Dharmana’s unpalatable comments irk YSRCP

1

Senior YSRCP leader and former minister Dharmana Prasada Rao is fast turning out to be a tormentor and a dissident for the party. His off-the-cuff, no-holds-barred comments are making the party leaders look sideways to hide embarrassment. Of late, he is criticising various aspects of the governance through his incisive comments.

In one such recent meeting, Dharmana said that after the YSRCP came to power, the cadre is disenchanted and has lost the initiative. He said this in the presence of all major leaders and ministers from North Andhra. While many cadres supported him, the leaders felt quite embarrassed. His frank admission became a major subject of discussion.

Similarly, he strongly opposed the proposal to turn each Lok Sabha constituency into a district. He said this will cause immense harm to Srikakulam, he said. Senior leaders like Dharmana Krishna Das, Tammineni Sitaram and others had to agree to this. His comments ran counter to YS Jagan’s proposal. But, given Dharmana’s stature, no one dared comment against him. But, this caused a huge debate in North Andhra politics, especially within the YSRCP.

Increasingly, he is appearing to act as an opposition within the party. Recently, he commented against the nominated posts to the marketing committees. He questioned the rationale behind forming the committees without appointing full-time directors. His comments sparked off an intense debate on the issue. Though the party leaders close to him argue that Dharmana has always been outspoken, but many leaders are finding his comments unpalatable.

Vijayasai bail case: CBI Court expresses anger at YSRCP MP!

1

The CBI Court in Hyderabad on Tuesday (today) expressed anger at YSRCP MP V.Vijayasai Reddy over refusing to accept the notice sent by the petitioner in a case pertaining to cancellation of bail granted to Vijayasai Reddy.

YSRCP rebel MP K.Raghurama Krishna Raju filed a petition in the CBI Court on August 3 seeking cancellation of bail granted to Vijayasai Reddy. In his petition, Raju stated that Vijayasai is flouting bail conditions and influencing witnesses by exerting his poltical clout as Rajya Sabha member.

The petition came up for hearing in CBI Court today.

The lawyer representing Raju informed CBI Court that Vijayasai Reddy refused to accept the notice sent by petitioner. The lawyer informed the court that Vijauyasai argued that he will accept notice only if ordered by the court.

The CBI Court expressed severe anger on Vijayasai saying when CBI has accepted petitioner’s notice, how can Vijayasai refuse to accept.

The court directed CBI and Vijayasai to file counters in this case and adjourned the case to August 13.

Naidu left debt burden of Rs 2 lakh crore in Andhra: YSRCP

0

Senior YSRCP leader and Rajya Sabha member V. Vijayasai Reddy on Monday alleged that former chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu left debts of more than Rs 2 lakh crore in the state when he left office.

“The debt burden left by Babu’s (Naidu) government is more than Rs 2 lakh crore,” said Reddy.

Bills due to contractors, power purchase dues, fee reimbursements and compensation to projects evacuees are some of them, he said.

The YSRCP leader castigated some sections of people for targeting the state government.

At a time when some sections of the media are attacking the state government on its credit position, the Parliamentarian compared the state debts of some states to prove a point that all is well.

He said Andhra has a debt of Rs 3.7 lakh crore, compared to Uttar Pradesh (Rs 6 lakh crore), Maharashtra (Rs 5 lakh crore), Tamil Nadu (Rs 4.8 lakh crore), Telangana (Rs 3.2 lakh crore) and Kerala (Rs 3.2 lakh crore)

Earlier, the ruling party leader alleged that some sections of the media are attempting to pass on lies about the Pulichintala project as truth.

He alleged that the earlier government under Naidu did not follow the protocols before filling the dam with water.

“A 2015 experts report said that the gates were weak and it exposes Babu,” he alleged.

Heroes in TDP, these MLAs are zeroes in YSRCP

0

Why are more TDP MLAs not joining the YSRCP? When Chandrababu Naidu was the CM, he had managed to lure 23 MLAs from the YSRCP. Soon after the YSRCP came to power, several TDP MLAs looked toward the YSRCP. Some of them have even joined the YSRCP. A total of four MLAs had left their party to join the YSRCP. But since then, the trickle has completely stopped.

Sources say YS Jagan’s insistence on resigning the MLA post and seeking re-election could be one off-putting factor. Fighting another election would need a lot of money and resources, felt these MLAs. The four who had joined the YSRCP, still continue as the members of the TDP and obey the TDP whip. Thus their joining of the YSRCP is formally not complete. That is where most problems are cropping up.

Since these MLAs are formally not YSRCP members, the YSRCP loyalists are ignoring them. They are not being invited to the party meet and their opinion is not being sought. Their nominees are also being ignored. In Panchayat, MPTC and ZPTC elections, they did not have any say in the selection of the candidate.

All the four MLAs – Vallabhaneni Vamsi in Gannavaram, Maddali Giri in Guntur West, Vasupalli Ganesh in Gannavaram and Karanam Balaram in Chirala are facing the same situation. The worst part is that YS Jagan had given appointments only once or twice. After that, they are unable to meet YS Jagan. So, they are a worried lot. With neither CM nor the party workers giving them any importance, these leaders are confused about their future moves.

AP High Court raps 4 IAS officers, YSRCP Govt

0

The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Monday (today) took YSRCP government as well as four senior IAS officers to task in a contempt case.

Four IAS officers, namely panchayat raj principal secretary Gopala Krishna Dwivedi, panchayat raj commissioner Girija Shankar, MAUD principal secretary Y Srilaxmi and IAS officer Vijay Kumar attended the court hearing in a contempt case.

The AP High Court expressed anger at YSRCP government and four IAS officers for constructing Grama/ Ward Secretariat buildings, Rythu Bhaorsa Centres, Panchayat office buildings in government school premises located in villages, towns and cities in Andhra Pradesh in violation of AP High Court orders.

It may be recalled that AP High Court ordered not to construct these buildings in government school premises six months ago. But the YSRCP government continues to construct these buildings. With this few individuals filed a contempt case against AP government.

The AP High Court took serious view of the issue and asked IAS officers how can the government pollute academic atmosphere in government schools by constructing such buildings.

The court said only students from poorer sections study in government schools and their studies will be disturbed if such offices exist in school premises.

The court said such offices will create political environment in goverment school premises which is not good for academic activities of children.

The court also questioned whether any of these four IAS officers studied in government schools saying that had they studied in government schools they would have known the difficulties being faced by students from poorer sections in these schools.

The court adjourned the case to August 31 for further hearing.

Not Isuka but ‘Busaka’ is causing a fight between two YSRCP leaders

Everyone knows about Isuka or sand used in the construction business across the state. But in the Kaikaluru region, which abuts Kolleru late, there is something called ‘Busaka’, which is a mix of sand and alluvium. This is mainly used in filling the basements during the constructions. Locally, Busaka is in great demand.

It is this ‘Busaka’ that is causing a war between two YSRCP leaders – minister Kodali Nani of Gudivada and Dulam Satyanarayana of Kaikaluru. While Nani is a four-time MLA and a YS Jagan confidant, Dulam Satyanarayana is a first-time MLA. Both were initially very friendly and the Kaikaluru MLA looked up to Nani for guidance. But of late, the mining and sale of ‘Busaka’ has caused a fight between the two leaders.

Busaka is sold at the rate of Rs 50 to Rs 60 per cubic metre. A truck of Busaka costs around Rs 10000. Kaikaluru MLA Dulam is said to be upset with Kodali Nani’s supporters from neighbouring Gudivada mining away Busaka. He is said to have raised the issue with the mining and revenue officials and has got cases sapped against Nani’s supporters. Dulam’s followers wanted a monopoly over the Busaka mining. As a result of this tussle, Nani has stopped visiting Kaikaluru.

When needed, the other minister from the district – Perni Nani – is visiting Kaikaluru. Recently, however, there was one programme in Kaikaluru, for which Nani’s presence was mandatory. Kodali Nani did go, but he and Dulam Satyanarayana did not even greet one another.

Magunta’s Delhi party throws YSRCP out of gear

1

A dinner party has many meanings and many more interpretations in politics. The reason, the place and the guest-list will have a lot to say about the politics behind the party. So, when Ongole MP and YSRCP leader Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy threw a party in New Delhi, everyone looked at the guest list.

Surprise of surprises… All the three TDP MPs were invited to the dinner. This has raised quite a few eyebrows as the TDP MPs and the YSRCP MPs are not even on talking terms. Even in the parliament hall, they are not greeting each other. That being the case, why did Magunta invite the TDP MPs to his dinner party? Not just that. All the three TDP MPs turned up for the dinner and posed for photos happily with Magunta.

There was another reason for this debate. As of now, Magunta is unhappy in the YSRCP. He had deep differences with YV Subba Reddy and Bapatla MP Nandigam Suresh. He also keeping a distance from the YSRCP Ongole unit due to the rampant groupism in the party. In fact, he wanted to promote his son as his political heir. But, he is being resolutely opposed by YV Subba Reddy, who wants to promote his son.

More interestingly, Maganta was in the TDP before he joined the YSRCP in 2019. In 2014, he lost to YV Subba Reddy in the MP election. By 2019, he joined the YSRCP and got the MP ticket. Sitting MP YV Subba Reddy was asked to stand aside for Magunta. But, it appears that he has still been maintaining his contacts in the TDP The YSRCP MPs and the party leaders are working overtime to understand the real hidden message in organising this party.

Raghuramakrishnam Raju is the most active parliamentarian in YSRCP

0

Most of the YSRCP MPs in Parliament are ending up as a disinterested lot in Lok Sabha. Their attendance is poor and their level of participation too is minimal. Interestingly, renegade YSRCP MP Raghuramakrishnam Raju is the best among the lot. In comparison, the TDP MPs are more active in the Lok Sabha.

According to the latest data released by PRS Legislative Research, an organisation that studies parliamentary and legislative affairs, Raghuramakrishnam Raju is the most active MP from AP. His attendance is a staggering 96 per cent. In fact, his performance as an MP is the best by any standards. He had taken party in as many as 50 debates and asked 145 questions.

The TDP has three MPs and the performance of all the three has been satisfactory. Guntur MP Galla Jayadev has 89 per cent attendance. He had taken part in 54 debates and asked 133 questions. Vijayawada MP Kesineni Nani too has 89 per cent attendance. Srikakulam MP K Rammohan Naidu is a regular fixture in the parliamentary debates and is known for his oratorical skills in both English and Hindi.

Among the ruling party MPs, YS Jagan’s cousin YS Avinash Reddy has a poor record. His attendance is a mere 32 per cent. He had participated in only one debate during the last two years. Bapalta MP Nandigam Suresh too has 45 per cent attendance. He participated in one debate, but did not ask even one question. The better performing MP from the YSRCP is Kakinada MP Vanga Geetha Viswanath. She has participated in 37 debates and asked 173 questions.

Did YSRCP err in arresting Devineni Uma?

1

Did the YSRCP and the YS Jagan Government err in arresting Devineni Uma Maheshwara Rao? Did they inadvertently help boosting his sagging political career? Have they by arresting him, given a booster dose to his politics? This is now being hotly debated in the ruling YSRCP.

Devineni Uma was almost isolated in the TDP after his defeat in the 2019 elections. While he was in power, he ran the TDP affairs with an iron hand in Krishna urban district. He has thus isolated several leaders and made many enemies within the party. Soon after his defeat in the elections, several party leaders began ignoring him. His stock began falling and he felt quite isolated within the party. Even when he issued press notes, the other party leaders did not respond or support his call. They royally sidelined him. Leaders like Kesineni Nani, Bonda Uma and others stopped consulting Uma on party affairs.

But all that changed with his arrest. Uma has been daring the YSRCP to arrest him for the past two years. However, the YSRCP did not arrest him. But when it finally arrested him, it was a petty case. It was clear as crystal that this smacked of vendetta. This has raised sympathy for Devineni Uma. There was a groundswell of support for him in Mylavaram assembly constituency and the manner of arrest forced the other TDP leaders too to oppose this. Despite their antipathy to Devineni Uma, these leaders began speaking in his support. Today, Devineni Uma has acquired a hero’s status in Krishna politics.

Even Vasantha Krishna Prasad, who defeated Devineni Uma in 2019 elections in Mylavaram, is reportedly not happy with the kind of attention, focus and publicity that Uma is getting post his arrest. The YSRCP did not expect this kind of response. Now there is a debate as to whether the YSRCP has actually helped Devineni Uma by making a hero out of him.

Will YSRCP be able to divide TDP’s vote bank in Krishna district?

1

Is the ruling YSRCP trying to filch the Kamma vote bank in Krishna district? Is the recent announcement of nominated posts part of the larger game to divide the Kamma social group? Have the appointments been made keeping in view the caste equations in some Kamma-dominated assembly constituencies?

That Kamma community plays a key role in several assembly constituencies in Krishna district. But, the YSRCP could not win the community’s support in the district in 2019. It has just two MLAs from that community. Kodali Nani of Gudivada and Vasanta Krishna Prasad are the only MLAs from the community. Vallabhaneni Vamsi, who won from Gannavaram on TDP ticket is also sailing with the YSRCP, but that’s another story altogether. So, the YSRCP wants to win over the Kamma voters, who are steadfastly with the TDP.

As part of this, the party appears to have focused on Penamaluru and Jaggaiahpet constituencies, which have sizeable population of the community. The Kamma corporation chairperson’s post has been given to Tummala Chandrasekhar, who is from Penamaluru. Similarly, Tanneeru Nageswara Rao of Jaggaiahpet has been made the DCCB chief. In addition, Devineni Nehru has been made the incharge of the Vijayawada East constituency.

But, the big question is whether the community shifts its loyalty? Sources say that much more needs to be done beyond merely giving some posts. But, Jagan camp feels that even if 5 to 10 per cent voters shift their loyalties, this would be a major gamechanger in 2024. These appointments are only the beginning, YSRCP sources say. Much more will follow, they vouch.

‘Chandrababu calling for coalition of registered parties’

0

Navataram Party (NP) founder Ravu Subrahmanyam on Saturday said Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief and former chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has called upon all the opposition parties to form a united front to take on the incumbent Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSRCP government in the future.

Subrahmanyam said Naidu made these observations when he met him on Friday night at Vijayawada for about half an hour.

He hinted that something on the lines of Andhra Pradesh Political Joint Action Committee (APPJAC) could come up for 2024 polls to face YSRCP.

“I was invited to meet Naidu on Friday. I met him at the TDP Mangalagiri office and spoke to him. Appreciating my work in the Tirupati Parliamentary by-poll, he said the time has come for all opposition parties to join hands,” said Subrahmanyam.

Though Navataram Party is a minnow compared to other established players, Subrahmanyam said Naidu promised TDP support for all the good work of the party.

Echoing with Naidu, he said TDP and other parties should join hands to achieve the goals of special category status, fulfil bifurcation promises, protect Amaravati capital, save Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) and others.

He alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Centre and the YSRCP in the state are implementing anti-people policies.

The Navataram Party founder said a coalition of opposition parties should fight together to expose the alleged misdeeds of YSRCP, even as he condemned the arrest of former irrigation minister and senior TDP leader Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao.

He also met with TDP leader Parachuri Ashok Babu.

In the recent Tirupati Parliamentary bypoll, NP contested the election under the glass tumbler symbol, which is also Janasena party’s symbol.

Despite several efforts, BJP and Janasena failed to restrain minnow Navataram Party from contesting the by-poll under that symbol as it ran the risk of confusing voters.

Will Facebook abuse of woman TDP leader prove costly for Minister?

1

Social media is a double-edged sword. Minister Seedini Appala Raju and TDP’s Gouthu Sirisha are now coming to realize this. What started as an election-even war of words on Facebook, is now turning out to be a full-blown battle. Both leaders have filed complaints against one another with the police.

Politically hyper active Palasa had witnessed a key battle in 2019. TDP former minister Gouthu Syamasundar Shivaji’s daughter Sirisha was the TDP candidate against YSRCP’s new-entrant Dr Appala Raju. In the run-up to the election, both began a fight on Facebook. However, after the elections, in which Appalaraju won, the virtual war continued. The respective supporters of both the leaders continued the battle and the war of words soon deteriorated into verbal abuse.

Soon after the defeat, Sirisha shifted to Srikakulam and became slightly inactive. Using this as an advantage, the YSRCP supporters continued to attack her. They began posting comments that were derogatory and demeaning. Left with no option, Sirisha had approached the police with a complaint. Not to be undone, even Appalraju’s supporters lodged complaints with the police. Sirisha has now become active again and has begun attacking the YSRCP and the minister by questioning the irregularities in the implementation of various schemes.

Now, the war of words has spiraled out of control and even the minister is unable to rein in his supporters from posting nasty comments. The leaders of both the parties have filed complaints against one another. Sirisha is now planning to lodge a complaint with the cyber police over abuse and wrongful posts.

NGT orders probe on illegal mining by YSRCP leaders in AP!

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) took a serious view of the reports being published in the media about illegal mining activities undertaken by ruling YSRCP leaders in East Godavari and Visakhapatnam districts.

Reports of YSRCP mining mafia looting bauxite and laterite mines in AP have created a furore in AP.

The NGT took cognizance of these reports and ordered an enquiry into the issue.

The NGT formed an inquiry committee to visit the mining sites and examine how the mining mafia violated the rules and done mining illegally.

The NGT asked the AP government to take action against violators.

It formed a committee with officials from mining and pollution control departments to probe the issue at ground level and submit a report to NGT.

The NGT asked the committee to examine how roads were laid illegally in reserve forest areas to reach mining sites and how a large number of trees were cut for the purpose.

Is Sadineni Yamini joining YSRCP?

1

Is the firebrand spokesperson and well-known TV panellist Sadineni Yamini Sharma planning to join the YSRCP There is a strong buzz that Yamini, a hugely popular spokesperson, who had served both the BJP and the TDP till now, might quit the BJP.

Sadineni Yamini made a name for herself due to her fierce defence of the Telugu Desam Party. Impressed by her articulation skills, Chandrababu Naidu had made her the TDP spokesperson. As a TDP spokesperson, she had sparkled in the TV debates and chat shows. However, the 2019 defeat of the TDP has left her thoroughly demoralised and rudderless.

She suddenly discovered her pre-marital title of Sharma and began calling herself Sadineni Yamini Sharma. In no time, she joined the BJP. In the BJP, her entry was fiercely opposed by a section of the party leaders. She tried to groom a constituency for herself in Konaseema, but the BJP leaders in the region opposed her. They also tried to put spokes in her works. As a result, she found herself unacceptable in the BJP. She began facing a lot of problems in the BJP. During the last several months, she has become totally inactive in the party. Another major problem was that she was living in Hyderabad but was working for AP. This was not a problem in the TDP. But, in the BJP, there were protocol and jurisdiction related issues.

Now the latest is that she is looking to join the ruling YSRCP. Sources said she had already discussed the issue with her well-wishers and mentors. She has reportedly opened a channel with the YSRCP. Interestingly, she did not deny the buzz that she is going to join the YSRCP. Let’s see how she manages to enter the YSRCP.

Why this YSRCP leader wants to rejoin TDP?

0

This political family which for decades played a key role in Anantapuram politics, now finds itself on a political crossroad. It left the TDP for greener pastures and joined the YSRCP. But, things are not going their way in the YSRCP. Now the political family is seriously thinking of going back to the TDP.

We are talking about Singanamala former MLA P Samanthakamani and her daughter Yamini Bala. Samanthakamani is a popular leader from the Dalit community and has been a staunch supporter of Chandrababu Naidu and the BJP. The TDP too recognised her and rewarded with several key positions in the government.

In 2014, Chandrababu Naidu gave the party ticket from Singanamala to Samanthakamani’s daughter Yamini Bala.. She had won and Chandrababu amply rewarded her with the Whip post. But, Yamini Bala angled for a minister’s post. Meanwhile, she began encouraging groupism in the party and an annoyed Chandrababu gave the Singanamala ticket to Bandaru Sravani in 2019. Sravani lost badly due to the pro-YSRCP wave in the state and YSRCP candidate Jonnalagadda Padmavathi has won handsomely. In the later developments, both Samanthakamai and Yamini Bala joined the YSRCP. While Samanthakamani has retired from politics, Yamini Bala has at least 15-20 years of active politics.

However, this euphoria did not last long and Yamini Bala found herself out of place in the YSRCP. Also, no assurance was given to her about her future. Recently, Yamini Bala recently held a meeting with her supporters where most of her backers wanted her to rejoin the TDP. They also regretted her decision to join the YSRCP. They pointed out that she might not get a YSRCP ticket as sitting MLA Jonnalagadda Padmavathi is Jagan’s favourite. If sources are to be believed, even Yamini Bala is actively considering joining the TDP. Let’s wait and watch how things unfold in Singanamala.

Andhra MPs seek Rs 6,750 cr pending funds from Centre

1

Senior YSRCP leader V. Vijayasai Reddy on Tuesday met Union Panchayat Raj Minister Giriraj Singh and appealed for the release of Rs 6,750 crore funds due to the state.

“A delegation of YSRCP MPs met Giriraj Singh and requested him to release Rs 6,750 crore due to the state,” said Reddy, who led the delegation.

He said these funds are due under the MNREGA programme.

Reddy was accompanied by party MPs Margani Bharat, Mithun Reddy and Mopidevi Venkataramana, among others.

The delegation also met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, and requested him to complete the road development work on the Sabbavaram-Narsipatnam-Tuni stretch in the southern state.

Meanwhile, Reddy noted that the state government is offering laptops to the poor students under the Jagananna Vasati Devena scheme.

He said the laptops will be given under basic and advanced categories.

“In case there are any defects with them, a complaint in the village and ward secretariats will resolve the issue in a week’s time,” he said.

Reddy further said that the laptop distribution is aimed at guiding the poor students pursuing higher education into the digital era, which has been decided by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

He said the higher education department has already issued directives to this effect.

Will Hindupur prove lucky for YSRCP at least in 2024?

1

Hindupur assembly seat in Anantapuram has always been the YSRCP’s Achilles’ Heel. The party tried every trick of the trade, but could not win. In fact, this seat was represented initially by NTR and later by Nandamuri Balakrishna. But, since at least 2004, one of the main reasons for the TDP victory is the infighting in the Congress first and the YSRCP later.

In 2004, Congress candidate Navin Nischal gave a tough fight. In 2009, the Congress did not give him the ticket. So, he became a rebel and fought as an independent. Navin Nishcal stood second and the Congress third. In the later developments, Navin joined the YSRCP and contested in 2014. He was unlucky again as he was pitted against Balakrishna. In the 2019 elections, the YSRCP gave the ticket to Iqbal. Though Navin did not oppose it openly, he ensured that the YSRCP did not win. So, NBK had won again.

The YSRCP in Hindupur is divided into three factions – former MLA Abdul Ghani faction, Navin faction and Iqbal faction. After the 2019 elections, YS Jagan made Iqbal, who was defeated in 2019, as an MLC. Navin began sulking and kept aloof from party activities. It is clear that the YSRCP can win from Hindupur only when the Navin and Iqbal factions come together. Otherwise, the anti-TDP votes get divided and NBK will scrape through.

Now with the 2024 elections in mind, Jagan has given a corporation chairperson’s post to Navin Nischal. Now that Iqbal is an MLC, it is likely that only Navin will be in the fray. Will all the three factions come together and fight the election unitedly? Will both Ghani and Iqbal work for Navin, who betrayed them in 2014? The politics are heating up in Hindupur already as there is a likelihood of Lokesh Babu becoming TDP candidate in the event of NBK opting out.

Are YSRCP MLAs, MPs in the cold storage?

1

The MLAs and the MPs of the ruling YSRCP are increasingly feeling that they have no well-defined role. They feel that they are being bypassed in YS Jagan’s scheme of things. Many are unhappy that they have no role to play in governance despite being in the ruling party. They see no scope of getting established politically.

As per YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s plans, all the benefits, doles, sops and the welfare schemes are being implemented with the help of the village secretaries. The village secretaries are becoming the most important interface and the people are interacting with them to secure their benefits. What more? The government has set up an interface called Spandana to address the problems of the people. As a result of this, the people are now directly linked to the officials.

In this whole setup, the political leaders, especially the elected people’s representatives are completely bypassed. They literally have no role to perform. Many of the elected public representatives stood by the party during the tough times and have financially supported the party. But, they are now finding themselves completely sidelined.

Every scheme is controlled, monitored and implemented by the Chief Minister himself. He is pressing the button and the people are finding the amounts deposited in their accounts. The MPs and MLAs have no roles whatsoever. Everything is passing through the officials. As a result, the MPs and MLAs are not being seen in the meetings and inaugurations.

TDP demands resignation of YSRCP MPs over VSP privatisation

1

Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Sunday demanded that all MPs of the ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) resign to step up pressure on the Central government in the current session of Parliament to withdraw privatisation of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.

Former minister and TDP leader Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy said if the YSRCP MPs in the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha resign, then the TDP members would also follow in their footsteps.

He said Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy should come to the rescue of one lakh workers of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) as it was his basic duty in his capacity as the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh.

He said it was in the interest of VSP workers and people that TDP national president and leader of opposition N. Chandrababu Naidu offered to follow Jagan Mohan Reddy. The CM should have responded positively to the gesture made by the opposition leader in a respectful manner.

Naidu had on Saturday asked Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy to join the struggle and lead it from the front.

Extending his party’s complete support to the ‘Save Vizag Steel’ agitation, Naidu reiterated that his party’s elected representatives would be ready to resign from their posts for the sake of the steel plant.

Satyanarayana Murthy said the general feeling among the people is that the only goal of YSRCP MPs is to have their rebel MP Raghurama Raju disqualified. Jagan Reddy should realise that the present burning issue in Andhra Pradesh is to prevent the privatisation of steel plant and to safeguard the interests of the workers, he said.

He recalled that Jagan Reddy had stated during the elections that he would bend the necks of the central leaders if he was given 25 MPs. If Jagan takes over leadership of the steel plant agitation, then the AP MPs can bring Parliament to a standstill till the privatisation move was withdrawn, Murthy said.

The TDP leader termed as ‘reckless’ the statement by Jagan Reddy’s advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy that if TDP MPs want to resign they can do so. “Instead of giving a plan to stop the Steel Plant privatisation, Sajjala is only diverting the public attention by making unwarranted comments against the appeal of Mr. Chandrababu Naidu. It is clear how the chief minister, his advisor and his Rajya Sabha MP Vijay Sai Reddy are not bothered about the steel plant at all,” said Satyanarayana Murthy.

The TDP said that the YSRCP is ruthlessly betraying the aspirations of over 38 villages that contributed their thousands of acres of land for the VSP. He alleged that YSRCP leaders were only interested in making quick and easy money through sand, land, liquor and cement mafia but not in the struggles of the workers and common people.

He urged the people to realise whether the TDP or the YSRCP had the credibility when it came to the fight for saving the steel plant. He pointed out that Chandrababu Naidu immediately rushed to the protest camp and extended his party’s overall support to the agitating workers whereas, Jagan Reddy was playing all sorts of discreditable dramas without giving any hope to the steel plant workers on the privatisation issue.

0

The ruling YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh has bagged the Eluru Municipal Corporation. The counting of votes is taking place today (Sunday) from 8 am.

The elections were held on March 10 but the counting of votes was held up due to AP High Court directions.

However, the AP High Court recently allowed State Election Commission to take up the counting of votes.

Out of 50 wards in Eluru municipal corporations, the YSRCP is clearly leading in 31 wards as per the latest trends.

The TDP, BJP and others are leading in one ward each.

The full results are expected by 2 pm. But going by current trends, the victory of YSRCP is certain.

The YSRCP had made a clean sweep in municipal elections held in March this year,

It also registered a big victory in Tirupati Lok Sabha bypoll held in April this year.
