BJP mind games with AP regional parties?

0

The Amaravati Capital crisis and the YCP-police harassment have come as a big blow to both the main Opposition parties, TDP and Jana Sena. On the other hand, CM Jaganmohan Reddy is himself badly disadvantaged because of his Rs. 43,000-Cr CBI illegal assets cases. In such a difficult situation, the BJP strategists have begun mind games with all the AP regional parties. Their big chance came when Jana Senani Pawan Kalyan literally surrendered to the BJP terms and conditions for their alliance. Very smartly, BJP is saying now that Pawan has come forward for their alliance unconditionally. Prior to his talks with Sunil Deodhar, Pawan spoke of ‘direct action’ of their two parties on Capital shifting agitation but there was no such announcement now. BJP leaders got what they wanted which was making Pawan to openly support the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

BJP has dismissed all possibilities of any tie-up with TDP in 2024 elections. BJP MP GVL Narasimha Rao says that their parties will win next elections in AP. There was a record for their party to start with less than 1 per cent vote share and go on to form governments in some states. With Pawan support, BJP is planning to finish off regional parties’ domination in AP. Has Pawan taken a calculated risk? Or did he make a self-goal by accepting unconditional alliance? Another speculation is that BJP-Pawan alliance will hurt TDP in future but not YCP.

Andhra, Telangana CMs discuss political developments

0

Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana met here on Monday to discuss various issues including the latest political developments at the national level in the wake of the nation-wide protests over Citizenship (Amendment) Act.

After landing here from Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy drove to Pragati Bhavan, the official residence of his Telangana counterpart K. Chandrashekhar Rao.

Rao accorded a warm welcome to Reddy and hosted a lunch for him. After the lunch, they discussed various issues.

While the agenda of their meeting was not officially announced, the two leaders understood to be discussing the political developments at the Centre in the wake of ongoing protests against CAA, National Population Register (NPR) and National Register of Citizens (NRC).

The two Chief Ministers are likely to discuss CAA and related issues to take a stand in view of nation-wide protests. Rao’s Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) had voted against the Bill in Parliament while YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) led by Jagan Mohan Reddy had supported it.

They are also likely to disuss a joint strategy over NPR in view of the demands from various sections, especially Muslims to halt the work on NPR as they believe it to be the first step for NRC. The work on NPR is scheduled from April 1.

Telangana Chief Minister is under pressure from its ally All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and other Muslim groups to stay NPR as done by Kerala and West Bengal. Rao has come under criticism for his silence over the NRC and NPR.

Jagan Mohan Reddy, who was criticised for backing Citizenship Bill in Parliament, last month made it clear that he will not support NRC or any other move by the Centre which discriminates against the minorities.

This is the fourth meeting between Rao and Reddy since the later assumed office in May last year. The earlier meetings were focused on issues arising out of bifurcation of undivided Andhra Pradesh in 2014 and sharing of river waters.

Union Ministers appointments to Raju but not Vijayasai

0

In violation of CM Jagan orders, Narsapur MP Raghurama Krishnam Raju has met two Union Ministers in Delhi without taking prior permission of Vijayasai Reddy. He also moved socially and shook hands with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Raju is also taking a delegation of Thurpu Kapu leaders to meet Minister Gehlot to demand inclusion of their community in OBC list. The MP is being received very well by YCP Ministers who, on the other hand, are putting AP Government Special Representative Vijayasai Reddy at a distance.

CM Jagan Reddy has already imposed restrictions on YCP MPs in Delhi. Following this, most MPs are avoiding direct contact with PM and Amit Shah and Union Ministers. It is because they are upset about Jagan order to take prior permission of Vijayasai Reddy. When AP Governor visited Delhi recently, Vijayasai Reddy met him without giving information to the other MPs. They are unhappy with that incident and they had to meet the Governor very late.

Reports say that the gap between the YCP MPs and Jagan-Vijayasai duo is increasing steadily. Jagan Reddy is very angry against Raghurama Raju’s rebellious activities. But he is not ready to take any action against him considering his strained relations with Modi-Shah duo already. BJP Delhi leaders are no doubt carrying forward their anti-Jagan agenda effectively.

Rs 25,000 Cr loans in 6-month rule: How much in 5 years?

1

The AP people are waking up to more shocking news every few days. Now, it’s getting confirmed that CM Jagan Reddy government brought and spent Rs. 25,000 Cr worth loans in the first six months of its rule. Not a single work in any development project is completed in this period. All major projects like Polavaram and Amaravati are stopped. What has this government done with this money? Even, the Navaratnalu Cash Transfer promises are not being fully implemented. Rythu Bharosa is partially given to farmers beneficiaries.

Is YCP government spending huge loans on unproductive sectors? Hundreds of crores are taken away in the name of painting the ruling party colours to government offices and public facilities. Tens of crores are spent on just furniture and maintenance of CM personal residence at Tadepalli in Amaravati and also at Lotus Pond in Hyderabad. Jagan Reddy used to blame Chandrababu Naidu for the mounting debt burden. At least, Naidu showed a few structures and projects. Now, no such development activity is taken up in last six months but YCP has successfully spent massive loans with no visible results.
Very alarming to imagine how many more loans Jagan will bring in the name of Navaratnalu promises in five years.

IYR’s two-language media formula for Jagan

0

Ex Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao has expressed doubts over the possibility to implement only English medium in government schools. He says that no government can outrightly deny the opportunity to students to study in their mother tongue. To support his comment, IYR refers to the guidelines given in the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act 2009 (RTE Act). This Act has clearly stressed the need for any state government to ensure comfortable education to the children which is possible only in the local language spoken in the homes of the region.

IYR Krishna Rao says that the YCP government would have no choice but to give a choice for the children to study in either Telugu or English medium. There is undoubtedly a rising aspiration among the people in villages for imparting English medium education to their children. But this involves too many problems. There is the risk of students not being able to follow lessons in English. This is why the RTE Act especially prefers mother tongue because the children will be able to grasp the subjects and learn things with ease. Also, the children should be given a choice to shift the medium to Telugu if they are not comfortable with English medium.

Jagan One Chance became death sentence for AP: Naidu

0

Former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu began his day-long Sand Deeksha at Dharna Chowk in Vijayawada demanding free sand policy in the state. Naidu said that he had seen 11 Chief Ministers in his long political career and Jaganmohan Reddy is the most hopeless CM of them all. In the past five months, 50 construction workers committed suicides. Even politicians are committing suicides because of the YCP harassment. Jagan policy caused great suffering to 35 lakh construction workers and many more depending on 125 associated professions.

Referring to election promises, Naidu said that Jagan Reddy asked for ‘One Chance’ and the Andhra people surprisingly gave that opportunity to him. But that One Chance of Jagan has now become a Death Sentence for the poor people all over the state. Naidu asked why Jagan is not stopping illegal transportation of Andhra sand to Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore and Orissa.

Chandrababu said that Jagan Reddy is crossing all decency as he is threatening to continue sand crisis if the cement industry managements don’t pay hefty amounts to YCP. Naidu deplored that Jagan is cruelly manipulating everybody despite its disastrous impact on poor people.

Jagan irresponsible on Amaravati, says Economic Times

0

The Economic Times, a financial daily from the Times of India group, published a very pitiable editorial on the fate of Amaravati Capital City. The paper wrote how Andhra Capital had risen to have a huge potential in terms of attracting investments, real estate growth and contribute to nation building as a whole. To kill such a promising city, it would be an unpardonable and irresponsible act on the part of CM Jaganmohan Reddy, the paper said.

Editorials in Economic Times are taken very seriously by industrialists and governments in India and abroad. For obvious reasons, the Jaganmohan Reddy government got very bad image in national media right from the beginning mainly because of its prejudiced Amaravati policy. But the Economic Times described Amaravati as a unique model in the entire world as it could create a huge economic potential in a short period with minimal resources at hand. However, CM Jagan didn’t ever talk about or even mention Amaravati name even after his 100 day regime.

Other national media are also publishing negative editorials on Jagan Rule. The Indian Express, the Tribune and the Asian Age commented on the dismal performance and oppressive rule of Jagan.

Will KCR give a reasonable deal to AP?

0

All Andhra people know how TRS boss Chandrasekhara Rao has whipped up anti-Andhra feelings and misled Sonia Gandhi to get separate Telangana statehood. KCR did not come forward for solving the reorganisation issues with AP government till there was Chandrababu Naidu as CM. But now, the same KCR is showing never before enthusiasm to solve all bifurcation issues amicably and for giving equal justice to both the states.

Doesn’t KCR know that the highest revenue-earning Hyderabad capital city was bagged by Telangana? AP had no capital city nor any resources. When AP leaders demanded fulfillment of Special Status promise to their States, KCR began demanding the same for Telangana. Now the same KCR is promising a better deal to Team Jagan to solve AP Bhavan, electricity dues, 9th and 10th schedule organisations.
KCR is saying that AP Bhavan in Delhi has been a heritage asset of Telangana. He has set his sights on this centrally located building in the country’s capital city. But as per the bifurcation act, AP has to get its share of 58 per cent while Telangana will get only 42 per cent as per population figures. AP is arguing that AP Bhavan should be divided as per this ratio. Will KCR give an equal and reasonable deal to AP? Analysts say that going by track record, KCR is sure to outwit Team Jagan and deprive AP further.

Jagan balancing act between KCR and Modi

0

AP CM Jaganmohan Reddy is almost caught between TRS and BJP. Telangana CM Chandrasekhara Rao talked of getting national project status for Kaleswaram. But he did not even go and raise it before PM Modi at the Niti Ayog meeting. However, Jagan met Modi and pleaded for special status for his state. There is talk of clear distance growing between KCR and Modi but Jagan is maintaining somehow equal closeness to both leaders.

Now, KCR is facing criticism for his changed policies even as the Modi government is slowly becoming unfriendly to the TRS government. The scene has reversed because earlier BJP used to favour Telangana and discriminate against AP. Jagan has got Modi’s approval for release of huge Central funds for Polavaram and backward areas. Amid these developments, KCR is arriving in AP today to invite Jagan to be the chief guest at Kaleswaram inaugural function.

Jagan’s situation is becoming sandwiched between two rival parties. Analysts say that Jagan has compulsions towards both Modi and KCR which is why he will be playing a balancing act very cautiously.

Jagan to target Naidu on Amaravati and Polavaram?

0

CM-elect YS Jaganmohan Reddy has already given enough hints what his policy would be towards former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu. He is going to take a very serious view of the land pooling scheme taken up for the Capital City. The major allegations being made by YCP leaders are that Naidu and his benami leaders have bought lands at cheaper rates and safely excluded these lands from land pooling scheme.
Jagan has already said that there was a big scam in Amaravati lands. Some villagers outside Amaravati lands were objecting to their lands being taken for the capital. The YCP leaders have demanded justice for these farmers and the new government is all likely to consider their plea.
Also, Jagan’s target will be the second most important project of Naidu and it is the lifeline project of Polavaram. The YCP is complaining that there was lot of corruption in this project also. Only time will tell whether Jagan will streamline and continue these projects or not.

Stalin in role to rope in KCR, Jagan

0

UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi is said to be in close touch with DMK leader M.K. Stalin on building the numbers for the UPA, if push comes to shove following the counting of votes on May 23.

Stalin, whose party is an ally of Congress, is reportedly working the channels to get the support of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), who are likely to be crucial for government formation in the event the Lok Sabha elections throw up a fractured verdict.

This assumes significance in the backdrop of TRS chief’s May 13 meeting with Stalin in Chennai. Though KCR reportedly discussed his idea of a Federal Front and urged Stalin to support the proposed alliance of regional parties, the DMK leader requested him to back the Congress for formation of a non-BJP government.

Since Stalin has taken an initiative, the Congress leadership is believed to have felt it appropriate to entrust him with the task of holding further talks with both KCR and Jagan.

Telangana has 17 Lok Sabha seats and TRS is confident of making a clean sweep with its ally All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) expected to retain Hyderabad.

Banking on her experience of the 2004 and 2009 elections when she successfully cobbled together Congress-led alliance, Sonia Gandhi has stepped up her efforts to once again prepare the ground for the coalition.

As part of this, she has invited political heavyweights for a meeting on May 23.

Andhra Pradesh has 25 Lok Sabha seats. KCR is counting on the support of YSRCP to have joint bargaining power for the Telugu states.

Since KCR considers Telugu Desam Party (TDP) as anti-Telangana, he has thrown his weight behind YSRCP and invited it to join hte federal front.

The TDP, which pulled out of BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) last year, is working for a non-BJP alliance led by the Congress.

TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu is already believed to have communicated to Congress leadership that he will have no problem to TRS being part of UPA. However, he may have reservations about Congress efforts to seek support of YSRCP.

One of the reasons cited by Naidu for his decision to pull out of NDA was BJP warming up to Jagan.

Since UPA may need the support of both, the Congress party is understood to have already initiated efforts to persuade Naidu to take a soft stand in the matter.

It is in this context that DMK leader Durai Murugan’s meeting with Chandrababu Naidu in Amaravati on May 14 is seen as important.

TRS, which won five Lok Sabha seats in 2004, had joined Congress-led UPA after the polls. KCR served as minister in Manmohan Singh cabinet for a couple of years before resigning over the demand for statehood to Telangana.

Though he hailed Congress for agreeing to carve out Telangana state and enjoyed a good rapport with Sonia Gandhi, KCR was accused of betrayal by Congress after he refused to merge TRS with the party.

“Jagan has already made it clear that whichever party gives special category status to Andhra Pradesh will get YSRCP’s support for government formation at the Centre. He has not ruled out support to Congress,” a YSRCP leader, who did not want to be identified, told IANS.

Jagan , YSRCP leaders floating in dreams !

0

Almost all the YCP leaders are busy making plans for their key roles and powerful positions. They firmly believe in their party running government from May 23. Jaganmohan Reddy is no exception to this and he is literally floating in CM dreams. Insiders revealed that Jaganmohan Reddy is making plans to conduct his first YCP Legislature Party meeting at Idupulapaya nearer to his father’s samadhi.

There is also talk that Jagan is not showing interest in conducting his swearing-in function in Amaravati capital city. There’s no clue as yet on this but Jagan is considering various other options for the same. His party leaders are also speculating on who will be given which ministry. Many MLA hopefuls are already making representations to Vijayasai Reddy and YV Subba Reddy. There’s talk that either Roja or Kodali Nani will be made the home minister. The party leaders are also discussing that Jaganmohan Reddy will pursue cases against Chandrababu Naidu to target him and cripple his party once YCP comes to power.

Will BJP arm-twist Jagan ?

1

Barely few days left for the election and it is still not clear as to which party would YSRCP support in the Centre where the rumours are spreading about BJP asking YCP to merge into their party .TDP is a part of the ‘Mahagathbandhan,’ while JSP has formed an in-state alliance with BSP, CPI, and CPM. In the recently held India Today Conclave 2019, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said that he is not against anyone and would support a party which would grant the special category status to A.P. He further stated that he is keeping his options open. So, it is clear that he will not announce any alliance till the results of the elections are announced. This is a calculated move because announcing support to any of the national alliances will have a direct impact on the voters decision.

The conjecture in the state is that Jagan will support the BJP. Both, Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan are alleging that Jagan is an ally of BJP and is deliberately staying mum about it. Aligning with BJP might be detrimental to YSRCP. In the past five years, BJP has neither granted AP the special category status nor extended any financial aid. Also, the ‘Modi Wave’ no longer exists. Demonetisation has distressed the common man and has dented Modi’s image. Considering these factors, YSRCP might have chosen to remain silent about their probable alliance.

Amidst the secrecy and speculations, a common question is doing the rounds; why would Jagan support the BJP? Well, the reasons could be plenty. But, the main one seems to be to free himself from all the charges against him. According to the 47 pages affidavit presented to the election commission by Jagan, there are 31 criminal cases pending against him and most of them pertain to his disproportionate assets. Also, he was arrested by the CBI for embezzlement and was jailed for 16 months. However, he is neither proven guilty nor acquitted of the charges. Therefore, Jagan’s predicament will be fully exploited by the BJP. Arm-twisting is not new to Modi-Shah. Post Jayalalitha’s demise, they have manipulated the political scenario in Tamil Nadu and made sure that AIADMK joined hands with the BJP. Similarly, they will corner Jagan and demand his support in return for saving his assets. Consequently, Jagan will have to walk down that path in order to clear himself from the allegations and safeguard his assets.

Andhra Vs Telangana – it’s a battle of sentiments now

0

K Chandrasekhara Rao came to power by whipping up Telangana sentiment in 2018. In Andhra politics, such regional sentiments usually do not work. Even if they are there, they will not work like a miracle. It’s because Andhra voters are divided across caste and religious lines vertically. The scene has changed to a large extent this time. There is an under current of Andhra sentiment which is in a subtle, steady form.

While KCR used abusive and offensive language to raise T-sentiment, Chandrababu Naidu is just sharply criticising Jagan, Modi and KCR. Naidu’s game plan is clear. He does not use offensive language like he never did in his four decades of long political career. But he is bringing up Andhra sentiment in an indirect way. Thus, anti-Modi and anti-KCR sentiments are building up across the state, which is raising pro-Andhra sentiment eventually.

It is in this respect that the opposition YCP is not able to take full advantage of anti-government factor. Even Jana Senani Pawan Kalyan is not able to make expected impact just because he is not fully addressing Andhra sentiment. Analysts say that like Telangana, there is a chance the TDP will finally get an edge by riding the sentiment wave.

Jagan poll affidavit – BMW, Scorpio, twin towers missing?

0

A lot of focus is given to Jaganmohan Reddy’s election affidavit considering his CBI illegal assets cases. APSRTC Chairman and senior TDP leader Varla Ramaiah demanded that the Election Commission conduct an enquiry into the multi-crore properties that were hidden and not disclosed by Jagan in his affidavit for Pulivendula assembly segment.

Ramaiah asked why Jagan did not include details of his BMW car bearing AT09BN2345 and Scorpio bearing AP09BV1229 which are both bought in his name. The sprawling, multi-crore residential cum office towers of Jagan located at White House in Bangalore and Lotus Pond in Hyderabad were also not shown as his property in the affidavit. This showed that the entire affidavit was full of errors and untruths for which Jagan is known as the brand ambassador.
Ramaiah demanded an explanation from Jagan as to how his property could rise by 1100 per cent which is from just Rs. 1.73 crore in 2004 to Rs. 339.89 crore in 2019. No prominent industrialist could achieve this feat anywhere in the country.

Mr Ramaiah further said that Jagan is no doubt a ‘leader of robbers’ going by his record that he has cited 31 cases in his affidavit while even hardened criminal like Pappu Yadav of Uttar Pradesh has only 28 cases against him. He asked Jagan whether he would stop crushing and destroying AP if he is given a chance to rule the state. He also asked whether Jagan would not hesitate a bit to move the State Capital out of the present Amaravati city only out of vengeance against the TDP government.

ED 2017 letter – Why Jagan surrendered totally to PM Modi?

New evidence is coming out why the BJP government at the Centre has become very soft and friendly to corruption-tainted YCP President Jaganmohan Reddy. And, why Jagan totally surrendered to PM Modi? And also, why YCP senior leader Vijaya Sai Reddy is making rounds and rounds to Prime Minister’s Office frequently. All that was because of the Enforcement Directorate’s 2017 May 31 letter to the CBI to re investigate deeper into Jagan’s assets cases.

The ED said that the CBI had unearthed and filed charge sheets against Jagan for his illegal assets and investments worth Rs. 46,500 crore. But in actuality, there was an unimaginably deeper corruption that Jagan had extended to many more companies and firms. The ED asked the CBI to re-investigate the Indu and Hinduja Quid Pro Quo issue as there is new evidence.

It was after the ED letter to CBI that Jagan started literally prostrating before Modi who in turn began taking political advantage out of this. Consequently, Modi’s approach towards AP has changed dramatically afterwards. The YCP, which was formed as a legacy of YS Rajasekhara Reddy, has become just a toy in the hands of BJP and its former media adviser Prashant Kishor.

Check your status in voter lists – Chandrababu tells voters

0

Never before in India’s electoral history, this kind of a situation might have arisen. There used to be instances of voter lists tampering but not on this massive scale. Both the ruling TDP and the opposition YCP leaders are accusing each other of resorting to these electoral malpractices. But the truth of the matter is largescale form-7 requests were filed for deletion of voters. These forms are filed far away from computers located in Hyderabad and Bangalore.

Against this backdrop, AP CM Chandrababu Naidu has personally called upon each voter to check the status of their name in the voters lists in their respective areas. If any voter’s name is found deleted or missing, he or she should question Jaganmohan Reddy and his party leaders there. The aggrieved voters should also enroll again and make complaints before the electoral authorities concerned. There is no instance of a CM asking voters to check their votes ever before.

Chandrababu said Jagan has no capability to run his own party affairs which is why the YCP president is depending totally on the Bihar-based consultant who is Prashant Kishor. Is it necessary to have such a party and such a leader in this state? Naidu blamed the YCP for indulging in criminal activities but holding the TDP responsible for those activities only for electoral benefits.

Chandrababu fires at Jagan over KCR’s Federal Front

0

AP CM Chandrababu Naidu made fun of Jaganmohan Reddy’s statements with regard to KCR’s Federal Front. Naidu accused Jagan of beginning another drama promising Andhra people to bring special status by working with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). CBN challenged Jagan and KCR to form an open alliance and contest the AP election unitedly if they were really genuine in their efforts to help the AP cause.

Naidu gave his strong comments on the Jagan-KTR meeting on carrying forward the Federal Front plans among regional parties in the country. He said Jagan, KCR and PM Modi are all working together to hurt and damage the prospects of AP in development and welfare sectors all through. The Modi government has to release Rs. 75,000 crore to AP towards its promised assistance to the state as part of separate statehood.

CBN said while PM Modi and KCR are doing outright injustice to AP, Jagan is colluding with them as part of secret deals to cause further damage to AP people. Naidu said KCR and Jagan are forming not Federal Front but it is Modi Front with their aim only to bring back Modi to power at the Centre and destroy AP forever. CBN asserted his TDP party will work with all anti-BJP parties in the country to prevent Modi from continuing as PM in coming election.
