When Nani was called Unnatural Star for the first time?

1

Tollywood star Nani turned out to be an actor who is owned by the entire family among the Telugu audience. He has fans in all the sections aged from 6-60. This is because of his natural acting and boy next door looks. The actor scored a series of super hits with simple light-hearted entertainers in his career. He cemented his position in Telugu cinema and has been busy with a series of projects. But all his recent films ended up as duds after Nani tried to move out of his comfort zone. MCA happens to be the actor’s biggest hit and it released in 2017. Excluding Jersery, all his recent offerings ended up as disappointments.

His recent film Tuck Jagadish headed for a direct digital release and Nani is criticized badly. This time, it is for his performance and not for the script selection. The Natural Star looked quite unnatural as Tuck Jagadish. Several called him ‘Unnatural Star’ after the release of the film. Nani for the first time was badly trolled for his portrayal. His dialogue diction, expressions and body language did not suit the actor really in the film. His fans took social media platforms to urge Nani to do films like Nenu Local and MCA instead of films like V, Tuck Jagadish and Gang Leader.

It’s high time for the actor to rethink about his choices to make it to the next level. Though Nani hiked his remuneration big time, his business did not witness any major boost. It has been fluctuating at the same range for the past four years. Nani is done with the shoot of Shyam Singha Roy and he is shooting for a rom-com titled Ante Sundaraniki currently.

‘Tuck Jagadish’ Movie Review

Tuck Jagadish Review

Tuck Jagadish Review

Telugu360 Rating 2.5/5

Story :

Tuck Jagadish shows the journey of a village youth Jagadish – observing the village and family politics from childhood and his attempts to fix the said issues after coming back to the same village in the official capacity of an MRO. Aadisheshu Naidu (Nazar) is the village head of Bhudevi Puram and stands up to the atrocities of Veerendra Naidu (well versed in typical rowdyism with land encroachments etc…). Bose (Jagapathi Babu) takes up the family responsibility upon his father’s death and surprises everyone with marrying his niece to Veerendra Naidu’s son. Jagadish is Aadiseshu’s son, who returns back to the village as an MRO trying to better things for everyone.

Analysis :

Tuck Jagadish is an out-and-out family drama. The whole premise is an outdated one though the greediness and feud for properties are still relevant in families. Director Shiva Nirvana‘s strength lies in producing emotionally plausible scenes and heart-touching dialogues – very evident with his previous movies Majili, Ninnu Kori. Unfortunately, Tuck Jagadish fails to display these strengths, lacking any emotional scenes to sway the audience. Weaving in too many threads without firmly establishing the various characters, leaves the audience a bit confused as they try to understand who’s in the family dynamic. The Nani, Ritu Varma love track seems half-baked.

On a positive note, Tuck Jagadish carries a nice message. It underscores the strength of a joint family where brothers have an unshakable bond. Except for the ‘Inko Sari Inko Sari’ song, the rest are forgettable.

Performances:

Nani’s performance is on the subtle side in this movie. His emotional scenes with his niece are excellent. However, there are a few intensive scenes, where subtlety is a no-go. Ritu Varma has a very limited screen presence. Nazar, Rao Ramesh got small, tailor-made roles. Jagapathi Babu’s characterization affected his performance. Aishwarya Rajesh got the author-backed role and she did well.

Production values by Shine screens are adequate. Prasad Murella’s cinematography captured the rural flavor nicely. Thaman music works only in one song, the background score by Gopi Sundar is decent.

Verdict :

Tuck Jagadish is a dated story, which eventually goes down a predictable path. Natural Star Nani and competent performances from the rest of the cast save this film to an extent. The slow-paced family story might be a passable watch for the OTT audience.

Tuck Jagadish Is A Festival Film To Be Enjoyed With Family: Producer

Nani’s Tuck Jagadish is all set for release on Amazon Prime Video on 10th of this month for Vinayaka Chavithi.

The film skips the theatrical release, owing to unfavorable conditions for movie releases in theatres.

However, hero and makers of the movie are blamed for going for the digital release.

Nani and director Shiva Nirvana already told their version, and producer Sahu Garapati in his interaction with media stated that the film was made for theatres experience, but due to unfavorable circumstances they are opting for OTT release.

“There was lots of criticism for OTT release. Everyone told their version. We too have our own issues. Thankfully, we got good support from the industry. Hope, they too understand on why we went for OTT release. Tuck Jagadish is a festival film to be enjoyed with entire family.”

The producer further says theatre business hasn’t yet opened in other states and overseas. “It’s a huge budget film which needs world market to be opened for big release. Since things are still not under control, and there is fear of third wave, we had no other option left, but going for digital release.”

Sahu admits theatre revenue is bigger than any other platform. “We too feel bad for missing the big opportunity to release the movie in theatres.”

The next big project from Shine Screens is Balakrishna’s film under Anil Ravipudi’s direction which will be announced for Dussehra.

They also have a film with Naga Chaitanya and director of the same will be announced soon.

Disappointed at not being able to release ‘Tuck Jagadish’ in theatres: Shiva Nirvana

When director Shiva Nirvana started shooting for ‘Tuck Jagadish’ with Nani and other actors in February last year, he had never imagined that the intense family drama he was making wouldn’t hit the big screen.

The director and screenwriter had grand plans of releasing the much-awaited movie in theatres. He recalls that Nani and he used to discuss which action sequence, power-packed dialogue or emotional scene would evoke thunderous applause, claps and whistles from audiences in theatres.

They will be missing all that fan craze as the movie is being released on an OTT platform. ‘Tuck Jagadish’ is scheduled for a global premiere on Amazon Prime Video on September 10.

Shiva became emotional at the trailer launch event on Wednesday while speaking about how Nani and he felt while deciding to release the film on OTT instead of theatres.

He defended Nani, who is facing criticism from a section of filmmakers for opting for an OTT release. Some have even called for the boycott of his movies.

The ‘natural star’, as Nani is popularly called in Tollywood, empathised with those targeting him. “They are my elders. I have immense respect for them. There’s nothing wrong because I understand the situation they are in. I am one of their family. I empathise with them,” the actor said.

“Some are saying they will ban my movies. If the situation is good and still I don’t go for a theatrical release, others will be justified in banning me. In fact, I will ban myself,” Nani added, justifying the decision to go for an OTT release.

Shiva, whose debut movie ‘Ninnu Kori’ with Nani was a blockbuster, is pained over the attack on the actor. He recalled that whenever Nani went to theatres for premieres, he would stand at the door to watch the reaction of audiences.

In an interview to IANS, Shiva Nirvana said a theatrical remains his first choice, but the situation compelled the production team to take a collective decision to go for an OTT release.

“From my childhood, I used to watch films in theatres. There was no OTT even when I got obsessed with filmmaking. ‘Tuck Jagadish’ has a big cast, complex emotions, a great musical score and beautiful visuals. I never imagined it will be released on the small screen, but when things happen differently, we need to change ourselves,” Shiva said.

“Nani and I used to discuss the kind of response the film would get from audiences in theatres. We felt very disappointed. If there is one disadvantage, there will be one advantage.

The crowd cheering, claps and whistles won’t be there when you see the movie at home, but we will reach out to more people and that is the advantage. If you want to gain some advantage, you have to accept some disadvantages.”

The director pointed out that their target audience is the 25-60 age group. “Women will like this film, but in the present situation they can’t come to theatres. The impact of the second wave is still there,” Shiva said.

He added: “There is fear in their minds, there is uncertainty in Andhra Pradesh and overseas. Some theatres have not even opened. We must accept the fact. I want more people to watch the film. People who can’t come to theatres, can watch the film on Amazon.”

Shiva revealed that in the hope that the situation would eventually get better, they kept advising the producers to wait. “We said to the producers that this film should go to theatres, there is no alternative,” he recalled. “It was originally scheduled to be released on April 16. We kept postponing, but how long can they wait? We also had to see the problems of producers, the interest (on loans) was mounting and there was no end to uncertainty. In Andhra Pradesh there are no second shows and in other places theatres have not opened. At one point, we had to take a decision and we took the decision collectively,” Shiva pointed out.

Shiva and Nani have also assured the producers that in case of losses, they will not demand the remuneration that is due to them.

Shiva believes that making a film for OTT will be a little different from films made for release in theatres. “There is so much great stuff on OTT platforms. If I want to really make some great stuff for OTT, definitely I would like to do it, but doing a film for theatre and giving it for OTT does not feel right. If you wish to go for OTT, plan for it because it involves completely different elements of filmmaking, script writing, and so one.”

‘Tuck Jagadish’ is my return gift to fans: Nani

1

Leading Tollywood actor Nani believes that ‘Tuck Jagadish’, releasing on Amazon Prime Video on September 10, will be his return gift to family audiences who always showered him with love and support.

One of the most sought after actors in the industry and the one who is described as a natural actor, he is excited over the output of the film directed by Shiva Nirvana, whose debut movie ‘Ninnu Kori’ with Nani was a blockbuster.

In an interview to IANS, the actor spoke about his expectations from the movie, the experience of shooting during the pandemic and the reasons for OTT release.

On expectations from ‘Tuck Jagadish’

We are very excited. The film has come out very well. It’s going to directly come on Amazon because the situation outside is not clear. This is the best way we could reach out to the audience. There are lot of expectations and people are waiting to watch the film. I am completely confident that this film will deliver what it promised. Shiva has made a very beautiful Telugu family film. It’s going to release on Vinayak Chauthi. For all families to sit at home on festival day and watch a film which was made for families, I think it’s a perfect combination.

On ‘Tuck Jagadish’ comparison with his earlier movies

This is very different from what I have done before because this is first time I am doing something which includes a huge family. I have only acted in films where I have minute family or a boy who doesn’t have anybody and then all kinds of roles but this is first time I am playing a guy who belongs to a family of 20-30 people. It’s a huge family. From the beginning of my career I have this love and support of family audiences. I really feel this is my gratitude towards them. This is my return gift for them, something that they will all enjoy.

On title ‘Tuck Jagadish’

In that village we are showing in the film, he is the only one who always tucks in. Jagadish is very common name. He is called ‘Tuck Jagadish’ because of his identity in that village. We have explained in the second half why he always tucks in.

Shooting during the pandemic

It was quite challenging like for everybody else. Everybody is going through lot of changes in their shooting atmosphere because of corona, the fear and situation. It’s definitely not like before. We don’t feel the same like we used to. Everything has changed for the entire world. It’s different but we are getting accustomed to it.

On OTT platform

This is my second film on OTT. Last year ‘V’ was released on Amazon on September 5 and exactly one year later we are releasing ‘Tuck Jagadish’. First of all, I was very happy because there were no theatres and we could not reach lot of people. Even now when theatres have not opened in lot of states, Amazon is giving us a chance to reach all audiences across the globe. In 240-plus countries we are reaching millions and millions of people in comfort of their homes. In situation like this, it’s a brilliant opportunity. When things get back to normal and all theatres reopen we will have same relationship of having a theatrical release.

Even with theatrical release we will not have that kind of access. With theatrical release we will have access to around 10 countries. We have prime markets US, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia. These are only countries that have theaters which play Indian films. We regularly access them. Places which do not have theaters and don’t play Indian films will get to see the move on first day. The moment ‘Tuck Jagadish’ is up everybody will have access. Every Telugu or every Indian who wants to watch will have access wherever in the world they are.

Reason for releasing ‘Tuck Jagadish’ on OTT

Because of the situation. Theaters haven’t opened up completely. There are big stakes involved. ‘Tuck Jagadish’ is very solid budget film. In this kind of situation with 50 per cent occupancy, curfew for night shows and all happening around us and in USA which is very substantial market for Telugu audiences there are high number of cases right now. Taking everything into consideration we decided to have OTT release.

I am hoping things to settle in. Any filmmaker, any technician or actor all want to see on big screen with audience.

On his next movies

My next movie is ‘Shyam Singha Roy’. We have done with shoot and currently post production is happening. We are looking for November-December release in theaters. I am right now shooting for ‘Ante Sundaraniki’ which will release early next year. This will also release in theaters. I am really hoping things will get normal very soon.

I have two films under production which I am producing and both are at 70 per cent shoot.

Nani’s Tuck Jagadish Trailer: Emotional Family Drama

Tuck Jagadish will be the second film of Nani that will skip theatrical release after V. Tuck Jagadish will stream on Amazon Prime from September 10th and the trailer launch event took place in Novotel Hyderabad this evening. Shiva Nirvana who banked big on emotional dramas through Ninnu Kori and Majili is taking the same route with Tuck Jagadish. Naga Chaitanya’s Love Story will have a theatrical release and the film is carrying good expectations. Nithiin’s Maestro will stream on Disney Plus Hotstar from September 9th.

Tuck Jagadish and Love Story Release dates triggers Controversy

The other day, the Telangana Exhibitors met to discuss the issues and about the OTT releases in Telugu cinema. Asian Suniel who produced Naga Chaitanya’s Love Story fired at the makers of Tuck Jagadish and asked them to change their digital streaming date of the film as Love Story is announced for September 10th release. Some of the exhibitors lost their cool and made strong comments against Nani and the makers of Tuck Jagadish.

Both Tuck Jagadish and Maestro are heading for a digital release on the same day but the exhibitors spoke about Tuck Jagadish. There was no mention of Nithiin’s Maestro during the press conference. Amazon Prime acquired the rights of Tuck Jagadish and locked the release date. Amazon will now take the call on the release date and neither Nani nor the makers will have a chance to change the date. There are speculations that the makers of Love Story are in plans to move further to avoid a clash with Tuck Jagadish.

With a number of theatres available across Telugu states, Love Story marks the first big release after the second wave and will have a huge advantage. Missing the Vinayaka Chavithi weekend would not be a wise move really. Love Story is carrying huge expectations and it is directed by Sekhar Kammula. Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi played the lead roles in this romantic entertainer.

Inside Story: All about Tuck Jagadish digital Deal?

Natural Star Nani is one actor who loves to enjoy the cinema in theatres. The actor would be present in theatre to watch his film on first-day morning show along with the audience. He even takes time to watch the films of his co-stars on the silver screen. Tuck Jagadish would be his second film to head for a direct digital release after V. Nani turned emotional recently and penned a heartful note about the film heading for a digital release. Nani is the only Tollywood actor who responded about theatres and the ticket price GO issued in Andhra Pradesh. Everyone, right from his fans to the trade circles are left in shock after Tuck Jagadish skipped theatrical release. Here is the inside story and the what really happened behind:

Tuck Jagadish is one of the hottest Telugu films in trade among the medium-budget films. Laxman of Bridge Films acquired the theatrical rights for a fancy price last year. The makers also sold the non-theatrical rights and made decent profits.

After films like Thimmarusu, SR Kalyanamandapam opened well at the ticket windows, the distributors and the exhibitors mounted pressure on Laxman and Shine Screens to release Tuck Jagadish in theatres. Some of the distributors even promised to pay decent advances but Laxman was not ready for the bet. He backed out from the theatrical deal and wanted the makers to return back the paid advance along with interests. The biggest twist here is that the makers of Tuck Jagadish already sealed the digital deal 45 days ago but this was never disclosed to anyone, even to the lead actor Nani.

Nani offered a pay cut in his remuneration and wanted the makers to release Tuck Jagadish in theatres. With the makers tight-lipped on this, he released an emotional note and decided to support Tuck Jagadish in the best way. The distributors and the entire exhibition sector are now furious on Shine Screens for leaving them behind in these tough times. But the damage is already done.

The film will now stream on Amazon Prime from Vinayaka Chavithi weekend.

Nani’s heart-touching message about Tuck Jagadish

0

Natural Star Nani is done with the shoot of Tuck Jagadish some time ago and the film’s theatrical release is kept on hold. With the situations unfavorable for a theatrical release and with lot of stake on hold, the makers of the film took a call and decided to head for a direct digital release. Actor Nani released an emotional note about what made them take the extreme step of having a digital release. The actor recently made some strong statements about theatres and enjoying films in theatres. But Nani explained that the makers of Tuck Jagadish are under extreme pressure and there is a lot of stake involved which made them head to take this extreme step. He also said that he will humbly respect the decision of his producers and this is his second film that is heading for a direct digital release.

“I am the biggest fan of theatres and Tuck Jagadish is a quintessential Telugu film which we would’ve loved watching in a theatre with a full house and it was always meant to be experienced on the big screen for a festival. I am quite torn between the pressures the producers are facing in these uncertain times with big stakes at risk. With the unpredictable conditions here and abroad and the unfortunate restrictions on theatres in Andhra, it has become a conflict in many ways. I have the utmost respect for the producers and I believe any call regarding the film they make, should be theirs. So here I am, at crossroads for the second time! Leaving the decision about Tuck Jagadish to SHINE SCREENS. No matter what, I will do my 100 percent till it reaches all of you in whatever way” posted Nani.

Tuck Jagadish Row: Gopi Sundar replaces Thaman

0

The entire Tollywood is speculating that all is not well between Shiva Nirvana, the director of Tuck Jagadish and the film’s music composer Thaman. After the creative differences took the lead, Shiva Nirvana approached Gopi Sundar to complete the film’s background score. There are speculations that the post-production work of the film is pending and Tuck Jagadish needs ample time to complete the work. Gopi Sundar completed the background score couple of months ago and Shiva Nirvana locked the final copy of the film recently.

The makers of Tuck Jagadish approached Gopi Sundar as per the suggestion from Shiva Nirvana. Gopi Sundar composed music for Shiva Nirvana’s Ninnu Kori and Majili. The deals for the film are closed and an official announcement about the digital release will be made soon. The makers wanted to revive the film and head for a theatrical release but they felt that it would be a huge risk considering the current situation.

Tuck Jagadish features Nani, Ritu Varma, Aishwarya Rajesh and Jagapathi Babu in the lead roles and the film is expected to stream on Amazon Prime from September 10th.

Tuck Jagadish total deals @ Rs 51 Cr

1

The news broke out that Nani’s upcoming movie Tuck Jagadish will head for a direct digital release through Amazon Prime. The digital giant acquired the digital rights of the film for Rs 7 crores and it was planned to be streamed on the platform 56 days after the theatrical release. The makers sold the satellite rights for Rs 7.5 Cr (Star MAA), Hindi dubbing rights for Rs 4.5 crores and the audio rights are picked up by Aditya Music (Rs 2 Cr).

The makers of Tuck Jagadish pocketed Rs 51 crores through all the rights. That would be a decent one for the makers considering the pandemic situation. An official announcement about the direct digital release will be made very soon. Directed by Shiva Nirvana, Tuck Jagadish is a mass entertainer loaded with family emotions and Nani, Ritu Varma, Aishwarya Rajesh played the lead roles. Nani’s Tuck Jagadish is back to OTT Path

The coronavirus pandemic along with the government of Andhra Pradesh is testing the patience of the producers. Several films completed all the formalities and are waiting to release their films in theatres. But with the situations not favorable and a lot of economics involved, they had to choose the path of a direct digital release. Nani’s Tuck Jagadish is the latest one to head for a direct digital release. Amazon Prime paid a bomb and the deal was closed recently.

An official announcement about the same will be made by the makers in the next couple of days. Tuck Jagadish is directed by Shiva Nirvana and it features Nani, Ritu Varma, Aishwarya Rajesh, Jagapathi Babu, Naresh and Rao Ramesh in the lead roles. The film is produced by Shine Screens and is carrying good expectations. If the situations continue to be the same, some more films will head for a direct digital release.
