Kollywood urges not to remake Karnan in Telugu

Because of the digital platforms, film lovers got a golden opportunity to watch films of other languages through sub-titles. Tamil Superstar and Tollywood Star Director Sekhar Kammula are joining hands for a Trilingual film in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi languages. Sri Venkateswara Cinemas LLP Banner which is bankrolling this sensational project came up with the official announcement the other day.

Dhanush has responded about the film and seems to be totally pumped up about joining forces with Sekhar Kammula and Sri Venkateswara Cinemas LLP Banner.

“Really excited to be working with one of the directors I admire @sekharkammula sir and also elated to join hands with NarayanDasNarang sir and PuskurRamMohanRao sir under @SVCLLP banner for this trilingual. Looking forward to this (Sic),” Dhanush tweeted.

The movie will go on floors later this year and the pre-production works are going on at a brisk pace. Meanwhile, Kammula is currently awaiting the release of his Love Story.

Dhanush’s Jagame Thandhiram Review: Half Baked

Tamil actor Dhanush who has been on top form with back to back hits tested his luck with Jagame Thandhiram. The film had a direct digital release on Netflix today. Karthik Subbaraj directed this gangster drama and Aishwarya Lekshmi, James Cosmo played other important roles. Y Not Studios in association with Reliance Entertainment produced Jagame Thandhiram. Here is the review of the film:

Jagame Thandhiram starts in Madurai and it narrates the story of Suruli (Dhanush), a local gangster. A famous gangster Peter (James Cosmo) seeks the help of Suruli to assassinate Sivadoss (Joju George). After completing the mission successfully, Suruli joins the big league of gangsters. The rest of Jagame Thandhiram is all about what happens in Suruli’s life and the major challenges he faces in his journey. Watch the film to know about the complete story.

Jagame Thandhiram is an underwhelming drama that starts off with a bang and it relies majorly on the mannerims of Dhanush. Santosh Narayanan’s work stands out tall in this poorly written and half baked gangster drama. Dhanush makes sure that he delivers his best throughout the film. As Suruli, he is the best. The film falls flat after the entire story shifts to the United Kingdom. There is hardly a sequence that the audience would remember after the film gets completed.

The flashback episodes are passable but they could not save the film for sure. Karthik Subbaraj could not utilize Dhanush as the actor can alone take the film to the next level. Jagame Thandhiram has a bunch of renowned actors but they could not save the film because of the poor script. Everything in Jagame Thandhiram looks unnatural as the film happens in the UK. The background score is solid and the cinematography work looks good. The makers spent lavishly on the film. Karthik Subbaraj could not utilize the opportunity well.

Verdict:

Jagame Thandhiram is half baked and unnatural. Except Dhanush’s performance and the background score, the film offers nothing.

The trailer shows Dhanush as a witty gangster from Tamil Nadu who travels all the way to London to lock horns with a British gangster played by James Cosmo.

Dhanush and James Cosmo’s characters in the initial scenes of the trailer are introduced like brothers.

The trailer labels Dhanush as the original gangster and has glimpses of intense action sequences featuring the gangster, who is not afraid to make mistakes.

Dhanush is at his usual best in the role, wherein Joju George who too appeared in the trailer makes his presence felt.

Aishwarya Lekshmi is the leading lady in the film that marks first collaboration of Dhanush and director Karthik Subaraj.

Produced by Y NOT Studios, in association with Reliance Entertainment, Jagame Thandhiram was earlier slated to release in theatres. But because of the pandemic, the makers have zeroed in Netflix as the release platform.

The film will arrive on the OTT platform on 18th of this month.

Dhanush to clash with Rajinikanth

King Nagarjuna has been extremely impressed with a script narrated by Dhanush and signed the film soon. Dhanush seamlessly wears actor-director hat: Aditi Rao Hydari

Actress Aditi Rao Hydari, who is returning to Tamil cinema with a project directed by and co-starring Dhanush, says he is effortless in managing both the fields.

On her experience of collaborating with Dhanush for the first time, Aditi told IANS in an interview: “This is his second directorial and one should see how effortlessly he is directing the film and playing the protagonist as an actor. He is such a multitasker. I must say that Dhanush wears the hat of director and actor pretty seamlessly.”

“Though all actors do not make good directors, Dhanush is really one of the finest. He knows exactly how to direct an actor to extract the performance the way he wants it. Perhaps that is happening because he is a performer himself,” added the actress, who started her career in Bollywood with the film “Yeh Saali Zindagi” in 2012.

Aditi essayed the pivotal role of Begum Mehrunisa in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Padmaavat” and has acted in films like “Delhi-6”, “Rockstar”, “Wazir”, “Fitoor”, “Daas Dev” among others.

Now she is constantly balancing her Bollywood projects along with her work in regional films. She even had a role in Tamil film “Chekka Chivantha Vaanam”.

The upcoming yet untitled film with Dhanush is quite challenging for her to shoot since it is a bilingual in Tamil and Telugu.

“Dhanush is very passionate about cinema and working with a great team which has made me really comfortable despite the challenge of not knowing the language, I am very happy to go on the set everyday.

However, she said: “Such passionate directors really gives actor challenge. There are days when I just feel like crying because as a performer I am pushing the envelope and do not know if I will be able to match up the expectations. But when we get it right, that’s a different kind of happiness.”

We are the first to break the news that King Nagarjuna is in talks with young Tamil actor Dhanush for a multi-starrer. Dhanush met Nag during his last Hyderabad trip and discussed about the possibility of teaming up for a film. With positive nod from Nag, Dhanush developed the script and narrated it to Nag recently. Nag was extremely impressed with the actor’s narration and asked him to go ahead. However the final call would be taken once the complete narration will be given.

Dhanush himself will direct this multi-starrer and the regular shoot of the film is expected to start during the second half of this year. Top production house Sri Thenandal Films will bankroll this project and the female leads are yet to be finalized. More details about this project are awaited.
