Shruti Haasan’s Valuable Advice to Writers!

Kamal Haasan’s daughter Shruti Haasan is undoubtedly a multi-talented individual. She is a perfect example of beauty with brains. Being a musician, composer, songwriter and a beautiful actress, Shruti also tried a hand in writing. She has been focusing more on creating original music off late and gave out the good news that, her new independent album might be out sometime soon!

During a chat with her fans recently, she was asked about the best advice she would like to give to aspiring writers. She said that as humankind, we all are connected in some level or the other. Writing in such a way that the audience can also experience what the writer is feeling matters- she said. She also emphasized on the importance of visualization before putting pen on paper. Shruti Haasan’s consultations in Tollywood failed?

0

Former star heroine Shruti Haasan moved away from films when everything is happening for her in the right direction. After almost industry people forgot her, she’s back again. Rumour has that she broke up with her boyfriend Michael Corsale, and hence in search of opportunities again.

Recently she is heard commenting that people spoke about her excessive weight and that secret marriage, which has hurt her big time. And all these comments look like she wants to be that newsmaker right now, such that offers will fly her way. But what happened to Shruti Haasan’s consultations with Telugu film celebs?

A month ago, Shruti has flown to Hyderabad to meet some directors, producers and some heroes. She’s said to have met the likes of Allu Arjun and Raviteja as well, in a bid to grab their upcoming projects. But Allu Arjun is seen promoting Nivetha Pethuraj for Icon movie, and Raashi Khanna is also likely to join that film, so a chance for Shruti is ruled out. In his film with Sukumar, already Rashmika Mandanna is aboard.

At the same time, Raviteja has no clarity about his ongoing project Disco Raja which already has three heroines, so there is no scope to bring Shruti Haasan aboard. A leading producer is said to have got shocked by Shruti’s demand of more than a crore when he offered her a small film, and that is another reason why she’s not getting offers here.

Shruti Haasan to have break-up song in her debut EP

0

Singer-actress Shruti Haasan says she has been extremely honest with the seven songs of her debut EP. One of the songs by the singer-songwriter, who split from boyfriend Michael Corsale a few months ago, is about heartbreak, but she says it has nothing to do with whining.

The “Khamoshi” singer’s EP is more or less ready, and is expected to be out later this year.

Talking about the autobiographical project, Shruti told IANS in a telephonic interview: “I think I have been extremely honest with the songs. The kind of songs that I grew up listening to are not the ones where people say ‘When I was in New York in 1992’ or like ‘Summer of 69’. I wasn’t even born in 69. I don’t know what he (singer Bryan Adams) was talking about.

“I don’t like the references to specific things because I want the audience to connect with the emotion. Any part of the world, we all have universal emotions… about certain feelings. There is a collective response to heartbreak, inner courage and strength. That’s the way I tend to write,” she added.

Elaborating, she shared: “When I say autobiographical, one of the songs is definitely about heartbreak which I think all of us have had. Instead of making it sort of whiny…one thing that you learn when you grow up is that it’s not about whining, but it’s about what you learn from it and letting people go.”

Another song is about sobriety.

“I believe in the power of taking sober choices and decisions.”

The music project has been more about the inner processes for her.

“I like singing about the world inside because there are a lot of people who are better than me at singing about the world outside,” said Shruti, who looks up to artistes like Tori Amos, Kurt Cobain and Chris Cornell.

“My music is somewhere in between the fun element of pop… by that I mean you can get people to feel like they can sing along with you, but with the promise of depth from other side of the alternate sphere,” she added.

It was just last month that she performed some of the songs in London.

Asked about the difference between performing in the West and India, she said: “It depends on the kind of audience anywhere in the world. Have they come there to hear the music the artiste is presenting or have they come there with preconceived notions? It happens to the biggest artistes of the world.”

Giving an example, she said: “It could be Beyonce. You may want her to sing ‘Crazy in love’, but maybe she doesn’t want to and they could feel disappointed or they could say ‘No, we love Beyonce and would love to hear anything that she wants to sing for us’.

“The beautiful thing is though… because I have a repertoire of Tamil, Telugu and Hindi songs…and the audiences abroad are mixed, it’s been really amazing that they come there for English music and they understand the journey… that Shruti is writing in English and this is her form of expression and they appreciate that. That is very special to me.”

Shruti Haasan to produce ‘The Mosquito Philosophy’

0

Actress-producer Shruti Haasan will produce director Jayprakash Radhakrishnan’s next “The Mosquito Philosophy” under her banner Isidro Media.

The actress will be presenting the project as well.

“Our belief at Isidro is to present extremely interesting, edgy and different kinds of content. It can be content across various formats just as long as they further the creative process and make it possible for people to experience world class storytelling,” Shruti said in a statement to IANS.

“When we saw ‘The Mosquito Philosophy’ and after having seen JP’s last works especially his much acclaimed film ‘Lens’, we knew we had found the right person to associate with. He has a very edgy vision to creatively showcase even the simplest stories.

“It’s fantastic to work with someone who is courageous in offering new content that challenges conventional thinking . We are really excited to present this film under the Isidro banner and hope this is the start of a long term working relationship,” she added.

JP, as the director is fondly called, will be seen showcasing the idea of minimalism with “The Mosquito Philosophy”.

Despite being in Tamil, the film’s story has universal appeal and is shot with basic storyline with no scripted dialogues and bare minimum equipment and crew to ensure that the most real showcase of life is replicated on screen.

Talking about his film, the director said: “Filmmakers the world over have struggled hard to make films that are as close to reality as possible to ensure the art they create connects seamlessly with the audience. ‘The Mosquito Philosophy’, born out of the quest to showcase a real life and real time narrative, is an interrogation of a society caught between the throws of tradition and modernity seen through the story of four friends.

“The film is shot with a basic idea of conversation without scripted dialogues in the most minimalistic way. Through the process of making this film I realised the power of spontaneity; it makes even the smallest moments alive and truthful.”

The director is happy that Shruti is backing his project.

“I’m so happy to have partnered with a team that believes in my talent and my vision and has contributed to being a part of the change in the cinematic language of India and the world. Together, we look forward to taking ‘The Mosquito Philosophy’ across the globe and share our journey with audiences the world over,” he added.

Learnt a lot while working with father: Shruti Haasan

0

Actress Shruti Haasan, who has worked with her father and actor Kamal Haasan for the first time in the film “Shabhash Kundu”, says that working with her father was fun and a learning experience for her.

“In ‘Shabash Kundu’ working with papa (Kamal Haasan) was really fun because I learnt a lot and its really memorable experience for me,” said Shruti on the sidelines of the Femina Stylista West competition where she was a judge, on Friday here.

“As far as ‘Yaara’ is concerned, we are waiting for its release. It is still in post-production stage. I really had so much fun while shooting for that film. I really hope that people can see it soon,” Shruti added.

Shruti was last seen with Rajkummar Rao in “Behen Hogi Teri” and was trolled on social media for her weight gain for the film. But the actress is not at all affected by it and thinks that social media is a very good medium to connect with people.

“I feel social media is very good medium because here I can connect with people. Earlier, we used to interact with people at social gatherings or events but social media has made it really small,” she added.

Talking about judging Femina Stylista West, Shruti does not like “the word judge”

“I am here just to give my support and little bit opinion. I think it’s lovely because it’s not like a pageant that how people expect you to be and present yourself. I think it’s about personality. The contestants have their own style and personality so that’s why I am really happy to be here,” said Shruti.

Kamal’s directorial “Shabhash Kundu” will be made in the Tamil, Telugu and Hindi languages simultaneously.

The film will also feature Vir Das, Anant Mahadevan, Gul Panag and Ramya Krishnan among others.

Proud to have produced a film for social cause: Shruti Haasan

0

Actress Shruti Haasan says she is proud to have backed an ad film for a social cause in her maiden production venture.

She has produced an ad film on dengue awareness campaign for the Tamil Nadu government.

“It’s our first production which makes us very proud. I didn’t want to miss out on an opportunity to voice my opinion for a social cause. If our voice can make a difference, so be it. I’m glad it has been received well,” Shruti told IANS.

The ad film is played across cinemas in Tamil Nadu.

On the career front, Shruti awaits the forthcoming release of Rajkummar Rao-starrer “Behen Hogi Teri”.

In the film, she plays a Lucknowi girl and talking about the experience, she said: “I have never played this kind of role. It was really exciting and thanks to my director who was amazingly helpful with the accent and other references.”

Having shot in places across the world, this is the first time Shruti shot in Lucknow, and she says it helped her to get into her character.

“We shot extensively in Lucknow, in real places and amid real people. Everything felt so real and I was bowled over by the city’s people. Shooting in live locations, especially amid lovely people in a culture-rich city, enhanced my performance to a great extent,” she said, adding she had a blast bonding with people of Lucknow.

Talking about her co-star Rajkummar, with whom she had teamed up for the first time, Shruti said: “We got on like a house of fire. It was fun working with Rajkummar, and the reception to the trailer is proof to our chemistry and how much we enjoyed working together.”

Shruti recently walked out of Tamil historic film “Sanghamitra”, citing reason that she had not received a bound script or a proper schedule.

She spent nearly six months prepping for the role of a warrior, training in sword-fighting.

Shruti believes all the hard work will not go waste.

“No amount of learning goes waste. It adds to building your skill set and intellect. I’m sure I’ll get to use everything I learnt for some other project,” she added.

Shruti Haasan Dropped From Sangamithra

Shruti Haasan, who was roped in to play the titular role in the upcoming high-budget period drama ‘Sangamithra’, has shockingly been dropped from the project.

The makers announced this shocking development on Monday but didn’t provide clear reason behind dropping their film’s leading lady especially after she had accompanied the unit to the Cannes Film Festival a few days ago. Even the first look featuring Shruti Haasan as the warrior princess Sangamithra was released at Cannes.

“Due to unavoidable circumstances, we are unable to proceed working with Shruti Haasan in Sangamithra,” Sri Thenandal Films, the producers of Sangamithra, announced on social media.

There is no clarity on what might have forced the filmmakers to replace Shruti since she had been attached to this project for over three months. She has also been undergoing training in martial arts as she was preparing to play a warrior queen in Sangamithra. Shruti is yet to respond to this harrowing development.

Also starring Arya and Jayam Ravi, Sangamithra will reportedly be produced on a budget of Rs 450 crore. Tamil director Sundar C, who has never dealt a high budget film in his career, is on board to direct this epic film set in the 8th century AD. Now, fresh doubts are arising over the materialization of this project.

Official statement from Shruti’s spokesperson : “Shruti has had to unfortunately take a call not to be part of Sangamithra. Knowing it was a massive undertaking and a long commitment spanning over 2 years, she knew the importance of her training, a comprehensive script and proper date calendar. She hired and started training with one of best combat trainers April onwards to make sure she was ready in time for shoot. Despite her enthusiasm and commitment to Sangamithra, she has had to give the film a miss since she had not received a proper bound script nor a proper date calendar. She is currently caught up with promoting her Hindi film Behen Hogi Teri, prep for Sabash Naidu and her musical associations”

Singam 3 Review : A Heavy Dose of Action Sequences !

0

Suriya Singam Singham 3 Review,

Yamudu Review

 Si3 movie rating

Yamudu 3 movie review, S3 review

After getting postponed on numerous occasions, Suriya’s much awaited cop drama Singam 3 is finally released today ( Feb 9th) all over. Singam-3 stars Shruthi Haasan and Anushka Shetty as the female leads. Singam’s electrifying trailers promise high voltage action drama and Suriya will be seen as a dynamic cop in a larger than life characterization. S3 did a phenomenal prerelease business in Telugu states and is set to register thumping openings due to solo release. Directed by Hari, S3 is a production of Gnanavel Raja and has its music score done by Harris Jayraj. Let’s us see if the Singam franchise continues to impress with its third part or not.

Story :

The third installment of ‘Singam’ franchise , Singam 3 ( titled ‘ Yamudu’ in Telugu), is about a fierce cop Narasimha who investigates the murder of the police commissioner of Mangalore city. Narasimha ( Suriya ) , belongs to AP cadre, has been promoted to CBI in order to be transferred to Mangalore assignment. During the course of investigation, Suriya learns that local mafia don A.S. Reddy ( Sharad Saxena) was the one who murdered the police commissioner. While trying to close A.S.Reddy, Narasimha realizes that there is much bigger plot behind the commissioner murder. Further investigation drives Suriya towards the mining and steel baron Vittal Prasad ( Thakur Anoop Singh ) who is an immigrant citizen of Australia. Vittal , who is also the son of Indian union minister , operates a globally networked mafia of Medical waste , e-waste such toxic material dumping.

Watch it on big screen to know why an international mafia is connected to Mangalore local mafia, how Narasimha tracks down to Vittal and punishes latter.

Performances:

Suriya as Narasimha is simply superb, carries Singam 3 solely on his shoulders. With his fiery eyes, handle bar mustache and well-toned body, Suriya is a perfect fit for ruthless police officer role. His daring stunts, swift movements are eye feast for fans and masses. Anushka , in Suriya’s wife character, has limited screen time and as she was totally out of shape. Shruti Hassan plays investigative journalist, has limited scenes as her co-heroine. She looked good in Wi Wi WI WiFi song. Senior actress Radhika has played an important role.Comedian Soori’s comedy thread is totally annoying, one of the major negative points in this film. Robo Shankar got considerable role as Suriya’s assistant officer, fits well to the role

Analysis:

Singam 3 has thin story line, entirely based on action scenes. Right from the word go, scene after another, it is all about a strict police officer’s tirade against the bad. With background score being very loud, by the end of the movie audience will be exhausted. Previous parts of Singam 3, especially Singam 1, was filled with highly charged up elevation scenes, and succeeded. But in Part 3, only couple of episodes came out well. The one in Australia airport is highlight of the film. Comedian Soori’s thread comes as an annoying speed breaker throughout the movie.

Movie picks up momentum right before the interval, continues the tempo for majority of the rest of the film. While the screenplay is superfast, no boring moments, but regular audience will be exhausted because of action episodes and loud BGM. Director Hari made a racy film for masses and fans of Suriya’s ferocious Singam series.

Positives:

  • Suriya’s intense looks and roaring performance
  • Gripping Action episodes in second half
  • Two songs: “ Wi Wi Wi WiFi “ and “Universal Cop” Montage song are appealing
  • High Budget Production Values
  • Racy Screenplay

Negatives:

  • Lack of emotional aspect
  • Annoying comedy thread, Songs. Songs hamper the pace of the movie
  • Looks of Anushka
  • Loud background score

Verdict:

Singam 3 is an outright action thriller that caters to the fans of Suriya and action movie lovers. The racy screenplay is one of the highlights, high intense action episods are impressive at times. However, the failed comedy thread and loudness in action scenes hampers the experience to some extent. Overall, Singam-3 is an average film which may do good business in mass centers.
