0

Young actor Dhanush is riding high on the super success of his Asuran. The actor’s performance received critical acclaim from all the corners. The actor is all set to test his luck with Pattas which is in the final stages of shoot. Seems like Dhanush is all set to compete and clash with his Superstar father-in-law Rajinikanth. Dhanush’s Pattas will hit the screens during Sankranthi 2020 along with Rajinikanth’s Darbar as per the latest update. Rajinikanth already completed shooting for Darbar in the direction of AR Murugadoss.

Durai Senthilkumar is the director and some crucial episodes on Dhanush, Mehreen and Sneha will be canned with which the entire shoot of Pattas will be wrapped up. Completing all the post-production work, Pattas will hit the screens during Sankranthi. But there would be a gap of 2-3 days between the two films during the holiday season. With January being a holiday season, there would be two big releases. This time, Superstar and his son-in-law are all set for a clash.

Lyca Productions are producing Darbar while Sathya Jyothi Films are bankrolling Pattas.

Dhanush seamlessly wears actor-director hat: Aditi Rao Hydari

0

Actress Aditi Rao Hydari, who is returning to Tamil cinema with a project directed by and co-starring Dhanush, says he is effortless in managing both the fields.

On her experience of collaborating with Dhanush for the first time, Aditi told IANS in an interview: “This is his second directorial and one should see how effortlessly he is directing the film and playing the protagonist as an actor. He is such a multitasker. I must say that Dhanush wears the hat of director and actor pretty seamlessly.”

“Though all actors do not make good directors, Dhanush is really one of the finest. He knows exactly how to direct an actor to extract the performance the way he wants it. Perhaps that is happening because he is a performer himself,” added the actress, who started her career in Bollywood with the film “Yeh Saali Zindagi” in 2012.

Aditi essayed the pivotal role of Begum Mehrunisa in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Padmaavat” and has acted in films like “Delhi-6”, “Rockstar”, “Wazir”, “Fitoor”, “Daas Dev” among others.

Now she is constantly balancing her Bollywood projects along with her work in regional films. She even had a role in Tamil film “Chekka Chivantha Vaanam”.

The upcoming yet untitled film with Dhanush is quite challenging for her to shoot since it is a bilingual in Tamil and Telugu.

“Dhanush is very passionate about cinema and working with a great team which has made me really comfortable despite the challenge of not knowing the language, I am very happy to go on the set everyday.

However, she said: “Such passionate directors really gives actor challenge. There are days when I just feel like crying because as a performer I am pushing the envelope and do not know if I will be able to match up the expectations. But when we get it right, that’s a different kind of happiness.”

Would like to spread positivity through cinema: Dhanush

From a reluctant actor to a multi-faceted artist, Dhanush has come a long way in his 17-year-old career. Basking in the success of his latest Tamil release “VIP 2”, he says he would like to spread positivity, love and hope through his movies.

Dhanush recalls: “(As a 16-year-old) I was forced into acting by my father. I was not qualified to be an actor and my heart was into so many other things. I never expected I could come this far. It does surprise me.”

He made his acting debut in 2002 Tamil film “Thulluvatho Ilamai”, directed by his father Kasthuri Raja.

His second film, “Kadhal Kondein”, which released a year later, was helmed by his brother Selvaraghavan.

“I was like raw iron. My father and my brother moulded me and I still don’t know what they identified in me which I couldn’t figure out myself. People who identify their calling are lucky. In my case, I consider myself blessed because my calling identified me,” Dhanush told IANS in an interview here.

Dhanush has since evolved not just as an actor but has successfully donned multiple hats as a writer, singer and director as well.

Coming from a family of writers and directors, he says it was natural he took a liking to writing.

“I have been writing for over a decade but initially most of my work was immature. I learnt the craft as I started working with different directors. It was in 2010-11 that I took writing seriously and focused on full-length scripts, screenplays and dialogues,” he said.

Dhanush’s passion for writing eventually paved the way for him to direct “Power Paandi”, which released earlier this year and did wonders at the box office.

Talking about his style of writing, he said he draws a lot of inspiration from real-life events.

“Most scenes in the first part of ‘VIP’ were based on events which I saw and read about. I like the kind of writing that’s easily relatable, emotionally rooted and that’s something which easily connects with the masses. I also like to spread positivity and love through my writing in my films,” he said.

Asked who inspires him as a writer, Dhanush said: “I’m a huge fan of Rajkumar Hirani. His films send out so much positivity. It makes us believe life is positive and full of hope. Maybe that’s why you don’t find villains in his movies. The world needs positivity and Rajuji is doing his bit my spreading it through his movies.”

You could sense Dhanush really means he wants to send out positivity when he talks about the mixed reactions to “VIP 2”, which was criticised by a section of critics.

He views the mixed response from a positive standpoint.

“‘Power Paandi’ received rousing response from critics and audiences alike. When I could accept it, I should also have the maturity to accept the mixed reactions for ‘VIP 2’. The critics can be right sometimes and the audiences can also be right on some occasions. We need to learn to accept both,” he said.

With a bevy of Tamil projects such as “Enai Noki Paayum Thota”, “Maari 2” and “Vada Chennai” in his kitty, Dhanush is looking forward to his Bollywood reunion with Anand L. Rai next year.

In 2013, Dhanush made his Hindi debut with Rai’s “Raanjhanaa”, which even earned him the best debut Filmfare award.

Talking about his Bollywood sojourn, he said: “I don’t plan my career and let things happen organically. I let things fall in place and then do it with all my heart. You should meet the right people at the right time. That’s how Bollywood happened.”

Did he also wait for things to fall in place for the Hollywood project “The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir”?

“I had turned down three Hollywood projects before this one. I was floored by the script of this film. I play a street-magician, and it’s another film that spreads a lot of positivity,” he said.

Lot of responsibility with ‘VIP-2’, says Soundarya Rajinikanth

0

Director Soundarya Rajinikanth, who is helming the second installment of the popular film “Velaiilla Pattadhari”, says there was a lot of responsibility that came with taking on the project.

“Velaiilla Pattadhari”, which released in 2014, was directed by Velraj.

“I think there was a lot of responsibility that came taking on this project. The part one was a huge success so I think when it comes to a sequel, they will expect the elements of part one to be there and continuing in part two as well,” Soundarya told IANS in a group interaction here, while promoting “VIP-2”.

“I don’t think there is pressure, but I understood there is responsibility,” she added.

Soundarya had to direct a Tamil romantic-comedy film before “VIP-2”.

Asked if the project was shelved because of “VIP-2”, she said: “For various reasons… That was a wonderful script but for some reasons it didn’t take off the way I expected it. I think everything happens for a reason and I am very happy with the way things have panned out.”

“VIP-2” is bilingual film and stars Dhanush, Amala Paul, Vivek, Saranya Ponvannan and Samuthirakani returning from the first film. The new addition to the cast is Bollywood actress Kajol.

“I don’t think anyone else came to our mind but Kajol madam. I think we are so happy as a team that we have taken her back to south after a gap of 20 years and the character she plays is a very stylish, independent, self-made and confident woman. I think that’s just madam… That’s the way she is,” Soundarya said.

She added that Kajol did not have to do anything extra for the film. She just had to be herself on screen.
