Actress Shruti Haasan, who completed 13 years in the film industry recently, says that Cinema has become the greatest source of joy in her life.

Taking to Instagram, the actress posted a video expressing gratitude and wrote, “Magical 13 years – I never actually thought I’d do more than a movie. Even I wasn’t born to do this. I learned to love it and cinema has become the greatest source of joy in my life – in fact, it has given me the life I’m so grateful for.

“Through the years, I’ve learned a lot on how to weather success and failures, how to waltz with confidence and doubt and most of all, to appreciate the honour of telling stories and giving souls to women I’ve never known before.

“I’m so eternally thankful for the love and appreciation I get and I never take it for granted, ever.

“Thank you for everything and I hope to give you more and fall more in love with this gift of time and art.

“p.s. – Weirdos just got to stick to being weirdos apparently. It eventually pays off! Thank you. Thank you for these 13 years!”

Actress Shruti Haasan on Sunday announced that she had tested positive for Covid.

Taking to Instagram to make the announcement, Shruti Haasan said, “Hi everyone, A quick not so fun update. Despite all safety measures, I have tested positive for Covid.

“I’m on the mend and can’t wait to be back very soon. Thank you and see you soon lovelies.”

It was only recently that the actress made her OTT debut with the webseries ‘Bestseller’ that released on Prime Video.

The actress had, in an interview to IANS earlier this year, confessed that the biggest challenge while working on this series, was working during Covid.

She had said, “For me, honestly it was working during Covid. We were shooting it in 2021 and for me, the challenge during the last two years has been forgetting Covid and also not forgetting Covid while we work. To forget it when you are ready for the shot and then to remember Covid and put your mask back on right after.”

“I know it sounds really silly but it is really uncomfortable for actors because of what the mask does to our face. I have had to have more touch ups than I have had touch ups in my whole career,” the actress had then said.

Shruti Haasan took a long break and made a strong comeback with Vakeel Saab and Krack. The actress is the leading lady in Prabhas’ upcoming actioner titled Salaar. Marking her birthday, the makers released the first look of the actress and she will be essaying the role of Aadya in Salaar. Prashanth Neel is the director and the shoot of the film is 70 percent done. Shruti Haasan during the shoot lauded Prabhas for his hospitality on the sets of the film.

A major portion of the shoot is completed in Hyderabad and Godavarikhani. Produced by Hombale Films, Salaar is expected to hit the screens during the end of this year. Shruti Haasan is also the leading lady in Nandamuri Balakrishna’s upcoming movie that will be directed by Gopichand Malineni. The shoot of the film commences soon.

Actress and singer Shruti Haasan will conduct a series of live Instagram sessions on various social issues as part of her birthday celebrations this year.

Sources close to Shruti, whose birthday falls on January 28, said the actress has been overwhelmed with all the love pouring in from her fans who have begun celebrating the month as her birthday month.

A source said: “This year, on her birthday, Shruti has decided to address issues pertaining to society. She will be doing a series of live sessions, starting January 27 on topics such as mental health, women in films and media, and sustainability in fashion.

“On January 27, the session will be on mental health, while on January 28, which happens to be her birthday, the session will be on Women in Films and Media. On January 29, the topic will be Sustainability in Fashion.

“Through these live sessions, Shruti wants to draw attention towards topics that are usually brushed under the carpet or aren’t discussed as often as they should be. All of the live sessions will have Shruti along with various influencers and hosts discussing these topics at length in an attempt to normalise these conversations in our day-to-day life.”

Commenting on the same, Shruti said: “The idea behind the live sessions is to open up a discussion on these topics. There are many ways to celebrate one’s birthday but my idea of a celebration is to open honest discussions, especially about the things I care about and believe need more talking.

“My aim is to let more people in on these topics, get varied perspectives from others during the live and open up these issues for others to think, discuss, share and debate.”

Actress Shruti Haasan’s love for the gothic look and make-up is known to her social media followers. She shares how being an actor doesn’t stop her from experimenting with a look that she connects with.

“I was really into metal and alternative culture from graphic novels to dark gothic literature, so it just felt like a natural extension, ” the actress, who is also a musician, tells IANS.

Shruti does not agree that a gothic look make could be risky for actresses to play with the look.

“There is nothing risky about connecting to a look or vibe that looks authentic to you. The riskier thing to do in life is dressing, speaking, behaving and presenting yourself to the world in the way that they approve of, ” she says.

The actress adds: “There is a risky thing about approvals as well. What is accepted now keeps changing. So, you may as well do what makes you happy without stepping on people’s toes”.

“Most people love it and the sub culture and they get the vibe! There are those who don’t personally lean toward the aesthetics but understand why someone would like it, ” she says.

On the work front, Shruti was recently seen in the Pawan Kalyan-starrer “Vakeel Saab”. She has started shooting for “Salaar”, which stars Prabhas, and “Laabam” with Vijay Sethupati.
