Telangana CM again expands cabinet, inducts son, nephew

0

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao on Sunday expanded his cabinet with the induction of six ministers including his son K.T. Rama Rao and nephew T. Harish Rao.

The new ministers were administered oath of office and secrecy by Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan at a ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan at 4.14 p.m.

The four other minister who took oath are P. Sabita Indra Reddy, Gangula Kamalakar, Puvvada Ajay and Satyavati Rathod.

Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao, his ministers, leaders of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), MPs, state legislators and senior officials attended the ceremony.

Interestingly, Soundararajan administered oath to new ministers a few hours after she was sworn in as the Governor.

Chandrasekhar Rao, who had no woman minister in his cabinet during the first term, inducted two women – Sabita Indra Reddy and Satyavati Rathod.

Three of the newly-inducted ministers had earlier served as ministers.

K.T. Rama Rao and Harish Rao were in the cabinet during the TRS’ first term in power.

Sabitha was one of the 12 Congress MLAs who had defected to the TRS after the latter retained power. She had earlier served as minister in undivided Andhra Pradesh.

This is the second expansion in the state cabinet since the TRS swept back to power in the elections held in December last year.

With this expansion, the strength of the cabinet has gone up to 18, the maximum permitted by the rules.

Chandrasekhar Rao had taken oath as the Chief Minister for the second term on December 13. Home Minister Mehmood Ali also took oath with him.

KCR expanded his cabinet on February 19 by inducting 10 ministers.

KTR and Harish to become Ministers: Cabinet expansion

0

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrsekhara Rao is all set for Cabinet expansion on Sunday. His son and TRS Working President KT Rama Rao is certain to be inducted into the Ministry. Reports say that KCR’s nephew T. Harish Rao’s name is also being considered for Ministry. In all, six new faces will be there in the already 12-member strong Cabinet most likely. One or two ministers are expected to be dropped. Political circles are discussing whether Minister Eetela Ravinder will face KCR anger this time. Incoming Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan has been informed about the expansion.

The other leaders likely to get ministry are Sabita Indra Reddy, Puvvada Ajay Kumar, Gangula Kamalakar, Rekhya Naik or Satyavati. Former Minister Nayini Narasimha Reddy is likely to be made RTC Chairman. MLC Palla Rajeswar Reddy may be given vice chairman post of Mission Bhageeratha.

Nalgonda MLC Gutta Sukhender Reddy is expected to be made Legislative Council Chairman. There were rumours in the past that Sukhender Reddy will be made a Minister by dropping Malla Reddy from the Ministry. But the latest political equations have changed dramatically Huzurnagar by-election.

Ministry to KTR? Suspense on Harish Rao

0

Telangana CM K Chandrasekhara Rao is all set to expand his Cabinet soon once again. He has not given ministerial berth to his son KT Rama Rao in the first expansion. At that time, KTR became the TRS Working President. Since then, there has been an increasing demand from within and outside the party for taking KTR back into the Cabinet. MIM President Asaduddin Owaisi has even tweeted in favour of KTR to be seen as Minister again.

Following these developments, there is speculation in Telangana that it is almost decided on KTR ministry. The IT, industry and municipal administration ministries are still with KCR. In the previous term, KTR has held these ministries and developed close rapport with the stakeholders concerned. Now, the IT industry leaders and others are asking for KTR to be their minister once again.

Former minister Harish Rao is also standing chances of getting ministry. But there is still suspense as KCR has not given any indications in this regard. Moreover, Harish is lying low because of reduced importance to him as of now. TRS leaders say that MLC Gutta Sukender Reddy is also likely to be given ministry along with KTR. KCR has given a promise to Gutta in the past. Right now, there are 12 ministers in the KCR Cabinet. There is a chance for inducting seven more ministers this time.

KCR’s veiled threat to Harish Rao?

0

By now it is clear that there are irreconcilable differences between Telangana CM Chandrasekhara and his popular nephew T Harish Rao. Rumour is that both BJP and Congress are rolling a red carpet for Harish Rao. But he is interested to begin his own party. In this backdrop, KCR made a surprising statement that there should only Telangana-based regional parties in the state but not the national parties.

Analysts say that this is nothing but a veiled threat from KCR to his nephew. KCR has dropped enough indications of how he will politically embarrass Harish if he joins either BJP or Congress. There has been overwhelming support and sympathy to Harish ever since he was deliberately humiliated by not being invited to KCR’s prestigious Kaleswaram inaugural function.

There is some disturbing news as well for KCR. Even if Harish starts his own party, there is a likelihood of his having an alliance with some national party for 2023 assembly election. But what KCR fears most is that Harish Rao would be more harmful if he joins BJP or Congress. He will be a lesser threat only when he begins his own party.

KTR, Harish likely in Cabinet; who’ll pave the way?

Hyderabad: Telangana Cabinet expansion is most probably in the last week of May and TRS working president KT Rama Rao and former irrigation minister T Harish Rao are likely to get berths. Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has already indicated that women will be accommodated in the next phase of Cabinet expansion. With this speculation is rife over Sabita Indra Reddy may get Cabinet berth. Now, the billion dollar question is that who’ll be sent out from Cabinet to pave the way for former ministers?

The 119-Telangana Assembly can have 18 ministers including the chief minister. With 12 ministers including the CM on board, KCR can accommodate six more ministers. KCR may induct two ministers into the Cabinet, while taking KTR and Harish Rao. After this, two more slots lie vacant. It may be recalled that there’s no women representation in the Telangana Cabinet during the first term.

“Except KCR himself, none in the party knows who’ll be accommodated in the Cabinet. May be after Lok Sabha results on May 23, KCR would take a call on this. We hope that Cabinet expansion may be completed before June 2, Telangana formation day. The merger issue of Congress Legislature Party into TRS is in the court.

Another talk of the town about Cabinet expansion is that whether any scope for accommodating three ministers from one district. From the undivided Karimnagar district, Etela Rajender and Koppula Eshwar are holding portfolios of health ministry and social welfare ministry respectively. KT Rama Rao is representing Sircilla Assembly constituency, which is also part of undivided Karimnagar district.

“Will KCR drop any one of two ministers — Etela Rajender and Koppula Eshwar– to accommodate KTR in the Cabinet? Otherwise, Sircilla, Jagtial and Karimanagr are seperate districts. Anyway, we have to wait and see,” said a senior TRS leader.

Koppula Eashwar represents Dharmapuri Assembly constituency in Jagtial district. Etela Rajender represent Huzurabad Assembly constituency in Karimnagar district.

Harish Rao absence from Poll campaign

0

Hyderabad: T Harish Rao, former irrigation minister and holder of record majority in Assembly elections held in December 2018, was not included in the Telangana Cabinet. Subsequently, speculation was rife that TRS supremo K Chandrashekhar Rao along with him would contest in Lok Sabha elections. So that, Harish Rao would be helpful to KCR in making Federal Front a success at the Centre.

Contrary to all these expectations, KCR neither included Harish Rao in the Cabinet nor fielded in Lok Sabha elections. This has triggered a question ‘Where’s Harish Rao and what’s he doing now?.

Putting full stop to all the questions, TRS has announced its list of star campaigners including Harish Rao. Interestingly, Harish Rao’s name was not in the earlier list of star campaigners submitted to the Election Commission (EC). In a separate letter to the EC, TRS requested to include Harish Rao’s name in the list of star campaigners replacing Rajya Sabha MP Santhosh Kumar.

TRS’ list of star compaingers has 20 names. Harish Rao is campaigning for Kotha Prabhakar Reddy in Medak Lok Sabha constituency.

The list of 20 star campaigners of TRS include — TRS supremo K Chandrashekhar Rao, working president KT Rama Rao, ministers Mohamood Ali, Indrakaran Reddy, Etala Rajender, Koppula Eshwar, Errabelli Dayakar Rao, G Jagadish Reddy, Ch Malla Reddy, V Srinivas Goud, S Nirajana Reddy, V Prashanth Reddy and Talasani Srinivas Yadav.

TRS senior leaders such as secretary general K Keshava Rao, TRS general secretaries — Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, R Shravan Kumar Reddy and T Ravindar Rao. TRS MLC Seri Subhash Reddy and MP Banda Prakash are among the list of star campaigners.

KCR, Harish Rao not to contest in Lok Sabha polls!

0

Hyderabad: Contrary to speculation over entry into national politics, TRS chief and Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is said to have told party leaders that neither he nor Harish Rao will contest in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. Referring to the recent news reports about their possible entry into national politics by contesting as MP candidates, KCR has termed them as baseless rumours.

TRS has finalised six sitting Lok Sabha members — K Kavitha (Nizamabad), B Vinod Kumar (Karimnagar), Boora Narsaiah Goud (Bhongir), BB patil (Zaheerabad), G Nagesh (Adilabad) and K Prabhakar Reddy (Medak). KCR is exploring all the possibilities for potential candidates for the remaining 10 Lok Sabha seats. One Hyderabad MP seat will be retained by AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, for whom TRS is supporting.

KCR is reportedly told his MP candidates that he would enter the national politics in case BJP and Congress don’t get absolute majority to form the government at the Centre, while exerting confidence that TRS will sweep all the 16 MP seats and one by AIMIM bagging the total 17 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana.

“I prefer to work as chief minister of Telangana rather than a less important role of a union minister at the Centre. If TRS gets an important role to play in national politics, Then I may consider that option,” said KCR.

Going by the KCR’s remarks, the TRS supremo and Harish Rao wouldn’t contest in Lok Sabha polls, but may enter the national politics steering Federal Front concept if only BJP and Congress couldn’t get the required magical number of MPs to form the government at the Centre.

Harish Rao to be sent to Centre: To contest in MP seat

0

In all likelihood, KCR’s nephew and former minister T. Harish Rao may be asked to contest from one of the parliamentary segments in Telangana. TRS circles are full rumours that KCR has decided to send Harish to the Centre. There, an important post will be given to the young leader. This is as part of the TRS chief’s game plan to play a king-maker role in the national politics by winning all the 16 Lok Sabha seats.

KCR is not taking any chances as far as winning parliamentary constituencies is concerned. He is selecting strong candidates after strategic considerations. There is also a rumour that former minister Tummala Nageswara Rao may be asked to contest in Khammam Lok Sabha segment.

In the last assembly elections also, the TRS has scored very well in Khammam district. The politics surrounding Harish Rao has gained greater attention. The opponents are also being surprised by the twists being given by KCR regarding his Lok Sabha election strategies.

Harish Rao under huge social media pressure – No ministry

0

Telangana CM K Chandrasekhara Rao has honoured his son KTR with TRS Working President post after coming to power in 2018 election. This was in recognition of KTR’s services. What has KCR given to his nephew and MLA T. Harish Rao? So far, nothing. KCR Cabinet is being expanded with 10 ministers but there is no name of Harish Rao in the first list. So, he will have to wait till after the parliamentary election in Telangana.

Comparisons were being made how KTR and Harish Rao were treated in social media. There are rumours also about Harish being very unhappy over his maternal uncle’s shock treatments to him. After maintaining silence for sometime, Harish issued a statement saying that he was totally happy with the party leadership’s decisions. Reconfirming his trust, Harish said he would always be ready to carry out any responsibility that would be given by KCR.

As usual, Harish once again asserted that he is a dedicated solider for the TRS. But sympathy is pouring in a large scale in social media for Harish Rao. There is talk though Harish Rao has been beside KCR standing like a rock of support for the CM althrough, there was no expected recognition for his nowadays.

KCR’s nephew assures full support to Rama Rao

0

With Telangana Chief Minister and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President K. Chandrashekhar Rao naming his son K.T. Rama Rao as the party’s Working President, his nephew T. Harish Rao on Friday assured the latter his full support.

KTR, as Rama Rao is popularly known, drove to Harish’s house to make a courtesy call.

Harish, who was earlier reported to be unhappy with KCR’s plans to promote his son as his heir apparent, congratulated KTR on being entrusted with the key responsibility and hoped that he would further strengthen the party.

Harish, who served as a Minister in KCR’s previous cabinet and is likely to be inducted in the new cabinet next week, told reporters that he and KTR worked together in the recent elections and they would continue to do so.

Before KTR’s visit to Harish’s house, the latter took to Twitter to congratulate him. KTR replied to the tweet with thanks.

Many leaders including All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi congratulated KTR.

KTR tweeted that he humbly accepts the responsibility. “Shall serve to the best of my abilities to strengthen the confidence shown by people in the leadership of KCR Garu”

A day after taking oath as the Chief Minister for a second consecutive term following landslide victory, KCR on Friday named his son as the Working President of TRS.

The TRS chief said since he would be focusing on the national politics, he was aentrusting the responsibility of taking forward the party to KTR, the most trusted person in the party.

Harish, considered as a leader with a mass base, has been associated with TRS since it was floated by KCR in 2001. KTR, who quit his job in the US to return and join Telangana movement before the 2009 elections, is considered number two in the party and the government.

There have been reports of a cold war between the two leaders in the past.

Mahakutami an alliance of ‘Kauravas’, says Harish Rao

0

TRS Minister Harish Rao accused Congress of hurting Telangana pride by depending heavily on AP CM Chandrababu Naidu in the present election. Congress leaders are believing strongly that Chandrababu will help and guide them to victory, he says. He addressed a meeting at Gajwel in Siddipet area.

Harish Rao is drawing comparisons from Mahabharat. He says Grand Alliance partners are behaving like Kauravas who were notorious for their evil ways to hurt opponents. But ultimately it is Dharma and righteousness that will win and KCR will emerge victorious in this battle between right and wrong.

Has Andhra Babu become pro-Telangana? asks Harish

0

TRS party has stepped up its criticism against Congress saying that it has got an unholy alliance with TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu for December elections.

“Chandrababu will always be an Andhra Babu. Has Congress leaders got a signed promise from him that he will change and become friendly to the cause of Telangana”, asked Interim Minister T. Harish Rao.

He dashed off a letter to Congress state president Utham Kumar Reddy, listing out various disputes and asking how Congress could have an alliance an anti-Telangana leader like Naidu.

Telangana state has disputes with AP on the issues of Polavaram national project, several other irrigation projects, division of employees, formation of High Court, power supply and public sector undertakings.

In his letter, Harish asked Congress leaders whether they had taken a promise from Chandrababu that he would help in resolving all the above disputes in future.

The Minister listed out the alleged problems being created by AP CM for Telangana government for the past four years.

Harish said because of AP CM’s unwillingness to redesign Polavaram project, Ramalayam temple at Bhdrachalam will be submerged and lakhs of acres will face submersion threat there.

Chandrababu was on a mission to divert Godavari waters to Krishna basin by constructing Polavaram but he was creating problems for implementing Godavari Tribunal order for giving 80 tmc water as compensation to Telangana and other upper Krishna states. Because of this, Nalgonda and Palamur districts were losing a lot.

AP CM snatched away Sileru power project without giving any compensation to Telangana, which is now suffering a loss of Rs. 1 crore per day.

With regard to 120 AP employees in power sector, Chandrababu Naidu was not taking them because of this Telangana government has to pay their salaries all these four years.

Mission Bhagiratha is a noble mission to supply water to Hyderabad and many other places in Telangana but Chandrababu has made complaints against the same despite the fact that he is staying in Hyderabad and using water here.

Harish is known for biting criticism against rivals. His letters are certainly increasing pressure on Congress leaders to defend themselves on so many counts.

Congress colluded with Andhras, says Harish Rao

0

Telangana interim minister T. Harish Rao has strongly criticised Congress leaders, saying that the rival leaders are colluding with Andhra rulers for getting temporary political gains without realising injustice they are doing for Telangana.

Addressing party meetings at Siddhipeta, he said that Congress had 60 years of betrayal history as its leaders never bothered to solve problems of Telangana people while TRS got 14 years of dynamic agitation history as KCR had put his life at risk to get statehood.

Harish Rao deplored that Congress leaders are unfortunately trying to bring back ‘parayipalana’ (others’ rule) in the state in utter indifference to the predominant Telangana sentiment and the people’s demand for self-rule.

He took strong objection to Congress tying up with TDP regardless of the fact that TDP is a party headquartered in Andhra Pradesh and this is equal to mortgaging the interests of Telangana to Andhras by Congress.

No doubt, TRS leaders are hell bent on making people believe Congress is colluding with anti-Telangana forces. Whether they succeed in this effort will be known on Dec 11, the day of election result.

TRS Minister Harish Rao’s sweet warning to GMR Group!

0

Telangana Irrigation Minister Harish Rao has given an open warning to GMR Group of Companies. Going into the details, Harish Rao made Kothapalli Railway project site inspection. The minister, along with the local MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, government officials, and GMR Group representatives visited the place.

In this context, MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy briefed Harish Rao that, the GMR Group which has undertaken the construction of Nagulapalli Bridge is delaying the works. Upon hearing it, Harish Rao became furious and warned the GMR Group representatives that, if GMR Group doesn’t start the construction works of the Nagulapalli Bridge before April 15th they have to face dire consequences.

When the GMR representatives tried to reason out, he further said, if things don’t go as directed, the GMR Toll Gate near Nagulapalli (near Toopran, Medak District) will be bulldozed.

The Kothapalli Railway Project is a part of the Manoharabad – Kothapalli Railway Line, which has been pending for the last few decades.

Harish Rao certainly knows his onions

0

Within 24hours of the ghastly incident at Kaleshwaram project in Rajanna-Siricilla district which left seven workers dead, Minister of irrigation T Harish Rao said that the Telangana government appointed a committee to suggest steps to be taken to prevent incidents like the collapse of a roof of a pump house.

He responded straightaway not just by announcing ex-gratia but also by appointing committee, hardly giving a chance to the opposition parties to disparage.

Opposition parties are trying their best to showdown the ruling party leaders specifically the first family of the state. Congress to an extent was able to project itself as Dalit-friendly using the Nerella incident.

But when similar situation comes up with Harish Rao, he is very well-organized and knows his onions well. Even in the course of land acquisition for Mallanna Sagar project while he was being made scapegoat, the irrigation minister deplored the opposition parties and emerged out of the situation. Harish Rao devises his strategies well and is equipped to deal with anything thrown up against him.

What will happen if Harish Rao joins BJP?

0

Bhartiya Janata Party is making moves to emerge as strong party to counter ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi while Telangana Congress leaders continue to fight among themselves.

Evidently BJP needs a Baahubali more than Congress to create its footprint and march into the elections. T Harish Rao swore allegiance to TRS and stated that whatever KCR says is Gospel Truth. But Harish Rao could be the Baahubali for BJP who can retaliate against his uncle KCR for sidelining him.

In the past, specifically during the Y S Rajashekar Reddy regime when TRS was undergoing crisis, speculations were rife that Harish Rao will be leaving TRS to join Congress. Also, there was buzz that, as the party lost confidence in KCR after horrible defeat in the elections, Harish Rao would be named as the TRS president.

The irrigation minister had a major part to play in several elections and has mastered the art of campaigning and picking candidates.

KTR did secure the GHMC elections which gave him more limelight. But Harish Rao who was the second-head since inception will just get free hand in elections if he joins the saffron brigade.

He is well versed with the booth level politics of TRS. Additionally, the irrigation minister worked in Congress and knows in and out about the party.

TRS Member of Parliament D Srinivas son, Aravind Dharmapuri, picked BJP and is also discussing on “Operation TRS” – by encouraging the children of TRS leaders into BJP and ensuring that they contest in 2019 elections.

If Harish Rao’s brain is added to ‘Operation TRS’, BJP will become unbeatable. Narendra Modi has cemented his image as a the tallest leader in the country and his charisma is not going to fade anytime soon.

In this backdrop, if mastermind Amit Shah who is targeting 350+ seats in 2019 elections shakes hand with another mastermind Harish Rao, it will weaken TRS at its roots.

Harish Rao has no other choice but to endure the invisibility cloak by KCR

0

Telangana Minister of Irrigation T Harish Rao was gifted an invisibility cloak immediately after TRS came to power by none other than Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. This powerful cloak has been ensuring that Harish is not visible to the naked eye even if he praises, yells or for that matter accomplishes something great.

Despite Harish making it loud and clear that he is not side-lined but is competing at work with the Chief Minister’s son K T Rama Rao, speculations endure about, he switching allegiance from TRS to either BJP or Congress. Even the followers of Harish are not condemning such reports strongly.

The stories in media and the actions of the TRS leaders, towards Harish seem to be in accordance with the mastermind strategist KCR. This is creating a negative impact on his followers who are trying to move away from him and the party because of the apathetic attitude towards their leader by the TRS supremo himself. Some of the supporters of Harish in his stronghold Siddipet are also being sidelined.

Harish was the teacher’s pet who was always ready to give back to anyone, but in the recent past, he was not allowed to make any crucial announcement nor were his comebacks directed towards the opposition party appreciated. In any troublesome situation, the irrigation minister who was the go-to man for resolutions, who is no longer being involved instead his position is in trouble.

The visuals of Chief Minister ignoring the compliments of irrigation minister during the launch of the SRSP revival works at Pochampad, are doing rounds on social media.

One of the TRS senior leader made it clear that Harish has no other choice but to compromise with the situations. Nonetheless, there is evident discontent among the followers despite they trying to adapt to the situations. This is plainly a strategy to make Harish a lone wolf and this intellectual plight will continue in near future.

Telangana IT Minister KTR puts up good show as an IT Minister

0

Telangana IT Minister KTR puts up good show as an IT Minister. But, yet to score in Panchayat Raj Department to make a mark among rural vote bank of the TRS where his uncle Harish Rao is still a darling of rural folk

Hyderabad: Son of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao, and the State Information Technology and Panchayat Raj Minister K Taraka Rama Rao is leaving no stone unturned in his efforts to consolidate his strength in the party vis – a – vis his uncle and Irrigation Minister Taneeru Harish Rao. After his active participation in the separate Telangana movement and with the gifted ministry from his father and Chief Minister KCR, KTR has well prepared to in laying a road map for himself, to match his uncle in earning popularity among the masses on his own. “KTR know that the 43 year old Harish Rao is a darling of masses on many counts. Because, Harish has been working for about last 15 years in the field along the side of his uncle KCR, and he knows the pulse of the people. Mainly, Harish is popular among the rural folk in Telangana than in urban segments,” said a senior TRS party leader.

Taking all this into consideration KRT has been working hard on his ‘Mission Consolidation’ from the time he was made a minister in KCR’s cabinet. A senior manager from an IT company, closer to the Telangana IT Minister said, “the kind of job that KTR had worked in USA could be said a very common one that many of our guys from India are working. But, now it is altogether a new KTR one sees. He updated himself in such a way, if now any one approaches him with a proposal or a project, he talks like a top ranked project delivery manager working in a fortune 500 companies,” he added.

Adding further, he is trying to make a mark of his own in developing and promoting IT sector in Hyderabad in particular and Telangana in general. In this way, it was not Harish Rao, but KTR is competing with the brand of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. For, it was Naidu, known for his efforts as the first man to take the initiative and made brand Hyderabad a success in the IT sector world over. To a greater extent KTR is enjoying his job as IT minister and has put up a quite a good show in last one year.

However, when it comes to Panchayat Raj, except the ambitious Water Grid Programme of the Telangana government, he could not gain his ground in giving his best to this ministry,” say the party insiders. In fact, it was Panchayat Raj where he could connect himself better with the rural masses of the State. By scripting a success story KTR might endear majority of youth in the urban segment and in a few pocket in the quasi urban and rural areas. But, the real litmus test for KTR is to get the rural masses around to establish his brand to be the man second in line of command, feels a TRS MLA. Until then, indisputably it was Harish Rao is remains as a darling among the rural voter base of the TRS, they added.
