Director Vignesh Shivan on Friday announced that his wife, actress Nayanthara, and he were on their way to Barcelona in Spain for a holiday.

Posting pictures of both himself and Nayanthara inside an aircraft on Instagram, Vignesh Shivan wrote, “After a continuous streak of work, work, work, here we take some time for ourselves! #Barcelona here we come !”

The director then went to add another picture with another post that said, “Enroute to Barcelona with my wifey!”

The director, who was an integral part of the team that planned the opening and closing ceremonies of the Chess Olympiad that was recently conducted in Chennai, has been working hard the last few weeks. He is in a celebratory mood as the part he played in making the event a success has been noticed far and wide.

In fact, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin too had mentioned the director’s name while thanking all those responsible for making the global event a grand success.

Referring to the Chief Minister taking his name, the director had, on Instagram, said, “Unforgettable moment in life when the honourable Chief minister M K Stalin mentioned my name with the kindest and the most encouraging words! Shows the humbleness and the magnanimity of him. My mom and sister being present and my wife watching it on TV and a whole bunch of family members and my friends felt so happy and proud at this moment. Thank you sir. All the hard work was worth this one sweet moment.”

Right from national media to the south Indian media, everyone started speculating that Netflix is all set to release the documentary on the wedding of Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan. The release date is yet to be announced. Top digital platform Netflix issued a clarification about the same. Keeping an end to the speculations, Netflix confirmed the news but did not reveal the name of the documentary or the streaming date.

A bunch of exclusive pictures of Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan are released by the streaming platform from a photo shoot. “These images of Nayanthara and Vignesh have us seeing stars. There are reports that the streaming platform offered a huge price for the documentary which narrates their love story and the wedding visuals.

Director Vignesh Shivan, who wed actress Nayanthara at a grand ceremony at a popular resort in Mahabalipuram recently, posted pictures of their honeymoon in Thailand on Monday.

Posting a series of pictures, Vignesh Shivan said, “In Thailand with my Thaaram.”

The couple, staying at The Siam Hotel, also made it a point to thank all those who had made the arrangements for their wedding through another post.

A day after their wedding, director Vignesh Shivan and actress Nayanthara offered prayers at the holy Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam on Friday.

Sources said the couple left for Tirupati early on Friday morning and had darshan of Lord Balaji there.

Vignesh Shivan, during a press conference to announce his wedding, had said that they had originally planned to get married at Tirupati but then had to drop the idea due to logistic issues.

While Vignesh wore a traditional veshti and white shirt, Nayanthara was seen wearing a yellow saree.

On Thursday, Vignesh Shivan wed the love of his life, actress Nayanthara, at a grand and glittering ceremony at a resort in Mahabalipuram in the presence of close family members and a host of friends from the film industry.

Superstars Rajinikanth, Shah Rukh Khan, Vijay Sethupathi and director Mani Ratnam are some of the high profile guests who have arrived here at the Sheraton Grand for the wedding of director Vignesh Shivan with actress Nayanthara.
