Red has taken a very good opening in the Telugu States as the film has collected a distributor share of 5.20 Cr. This is the second biggest opener for Ram Pothineni behind iSmart Shankar. Theatrical rights of the film are valued for 14 Cr.

Red Movie review – A Lackluster remake

After the super success of Ismart Shankar, Ram is all set for the release of his next film RED, a remake of Tamil blockbuster Thadam. Kishore Tirumala directed this action thriller and Nivetha Pethuraj, Malavika Sharma, Amriya Aiyer played other crucial roles. Ram will be seen in a dual role in RED that is carrying decent expectations. Manisharma is on board as the music director and Ram’s uncle Sravanthi Ravikishore bankrolled RED that is hitting the screens today. Here is the complete review of RED:
Story:
RED is the story of Aditya and Siddharth who are look alikes essayed by Ram. While is Aditya is a thief, Siddharth owns a construction firm and he is in love with Mahima (Malavika Sharma). An unexpected murder makes Siddharth the main accused through a clue. It is then the cops trace out Aditya. The cops get two days of time to find out who is behind the murder of a youngster Akash. Watch RED to know about a series of incidents behind the crime.
Analysis:
Ram seems to be in the complete hangover of his previous blockbuster film Ismart Shankar. Ram exhibits similar shades and is presented in the similar manner as Ismart Shankar. The first half of RED looks bland and uninteresting. The first song with Hebah Patel is a treat for masses. The love story lacks freshness and is quite boring. The interval episodes are quite interesting and keep the audience guessing. On the whole, the first half of RED is neither impressive nor disappointing. The second half is quite crucial for a film like RED.
The second half of RED is focused on investigation and it happens on a serious note. Ram thrills the audience in dual roles but the film has unwanted stuff throughout. The flashback episodes are a huge letdown for the movie. It doesn’t justify the plot or the lead characters of the film. RED lacks engaging narration and misses several logics. The production values of RED are quite poor. The climax too fails to make an impact. Outdated episodes, poor presentation makes the second half of RED fall flat.
Performances:
Ram tops the show with his energetic performance throughout the film. He excels in a dual role. Malavika Sharma looks good in a meaty role. Amritha Aiyer and her portions are quite good. She does her part well. Nivetha Pethuraj performs well as a honest cop. Sampath Raj, Satya and others delivered their best in the film. All the other actors did their jobs well.
RED has a thin plot and is laced around a muder mystery. Though the director tried hard to present the film as a commercial entertainer, he fails to do his job. The music and background score make no sense. The cinematography work is ok and the production values are quite poor. Kishore Tirumala pens some decent dialogues but he fails badly in directing a thriller.
Verdict:
Ram’s RED falls flat as the film offers nothing new and interesting. Except Ram’s performance and few thrilling moments, RED is a huge disappointment.

Red USA Premiers on Jan 13th

Ram responds about his project with Trivikram Srinivas
Telugu360 was the first to break the news that top director Trivikram Srinivas readied an interesting script for Ram and the discussions happened. But the project was put on hold as of now due to the commitments of Trivikram. Energetic Star Ram completed 15 years in Tollywood and his next film RED is hitting the screens for Sankranthi. The Energetic actor interacted with the media recently and responded about working with Trivikram Srinivas.
He said that the project is under discussion stages and Ram is not sure about when the project starts rolling. Ram said that he would work with Trivikram Srinivas very soon. He also said that he has few scripts ready and he would announce them at the right time. As of now, Ram is the only Tollywood actor who is yet to sign his next film. He rejected a series of scripts and is extra cautious after the super success of Ismart Shankar. RED is carrying decent expectations and Ram is super confident on the film in which he essays dual roles.
RED Vs Alludu Adhurs: Will the clash gets averted?
The Sankranthi films announced their release dates in advance to avoid a clash and have a smooth, comfortable release. RED was planned for January 14th release. Though Ravi Teja’s Krack was announced for release on the same day, the makers of the film preponed the release to avoid a clash and have a wide release. Alludu Adhurs featuring Bellamkonda Sreenivas was aimed for January 15th release but the makers took a U-Turn and preponed the film’s release to January 14th.
The Producers Guild announced guidelines to avoid a clash between films and it is now holding talks with the producers of RED and Alludu Adhurs to resolve the issue. Bellamkonda Suresh had a tiff with actor Ram for the sequel of Kandireega in the past and the issue was solved after two years in the Film Chamber. This too may have encouraged the makers of Alludu Adhurs to head for a direct clash though they are citing that they would miss the advantage of Sankranthi festival day.
The distributors are informed and the theatres are locked for Alludu Adhurs. As per the happenings, RED and Alludu Adhurs may head for a clash and this would be highly avoidable. We will have to just wait to see who will dominate at the box-office in this Sankranthi clash.

Sankranthi 2021: Tollywood theatres to get a boost
When the Centre did not grant 100 percent occupancy for theatres, the government of Tamil Nadu recently announced that the theatres and multiplexes across the state can screen movies with 100 percent occupancy. The producers of Telugu states urged the governments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to grant 100 percent occupancy permission during the crucial Sankranthi season. The decision is pending and there are several debates going on.
Ravi Teja’s Krack, Vijay’s Master, Ram’s RED and Bellamkonda Sreenivas’ Alludu Adhurs are the films hitting the screens for Sankranthi. The governments of Telugu states are ready to grant permission for screening extra shows during the holiday season and the discussion about the ticket hike is already on. Even if the 100 percent occupancy permission is not granted, extra shows and ticket hike would help the distributors and producers rake decent profits for their Sankranthi bets. These orders are expected to be issued before this weekend.
Ram’s RED joins Sankranthi Race
Energetic Star Ram completed the shoot of RED long ago and the film was announced for summer release this year but was delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic. Though the makers received interesting digital deals, Ram and the team of RED wanted a theatrical release for the film. After Ismart Shankar, I wish to surprise the fans with my every next project. I recently moved to a new house and am staying single. My friends and family pay frequent visits to my home” says Ram. He is quite cautious about his next and Ram is the only Tollywood actor who hasn’t signed his next.

A leading news daily reported that Ram is in dilemma about the release of the film in theatres and the makers are considering a digital release soon.
Ram trashed the rumors about this saying that he is eagerly waiting for the release of the film on big screen. He said that he locked himself at home. “Nope! #RAPO is not in any dilemma..in fact he’s been chilling at home following the Government’s rules on Social Distancing & Home Quarantine like he’s been doing for the past 15 years or so..Man shrugging & also, he’s waiting to see his fans watch #RedTheFilm on the BIG SCREEN!” posted Ram.
