Top producer Dil Raju is producing Varisu which has Vijay in the lead role. The actor was reportedly paid Rs 110 crores as remuneration for the film and Varisu hits the screens during Sankranthi 2023. Vijay is one actor who stays away from promotions and he only attends the pre-release event of his films in Chennai. He never promoted any film in Telugu states till date. Dil Raju is trying hard to convince Vijay and bring him for the promotions of Vaarasudu in Hyderabad. Vijay is hesitant about promotions and he only gave one interview during the release of Beast.

As biggies like Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy are in the Sankranthi race, it is important for some aggressive promotions of Vaarasudu. Vijay’s Telugu market is on a rise and he has to promote the film to cement his position in one of the biggest markets. Varisu is a family entertainer directed by Vamshi Paidipally. Rashmika is the heroine and Thaman scored the music. The released singles are super hits in Tamil. The film’s release date will be announced soon.

Dil Raju is left in a tight spot because of his previous comments he made on dubbing films. His next film Varisu is getting ready for a record release. Because of his hold in the exhibition sector, Dil Raju blocked a major number of screens in Nizam and Vizag regions for the film. He is facing the heat from all the corners now. He has to allocate screens for Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya and Balakrishna’s Veerasimha Reddy. For the first time, Dil Raju is facing the heat from the exhibitors and the distributors. With Dil Raju blocking record number of screens, the exhibitors aren’t happy with his move. They are not able to raise their voice as Dil Raju is the top distributor and he has a heap of films lined up for release as a distributor.

Most of them feel that Dil Raju is overhyping Vaarasudu. Vijay is sure a top actor in Tamil. But the audience are not ready to rush to watch Vaarasudu when they have options like Waltair Veerayya and Veerasimha Reddy. Allocating more number of screens beyond the market or potential of Vijay is sure not a wise move from Dil Raju. He may be super confident on the film but actors like Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna would be watching things closely. Some of the exhibitors are not ready to allocate screens for Vaarasudu during the crucial holiday season. Dil Raju’s move is badly opposed across the circles of Telugu cinema.

It may be a blind gamble or Dil Raju might wish to prove his hold in distribution, but it is a bad move from Dil Raju. He is just overhyping Vaarasudu which hardly generated any hype across the Tollywood audience.

Top producer Dil Raju is in news because of Varisu, a Telugu and Tamil bilingual directed by Vamshi Paidipally. The past statements of Dil Raju left him in trouble and the top producer remained tightlipped though he was targeted or criticized. For the first time, Dil Raju responded about the controversy over Sankranthi 2023 releases during his interview. He said that all is well between the producers of upcoming Sankranthi releases and some people have been willingly making it a controversy.

“I announced that Vijay’s Varisu will release for Sankranthi 2023 long ago. After this, Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya joined the Sankranthi race. Balakrishna’s Veerasimha Reddy was planned for December release but it landed in Sankranthi race because of the delay in the shoot. There are enough number of screens to accommodate all the three films during the holiday season. I am in constant touch with Mythri Naveen and his team about the release planning. They are releasing their films on their own in Nizam. Some of them wanted to make this an issue. Mythri Movie Makers never complained in the Producers Council but some of them in the Council have created the controversy” told Dil Raju.

“I have leased out 37 screens out of the 420 screens in Nizam. Asian Sunil holds 100 screens and other screens are run by the owners. We have a good hold in the distribution circles and the exhibitors will offer their screens to me on a priority basis. There is no problem between Mythri Movie Makers and me” told Dil Raju.

After cementing his position and scoring several super hits in Telugu, top producer Dil Raju decided to move on to Bollywood. He picked up the remakes of Jersey and HIT. Both these films ended up as duds though Dil Raju ended up safe as he sold the non-theatrical rights for record prices. He is in talks for the remake of Naandhi and the shoot commences soon. Dil Raju distributed the Tamil blockbuster film Love Today across the Telugu states and the film is doing decent business all over.

Dil Raju had plans to remake the film in Telugu but he released the dubbed version as the digital release will take place on December 2nd. He believes that the film has enough potential to do well in Hindi. He is in talks with AGS Entertainment to remake the film in Hindi. He is looking for possible collaborations and will announce the project after the actor gets locked. Pradeep Ranganathan who directed the original may direct the youthful entertainer.

With the release dates of Waltair Veerayya and Veerasimha Reddy yet to be announced, Dil Raju has plans of releasing Varisu on January 12th. If there is a clash with any of the films, Varisu release will be pushed by a day. Dil Raju has to be in good books with Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna. He should land into trouble by blocking too many theatres for Varisu. For this, he asked the distributors to allocate the screens according to the strength of Vijay’s market. He is in no mood to land into controversy. He explained about the situation in Telugu states to Vijay in advance. The actor too is ready to take a call as per Dil Raju as the release date nears.

Dil Raju is now planning a perfect strategy for Varisu. He is not distributing any of the other Sankranthi releases this year.

After the move from the Telugu Film Producers Council, the exhibitors are completely against Dil Raju and Varisu. Most of them are not ready to pay advances and they are mounting pressure on the distributors to screen Waltair Veerayya or Veera Simha Reddy considering the taste of the Telugu audience. Most of them argue that Vijay’s film would be the third option before Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy.

The distributors of Dil Raju are left in stress and they are mounting pressure on the producer to postpone Varisu. Dil Raju cannot postpone Varisu but he may have to push the Telugu version or adjust with limited screens. Though he can lock more number of screens for Varisu, he may have to lose it if both Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy receive a positive response.

On the other side, Mythri Movie Makers that produced Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy are aggressive and they are keen to lock more screens for these films. Dil Raju has to be careful to save his film and at the same time he has to be extra cautious during Sankranthi. Else he would lose a relation with two Telugu top stars with whom he has been dreaming to produce films soon.

Four films are gearing up for release in Telugu during the Sankranthi 2023 holiday season. Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya, Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy, Prabhas’ Adipurush and Vijay’s Vaarasudu are the films in the season. Vaarasudu director Vamshi Paidipally recently announced that Vaarasudu is a properly made Tamil film which means that it is a dubbed film. The Tollywood audience are eager about the release of straight Telugu films. Vaarasudu would be the last choice when the films of veteran actors like Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna are in the race. Prabhas is a pan-Indian star and his box-office potential is known to everyone.

Vaarasudu producer Dil Raju has a strong hold across the Telugu distribution circles. But this is not working for him considering the release chart of Sankranthi season. The distributors and the exhibitors are not much interested to screen the film. Most of the theatres would be allocated for the straight Telugu films. The exhibitors too are not ready to pay big advances for Vaarasudu but Dil Raju is expecting huge advances. Vijay’s Telugu theatrical market is just between Rs 12-15 crores but Dil Raju is expecting big. His close friends have suggested Dil Raju to postpone the film.

But Vijay, the lead actor of Vaarasudu is not much interested to postpone the film as the Tamil release would be crucial for him. There are also talks that Adipurush may be out of Sankranthi race but there is no clarity for now. The pressure has been mounting up on Dil Raju after the film is in the last in the list. A better clarity about the Sankranthi 2023 releases is expected in December.

It has been more than three weeks since the shoots of Telugu films are kept on hold. A series of meetings are held on a regular basis and the Tollywood producers decided to resume the shoots from September 1st. The Film Chamber and the Producers Council will grant permission to resume the shoots for some of the films from August 25th considering the emergency. Several key decisions are taken and the Producers will announce the taken key decisions on August 30th through the media.

There are decisions taken on the remunerations, OTT release dates, VPN charges in theatres, ticket price flexibility and how to bring control on the film budgets. Tollywood is all set to get back to track after a month’s break. Some key agreements will be made before the shoots will resume. The Producers held meetings with all the crafts of Telugu cinema after which the decisions are made.

As there was a delay in Thank You, I requested the team of Karthikeya 2 to move out from July 22nd release and they agreed for the same” told Dil Raju.

“With the permission of the producers, I am here to issue a clarification. There were a lot of rumors about me. Nikhil has been discussing about the release of Karthikeya 2 from sometime. They decided to release Karthikeya 2 during the Independence Day weekend. I suggested them to avoid clash and move the film by a day. There are unwanted rumors about the same. Most of them feel that there is no unity between us. But 99 percent of the time, we discuss and plan the releases to avoid a clash. We have averted several clashes. Nobody is here to kill films. There has to be a minimum commonsense for those who write and read those rumors. It is being done for clicks or subscribers. I am a calm-going person and I never entertained clashes” told Dil Raju.

“If there is no healthy relationship, I will not be invited to this success meet. People Media Factory is producing eight films currently and it is the leading production house. Who will try to have a tiff with the top production house of Tollywood? The facts should be verified before writing or publishing a piece of news. Karthikeya 2 collected Rs 4 crores in Nizam over the weekend when there are multiple films screened. Never throw stones on others. Dil Raju is saleable and they are writing about me. I love films and I never kill or spoil any film. Please shut your mouths if you are not aware of the facts” concluded Dil Raju.

Dil Raju bends to the pressure of Tollywood Producers

Tollywood producers decided to head for a strike and all the film shoots are kept on hold. Dil Raju who is a key player and active member of the Guild continued the shoot of his Telugu and Tamil bilingual Vaarasudu. Dil Raju was trolled badly and he was targeted. Some of the Tollywood producers even questioned him directly and Dil Raju decided to put the shoot of Vaarasudu on hold. Dil Raju himself today revealed that the shoots of all the films came to a halt now.

There is also a discussion that the ongoing schedule of Vaarasudu in Vizag is completed and the next schedule is shifted to Chennai. Some of the pending episodes and interior episodes will be shot in Chennai. Tollywood producers have been meeting on a regular basis to discuss about the possible solutions for the issues and challenges faced by the producers. There is no clarity about when would the shoots resume and when would the strike end.
