP president Somu Verraju was placed under house arrest as he planned to visit Antarvedi where a century-old chariot burnt in a suspicious fire accident.

The BJP leader lashed out at the Andhra Pradesh government over attacks on Hindu temples and that the current dispensation was not serious about addressing the issues related to attacks on the Hindu temples. He said ever since the YSRCP rode to power, the government has been funding the construction of churches and the attacks on the Hindu temple have increased.

Stating that the government was playing with the emotions of the people of Andhra Pradesh, Lanka Dinakar, another BJP leader, demanded a probe into the burning of the Antarvedi temple chariot. The chariot of the famous Sri Lakshmi Narasimha temple in Antarvedi of East Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh was gutted in a fire mishap on September 6.

He said the attacks on Hindu religious sites are on the rise in the state and accused Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy’s government for not taking it seriously.

Meanwhile, former CM and TDP president Chandrababu Naidu demanded a CBI probe into the incident. “Andhra Pradesh has been a progressive, pluralistic State where all faiths have thrived & co-existed peacefully. However, under the tyrannical YSRCP regime, people of AP are now fearful of a continuous state-sponsored attack on their faiths. More than 20 such attacks have occurred,” the former CM tweeted.

“From charring of sacred chariots at Antarvedi & Bitragunta to idols being demolished at Pithapuram, from attacks on priests like Devarampadu incident to propagation of other religions under TTD mgmt & illegal takeover of Simhachalam temple board there seems to be a pattern,” Naidu said in another tweet.

Antarvedi incident attack on Hindu religion: Naidu

12

TDP president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed anguish over the growing attacks on idols of Hindu temples across the state ever since the YSRCP rode to power.

The TDP president demanded a judicial probe into the burning of Antarvedi temple chariot in East Godavari. He said there was a larger conspiracy to defame Hindu religion and the chariot fire mishap was not a mere accident. He suspected the hand of anti-social elements and sought a thorough judicial inquiry into the incident.

Naidu said the fire mishap at the Antarvedi Lakshminarasimha Swamy temple is not an isolated case. Similar incidents occurred at various temples in the state, including Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy temple. He said several idols were destroyed in temples across the state in the more than one year rule of Jagan Mohan Reddy. Naidu said this is a clear case of an attack on Hindu religion.

Naidu unhurt as 2 convoy vehicles involved in accident

1

Two vehicles in former Andhra Pradesh chief minister and TDP president Chandrababu Naidu’s convoy were involved in an accident on Saturday in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, but he escaped unhurt.

The incident occurred near Dandu Malkapuram in Choutuppal mandal on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway when Naidu was on his way to Hyderabad from Vijayawada.

The driver of an escort vehicle applied the brakes when a cow came in front of the convoy, due to which a vehicle carrying NSG personnel rammed into a jammer vehicle. The vehicle’s front portion was damaged but no one was injured.

Naidu’s car was following the vehicle involved in the accident. He was left standing on the road for about 15 minutes.

A spare vehicle was arranged for the National Security Guard (NSG) personnel, after which the convoy resumed its journey.

Earlier in July 2019, an Armed Reserve Sub-Inspector of Police and a Home Guard suffered minor injuries after the vehicle, which was part of convoy of former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, met with a minor accident at Gonipenta bridge in Penukonda mandal of Anantapur district.

AP Police issue summons to Chandrababu Naidu

2

Former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is raising non-stop suspicions on the role of the police in tampering with the evidence in the sensational Om Prathap death case in Chittoor district. Coming under heavy pressure, the police issued summons to the TDP chief to appear before them with evidence. Madanapalle Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) issued the notice under CrPC Section 91 to Mr. Chandrababu Naidu to appear before him and produce evidence within two weeks time.

The police referred to the August 27 media reports on Naidu’s letter to DGP Gautham Sawang in which the TDP chief asked several questions on why the CI took away the cell phone of the deceased Om Prathap when no case was filed at that time. Mr. Naidu had also raised serious allegations and made serious accusations against the police for not revealing the call lists details of the victim. The TDP was saying that a check of call lists would reveal which ruling party leaders had issued life threats to Om Prathap prior to his death.

Now, the police seemed embarrassed thoroughly and went ahead with their usual tricky methods by issuing summons to none other than the former chief minister to appear before them in person. Actually, the TDP chief was making demands more than raising suspicions. What he demanded was a thorough check of call lists and also reason for the CI taking away the cell phone of Om Prathap.

It was evident how there would be no need for proof of Om Prathap’s accusations against the YSRCP Government’s liquor policy since his video was available on social media everywhere.

Naidu writes letter to DGP on breakdown of law & order in AP

3

Telugu Desam Party president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday dashed off a letter to state Director General of Police (DGP) Gautam Sawang stating that there is a complete breakdown of law and order in the state.

In the letter, Naidu pointed out that the ruling YSRCP government is victimizing Opposition leaders by foisting false cases, especially against leaders belonging to the backward communities and Dalits.

In the letter, Naidu appealed to DGP to act impartially and ensure that the ruling YSRCP leaders stop political terror and attacks on opposition political party workers and supporters. He asked the DGP to make sure that the people are not barred from exercising their democratic right, including the right to protest or voice their opinions and those who attacked opposition demonstrations are booked and apprehended without delay.

Naidu also brought to the notice of the DGP that there has been an increasing attack on journalists across the state, while citing the assault on scribes in Tuni, Nellore and Chirala. In the letter, Naidu also stated that YSRCP minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy’s men attacked the house of journalist Venkata Narayana and vandalized his property in Punganuru. Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy’s men also threatened to douse the family with petrol and burn them alive. “This was in retaliation for exposing Om Pratap’s death and YSRCP sand mafia. Two Dalit youths M Narayana and Om Pratap have died under mysterious circumstances in Punganuru,” Naidu pointed out in his letter.

Naidu also stated that the YSRC government was trying to cover up atrocities against Dalits by using threats and inducements against the victims’ families.

Is Ramesh Babu hiding in your house: Vijayasai asks Naidu

6

Just days after recovering from Covid-19, YSRCP Congress MP Vijayasai Reddy is back at unleashing a war of words on Twitter.

On Monday, the Rajya Sabha MP took to his Twitter handle to take on TDP chief and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

Reacting to the Swarna Palace fire mishap that had left at least 10 Covid-19 patients dead, Vijayasai Reddy asked if Naidu has given shelter to Ramesh Hospital MD Pothineni Ramesh Babu at his residence in Hyderabad or if he is hiding in TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh house.

Further, Vijayasai Reddy asked the connection Naidu has with both Pothineni Ramesh Babu and state election commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar. “Naidu must make it clear the connection he has with the two.Ramesh Kumars. You should come clean on this,” Vijayasai Reddy commented rather sarcastically.

On July 20, Vijaysai confirmed on Twitter that he had decided to quarantine himself for a week to 10 days.

YSRCP MP and close confident of AP Chief Minister, VijayaSai Reddy has placed himself under home quarantine, four days after he was tested for COVID. The parliamentarian took to a social networking site to disclose the news. “In view of the COVID situation I have decided to quarantine myself for a week to ten days as a mark of abundant caution, I will not be available on telephone except for emergency,” Vijayasai wrote in his Twitter account.

With complete recovery from Covid-19, Vijayasai is back with a bang unleashing a volley of questions and diatribe against Naidu.

Vijayasai Reddy’s comments come in the wake of search warrant issued against Ramesh Babu who had been absconding ever since the fire mishap incident in Swarna Palace which was taken on lease by the Ramesh Hospital, a designated Covid-19 hospital.

The Vijayawada police had announced a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh to anyone who would provide information about the people who are absconding in the Swarna Palace fire mishap that claimed the lives of 10 patients and caused injuries to 18 others.

Naidu tears into Jagan, says govt has put AP in disastrous path

10

Listing out the achievements of the previous TDP government when he was the chief minister, TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep anguish that the YSRCP government under Jagan Mohan Reddy has put Andhra Pradesh growth and development in a reverse gear with his lopsided policies and vindictive politics.

In a video-conference, the TDP president stated that his government made sincere and committed effort to develop Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Tirupati as mega cities, but in the last one year development in the State had gone back at least 25 years backwards in the wake of disastrous and “reverse” policy decisions of Jagan Mohan Reddy. “The TDP government had turned Visakhapatnam as the major hub for manufacture of medical devices in the country, meeting the requirements of the domestic market as well as the export market. The AP Medtech Zone was our brainchild. The park today is a major boost to the medical devices segment in the healthcare industry,” he stated.

Naidu, who is credited with making the undivided Andhra capital Hyderabad into an IT hub two decades ago, pointed out that during the TDP regime efforts were made to turn Vizag into a major fintech hub in the country. “I tried to create the right eco-system for IT companies in Visakhapatnam. Industry, both IT and manufacturing sectors, witnessed rapid growth. I wanted to make Visakhapatnam not only India’s capital for fintech or blockchain technologies, but a centre of excellence for the global community. Vizag was being developed as an innovation valley and we wanted to put the port city among the top three fintech centres in the world. Fintech is one of our initiatives which has attracted world-class companies. If a Fortune 500 company like Franklin Templeton Investments had chosen to set up a centre in Vizag, it is because of our efforts,” Naidu reminded.

The TDP president also recalled that he had invited Microsoft founder Co-Chair of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Bill Gates to Visakhapatnam for AP AgTech Summit 2017. “UAE-based Lulu Group had agreed to invest Rs 2,300 crore to develop an international convention centre, shopping mall and a five-star hotel in Visakhapatnam. This government has cancelled various projects. Lulu Group has announced that it will never invest in Andhra Pradesh. Several companies, overseas investors and industrialists expressed interest in investing in Andhra Pradesh when the TDP governed the state. Today, several investors are unhappy and scared to invest in AP. How will this government think of overall development of the state with such an unfriendly business climate,” Naidu questioned.

Naidu said Wal-Mart had come forward to help Andhra Pradesh in five fields. Wipro had assured to expand its Santoor soap manufacturing unit at Hindupur in Anantapur district. PepsiCo had set up its unit at Sri City in Chittoor district. “At least 90 industries were set up in Sri City. We have invited several companies to invest in Sri City. We have envisioned Chittoor-Tirupati as South India’s leading automobile hub. We have attracted major investments from Hero Motors, Apollo Tyres, Isuzu Motors India, Ashok Leyland, Bharat Forge and several other companies. We could bring global recognition to AP because of our business friendly policies. We have attracted investments worth crores of rupees. We have signed Rs 16 lakh crore worth MoUs with various stakeholders. What did this government do in the last one year. How many companies have invested in the last one year,” Naidu asked.

AP had received recognition for creating a benchmark in IT, Electronics & Communication Technology and Innovation, endowed with high quality state-of-the-art infrastructure, skilled human resources, and business-friendly policies, he said.

The TDP said the previous government had envisioned 66 projects of which at least 22 projects were completed. Naidu said the TDP government pioneered in the concept of inter-linking of all major rivers from Vamsadhara to Penna to address the water needs of the state and its people.

“Telugu Desam government worked towards making Andhra Pradesh drought-proof by linking the rivers in the state and providing drinking water and irrigation water to all the regions. Polavaram project is the lifeline of Andhra Pradesh people. 72 per cent of the Polavaram project work was completed. The TDP government had almost completed the Handri-Neeva and Galeru-Nagari projects for Rayalaseema, but the present government has not spent a single rupee in the execution of the remaining works. Godavari and Krishna had been linked by taking up the Pattiseema lift irrigation scheme. We executed works to link the Godavari and the Penna. This government has now put the interest of Andhra Pradesh at a stake,” Naidu rued.

48 hour deadline over, Naidu asks people to intensify protest over Amaravati

As the 48 hour deadline set by TDP president to dissolve the Assembly ended, former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday gave a clarion call to the people to intensify their protest against the Andhra Pradesh government’s move to shift the capital to Vizag from Amaravati.

Naidu once again challenged Jagan Mohan Reddy to seek a fresh mandate if he had the courage and if he was fully confident of having total approval of the people for his three capitals move.

“We are ready to resign. Do you have the guts to quit and go to people again to seek votes on three capitals issue,” Naidu questioned.

He vowed to stand by the farmers and five crore people of Andhra Pradesh. The TDP will continue agitations and legal battle against the three capitals and called upon the people to come forward to safeguard the interests of the State.

The TDP chief appealed to the central government to intervene and stop the Jagan government from shifting the capital to Vizag although the state BJP had made it clear that it was a state subject and that the center has no role to play.

Naidu recalled the statements given by Jagan and YSRC leaders prior to 2019 Assembly polls that Amaravati would continue as the only capital of the State. After making that promise, the Chief Minister has no right to shift the capital without the approval of five crore people of the State, Naidu asserted.

Earlier, Naidu gave 48 hours time to Andhra Pradesh government to respond to his demand on seeking re-election. On Wednesday, Naidu has has once again fired at Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy asking why the YSRCP did not include the three capitals issue in its manifesto.

Naidu reminded that the YSRCP in its 2019 election manifesto assured the five crore people of Andhra Pradesh that the party would continue the state capital in Amaravati alone and that it would be fully developed. The Andhra Pradesh Assembly unanimously adopted the resolution that Vijayawada region will be the capital region of the state. Naidu hoped that the Centre will put a brake to AP government’s move to develop three state capitals — an executive one in Visakhapatnam, a legislative one in Amaravati and a judicial one in KurnooL.

Addressing a virtual press conference, he charged that the Chief Minister went ahead with his three capital plan without discussing or taking the people into confidence.

“The three capitals was not mentioned in the YSRCP manifesto. Jagan on several occasions also stated that Amaravati will remain the capital. He decided the farmers of the state and aspirations of five crore people,” Naidu stated.

To buttress his point, Naidu had played the videos of Jagan, Alla Nani and several YSRCP leaders who vowed to retain Amaravati as the capital ahead of 2019 elections.

Further, the TDP president also reminded that the previous government had built buildings for Assembly, Secretariat, High Court and Raj Bhavan. “72 per cent work on MLA and MLC quarters was completed. Nearly Rs 9,000 crore was spent on all the works. Today, Jagan has thrown a spanner on all the good work done by our government,” he said.

Naid also recalled that YSRCP Mylavaram MLA Vasanta Krishna Prasad, who hails from Krishna district, had even threatened to quit from the party if the capital was shifted to Vizag from Amaravati.

“The YSRCP party had hidden its agenda to shift the capital from Amaravati. The YSRCP made the people of Andhra Pradesh to believe that the capital would be retained in Amaravati, but after getting a massive mandate the party has deceived and betrayed the people who voted them to power,” Naidu fumed.

Chandrababu opts for virtual agitation after HC status quo?

2

TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu is actually expected to announce his future course of action regarding mass agitation at 5 p.m. today. His earlier 48-hour deadline will expire by that time. But, the High Court status quo order on Amaravati Capital shifting has changed Mr. Naidu’s plans a little bit. Now, the legal battle has acquired greater significance.

The legal experts are saying that the status quo is a serious order. As per this, CM Jagan Reddy cannot play around the legal issues any longer. The CM cannot also move the Capital even an inch now. It would be a serious contempt of court if Jagan Reddy tries to go to Visakhapatnam and function there from August 15.
Accordingly, Mr. Naidu has told his party leaders and think tank that for the time being, the agitation need not be intensified on a mass scale. Instead, the legal battles should be intensified. At the same time, the virtual agitations should be continued against the Capital shifting. The TDP leaders and activists would continue to register their online protests from all over the State.

The TDP is also considering involving more and more stakeholders in the legal fight. The active struggle launched by the farmers and Amaravati JAC has yielded good results. It has now become clear that the Government cannot escape from its responsibility to develop Amaravati in fulfilment of the terms of agreements reached with the farmers.

Criminals running riot: Naidu writes to AP DGP

1

Former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday wrote a letter to DGP Gautam Sawang, expressing concern over deteriorating law and order even as the criminals were running riot in Andhra Pradesh.

Mr. Naidu demanded immediate action against the culprits responsible for the murder of tribal woman in Nakarekal and the gang-rape of another tribal woman in Veligodu mandal. Despite several appeals, effective steps were not being taken against the criminals. As a result, the crimes and atrocities were rising unchecked all over the State day by day. There was no safety and security to the lives, property and self-respect of the people any more. The offenders were feeling as if there was nobody to restrain them.

The TDP chief deplored that on the day of Raksha Bandhan itself yesterday, the offenders had molested and killed tribal women. It was inhuman to kill tribal woman Mantru Bai by running a tractor over her in Guntur district. In Kurnool district, another tribal woman was gang-raped in front of her husband’s eyes. Only after the tribal associations started an agitation, a case was filed against the accused.

Mr. Naidu recalled that a minor girl was gang-raped by 12 persons and then left near the police station. In just over 14 months, atrocities were committed on over 400 women and girls. Gang-rapes were committed in over 15 places. About 8 women were murdered. Over 6 persons committed suicides unable to face humiliation.

Mr. Chandrababu Naidu said the life became difficult for the BC, SC, ST and Muslim minorities. The ongoing atrocities in AP were an example of what would happen if some sections in police force fall prey to inducements and corruption in collusion with the political bosses. Tall claims were being made about Disha Act and Disha police stations but there was no instance of taking any deterrent punishment against the culprits anywhere so far.

Quit, seek re-election on Amaravati: Naidu dares Jagan

Forrmer chief minister and TDP president Chandrababu Naidu on Monday threw a challenge at Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy to seek re-election as a referendum on the three capitals issue.

Naidu challenged the YSRCP leaders to resign and seek fresh voting on Amaravati. He said the TDP leaders, including himself are ready to resign and seek re-election. “We are ready to quit. Will you also resign and seek a fresh vote on Amaravati and your unwise decision to create three capitals,” Naidu asked.

Naidu said Jagan Mohan Reddy has betrayed the farmers by announcing that the capital will be shifted to Vizag from Amaravati. He reminded Jagan that he once spoke in favour of Amaravati as only capital of the state on the floor of the Assembly when he was the Opposition leader prior to 2019 elections. But, after coming to power, the chief minister reversed his decision . “This is betrayal. The dreams of five crore people of Andhra Pradesh remain shattered and farmers aspirations have been butchered by this chief minister,” Naidu criticized.

Naidu termed it as a historic blunder AP Governor’s stamp of approval to the Decentralisation and Inclusive Development of All Regions Bill and the CRDA Repeal Bill. The TDP slammed the chief minister for the proposed three capitals move stating that it was an unlawful decision in violation of the AP Reorganisation Act 2014.

The TDP leader pledged his support to the farmers and stated that his party will join the agitation in response to the call given by the Amaravati Joint Action Committee all over the State. He also appealed to intensify the agitation against ‘vicious and atrocious’ capital shifting.

If you have guts, take up Naidu’s challenge: Yanamala to Jagan

Former finance minister and TDP floor leader in the State council Yanamala Ramakrishnudu asked Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to take up the open challenge thrown at him by TDP president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and seek re-election by dissolving the Assembly over the three capitals issue.

In a statement, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu asked the Andhra Pradesh government if it had the guts to dissolve the Assembly and go for re-election over the three capitals row as demanded by Naidu.

“Will the YSRCP take up the challenge and dissolve the assembly? Naidu gave 48 hours time, will the Jagan party respond to it and seek re-election on the Amaravati and trifurcation of the state. If the Jagan government thinks creation of three capitals is a wise decision, let it go to people and see its opinion by going for re-election,” Yanamala stated..

The TDP floor leader in the State council asked the YSRCP government to elicit public opinion and know what people were thinking about the proposed trifurcation of the capital before taking any decision that would have far-reaching implications for the State.

Yanamala Ramakrishnudu further reminded the YSRCP leadership that the TDP government had decided to set up capital in Amaravati as per the Sivaramakrishnan Committee’s recommendations, and pointed out that the Act envisaged development of a single capital city, but not three capitals as mooted by Jagan Mohan Reddy.

He also said the capital formation is not a state subject, but wrested with the Central government reminding that the three capitals cannot be possible without making amendments to the AP Reorganization Act, 2014. “The decision on three capitals solely wrested with the central government since AP Reorganization Act was enacted by Parliament,” the senior TDP leader reminded.

The government has no concern for the farmers who have been demanding that Amaravati be retained as the capital. When Jagan Mohan Reddy was the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly he supported Amaravati as the capital. But he made a U-turn after riding to power. This clearly shows that Jagan has betrayed the farmers and the people of Andhra Pradesh. Jagan is a tughlaq. The trifurcation of the state has become the biggest joke in the country,” Yanamala commented.

Naidu blames Govt for death of Amaravati farmer

1

Former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has accused the YSRCP Government of causing endless misery and painful deaths to Amaravati Capital City farmers by following unconstitutional policies. He blamed the Government’s 3 Capitals plan for the latest death of Nannapaneni Venkateswara Rao who took part in the Capital city protests till yesterday. Today morning, the farmer was found dead due to a heart attack. Till now, over 65 Amaravati farmers and farm coolies died painful deaths amid heatless treatment meted out by the ruling party leaders.

The TDP president, in a Twitter message, deplored that farmer Venkateswara Rao had given away all his 4 acres of ancestral lands for building a good capital city for AP state as a whole. But, he was subjected to harassment and anguish leading to his eventual death.

Mr. Naidu said even though the farmers were succumbing one by one, there was nobody from the side of the Government to come and console the bereaved families. The ruling party was following oppressive policies to break the hearts of the farmers and local residents.

It may be recalled that the Amaravati protests reached a new peak ever since the AP Governor signed the 3 Capitals and CRDA Repeal Bills. The farmers have been agitating and coming on to the roads along with women, youth, farm coolies and local residents vowing to intensify their agitation against CM Jagan Reddy’s Capital shifting plans.
