Sharwa and Ritu Varma pair up!
Hero Sharwanand has taken yet another film to the sets. To be directed by a newcomer, Shree Karthick, Sharwa will be romancing ‘Pelli Choopulu’ beauty Ritu Varma in this latest film.
Touted to be based on inseparable bonding in friendship and love, this untitled film will also star Nassar Vennela Kishore and Priyadarshi in supporting roles.
The film was launched on Wednesday in Chennai and the shooting commenced right after the launch.
Interesting this film will have director Tharun Bhascker’s hand too as he is penning the dialogues.
Dream Warrior Pictures banner which is a popular production house in Kollywood, is bankrolling the movie and will have music of Jakes Bejoy and cinematography by Sujith Sarang.
Ranarangam Extended Weekend (4 days) Worldwide Collections – Below Par
Ranarangam has a below par first weekend as the film has collected a distributor share of 7.50 Cr.After a good opening day the film has dropped on second day, went down further on third day(Saturday) and couldn’t show the required growth on fourth day ie, Sunday. Worldwide theatrical rights of the film are valued for 14.30 Cr. The film is a disaster in overseas as it wont even recover the expenses. It will drop today and it needs to be seen how big it is going to be.

US box office : Evaru emerges as hit, Ranarangam is an outright disaster
Two medium budget films Evaru and Ranarangam released last week. While Evaru emerged as a decent hit, Ranarangam turned out to be an outright disaster at the US box office.
Adivi Sesh’s suspense thriller Evaru, which received rave reviews and superb word of mouth from all sections of audience, collected respectable gross in the first weekend in USA. After taking a good start with $ 61K from Wednesday premiers and $ 43K from first day, the film added good numbers in the weekend ( $ 73K on Friday, $ 105K on Saturday) to surpass the quarter million mark. By the end of Sunday, the film is poised to collect close to $ 350K in USA. After scoring success with Kshanam and Godachari, Sesh has once again delivered a box office hit with Evaru.
Sharwanand’s latest gangster drama Ranarangam has come a cropper in the first weekend. The unusual strategy of not screening premiers has backfired bigtime and the film has turned out to be an outright disaster as it failed to collect the theatre expenses by the end of Sunday. The Sudheer Varma directional showed no signs of improvement in the weekend after taking a low start with $ 21K from Thursday. With Friday’s $ 17K and Saturday’s $ 21K, the film continued its disappointing run. As of this writing, Ranarangam collected close to $ 5K on Sunday and is likely to end up with less than $ 75K in the first weekend.
Ranarangam Day1 AP/TS Collections – Highest Opening for Sharwanand
Ranarangam has a taken a good opening in Telugu States with a distributor share of 3.80 Cr. This is the highest opening ever for a Sharwanand Starrer as it has surpassed Shatamanam Bhavati which had collected 3.06 Cr share. Independence holiday has helped the film big time. Theatricals of the film in Telugu States are valued for 12.50 Cr. It is carrying mixed reports and the weekend is going to be very crucial for a breakeven.

On the outset, Ranarangam’s genre is a tried and tested formula which has either worked greatly or has fallen flatly in the past. But how does Sudheer Varma make Ranarangam interesting to watch and how does Sharwanand fit into the setup designed by the director? Let’s see that here.
Story :
Deva (Sharwanand) is a young man from the port-side slums in Vizag who, along with his friends, is into selling tickets in black near cinema halls in mid-90s. The prohibition rule by the government of AP entices Deva to sell liquor illegally by exporting from Orissa through various means. But he has a competitor in that business, the local MLA Simhachalam (Murli Sharma). Parallely, Deva is in love with Geetha (Kalyani Priyadarshan) who lives in his neighborhood and the two eventually get married. In the tug of war between Deva and Simhachalam, Geetha gets killed in a bomb blast plotted by the latter and the former seeks vengeance. After avenging the death of Geetha, Deva quits the dirty world and flies to Spain with his months-old daughter and decides to live a clean life. But his past haunts him and he is forced to come back to India. What happens next and how Deva handles the situation forms the crux of story in Ranarangam.
Positives:
Sharwanand is good in his role and hits it out of the park with his performance. His look as a dreadful gangster is perfectly suited to him and the actor is impressive. Kalyani Priyadarshan is gorgeous in her role and delivers a decent performance. Murli Sharma once again proves in Ranarangam why he is the most sought-after actor for supporting roles.However , his role resembles ‘ Indrudu Chandrudu ‘ kamal Hasssan
Speaking about director, Sudheer Varma ..The back and forth to past and present in the screenplay failed to keep audience hooked onto the narrative.
The real shot in the arm of Ranarangam is the background score which is by Prashanth Pillai. The intense and vibrant score makes the watching experience enjoyable. Production design of Ranarangam is impeccable and in sync with the theme of the film. Color tones chosen for the scenes create the mood keeping the viewers in sync with the narrative.
Negatives:
All the above said elements get hampered by the very slow narrative in Ranarangam which tests your patience. While Sharwanand is at the centre of everything in the film, it gets a bit of overdose at many junctures. Sharwanand has a gang of friends who are with him throughout and they have a longer screen time than Kajal Aggarwal. As she enters in the second half of the film, her presence is in only few scenes which go undefined. Although the run time is 2 hours and 18 minutes, at the end of the movie you don’t get that feeling and walk out with a feeling that you were in there for a very long time.
The back and forth play in the narrative is a bit of an overdose and hampers the watching experience in Ranarangam. You’d have ample time to wonder why a particular scene was in the film and that scene wouldn’t have been done with yet.
Verdict : Sharwanand and the production design are the best parts of ‘ Ranarangam ‘. But , the slow narration and weak second half make this film a tedious watch.

Ranarangam Sound Cut trailer is innovative and impressive
Interesting promos have created a strong buzz on Sharwanand’s Ranarangam. Director Sudheer Varma is adept at making technically strong films and the theatrical trailer laced with good technical values has hinted that Ranarangam is yet another similar attempt from him.
As the film gears up for release this 15th, the makers have unveiled an innovative sound cut trailer this Sunday. The one minute trailer features the sound effects of various crucial sequences in the film and they create a strong impact to elevate these scenes. This is a unique way to promote the film.
Sharwanand is playing a gangster in this crime thriller and Kajal Aggarwal is the leading lady.
US Premieres – Weird strategy for Ranarangam
It is quite common for Telugu films, either small or big budget, to have premiers screened in overseas few hours before the theatrical release in India. The word of mouth from premiers is considered to be very crucial as it will define the film’s trade prospects. So, it is very rare for a Telugu to not have premiers in overseas. Sharwanand’s Ranarangam is going to be one such film in recent times.
Ranarangam, directed by Sudheer Varma, is slated for release on August 15th. Reportedly, the film will release on the same day in overseas with no premiers. All shows will start from morning 9 AM local time on 15th in all overseas locations. This is a weird strategy considering that the film is carrying good buzz in audience and the premiers may definitely fetch good numbers and set the tone for a strong run if it gets encouraging talk. The reason for cancelling the premiers is not known.
Sharwanand is playing a gangster in this crime thriller which has a crisp run time of 138 minutes.Kajal Aggarwal and Kalyani Priyadarshini are the female leads. Sithara Entertainments banner is bankrolling the film.
Ranarangam Trailer : From rags to riches, the journey of a Gangster
After giving a peek into Sharwanand’s role with an impressive teaser, the makers of Ranarangam unveiled the theatrical trailer this Sunday to give more detailing about the plot and the lead protagonist.
The two minute trailer, which chronicles two different time periods, showcases the journey of a local smuggler turning an international gangster. It starts off with a vintage love story set in the 90s. Sharwanand is a local hooligan who involves in petty crimes and violence for money. Under dramatic circumstances, he turns an international gangster and the rest of the trailer see-saws between the two contrasting characters.
Sharwanand seems to have pulled off both roles with a lot of elan. His serious demeanor as a smuggler and the swag he displays as gangster are very convincing and fitting. Kajal Aggarwal and Kalyani Priyadarshini are the female leads. The dialogues are realistic and appropriate. The background score by Prasanth Pillai and visuals provided by Divakar Mani accentuate the crime backdrop very well. Director Sudheer Varma has a knack of narrating crime stories with riveting screenplay and Ranarangam seems to be yet another such attempt.

Sharwanand in waiting mode for Samantha
After Sharwanand injured himself during a skydiving stunt in Thailand, the actor returned back to Hyderabad and was advised two months rest. But the actor took a break for a month and started shooting for 96 remake in Vizag. The recent schedule got completed and the next schedule is expected to start soon. Sharwanand is in plans to complete the shoot of 96 remake at the earliest and join the sets of his next film. The film is titled Sreekaram and is announced for Sankranthi. Sharwanand is not in a mood to miss the festival season.
Sharwanand is romancing Samantha in 96 remake and the actress has her dates full for the entire August. With nothing much to do, the makers planned the new schedule in September and the rest of 96 remake will be wrapped up in a single schedule in September. The makers are targetting to release 96 remake for Diwali in October. Prem Kumar is the director and Dil Raju is the producer. Jaanu is the title considered for this breezy romantic drama.
Ranarangam song: Sweet tune and adorable romance!
In the first song from ‘Ranarangam’ we have seen Sharwanand and Kalyani Priyadarshan tying knot. Seems like there is a before story and it’s the romance of Sharwa and Kalyani.
The song ‘Kannu Kotti’ is out now and it has idiosyncratic composition. Karthik Rodriguez composed and crooned it. His voice is also different and that’s something unique about the song. Then comes the visuals with endearing romance of Sharwa and Kalyani. Sharwa steals the show with his convincing expressions while his costumes are colorful and there is a liveliness in his performance. Kalyani too looks beautiful in traditional attire.
Lyrics are penned by Krishna Chaitanya and they match the lead pair’s love. ‘Ranarangam’ is being directed by Sudheer Varma and produced Sithara Entertainments. Release is on August 15th.
Seetha Kalyanam song: Alluring love of Sharwa and Kalyani
Young hero Sharwanand is doing ‘Ranarangam’ which is a gangster backdrop movie. But the makers surprised everyone by kick-starting the musical promotions with a romantic song.
The first lyrical video ‘Seetha Kalyanam’ is out and it’s a slow song but will definitely will make listen to it again and again. The song shows Sharwa tying knot with the female lead Kalyani Priyadarshan. We can say this is a traditional song while Sharwa and Kalyani display a beautiful romance between.
The post wedding glimpses give you a feel good vibe. Music is composed by Prashant Pillai and this is brilliant work from him.
The lyrics written by Balaji are neat and understandable while Srihari crooned it.
‘Ranarangam’ is a directorial of Sudheer Varma and is releasing on August 2nd.

Sharwanand joins Sankranthi race with Sreekaram
Talented actor Sharwanand is fast recovering from the shoulder injury which he sustained during rehearsals for the Telugu remake of 96. He is currently awaiting the release of his upcoming film Ranarangam.
Meanwhile, he has signed a new film which will be helmed by debutant Kishore Reddy. Titled as Sreekaram, the film is coming from the stables of 14 Reels plus Ram Atchanta and Gopi Atchanta. The formal launch of this new project took place this Sunday in Hyderabad and the makers have announced that the film will release for Sankranthi next year. Mickey J Meyer will compose the tunes for this film.
Sharwanand will commence shooting for this film in August.
