Vangaveeti man takes dictation from Devineni clan

Politics makes strange bed-fellows. But, these unlikely alliances cause a lot of inconvenience too. The newly appointed Kapu Corporation chairperson Adapa Seshu is learning this fast. He now realizes that his political elevation has its own strange set of problems.

Adapa Seshu is a known Vangaveeti Ranga acolyte. His politics began with Ranga’s son Vangaveeti Radhakrishna. He made his political foray with Radha in 2004 elections. Later, Radhakrishna himself made Adapa Seshu a corporator in Vijayawada municipal chairperson. All through he stayed by Radha’s side but in 2019, Radhakrishna joined the TDP. At this point, he parted company with Radhakrishna and stayed with the YSRCP.

In the post 2019 developments, Vangaveeti family’s arch rival Devineni Nehru’s son Devineni Avinash joined the YSRCP and was soon appointed YSRCP Vijayawada incharge. Now, Seshu’s political mentor Vangaveeti is in TDP and his arch rival Devineni is in YSRCP. Now, Seshu is forced to engage Devineni Avinash and keep a distance from Vangaveeti. Now with his appointment as the AP Kapu Corporation chief, Seshu’s problems have only grown manifold.

He is now a state-level Kapu figure. But in Vijayawada, he has to meet Devineni Avinash, who belongs to a social community that is considered a rival of the Kapus. So, every time he is meeting Avinash, Seshu is facing backlash from his own community. He is being trolled on social media and the Kapus are showing unabashed anger at him. Seshu is finding it very difficult to convince his own community on this issue. A Vangaveeti acolyte, Seshu is now forced to be pally with Devineni clan. This is turning out to be a tight-rope walk for him.

YSRCP activists attack TDP leaders with dung for exposing bad roads in AP

1

The opposition TDP’s attempts to expose bad roads in Andhra Pradesh under the rule of YSRCP government met with stiff resistance from YSRCP leaders and cadre today (Saturday).

The TDP planned to hold protests near bad roads demanding urgent repair of roads filled with pot holes across AP.

But YSRCP leaders and activists rushed to the spots and attacked TDP leaders with animal dung and mud.

Tension prevailed in Krishna district Nandigam mandal Jujjur village after YSRCP activist attacked TDP leaders including former minister Devineni Uma and MLA Gadde Rammohan Rao.

The TDP leaders demanded police to arrest YSRCP activists who attacked them.

But police took TDP leaders into custody saying that their protests were creating law and order problems.

TDP leaders and cadre lashed out at police for initiating action against them when they are holding protests democratically and peacefully while letting off YSRCP leaders and cadre who attacked them with dung and mud.

Why these two MLAs are unable to face their followers?

0

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s absolute control in every matter relating to the party has turned out to be a huge headache for two YSRCP MLAs from Chittoor. These two MLAs also have to contend with the dominance of district’s strongman Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy. As a result, these two MLAs are forced to face a barrage of criticism from their own supporters, who feel cheated.

In the recent filling of nominated posts, the chairpersons of both Kanipakam and Srikalahasti temple trust boards too were appointed. Both these temples are the most important pilgrimage centres in Chittoor district after Tirupati and there was intense competition for these posts in the YSRCP. Veerendra Varma of Satyavedu was appointed as Srikalahasti temple committee chairperson, while Prameela Reddy of Chittoor was appointed as chairperson for Kanipakkam.

This caused a heart-burn in both the MLA constituencies of Srikalahasti and Pootalapattu. Local politicians and YSRCP activists strongly protested against these appointments as both are non-locals and new entrants into the party. The party workers took Srikalahasti MLA Biyyapu Madhusudhan and Pootalapattu MLA MS Babu for ignoring them. Both these MLAs tried to tell the local leaders that the decisions were taken by YS Jagan and Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy and that they did not have any leverage in making choices. But the party leaders are unconvinced. They had even staged dharnas against the appointments.

This has now become a huge headache for these two MLAs. They can neither convince them nor can they explain their predicament to the party higher-ups. They are now caught in a cleft-stick-like situation. They are finding it difficult to cool off the angry workers.

Is BJP using YSRCP to defeat opposition plans in Parliament?

1

What is behind the sudden belligerence of the YSRCP MPs in both the houses of Parliament? The YSRCP MPs, whose presence was barely noticeable in the house, have suddenly hogged the limelight in the monsoon sector. They raised the issue of special status and even stalled the proceedings of the house.

But the past record of the YSRCP MPs has only shown them as trusted allies of the BJP. They have supported all the bills and key decisions that the Modi government took. They strongly backed even decisions like the Article 370 abrogation and the Ayodhya issue. But, this time around, the story is different. They have become hyperactive and are raising different issues in an unusually aggressive manner.

But, political observers say that the YSRCP’s newfound belligerence is actually part of a strategy that the BJP has unveiled to counter the Opposition. The YSRCP is stalling the house only to benefit the BJP government. By stalling, they are actually not allowing the Congress and other opposition to raise tougher issues like the fuel price, covid handling and other such things. This is nothing but bailing out the BJP from a tricky situation.

In the Rajya Sabha, an otherwise calm MP like Vijayasai Reddy entered the well of the house and shouted slogans demanding special status to the state. Similar scenes were witnessed in the lower house. By raising this issue and stalling the house, the YSRCP is bailing out the BJP. Political analysts say YSRCP-BJP jugalbandi is part of a well-thought out strategy to beat the other parties. Though the opposition parties have seen through this, they are unable to do anything about it.

Is Vijaysai running parallel YSRCP in Vizag?

0

Is dissidence building against Chief Minister YS Jagan’s most trusted lieutenant? Have several YSRCP MLAs lodged a complaint against Rajya Sabha MP Vijaysai Reddy? Are complaints being filed against his working style and his attempts to emerge as the boss of North Coastal Andhra region?

The political circles are agog with the stories of how Rajya Sabha MP Vijaysai Reddy is taking complete control of the party and governance. There are stories and stories of how the administration in the north Andhra districts is pandering to Vijaysai Reddy. He has reportedly developed a network of informants both in politics and in administration and is getting information about everything happening. Sources say that Vijaysai Reddy’s nod is necessary even for taking up small works or making appointments.

Recently, Vijaysai’s birthday celebrations were organised on an unprecedented scale. Banners, buntings, hoardings and flexis dominated the city skyline. The issue even went to the notice of YS Jagan, sources say. They add that the flexis were removed only after the issue went to the notice of the chief minister.

A small group of MLAs, ministers and key party functionaries have reportedly taken the issue to the notice of the Chief Minister. YS Jagan is said to have taken note of the things. As of now, there is no palpable action against Vijaysai Reddy. Yet, people feel that there would be some definitive action against the Rajya Sabha MP in the days to come and Jagan will surely leash in the Rajya Sabha MP.

Why is this one-time Jagan’s favourite minister feeling lonely ?

0

Minister for agriculture in YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s council of ministers, Kurasala Kanna Babu is said to be upset over the importance being given to relatively junior minister Chelluboyina Venugopal. He is also said to be unhappy with the officials and the key administrators flocking to the residence of Kakinada MLA Dwarampudi Chandrasekhar Reddy. He feels neglected and ignored.

Time was when Kannababu was the de facto spokesperson for the council of ministers and held forth on every issue. His media background, his articulation and his community support were seen as his strengths. Now the party has many more Kapu representatives like Thota Trimurthulu and Ambati Rambabu. As a result, his importance has come down in Jagan’s scheme of things.

What is worse, Kannababu feels that all the party MLAs from East Godavari are against him. He feels they have formed a cartel and are working against him. Even CM YS Jagan too is not said to be consulting Jagan on key issues. Even on matters of agriculture and farming, his word is not said to be carrying any weight. With this, the commissioner of agriculture too is said to be taking decisions on his own, without consulting the minister. As a result, Kannababu these days is mostly confined to Kakinada.

Sources say it is because of this that Kannababu has suddenly upped his criticism of TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu. However, they have not really helped him in any way. At the same time, sources say he has made attempts to meet CM’s political advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy. However, Sajjana has reportedly not given him an appointment.

Will Anil Kumar Yadav be dropped from Jagan’s cabinet?

1

Is Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy dropping hints about who would be dropped from the cabinet in the latest reshuffle? On Tuesday, Irrigation Minister Anil Kumar Yadav kept a distance from YS Jagan throughout the latter’s tour of Polavaram project area. Though Anil Kumar Yadav was very much present on the occasion, his was very low key. He was silent all through the review meeting held after the visit to Polavaram.

Normally, the Irrigation Minister stays next to the CM during such meetings. But, Anil Kumar Yadav was several paces behind the CM. The other ministers were close to the CM. Anil was way too behind. Also, when the CM undertook the aerial survey of the project area, only officials boarded the chopper along with the CM. Anil Kumar did not board the chopper. The same scene was repeated even during the review meeting with the irrigation officials.

Normally, minister Anil Yadav is considered an ultra defender of YS Jagan. He springs to Jagan’s defence on any subject or issue. He calls himself the Bhakt of YS Jagan. But, it seems Jagan is not happy with the way the irrigation department was functioning. He is said to be unhappy with the way the progress of Polavaram project was slow-paced. He is said to be unhappy over AP irrigation department, which has failed to defend the AP’s interests on the Krishna water issue.

However, Anil Yadav’s close camp followers refute these. They say that his ministry would be safe and he has worked very hard in his department and has defended YS Jagan to hilt on any issue. But, analysts say that even Anil’s body language during the Polavaram visit showed that all was not well. Let’s wait and see how things unfold in the days to come.

Did Vellampalli get GO to help his biz buddies in Tadepalli?

0

Otherwise defunct Jana Sena is quite active in one assembly constituency. The constituency in question is Vijayawada West. Here, the party’s defeated candidate may have lost the election, but is continuing his battle against the winning candidate. The winning candidate is a YSRCP heavyweight. He is Vellampalli Srinivas, a Jagan confidant and the minister for endowments.

Jana Sena leader Potina Venkata Mahesh on Monday accused the minister of bringing GO No 61 to help the Capital Business Park in Tadepalli. He said that four of the partners of the business park are close associates of minister Vellampalli Srinivas. Thus, Minister Vellampalli has actually helped his business associates to a tune of Rs 30 crore through this GO, he accused. He said that this GO was intended to indirectly fill the pockets of the minister and his cohorts.

He further accused that Vellampalli is bringing pressure on the wholesale and retail shops in the famed Vastralatha complex in the old city of Vijayawada to shift to the Business Park. He said that the GO was meant to help a private real estate company which is not part of the Industrial corridor. He further charged that the GO was brought by minister for industries Mekapati Gowtham Reddy without the knowledge of chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

He further dared Vellampalli to swear in the name of Goddess Kanakadurga that there was no scam in this GO. He said that the minister should vouch that he has no business links with the beneficiaries of the GO 61. The Jana Sena leader asked Vellampalli to swear in the name of Goddess atop Indrakeeladri in Vijayawada on Friday.

Mahesh has previously accused the minister of appointing his followers and ineligible people to the committee of the Kanakadurga temple. He also exposed the disappearance of the silver horses on the mandapam of Mother Durga atop Indrakeeladri.

What’s behind YSRCP’s aggression in Parliament?

0

Have relations soured between the BJP at the Centre and the YSRCP? The change in the attitude of the YSRCP towards the BJP was all too visible on Monday when Parliament began its monsoon session. The YSRCP MPs, who are otherwise silent, became very vocal and even raised slogans against the Central Government.

True to their statement during the all-party meeting organised ahead of the parliament session that they would highlight issues like the discrimination against the state government, its negligence in implementing the assurances given at the time of the bifurcation of the state and the issue of national projects in house of Lok Sabha, the YSRCP was vocal on Monday.

The YSRCP, which is normally submissive and obsequious towards the BJP government, was belligerent and vocal. The MPs raised slogans and disrupted proceedings. This was a surprise for all the other parties. The YSRCP MPs demanded a discussion on the Polavaram project and rushed into the well. YSRCP MPs Vanga Geetha, Chandrasekhar, Gurumurthy and MIthun Reddy had even given an adjournment motion. It was the same story in Rajya Sabha too. Vijaysai Reddyy gave a notice under Rule No 267 for a discussion on the special status.

The YSRCP’s unusual belligerence showed that even the YSRCP, which meekly submits to the BJP diktats, has rebelled against the government. Sources say that the YSRCP is mainly upset on Polavaram and other issues and wants to take a strong stand on this. It also wants to show its displeasure in the handling of the Krishna water dispute. If the same trend continues and if the AP hardens its stand, then the BJP will have a tough time in getting key bills passed in Rajya Sabha. This could ultimately affect even the upcoming presidential elections next year.

3 Chittoor Reddys please ‘pujaris’ to propitiate ‘God’

All the three are considered very close to YS Jagan. Not just that. They have contributed to the growth of the YSRCP in a very significant way. One of them was suspended from the assembly for her strident opposition to Chandrababu Naidu, while the other one has been a fighter all through and spent huge sums for the party. The third one has been a trusted YSRCP man, who did not waver from the party line come hell or high fire.

Now all the three want YS Jagan to pay back. They all want ministries. One of them is RK Roja, who fought hard and strongly for the YSRCP. The second in Chandragiri MLA and Jagan confidant Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy and the third is Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, who has been with the YSRCP all through. Interestingly, all the three were omitted in the ministry formation in 2019.

What was their biggest problem? They were all Reddys and Jagan could accommodate only one Reddy from the district. To placate them, he did offer sops. Chevireddy was made TUDA chief, while Roja was given APIIC. Now all these three Reddys want ministries. In fact, Srikalahasti MLA Biyyapu Madhusudan Reddy too is angling for a ministry in Jagan’s cabinet.

All the three are now making rounds of Tadepalli and are meeting those who matter in the YSRCP. Despite their closeness to YS Jagan, none of them could secure an appointment with him. Unable to meet the ‘God,’ they are all busy pleasing the ‘Pujaris.’ All the three key leaders feel that it is time Jagan rewarded them suitably.

Chittoor is very important in Jagan’s scheme of things as this is the home district of his arch rival Chandrababu Naidu. The YSRCP had won 13 of the 14 seats in the 2019 elections. The sole seat that did not fall into the YSRCP kitty was Kuppam, represented by Chandrababu Naidu.

“July 26 tension” for YSRCP leaders and cadre!

2

Tension is gripping YSRCP leaders and cadre as July 26 date nears.

It’s the only date that is being hotly debated in YSRCP circles for the last four days.

Why YSRCP leaders and cadre is attaching that much significance for July 26?

This is because the CBI Court is taking up the final hearing on the petition seeking cancellation of bail granted to YSRCP chief and AP Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy.

The petition was filed by YSRCP rebel MP Raghuram Krishnam Raju in May this year.

Jagan’s lawyers could successfully delay the case for over two months by repeatedly seeking more time to file counters.

The CBI too contributed to delay in the case by seeking more time to file counters and written arguments.

However, when the CBI sought ten more time last week, the CBI Court in Nampally, Hyderabad, adjourned the case to July 26.

Speculations are rife in political and legal circles that July 26 is the last day for hearing on this case and the CBI Court will deliver its verdict irrespective of whether CBI submits its written arguments or not.

CBI opposed bail for Jagan when he was Opposition leader. But CBI has not made his stand clear on this issue after he became CM saying that it has left the decision to the court whether to cancel bail or not based on the merits of the petition.

YSRCP leaders and cadre fear what if CBI Court cancels bail to Jagan and sends him back to Chanchalguda prison in Hyderabad.

Who will run the government and party in AP if Jagan is jailed again? is the question haunting them.

When Jagan was jailed earlier, his mother Vijayamma and sister Sharmila helped him to sustain the party by conducting padayatras and bus yatras across the state. But reports state that both have left Jagan due to differences in family and Sharmila launched her own party in Telangana recently..Vijayamma is also learnt to be living with Sharmila in Hyderabad.

Will raise Andhra’s ‘economic crisis’ in Parliament: TDP

0

The Telugu Desam Party on Friday resolved to raise the ruling YSRCP’s “ongoing financial terrorism” and “economic crisis” in Andhra Pradesh in the forthcoming Monsoon session of Parliament.

“The TDP MPs would bring to the attention of the Centre and the whole nation how the reckless the Jagan Mohan Reddy regime has been pushing Andhra Pradesh into such severe financial crisis that even salaries were not being paid properly to government employees,” said a TDP leader.

TDP Parliamentarians Kanakamedala Ravindra Babu, Galla Jayadev, and K. Rammohan Naidu said the opposition party would expose the YSRCP regime’s “failures” and “misdeeds” regarding inter-state water issues, deteriorating law and order, attack on Telugu language and others.

The Parliament would be informed how Rs 41,000 crore of public funds were diverted by the Jagan regime without proper accounts, vouchers and receipts, they claimed.

The TDP MPs asserted that they would also apprise the Centre how Rs 1.78 lakh crore debt was allegedly run up with no development activities in the past two years.

The AP Government was “misguiding the Centre by furnishing wrong figures and numbers by following unparliamentary practices. The CAG has objected that the Jagan regime was straightaway diverting the Central funds that were released for specific people-centric programmes”, they claimed.

According to the TDP MPs, Reddy and his Telangana counterpart K. Chandrasekhar Rao are allegedly enjoying friendly dinners on one hand, while creating “artificial water disputes” on the other.

The AP CM was not able to do anything even though Telangana was using its police in order to wrongfully release water from Srisailam in the name of hydel power generation, they claimed.

YSRCP, BJP hail Centre for notifying Krishna, Godavari river boards

1

The ruling Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) and the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Andhra Pradesh on Friday welcomed the Central government’s decision to notify the Krishna and Godavari river boards.

Andhra Pradesh government advisor, Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said justice with respect to river waters is directed towards his state as he welcomed the gazette notification.

Reddy opined that had the purview of the river boards been decided at the time of united Andhra Pradesh’s bifurcation itself, projects like Palamuru-Rangareddy would not have been completed.

He said the Telangana government has wasted water for power generation which is detrimental to Andhra Pradesh’s prospects.

Though neighbouring Telangana was aggressive, Reddy said Andhra Pradesh was composed, including Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy going ahead constitutionally putting pressure on the Centre.

BJP Rajya Sabha member G.V.L. Narasimha Rao said the notification protects the interests of Andhra Pradesh and highlighted that either of the states can go ahead with projects only after mutually discussing and procuring the river boards’ assent.

Both the Telugu states — Telangana and Andhra Pradesh — can build water projects or use water for hydel power generation only after taking the river boards’ approval as mandated by the notification, Rao added.

“On behalf of BJP, we all thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat for releasing the notification aimed at doing justice to both the states, primarily to Andhra Pradesh which was losing out,” he said.

Besides the notification, the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) on Thursday directed the Telangana government to immediately cease power generation from the common reservoirs.

“The Telangana state GENCO authorities are once again requested to stop further release of water immediately through Srisailam left power house, Nagarjunasagar dam and Pulichintala project,” said L. B. Muanthang, member (power), KRMB.

He said that water drawn for power generation is incidental to irrigation and drinking water needs.

“It is therefore imperative to follow the water release orders issued by KRMB,” Muanthang added.

Did YSRCP miscalculate Payyavula’s silence?

1

His silence and low profile was for months interpreted as his plans to join the YSRCP. There were inspired leaks which said that he was in talks with the YSRCP and that the Anantapuram YSRCP had stopped attacking him. Some even went to the extent of saying that it was just a matter of time before he joined the YSRCP.

But, now it turns out that TDP MLA and Public Affairs Committee chairperson Payyavula Keshav has answered all these rumours with just one stroke. He raised the issue of the indiscriminate borrowing of YSRCP government and has put the Jagan government in a spot. The Jagan Government was so confused that its finance minister had to immediately address a press conference and defend the government’s borrowing.

Keshav said that the Jagan’s mindless borrowings were driving the state to financial ruin and was against the borrowing norms fixed by the Central Government, which wants to impose financial discipline. His coherent argument has now shattered the arguments of the State government. Through this one action, Keshav has demolished all the stories circulating in the media about his “plans to join YSRCP.” The YSRCP is finding that Keshav’s home work and diligence are hard to beat.

As if to bail out YS Jagan government, the BJP has suddenly jumped into the fray. BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP GVL Narasimha Rao said that similar indiscriminate borrowings have happened even during the TDP regime and wanted a probe on this. This is being seen more as a diversionary tactic by the BJP to help its secret friend YSRCP. But the political circles are talking about Payyavula’s attack and say that the stories of his planning to join are all figments of imagination. With this one stroke he has inflicted more damage on the ruling YSRCP than anything else in the past two years.

Three MPs asked to respond on pleas for disqualification

0

The Lok Sabha Secretariat has sought response from Trinamool Congress MPs Sisir Adhikari and Sunil Kumar Mondal, and YSR Congress MP Raghu Ramakrishna Raju on their party’s petitions seeking their disqualification under the anti-defection law.

Sources said that the Lok Sabha Secretariat has written to Adhikari, Mondal and Raju, seeking their response within 15 days of receipt of its letter.

The Trinamool had filed a petition seeking disqualification of Adhikari and Mondal, saying both the MPs have joined the BJP before the West Bengal Assembly polls.

Sources claimed that Adhikari had joined the BJP in March while Mondal has joined the saffron party in December last year.

The YSR Congress submitted a petition saying that Raju is involved in anti-party activities.

Not BJP, Raghuveera may join YSRCP!!

1

Till recently it was rumoured that former APCC chief Neelakantham Raghuveera Reddy will join the BJP. His religiosity, spirituality and proximity to the politicians in Karnataka were touted as the reason. He had even renovated a couple of temples in his home village. All these were shown as symbols of his moving close to the BJP.

However, now it turns out that Raghuveera Reddy is inching closer to the ruling YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh. If sources are to be believed, two of his friends in the YSRCP are bringing pressure on him to join the YSRCP. In fact, several of his former Congress friends are already in the YSRCP and they too want him in the YSRCP.

MLC Tippeswamy is considered very close to Raghuveera. Raghuveera helped him during his MLC election. Not just that, Tippeswamy sought Raghuveera’s blessings before launching the campaign for the recent panchayat and ZPTC elections in Anantapur. Similarly, MLA Ananta Venkatrami Reddy too is considered very close to Raghuveera. He recently met Raghuveera and requested him to join the YSRCP. Several leaders like Botsa Satyanarayana too are considered very close to Raghuveera. In fact, even Jagan respects Raghuveera a lot.

Raghuveera is an MLA from 1989 and has lost only in 2014 and 2019. He was the APCC chief from 2014 to 2020. At one stage, he was considered a possible CM in the wake of the unfortunate death of YSRCP. However, in the later developments, Raghuveera remained in the Congress and suffered a massive defeat as the Congress was totally rejected by the voters in 2014. Now with the reports of his inching closer to the YSRCP, hopes of a revival of his political fortunes are being rekindled.

Doubts surround over the continuance of YS Vijayamma as the honorary president of YSRCP.

1

Vijayamma has been continuing as YSRCP honorary president since her son YS Jaganmohan Reddy launched YSRCP in 2011.

However political differences erupted in YSR family after her daughter YS Sharmila launched her own political party YSRTP in Telangana against the wishes of her brother, AP CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy.c

Speculations are rife in YSRCP circles that Jagan insisted on his mother YS Vijayamma not to attend Sharmila party launch on July 8 in Hyderabad.

But Vijayamna not only simply ignored but also attended the event and delivered her speech.

In her speech, she indirectly hinted at political differences between Jagan and Sharmila saying that its God’s will that both her children took contradictory routes in politics.

In this backdrop, doubts are being raised over how Jagan could continue Vijayamma as honorary president when she openly crosses party’s line of not to interfere in politics of any other state except AP.

This is how YSRCP is weaning Kuppam away from Chandrababu

1

Kuppam is a TDP citadel that hasn’t witnessed defeat. For decades Chandrababu himself has been the candidate. The victory was always facile and the margin was always huge. But in 2019, Chandrababu trailed for a long time before coming from behind to win the seat.

Emboldened by this, the YSRCP is making a concerted effort to wrest the seat from Chandrababu Naidu this time. The YSRCP is focusing on the voters in a focused way. For instance, the YSRCP has so far given 14653 land pattas to the beneficiaries under the Housing for All Scheme. Similarly, the party is using the village secretaries to good effect. As many as 34956 welfare pensions are being given. The fact is – as many as 30970 of these pensions were there even during the TDP regime. The YSRCP added nearly four thousand more beneficiaries.

Similarly, Arogya Sri scheme is being implemented in a targeted way. As many as 13468 persons have been benefited by the Arogya Sri, according to YSRCP activists. Amma Vodi, another scheme which is part of the Navaratnalu, is being implemented for 53197 beneficiaries. In all these, the village secretariats are emerging as crucial players. Schemes like Jagananna Vidya Deevena, Jagananna Vasati Deevena are also being implemented for targeted beneficiaries.

The YSRCP has details such as phone numbers, Aadhar Card details of every beneficiary and these details are being used to create a continuous interface with the voters. The party has deputed MP Reddeppa Reddy especially for Kuppam to ensure that the welfare schemes reach the targeted beneficiaries and their date is entered into the database of the party.

Unfortunately for the TDP, its workers are demoralised as several local TDP leaders have joined the YSRCP. Another major drawback is that the top leaders have not been visiting the constituency citing Corona and other reasons. Due to this, YSRCP is having a field day in Kuppam. It is time the TDP sets its house in order and take up remedial measures.

Raghurama makes YSRCP say ‘Ayyo Rama’

1

Till a few months ago, if a YSRCP MP met any union minister or Lok Sabha speaker, it was to raise the issues pertaining to state. But of late, the only reason why the YSRCP leaders are meeting the Central ministers, speaker or prime minister, there is only one reason. The reason is a white-clad tall man called Raghuramakrishnam Raju.

He has become a thorn in the flesh of the YSRCP, but YSRCP as of now doesn’t seem to know how to remove him. It has petitioned Speaker several times to take action against Raghuramakrishnam Raju for violating the provisions of the anti-defection law. MPs met Speaker Om Birla twice. Very recently, YSRCP parliamentary party leader Mithun Reddy met Om Birla to plead for the disqualification of Raghuramakrishnam Raju.

Despite YSRCP’s bonhomie with the BJP and despite Jagan’s friendship with Modi, the YSRCP is unable to get rid of Raju. It is now worried that Raju will rise issues in Parliament that will put the YSRCP in a spot. If a party member speaking against the party in Lok Sabha, it would be a huge embarrassment.

Even on Friday, YSRCP Rajya Sabha MP and party general secretary Vijaysai Reddy met Om Birla and petitioned about Raju’s ouster. However, from the body language of Vijaysai, it is clear that Om Birla’s response was lukewarm. Reddy even charged the speaker with a bias. This, analysts feel, will further drive a wedge between the speaker and the YSRCP. Things may only get more complicated, they argue. But as of now, the YSRCP is finding Raghuramakrishnam Raju a very tough nut to crack.

Strange story of Khammam Boss: TRS ignores, BJP entices, YSRTP lures

1

Time was when he was the unquestioned king of Khammam district’s politics. Wherever he was and whatever his position was, he became a byword for development. As Khammam’s strongman, he had his indelible imprint on the politics. But today, Tummala Nageswara Rao is unusually silent. All eyes are now on this politician and his next moves.

Tummala is currently in a political dilemma. He finds that the party he is in has no value for him. At the same time, he has no inclination to join the party that wants him. After he left the TDP to join the TRS, he was made a key minister in KCR cabinet. However, he lost the election in the 2018 elections and has been on the sidelines ever since. KCR clearly is according more priority to young Ajay Puvvada as he gels well with his son KTR. As a result, Tummala remains ignored.

His supporters and fans are in a mood of dejection. They feel that KCR should have rehabilitated a strong leader like Tummala. This perhaps is the first ever time in the four decades of his active political career that Tummala is without any position of importance for such a long time, they argue. Tummala too has been keeping away from TRS programmes and is largely keeping to himself.

Meanwhile, the BJP is desperately seeking him. The party has made several attempts to entice him. The BjP feels that his entry will drastically change the political landscape in Khammam. Several key BJP leaders have met him and tried to lure him into the party. But, Tummala largely remained lukewarm to the BJP offer.Meanwhile, there are reports that YS Sharmila too has sent him feelers. The party feels that Tummala’s entry could give the party the much-needed big bang.

As of now Tummala has gone on record saying that he would not join the BJP at any cost. He said he would remain with the TRS. However, with the TRS not rehabilitating him honorably, there is disquiet among his supporters. How long with Tummala douse these fires of disquiet remains to be seen.
