It has been close to six years since Nagarjuna scored a hit. After Oopiri that released in 2016, Nag did films like Om Namo Venkatesaya, Raju Gari Gadhi 2, Officer, Devadas, Manmadhudu 2, Wild Dog, Bangarraju and The Ghost. Excluding Bangarraju (average grosser), all the other films are colossal failures. His recent film The Ghost released on the eve of Dasara and the film is struggling badly at the ticket windows. Even the Dasara holiday season could not help the film. Nagarjuna is trolled by his hardcore fans on social media for the selections of films.

His fans requested Nag not to attempt such films in the future. The actor has crossed his 60s and he needs to be extra cautious about his upcoming projects. With few options and genres left, Nag should be wise in picking up projects. He is holding talks for various films and he may soon work with God Father fame Mohan Raja in his next. This film also features Akhil Akkineni in a crucial role. An official announcement about the film will be made soon. Nagarjuna is also in talks for a couple of web-based projects that are in the discussion stages.

Nagarjuna picks up one more action entertainer

King Nagarjuna delivered one more debacle with The Ghost. The film failed to register minimum openings and it did not even take the advantage of Dasara holiday season. His fans are left disappointed with the choice of Nag’s films. The veteran actor has been in talks with Tamil director Mohan Raja for a film that was in discussion mode from the past two years. After Mohan Raja bagged the opportunity to direct Megastar Chiranjeevi in Lucifer remake, Nag went ahead with The Ghost. Mohan Raja is relieved and he started working on Nagarjuna’s film.

The film is said to be a stylish action entertainer and the shoot commences later this year. Mohan Raja is giving the final touches for the script. Akhil Akkineni is rumored to play a powerful role in this landmark film of Nag. This happens to be the 100th film for the actor. Planned on a big-budget, the film will be produced by Annapurna Studios. An official announcement is expected very soon. Nagarjuna is currently shooting for Bigg Boss and he has a couple of other projects in the discussion.

On the auspicious day of Dasara, Chiranjeevi’s God Father, Nagarjuna’s The Ghost and Bellamkonda Ganesh’s Swathi Muthyam were released across the Telugu states. Both God Father and The Ghost shared a decent number of screens and Swathi Muthyam released with a lesser screen count. God Father dominated the show across the Telugu states. The word of mouth has been positive and the afternoon, and evening shows are packed all over. The Ghost opened on a dull note and the poor word of mouth did not increase the footfalls. Both The Ghost and Swathi Muthyam remained low all over and did not pick up by evening.

God Father remained decent all over and dominated the other releases. There was a clear impact of the new releases on Ponniyin Selvan and several shows are canceled because of the lack of audience. In some of the regions, the shows of PS1 are replaced with God Father. On the whole, God Father had a packed Wednesday and dominated other releases. Considering the Dasara holiday season and the stars involved, it was not a great Dasara for Telugu cinema.

Nagarjuna confirms his film with Akhil

King Nagarjuna is all set to test his luck with an action thriller The Ghost and the film is announced for October 5th release. Telugu360 already revealed that Nagarjuna will work with his son Akhil in his 100th film and Mohan Raja in on board to direct the film. Nagarjuna during his speech in the pre-release event of The Ghost, Nagarjuna confirmed that he would work with Akhil very soon and an announcement will be made this year. “Early this year, I worked with Naga Chaitanya in Bangarraju and the film ended up as a super hit. The film also got a record TRP among my films. Now, I will work with Akhil very soon and the film would be a bigger one than The Ghost and Agent. Will announce the details soon” told Nagarjuna.

Nagarjuna sounded super confident on The Ghost and the actor proposed the makers to release the film in Hindi after he watched the final copy. He appreciated the work of Praveen Sattaru. The Ghost would be an acid test for Nagarjuna as none of the recent films of Nagarjuna did well in theatres. Nagarjuna and Sonal Chauhan played the lead roles in this actioner. Both these films will open on a decent note and will take the advantage of Dasara holiday season.

But both Chiranjeevi and Nagarjuna are lagging behind by miles when it comes to promoting their films. None of the recent Nagarjuna’s films have done decent in the recent years. The actor has high hopes on his next film The Ghost, an action thriller directed by Praveen Sattaru. The film is jointly produced by Northstar Entertainment and Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP. The film is made on a strict budget of Rs 20 crores including all the remunerations excluding the paycheque of Nagarjuna. The makers pocketed Rs 22 crores through the non-theatrical rights. Asian Films will release this project on their own on an advance basis across the globe.

Nagarjuna was promised Rs 6 crores remuneration for The Ghost. For this, he kept hold of the distribution rights of some of the areas in Andhra region. He will also share the profits if the film collects more than Rs 6 crores in these territories. The trailer of The Ghost generated enough buzz on the film. Sonal Chauhan is the leading lady. Nagarjuna is on a break and he is yet to announce his next film officially.

The actress had fractured her foot during her MMA training and was told to avoid any training/action scenes for the next six weeks.

However, the dedicated actor in Sonal persisted despite the difficulties as she knew she didn’t have the luxury of time.

She resumed her training and completed her shoot for the action scenes and left everyone impressed on the set with her dedication and professionalism. Interestingly, Sonal also took training for weapons for this film since she plays an interpol officer.

Nagarjuna discloses what the title of his upcoming film ‘Tamahagane’ means

Telugu superstar Nagarjuna on Thursday disclosed that the term ‘Tamahagane’ actually referred to a legendary metal that was used to make swords for the fiercest of warriors.

Recently, Northstar Entertainment, the production house producing Nagarjuna’s upcoming film, ‘The Ghost’, had asked a question on social media, asking netizens if they knew what ‘Tamahagane’ was as part of its efforts to promote the film.

Nagarjuna too had reiterated the question posed by the production house, saying, “What is Tamahagane?? Can you guess?”

The question caught the attention of scores of fans and film buffs who tried to find out what the term meant. However, not many could succeed. The promotional measure worked and the question kindled the curiosity of netizens.

On Thursday, Nagarjuna chose to give away the answer. He disclosed, “#TAMAHAGANE!! A legendary metal for the Katana of the fiercest of warriors through the ages. Now in the hands of ‘The Ghost’ !! Trailer out in theatres on August 25th.”

The actor also shared a link to a youtube video which showed him making a sword out of the metal. The promo video shows that the term is actually a combination of two words — ‘Tama’ meaning ‘precious’ and ‘Hagane’ meaning ‘steel’.

Directed by Praveen Sattaru, ‘The Ghost’ will also feature Sonal Chauhan, Gul Panag, Anikha Surendran, Manish Chaudhari, Ravi Varma, Shrikanth Iyyangar and Bilal Hossein among others.

The film, which promises to be an explosive action entertainer, has cinematography by Mukesh G. and music by Mark K. Robin.
