1.05 lakh votes, but only 82000 votes?

3

Know what really shocked the ruling TRS to no end in Huzurabad bypoll? Not the victory of Eatala. The TRS was expecting him to somehow scrape through. Not even the majority. They saw it coming. But, what left them shell shocked is that not all TRS party members stood by the TRS. At least 20 percent of the party workers and members have gone with Eatala.

The TRS has over 1.05 lakh members in Huzurabad. In fact, this is the highest membership in any constituency in Telangana. This means that at least 80 per cent of the voters in the constituency are TRS members. But the party got just 82000 votes. This means over 20000 persons, officially party members, have not voted for the party. Let alone outsiders, even party members did not vote for the TRS.

This has left the TRS leaders shocked. The party is worried about those who have betrayed party candidate Gellu Srinivas Yadav. The party has realized that despite the efforts of Harish Rao and several ministers, MLAs, the party could not get its own members to vote for the party. The TRS is worried that this could happen in other constituencies too.

Hence the top leadership is planning to initiate very tough action against those who played truant. It has reportedly prepared a list of the leaders, who did not work for the party. It was also realized that many of those who wore the TRS pink stoles were actually working for Eatala. Hence, it is planning tough action against them.

Why is Revanth Reddy happy at Congress defeat in Huzurabad?

0

Why is Revanth Reddy confident despite getting just about 2000 votes in Huzurabad? The performance of the Congress in Huzurabad bypoll is its worst ever performance. In fact, it got less votes in Huzurabad than in Badvel where the Congress is all but dead. Yet, Revanth is smiling and is looking confident.

Political pundits feel that he may have kept party affairs incharge Manickam Tagore and the Congress High Command in the loop about his decision to secretly help Eatala Rajender. He must have secured the party nod for his strategy to support Eatala. He must have sold the idea that the invincibility of the TRS must be shattered even if it meant supporting Eatala.

Sources also say that he has convinced the party high command that Eatala was a ripe apple ready to fall into the lap of the Congress Party sooner than later. Revanth feels that Revanth and the BJP are ideologically and temperamentally incompatible and it would only be a matter of time when Eatala would turn against the BJP. In that event, Congress would be his last recourse, feels Revanth. So, in the long run, supporting Eatala could become an investment of political capital. Revanth is also of the opinion that Huzurabad victory is a victory of Eatala and not that of the BJP.

Insiders say that Revanth has deliberately put up a weak candidate in Huzurabad and launched only token campaign very late. His plan is to help Eatala today to reap benefits later. In fact, from the beginning Revanth had said that the Congress had never won Huzurabad since 1983 and that one should not expect wonders this time too.

Beginning of KCR’s downfall, says BJP after Huzurabad win

0

It’s an early Diwali for the BJP in Telangana as the saffron camp erupted in celebrations over its massive victory in Huzurabad by-election, terming the outcome as the beginning of the downfall of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and his Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).

The BJP leaders claimed that the Huzurabad result reflected the people’s anger against the TRS government and their faith in the saffron party.

Reacting to BJP candidate Eatala Rajender’s victory by a margin of over 24,000 votes, they said the people have taught a lesson to the ruling party, which tried to win the poll by engineering defections from other parties and lure the voters with money and ‘Dalit Bandhu’ scheme.

They exuded confidence that the victory will help them work with renewed vigour to provide a viable alternative to TRS and bring BJP to power in 2023 elections.

BJP state chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar said the BJP won Huzurabad despite all the unfair means adopted by the TRS. He alleged that the ruling party misused official machinery and tried to lure the voters. He thanked the voters for reposing faith in BJP and voting for Rajender. He also thanked all the BJP leaders and workers who worked hard to ensure the party’s victory.

Union minister for tourism and culture G. Kishan Reddy hailed the huge win of the party in Huzurabad. He said the people rejected TRS which tried to lure them with money and ‘Dalit Bandhu’ scheme.

Reddy said the victory reflects the tremendous confidence people have in the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president J.P. Nadda and other leaders.

BJP MP from Nizamabad, D. Arvind predicted that there will be mass exodus from TRS following its defeat in Huzurabad. He alleged that the corruption which KCR indulged in has surrounded him and his arrogance has burnt him.

Meanwhile, Congress state president A. Revanth Reddy owned responsibility for the disastrous performance of his party in the by-election.

The Congress party finished a distant third with its candidate Venkat Balmoor polling just 3,012 votes.

Revanth Reddy, however, urged the party cadres not to lose heart with the defeat and to gear up for the future battles with strong resolve and determination.

He told reporters that the party will analyse the result and take corrective steps. He, however, pointed out that the bye-lection was held in special circumstances.

Huzurabad result not of much significance: KTR

0

Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao on Tuesday said that the result of by-election to Huzurabad Assembly seat is of not much significance or consequence.

KTR was reacting to the defeat of TRS candidate G. Srinivas Yadav at the hands of former minister Eatala Rajender, who contested on the ticket of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

BJP wrested Huzurabad seat as Rajender defeated Yadav by a margin of over 22,000 votes.

“In the last 20 years TRS has seen many highs and lows & this one election result will not be of much significance or consequences,” tweeted KTR, who is also minister for industry, information technology, municipal administration and urban development.

KTR complimented Srinivas Yadav for a spirited fight and appealed to all TRS workers to “work with increased resolve to forge ahead in future battles.”

The TRS leader thanked and applauded the ‘tireless’ efforts of ministers Harish Rao, Koppula Eshwar and Gangula Kamalakar, all the MLAs and TRS party leaders and cadre who toiled hard in Huzurabad. “Also would like to thank the social media warriors who’ve been relentless in campaign,” added KTR, son of Chief Minister and TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

Jolt to TRS as BJP wrests Huzurabad

1

In a big setback to the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), the BJP wrested Huzurabad Assembly seat in the fiercely contested by-election.

Eatala Rajender, who had switched loyalties to contest as BJP candidate after being dropped from the State Cabinet over allegations of land grabbing, defeated his nearest rival G. Srinivas Yadav of TRS by 24,068 votes.

Rajender, whose resignation from Assembly caused the bypoll, secured a total of 1,06,780 votes while Yadav polled 82,712 votes.

The Congress party suffered humiliation as its candidate finished a distant third with just 3,012 votes.

Rajender, who was leading from the very first round, increased his lead with every round. Barring eighth and 11th rounds when TRS candidate took the lead, it was Rajender who dominated the counting spread over 22 rounds.

Out of 2,36,837 voters, 2,05,053 had cast their votes in the by-election held on Saturday.

A total of 30 candidates were in the fray in the bye-election, caused by the resignation of Eatala Rajender after he was dropped from State Cabinet by Chief Minister K. Chandraekhar Rao following allegations of land grabbing.

Rajender, a four-time MLA from Huzurabad, had also quit TRS to join BJP, who was quick to announce him as its candidate in the bypoll.

While resigning from TRS, Rajender hit out at what he called the autocratic style of functioning of Chandrasekhar Rao and also alleged that he was humiliated in the party as he comes from a backward class.

Huzurabad bypoll was seen as a battle of prestige between KCR and Rajender, who had been winning the seat since 2009.

The 57-year-old leader, who served as finance minister in the first TRS Cabinet, held the health portfolio till he was dropped from Cabinet by KCR in May.

KCR and his son and TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao stayed away from campaigning but the TRS went all out to defeat Rajender.

KCR’s nephew and finance minister T. Harish Rao led the campaign. Several ministers and TRS leaders actively participated in it.

In August, much before the announcement of by-election schedule, KCR had visited the constituency to launch his ambitious Dalit Bandhu scheme on pilot basis.

For Huzurabad, the government had released Rs 2,000 crore for the scheme, under which every Dalit family will receive Rs 10 lakh as grant to start any business.

The TRS government’s move had come under flak from the opposition parties which alleged that the ruling party was trying to lure the voters.

The Election Commission, however, stayed the implementation of the scheme till the completion of by-election.

Rajender, who was first elected from Kamalapur constituency on TRS ticket in 2004 and retained it in the by-election, was shifted to Huzurabad in 2009 and since then he had been winning the seat for TRS.

One of the founding members of TRS, Rajender maintained his grip on the constituency. Continuing his winning streak in 2018, he defeated his nearest rival Kaushik Reddy of Congress by 47,803 votes. Rajender had then polled 1,04,840 votes while Kaushik Reddy had secured 61,121 votes.

Though Kaushik Reddy defected to TRS a few months before bypoll, the outcome shows he could not ensure transfer of votes to the ruling party.

Before the victory in the bypoll, BJP hardly had any presence in Huzurabad. In 2018, its candidate P. Raghu had polled only 1,683 votes, which was less than NOTA votes (2,867).

With the victory in Huzurabad, BJP’s strength in 119-member Assembly rose to three.

Huzurabad is the second Assembly seat wrested by the saffron party from TRS in the last one year. In November last year, BJP had wrested Dubbak seat by a narrow margin.

Revanth’s rivals in Cong enjoy bypoll result!

1

Congress firebrand leader A.Revanth Reddy faced first Assembly election in the form of Huzurabad by poll after becoming TPCC chief in June this year.

No one expected Congress to retain even deposit in this by poll as it has turned out to be a war between KCR and Etala Rajender and not even a war between TRS and BJP.

Even then Congress was expected to poll at least 10,000 votes in by poll as it was polled 60,000 votes in 2018 Assembly polls.

But shockingly Congress got just 1,300 votes after 9 rounds of counting out of total 22 rounds on Tuesday (today).

BJP polled 35,000 votes and TRS polled 30,000 votes after 9 rounds.

Revanth’s rivals in Telangana Congress are holding Revanth responsible for party’s miserable performance.

Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy who is strongly opposing Revanth as TPCC chief since beginning has decided to complain against Revanth to high command.

Revanth’s rivals want high command to replace Revanth as TPCC chief if it wants to win 2023 Assembly polls.

BJP’s Etela Rajender is heading for victory in by poll as he was leading by over 5,000 votes over TRS after 10 rounds of counting.

Huzurabad by poll counting: BJP’s Etela heading for victory

0

Huzurabad voters seem to have delivered a deadly blow to ruling TRS in Assembly bypoll going by the early trends in the counting of votes which started at 8am on Tuesday (today).

BJP candidate Etela Rajender is leading over TRS in every round of counting although with a slender margin.

Five rounds out of total 22 rounds counting have been completed so far and Etela secured lead in all five rounds.

TRS secured lead only in postal ballots. But in EVMs counting, BJP leads in all five rounds so far.

Etela is leading by nearly 2,000 votes over TRS after 5 rounds of counting.

BJP leaders are confident of winning Huzurabad bypoll by over 10,000 votes.

Although KCR spent thousands of crores of rupees in Huzurabad to win by poll, voters seem to have rejected him going by early trends.

All set for counting of votes in Huzurabad, Badvel

0

All arrangements have been completed for the counting of votes polled in the October 30 by-elections in Huzurabad and Badvel Assembly constituencies in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh respectively.

In Huzurabad the counting of votes will be taken up from 8 a.m. on Tuesday at SRR College. Telangana Chief Electoral Officer Shashank Goel told reporters in Hyderabad on Monday that all arrangements were in place for the counting.

Counting of postal ballots will be taken up first. Subsequently, votes registered in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be counted. Two halls have been arranged for counting with 7 tables in each hall.

The counting process will be completed in 22 rounds. Each round is expected to take 20-30 minutes. The presence of a large number of candidates in the fray could lead to a delay in the declaration of results.

The CEO clarified that the video of the VVPAT unit which went viral on social media on Sunday was not among the units used in the polling. He said the video was taken when the machine was being transported but it was not used for the elections.

After the video went viral, the opposition BJP and the Congress had accused the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) of attempts to change the verdict in its favour by switching EVMs and VVPAT units.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has prohibited any victory procession after the counting. According to the orders issued by the CEO, not more than two persons will be allowed to accompany the winning candidate or his representative while receiving the certificate of election from the Returning Officer.

In the fiercely contested by-election, 86.33 per cent of nearly 2.37 lakh voters cast their votes. The poll percentage was 2.5 per cent higher than the turnout in 2018.

Out of 2,36,837 voters, 2,05,053 cast their votes in the by-election, which was peaceful barring minor skirmishes between the TRS and BJP supporters.

A total of 30 candidates were in the fray in the by-election, caused by the resignation of Eatala Rajender after he was dropped from the state cabinet by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao following allegations of land grabbing.

Rajender, who has been representing the Huzurabad seat since 2009, contested as a BJP candidate. He was locked in a direct fight against Gellu Srinivas Yadav of the TRS.

Election authorities in Badvel constituency in Andhra Pradesh have also made all arrangements for the counting.

The constituency, reserved for Scheduled Castes, saw 68.12 per cent polling.

A total of 2,16,139 voters were eligible to cast their votes.

Fifteen candidates tested their political fortunes in the bypoll, caused by the death of sitting MLA G. Venkatasubbaiah of the ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP).

The YSRCP fielded his wife Dasari Sudha, who was locked in a three-cornered contest against the Congress party’s M. Kamalamma and the BJP’s P. Suresh.

The main opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) stayed away from the contest in line with its tradition of supporting the family members of the deceased MLA.

Last day shock to TRS in Huzurabad

2

On the last day of the election campaign in Huzurabad, the TRS got an unexpected shock. An announcement by the revenue and health officials appears to have the potential to undo all the great campaign work that the ruling TRS did all these days. A jittery TRS tried to make amends but to no avail.

On Tuesday, there were rumours that those who did not get Covid vaccinated would not get PDS material and welfare pension. It was said that a statement to this effect was made by DMHO Dr Srinivasa Rao. This led to panic among the people and the news spread like wildfire. Meanwhile, realising the damage this rumour could do, the TRS got health director Srinivasa Rao to issue a clarification.

But even before this clarification reached the people, Gadwal collector Valluru Krianthi tweeted saying that those who did not get vaccinated would not get their pensions and ration in November. Sources said that such internal instructions were issued in all the districts to achieve 100 per cent vaccination. The officials in interior areas have issued these instructions.

Now, the opposition BJP and the Congress have taken this news to every nook and corner of Huzurabad constituency. A worried TRS is now trying to repair the damage before the polling day.

Why are BJP seniors missing from action in Huzurabad?

0

While the Huzurabad election campaign has reached a crescendo and all the main contenders are pulling all stops, some familiar BJP faces are missing in action. Why are they missing in action? Is it because they are sullen and unhappy? Or it is because the party leadership finds them of no use any longer?

Several BJP leaders are spending days on end in Huzurabad addressing street corner meetings, road shows and small meetings. State president Bandi Sanjay, union minister Kishan Reddy, senior leaders Dk Arunka and Vijayasanthi, star crowd-pullers like Raghunangan Rao, D Aravind and others are doing lot of leg work in Huzurabad.

But prominent leader and MLA Raja Singh is not being seen anywhere in the campaign. He was an active campaigner in Dubbak. But, in Huzurabad, he is missing from action. Sources say that Eatala Rajender did not want Raja Singh to campaign in Huzurabad as it could mean losing some hardcore Muslim votes. Eatala is worried that Raja Singh’s speeches could lead to a blowback on the BjP.

Similarly former BJP state chief and now OBC morcha president Dr Laxman has not toured Huzurabad so far. With just two days left for the end of the campaigning, he is unlikely to tour in Huzurabad. Similarly, former president and senior hand N Indrasena Reddy too is missing in action. Indrasen Reddy, who is disappointed at not finding a place in the national executive committee, is not even visiting the party office. He is an expert in dealing with the Central Election Commission on election irregularities. But, he has not extended his services to Eatala.

0

There is a sudden spike in the house rents in Huzurabad. The house rents have gone up to Rs 10000 per week. Yes., you have heard it right. It has gone up to Rs 10000 per week not months. In view of the bypolls, political leaders of all persuasions have trooped in to Huzurabad. As a result, there is a great demand for houses on hire.

Over two thousand leaders from various political parties are currently camping in Huzurabad. There are very few good hotels in Huzurabad. So, most leaders have preferred to take houses on rent. Each leader has one or two attendants and a driver. As a result, taking a rent has become economical for them.

However, in addition, survey organisatons, observers, political strategists are also camping in Huzurabad. They too need temporary accommodation. As a result, the house are being rented on a weekly basis. Thus, a house owner will make up to Rs 30000 to Rs 40000 in a month. Unable got houses in Huzurabad town, some leaders have even gone to neighbouring villages like Ippala Narsingapur and Singapur for rented premises.

Election tourism in Huzurabad is at its peak in view of the great political significance of this make-or-break bypoll. BJP’s Eatala Rajender, Congress Party’s Balmuri Venkat and TRS party’s Gellu Srinivas are in the fray. The polling would be held on October 30 and the result would be out on November 2.

BJP candidate in Huzurabad distributing money: TRS to EC

1

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) on Friday complained to the Election Commission that the BJP candidate in Huzurabad by-election and his supporters are distributing money to voters.

A delegation of TRS leaders led by party General Secretary M. Sreenivas Reddy met Chief Electoral Officer Shashank Goel and submitted a memorandum. They claimed that “strange” accounts are being opened in various banks in Huzurabad and BJP candidate Eatala Rajender and his men are parking illegal money in these accounts for the purpose of distributing the money to the voters.

The TRS leaders said they have reliable information that Rajender and his supporters particularly Bhadrayya are opening bank accounts in various banks in different names and transferring huge money into them in a very organised manner with the purpose of utilising the same amounts for distribution to voters on the eve of the by-election, scheduled on October 30.

“This activity is a grave offence and out and out corrupt practice under the provisions of various penal laws as well as in contravention of model code of conduct,” they said, demanding a thorough investigation to find out how many such bank accounts are opened in Huzurabad.

“The pattern in which the amounts are put into the accounts for distribution among the voters clearly establishes that BJP and its candidate Eatala Rajender resorting to corrupt practices to buy the voters in order to win the election illegally,” it said.

The TRS delegation said though they brought to the notice of the Election Commission several illegalities of BJP and its candidate, no action was taken.

“Unless you direct the appropriate investigating agencies to investigate the issue, it is going to cause irreparable loss to our party’s legitimate prospects in the election. If no meaningful action is taken, it would cause immense damage to the democratic process and fair play in the election,” the TRS memorandum said.

KTR out, what about KCR in Huzurabad?

0

It has now become clear that TRS working president and IT minister K.T.Rama Rao will not campaign in Huzurabad bypoll campaign

This was revealed by KTR himself on Tuesday (today) at a meeting in Telangana Bhavan, the party’s headquarters.

KTR is among the 20-star campaigners who were listed by TRS for the Huzurabad bypoll campaigning.

KTR even cast doubts on his father, TRS chief and Telangana CM KCR’s public meeting in Huzurabad.

While KCR himself told party leaders in the meeting held at the same Telangana Bhavan on Sunday last that he will participate in Huzurabad bypoll campaigning on October 26 or 27, KTR made a contradictory statement to today Telangana Bhavan saying nothing has been finalised as yet on KCR’s public meeting.

KCR is also one of the star campaigners listed by TRS for Huzurabad bypoll.

With KTR opting out of Huzurabad and uncertainty prevailing over KCR’s public meeting, opposition parties say that both the leaders fled away from electoral battlefield after realising that TRS has no chance to win Huzurabad bypoll and by avoiding campaigning they can at least save their face after results are out saying that they did not campaign and had they campaigned the result would have been different.

BJP, Congress colluding in Huzurabad bypoll: KTR

0

Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao on Tuesday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress are colluding in the upcoming by-elections in Huzurabad Assembly constituency.

He claimed that the Congress party fielded a ‘dummy’ candidate, who is a non-local, only to benefit the BJP.

While speaking to the media, Rao said the two parties had joined hands in Huzurabad like they had done in Nizamabad and Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituencies during the 2019 elections.

The BJP and the Congress had colluded in these two constituencies leading to the defeat of the TRS. Both the Lok Sabha constituencies were won by the BJP, he added.

KTR, as Rama Rao is popularly known, exuded confidence that despite the conspiracy of the Congress and the BJP, the TRS would win the Huzurabad bypoll scheduled on October 30.

He challenged state Congress President A. Revanth Reddy to save the deposit of his party candidate in Huzurabad. He wondered why the Congress leader was not campaigning in the bypoll.

KTR also announced that he would not campaign for the bypoll and said he had not campaigned in Dubbaka and Nagarjuna Sagar bypolls. He said Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s tour to the Assembly constituency was not yet finalised.

KTR reiterated that Huzurabad bypoll is a minor election for the TRS. He said the victory of TRS was not news for the media as it was accustomed to the series of election victories of the TRS since 2018 Assembly polls.

The TRS would clearly win the Huzurabad seat, he added. “We defeated a senior leader like Congress veteran Jana Reddy in Nagarjuna Sagar bypoll. Is BJP’s Eatala Rajender a bigger leader than Jana Reddy,” he asked.

Rajender is contesting the bypoll as a BJP candidate. He resigned from the TRS and the Huzurabad Assembly seat after he was dropped from state Cabinet following allegations of land grabbing.

KTR said Rajender was not telling people why he resigned. He also claimed that Rajender and the BJP have not accepted each other.

This tiny village is in great demand in Huzurabad bypoll!

0

A tiny village near Huzurabad is suddenly attracting the attention of all the major parties contesting the Huzurabad Assembly bypoll scheduled to be held on October 30.

This tiny village is Penchikalpeta, which is just three kilometres away from Huzurabad.

Why this village has become most sought after for all the parties all of a sudden?

This is because this village comes under neighbouring Husnabad Assembly constituency and falls under Hanamkonda district.

For these reasons, this village does not attract the Election Commission’s model code of conduct.

In Huzurabad, the EC imposed restrictions on public meetings by star campaigners. Only 1,000 people are allowed to gather in Huzurabad for any public meeting due to Covid norms.

Star campaigners like Telangana CM KCR from TRS, union ministers like Amit Shah from BJP, Revanth Reddy from Congress etc cannot address public meetings of just 1,000 people.

To avoid this, the parties are planning to hold public meetings in Penchikalpeta with thousands of people as no Covid rules are applicable there.

28 nominations rejected for T’gana’s Huzurabad, Andhra’s Badvel bypolls

0

Nominations of 28 candidates have been rejected in Telangana’s Huzurabad Assembly constituency and Andhra Pradesh’s Badvel Assembly constituency, where by-elections are scheduled to be held on October 30.

Nomination papers of 19 candidates were rejected in Huzurabad. Telangana Chief Electoral Officer Shashank Goel said the nominations of 42 candidates were found valid.

Nominations of the candidates of all major parties were found in order during the scrutiny by election authorities. They include Gellu Srinivas Reddy of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), Eatala Rajender of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Venkat Narsing Rao Balmoor of Congress.

A total of 61 candidates had filed their nominations. There are 31 independent candidates among 42 contestants whose papers were found valid.

The by-election was necessitated by the resignation of Rajender from the Assembly after he was dropped from the state Cabinet by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao following allegations of land encroachment.

Rajender, who also quit the TRS, joined the BJP in June after the saffron party promised to field him as its candidate.

Meanwhile, in Badvel constituency of neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, nominations of nine candidates were rejected during scrutiny. The Election Commission found nominations of 18 candidates, including those of the main political parties, in order.

The by-election was caused by the death of sitting legislator Dr G. Venkatasubbaiah of the ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) in March this year. The YSRCP has fielded his wife Dasari Sudha.

The BJP has fielded Punathala Suresh while former MLA P. M. Kamalamma is contesting on Congress ticket. The main opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is staying away from the contest.

As per the poll scheduled announced by the Election Commission, the last date for withdrawal of nominations in both Huzurabad and Badvel is October 13.

Polling will be held on October 30 while counting will be taken up on November 2.

After candidates with the same name, election symbols that look like Lotus, car enter Huzurabad fray

1

Come elections, the political parties pull out amazing tricks from their bags. In such prestigious bypoll such as Huzurabad too, both the TRS and the BJP are trying to outwit one another. In order to confuse the voters, there are four E Rajenders. These names are meant to confuse the BJP voters. The names are close to Eatala Rajender and can leave the voters confused. Instead of voting for Eatala Rajender, at least some might vote for the other E Rajender.

Now another trick has come to light. At least two of these E Rajenders have requested for symbols that look very much like the BJP’s lotus symbol One candidate has requested for Cauliflower and the other for pineapple. Both these symbols have some kind of a resemblance with the Lotus symbol. The idea is to confuse the gullible voters and ensure that at least some votes intended for the BJP go into these accounts. In close contests, these could prove very dangerous.

Not to be outdone, some independent candidates have symbols that look very much like the car symbol of the TRS. For instance, the symbol Chapathi roller and iron box have uncanny resemblance to the car symbol. Some independents have asked for these symbols. It may be recalled that similar tricks were played in the past too.

Sources say that such look-alike symbols could cause major upsets if the contest is close. Sources say that the TRS has already flooded Huzurabad with several welfare schemes. The contest promises to be a very exciting one with both the parties pulling all stops.

How many E Rajenders in Huzurabad bypolls?

0

The ruling TRS is making every effort possible to defeat renegade leader and BJP candidate Eatala Rajender in the Huzurabad byelections. It has already begun showering Huzurabad with sops and has even launched schemes like the Dalit Bandhu. There is another strategy that the TRS is using. The strategy is to field as many independents as possible with name and initial resembling Eatala Rajender.

According to sources, as many as 5 candidates with the name E Rajender are in the fray in Huzurabad. Among the candidates are Easampalli Rajender, Immadi Rajender,Ippatipalli Rajender and several others. When abbreviated, they write their names as E Rajender. With names like this, it is easy to confuse the voters. While Immadi Rajender is a candidate of the Republican Party of India, Esampalli Rajender is from the New India Party. Similarly, Ippalapalli Rajender, who is from the All India BC OBC party, is also in the fray.

It may be recalled that KA Paul had put up almost 70 candidates whose name resembles the official YSRCP candidates during the 2019 elections. It is another matter that none of them managed to even secure the security deposit. Political observers feel that such namesake candidates will end up confusing the voters and could play a key role in the close contests.

Significantly, only recently KCR has impressed upon the need to remove any symbol with even remote resemblance to car such as lorry, truck, road roller and even roti belan from the list of free symbols to ensure that there is no disadvantage to the TRS official candidates. It remains to be seen how Eatala tackles this challenge.

Congress too fields student leader for Huzurabad bypoll

1

The Congress party finally announced its candidate for Huzurabad Assembly bypoll to be held on October 30.

Although several names of seniors like Konda Surekha surfaced earlier, the party finally opted for a ‘student leader’ and also a ‘local leader’.

The Congress high command on Saturday (today) announced Balmoor Venkat as its candidate for Huzurabad bypoll.

Venkat is currently serving as president of Congress student wing NSUI (National Students Union of India) in Telangana.

The ruling TRS has also fielded its student wing TRSV president Gellu Srinivas Yadav as party candidate for Huzurabad bypoll.

Etela Rajender, who quit TRS to join BJP, is contesting as BJP candidate although the BJP is yet to officially announce his candidature.

Since TRS opted for a local Huzurabad leader and a student leader, the Congress too opted for Venkat, who is a student leader and local leader from Huzurabad.

Huzurabad bypoll is seen as a war between TRS and BJP and remains to be seen where Congress stands in this big battle between KCR and Etela Rajender.

Even if Congress retains the deposit in this election, it will be considered a victory in political circles.

Revanth Reddy is facing first election in Telangana after he took over TPCC chief and if Congress fails to secure deposit in Huzurabad, it will be a big setback for him.

TRS star campaigners list throws new twists!

1

Kalvakuntla Kavitha, Nizambad MLC and daughter of TRS president and Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao received a jolt as her name did not figure in the list of TRS star campaigners for Huzurabad Assembly bypoll.

The bypoll is scheduled for October 30.

The TRS reportedly submitted the list of 20 star campaingers to Election Commission of India on Friday (today).

Speculations are rife in TRS circles that Kavitha’s name is missing from this list. Rajya Sabha member Joginapally Santosh Kumar was also been kept out of the star campaigners list.

Kavitha used to be the star campaigner for TRS in all the elections during Telangana statehood agitation until Telangana Assembly polls in December 2018.

She used to campaign in districts for TRS candidates.

However, the party leadership is sidelining her since 2019 Lok Sabha polls. Her services are not utilised for party especially after her father KCR made his son KTR the party’s working president.

Since then, she is being confined to only Nizamabad district. She has no position in the party or government at present though there were speculations that KCR will take her into his cabinet after she got elected as MLC in October 2020.

But even after a year, she was not taken into cabinet and Kavitha is reportedly upset at her father and brother for ignoring her.
