DBT is Duplicate and Bogus Transfer scheme, says TDP

0

Telugu Desam Party. (TDP) MLC Paruchuri Ashok Babu has termed the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme, the most favourite scheme of Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy as Duplicate and Bogus Transfer scheme.

Talking to media persons at the party headquarters here on Wednesday, Ashok Babu said that Jagan Mohan Reddy has been making false claims in the implementation of every welfare programme. “Today Jagan pressed the button for the so-called welfare scheme but did not mention for how many times he pressed such buttons,” the TDP MLC remarked.

The Chief Minister claimed that a total of Rs 2,011 cr, including Rs 395 cr financial benefit under Jagananna Thodu scheme, has been extended to 15 lakh beneficiaries as interest free loan. This is nothing but misleading the public with false claims and “that is the reason as to why we called it as Duplicate and Bogus Transfer, ” he added.

Maintaining that the Centre has been giving interest free loans of Rs 10,000 each under Atma Nirbhar Bharat to pretty businessmen in all the States, including Andhra Pradesh, since 2020, Ashok Babu said that the Centre is even uploading the details of the beneficiaries on its website. Of the total amount of annual interest of Rs 16 cr on these loans, the Centre is paying Rs 10 cr and the respective State Government has to pay the remaining Rs 6 cr.

“But Jagan Reddy has been claiming that the State Government is paying the total amount of interest. How shameful it is,” he remarked. Also, the Chief Minister is claiming that the interest free scheme is being implemented only in Andhra Pradesh. “That is the reason as to why Mr Jagan is called as bogus Chief Minister,” Ashok Babu commented.

When the Centre is extending the financial benefit to the poor petty traders in the shape of bank loans, claiming that the State Government is giving the benefit is nothing but stopping so low, the TDP MLC commented.

The funds meant for Dwcra women amounting to Rs 8,700 cr and Rs 2,100 cr under Abhaya Hastham have been totally diverted, he said adding that the Rs 7,600 cr sanctioned by the 14th and 15th Finance Commission for panchayats too were misused.

K A Paul wants TDP, YCP to merge with his party

1

Evangelist-turned-politician, Dr K A Paul said that he was born as a Hindu and would die as a Hindu. He gave this statement during his visit to Tirupati on Tuesday, where he addressed a media conference from the local press club.

Dr Paul, who is currently touring Andhra Pradesh, is holding meetings of his Praja Shanti Party aiming at contesting the next general elections in the two Telugu states. He is also aiming to win some Parliament seats to contest for the Prime Minister post.

Whatever he speaks creates a lot of fun for the Telugu people. He claims 80 per cent support for him in Telangana and 60 per cent in Andhra Pradesh. He finds just 15 per cent support from the people for the TRS in Telangana and 16 per cent votes for the YSR Congress in Andhra Pradesh.

He discounted the existence of BJP and Congress in Telangana. He also found a similar situation for the Telugu Desam Party and the Jana Sena in Andhra Pradesh.

Much to the amusement of the media persons in particular and people in general, Dr Paul asked Jagan Mohan Reddy, Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan to merge their parties in his Praja Shanti Party.

He has nearly half-a-dozen bouncers providing security for him wherever he is going these days. He also has his own convoy of five highly sophisticated vehicles and he stays in the star hotels as he visits.

He meets Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Fisheries Minister Parshottam Rupala often but again criticises the Modi-led government at the Centre. He has been pleading with the chief ministers of the two Telugu states to give him permission to hold a global peace summit. Since neither of the chief ministers have given permission, he is into politics claiming to form his government in the two Telugu states.

Whatever he says, Dr Paul is becoming an entertainer for the people of the Telugu states. Let’s see what is in store for his global evangelist.

YSRCP leaders running hawala mafia in casino guise, says TDP

0

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Saturday said that the ruling YSRCP senior leaders like Kodali Nani and Vallabhaneni Vamsi are running a hawala mafia in the guise of casino and demanded that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conduct a detailed inquiry into their involvement to bring the facts to light. Besides Kodali Nani and Vallabhaneni Vamsi, there are several other leaders from YSRCP involved in the transactions with casino kingpin Chikoti Praveen, the TDP leader said.

TDP former MP Konakalla Narayana Rao told media persons at the TDP headquarters here that some YSRCP top leaders are behind the casino don Chikoti Praveen who is now under ED observation. The ED has already found during its investigation that Chikoti Praveen is involved in large scale hawala transactions and was involved in illegal money transfer from Nepal to India and vice versa with the support of the ruling party leaders both in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, he stated.

Recalling that casino was organised under Kodali Nani at Gudivada in Krishna district in January 2022 on the occasion of Sankranthi during which those participated played cards and also involved in several illegal activities, the former MP said and maintained that a whooping Rs 180 cr was collected as entry fee from the participants. When a TDP fact finding team visited Gudivada to find out the facts, the YSRCP goondas damaged the car of the TDP leaders, he pointed out.

When the TDP fact finding team members lodged a complaint with the local police on the damage caused to their car, the police, instead of taking action against those involved in the incident, filed a counter case against the TDP leader, Narayana Rao observed. Even the Governor did not initiate any action till now though a representation against organising the casino was submitted to him, he said.

The TDP leader asked what is the share of Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy and Kodali Nani in the amount collected by Chikoti Praveen by organising the casino. The ED should probe this and come before the public with the facts, they demanded.

Narayana Rao said that even the SC, ST Atrocities Act is being misused as several illegal cases are being registered against the TDP leaders, they said and expressed confidence that the TDP will come back to power and rectify the situation in the State.

TDP demands judicial probe into AP liquor policy

0

Former minister and TDP senior leader K S Jawahar on Saturday demanded a judicial inquiry into the revenue generated through liquor sales and how this revenue is being diverted to his henchmen.

Jawahar said that before coming to power, Jagan Mohan Reddy promised to impose prohibition but after coming to power and becoming Chief Minister he transformed it into a maximum generating revenue source.

Jagan Mohan Reddy had said that he did not want to see any woman becoming a widow due to liquor consumption but after coming to power he made liquor business a major source of income. How many people died after consuming the strange brands of liquor and how many women became widows after Jagan Mohan Reddy became Chief Minister, he asked.

Jagan Reddy made prohibition a myth and always he thinks of how to make more money by selling liquor and sharing it with his henchmen, the TDP leader said.

Scared by Jagan’s policies, several liquor contractors who wanted to take part in the auction ran away like road contractors, he stated. Even MLAs and MLCs were threatened not to take part in the auctions and the YSRCP Government has no proper liquor policy except minting money, he noted.

Can Jagan cancel the present tenders and order for a judicial inquiry into the faulty tender system, Jawahar asked. The TDP strongly condemns the present policy and the tenders be recalled, he demanded.

Will TDP back the NDA or UPA in Vice-Presidential election?

0

All eyes in Andhra Pradesh are on the opposition TDP, which is yet to make its stand clear on the impending vice-president elections. The TDP had backed the NDA candidate in the presidential election.

Interestingly, both the opposition TDP and the ruling YSR Congress have backed the NDA candidate in the presidential election. Andhra Pradesh was the only state where 100 per cent votes went in favour of the NDA in the presidential election.

Now, it is time for the vice-president election, which is scheduled to be held on August 6. The NDA had named Jagdeep Dhankhar as its candidate, while the UPA had named its former minister Margaret Alva. Both the candidates have wide experience in administration and politics as well.

The ruling YSR Congress had already announced its support to the NDA candidate, the TDP is yet to announce its stand. It is said to be closely watching other political parties and their stand in this election.

The Trinamool Congress of West Bengal headed by Mamatha Benerji had said that it would stay away from the election. There are a few other small parties which have announced that they would keep off from the election.

The TRS from Telangana state is also yet to take a call. Sources say that the party leadership is considering various options, including a neutral stand.

The TDP was with the NDA for several years and had tied-up with the UPA just before the 2019 elections. However, the party had been maintaining equal distance from both the NDA and UPA after its defeat in the 2019 elections.

It is to be seen what stand the TDP would take in the vice-presidential election!

Blaming Chandrababu always will not help, say TDP MP

1

“Blaming TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu is not going to help the YSR Congress. Even after three years in power, Jagan Mohan Reddy and his party leaders are living on pointing an accusing finger at Chandrababu Naidu for everything. It will not fetch them even a single vote in the next election,” said TDP MP, K Ram Mohan Naidu.

Speaking to media persons in Delhi on Tuesday, the TDP MP found fault with chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy for blaming Chandrababu Naidu during his visit to the flood-hit areas of Dr Ambedkar Konaseema district. He said Jagan Mohan Reddy had gone to the victims after the crisis was over while Naidu visited them when they were struggling for survival in the floods.

The TDP MP felt that Jagan Mohan Reddy would have consoled the victims and have done something good for the people during his visit. But, the chief minister had dedicated his time only to point an accusing finger at Chandrababu Naidu, he said.

Referring to AP finance minister Buggana Rajendranath’s me4dia conference in Delhi on Tuesday, the TDP MP said that the finance minister had tried to mislead people with cooked-up information. He wondered why the finance minister had come all the way from Andhra Pradesh to the national capital by a flight only to speak about Chandrababu Naidu.

“Andhra Pradesh is caught in debts. There is no money. The officials are struggling for survival with empty coffers. Why did the finance minister spend so much money to travel by air to Delhi? He could have saved that money for some programme or the other,” the MP heckled.

He blamed the YSR Congress for not speaking anything in the Parliament about the special category status or the privatisation of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. He said that the party had betrayed the people of Andhra Pradesh by being silent on the key issues concerning the state.

FRBM norms thrown to winds by Jagan Govt, says TDP

1

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Saturday expressed serious concern over the alarming economic situation in the State.

Party spokesperson Kommareddy Pattabhiram told media persons at the party office here that for the past few months the whole nation has been discussing the financial crisis in the State, particularly after the scary Sri Lankan situation, the situation is more alarming. Serious debates are going on in the State going for debts under various heads, including in the name of corporations, and the huge amount of interest being paid, he said.

Pointing out that a whopping Rs 25,000 cr loan is raised from different banks by setting up a company in the name of Andhra Pradesh State Development Corporation and this amount is being diverted, Pattabhiram said and clarified that the TDP is opposing only such diversion of funds but not spending money to take up welfare schemes.

Even the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) pointed out that the guidelines issued by the bank are thrown to the winds while raising loans. After observing all this, the RBI issued revised guidelines to the scheduled banks on June 14, 2022 that the norms be strictly followed.

When the RBI issued such clear instructions, the State Government violated all the norms and issued various GOs setting up corporations like the APSDC, he said adding that this is the performance of the State Government. “Implementation and funding of Jagananna Amma Vodi Programme for the financial year 2020-21 by Andhra Pradesh State Development Corporation” mentioned in the GO No 3, issued on January 8, 2021, is nothing but to swallow the funds, he said.

The agreement made in the name of the Governor clearly mentions that even if the State revenue falls after imposing prohibition and the revenue from the Excise Departments falls, the banks are not responsible as the State Government stands guarantee to repay. Also, the pact clearly mentions that the State Government is considered as the principal debtor.

At least Rs 10 lakh crore is credited to Mr Jagan accounts and the people should, at least now, realise the economic condition of the State after the RBI’s letter and what reply the Finance Minister, Mr Buggana Rjendranath Reddy, will give now, Pattabhi asked.

AP moving towards economic emergency, says TDP

0

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) senior leader K Pattabhi Ram on Friday said that Andhra Pradesh is fast moving towards economic emergency. He said that the economic indiscipline of the State has reached its peak and demanded that a white paper be published on the economic condition of the State. The TDP is ready for an open debate if the State Government publishes a white paper on the revenue, expenditure and other details on the financial condition of the State, he added.

The national and even the global media is publishing reports on the grave economic condition of the State but the ruling dispensation is only blaming and branding it as yellow media, he said. Expressing serious concern over the disturbing financial crisis the State is passing through, Pattabhi said that the total debts of Andhra Pradesh is far higher than any other State in the country.

But advisor to the Government Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy and an IAS officer Duvvuri Krishna are only comparing the financial condition with that of the Centre. How can the senior IAS officer claim that the economic discipline of the State is far better than the Centre, he said and asked whether he is a civil servant or a leader of the YSRCP.

Giving the details of the revenue, debt GDP and other details of Andhra Pradesh, he asked the State Government to come for an open debate on all these issues. “How can the ruling dispensation mention the GDP ratio during the TDP regime,” he asked and gave the details when the TDP was in power. From 2014 to 2016 it was 29 per cent while from 2017 to 2019 it was 8 per cent, he stated.

Even in taking over drafts and obtaining loans from the RBI, Andhra Pradesh is on top, he said and asked why the reports on the details are missing from the website of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) for the past three months, he asked. Pattabhi expressed serious concern over the confusing trends in the State economy and felt that Andhra Pradesh is fast moving towards economic emergency.

Kesineni heats up TDP politics, locks horns with brother

1

Vijayawada MP, Kesineni Srinivas, alias Nani, is generating greater heat in the opposition TDP in Andhra Pradesh. While his entry into politics initially was controversial, his nomination for Vijayawada Lok Sabha seat by the TDP in 2014 too was equally controversial.

He continues the controversy in his second term as MP and is not on good terms with party chief N Chandrababu Naidu or general secretary Nara Lokesh. He is said to be unhappy with the way Lokesh is interfering with his Lok Sabha constituency.

Kesineni believes that Lokesh was behind the party leaders to revolt against him in Vijayawada. Party senior leaders like Buddha Venkanna, K Nagul Meera, Bonda Umamaheswara Rao and others have openly criticised Kesineni a year ago.

The MP did not meet Chandrababu Naidu for almost one year after his second victory in the 2019 elections. However, Chandrababu Naidu personally invited Kesineni and tried to pacify him. It was then, Naidu appointed Kesineni as the in-charge of the Vijayawada West Assembly constituency.

However, the gap continues for him in the party. The latest is that he feels that Lokesh is encouraging his brother, Kesineni Sivanadh alias Chinni in Vijayawada politics. Sivanadh is active in real estate business in Hyderabad and is said to be eyeing the Vijayawada Lok Sabha seat in the 2024 elections.

Kesineni Nani had now lodged a complaint with the Vijayawada and Hyderabad police alleging that some people were using fake stickers on their vehicles bearing his name. Following this, the police have registered a case and found that the car owned by his brother Sivanadh was having the sticker of Vijayawada MP. The police have also seized the vehicle.

Meanwhile, Kesineni Nani had lodged a complaint with the Parliament secretary alleging that his name and his identity were being forged and misused by some unidentified persons in the two Telugu States. He wanted the secretary of the Parliament to take action against such persons.

It is to be seen what turn this war between the brothers within the TDP would take in the days to come!

Naidu gives direction to MPs ahead of Parliament session

0

TDP supremo and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu held a meeting with the party MPs ahead of the impending Parliament Session. The session is scheduled to begin on July 18 with the members participating in the Presidential election.

From July 19, the session is likely to be held till August 12, according to the schedule released by the Parliament secretariat on Friday. Besides the presidential election, the session would also thank President Ram Nath Kovind and give farewell to vice-president and Rajya Sabha chairman, M Venkaiah Naidu.

Keeping these issues in consideration, Chandrababu Naidu gave direction to his party MPs to follow in the session. The TDP has three members in Lok Sabha and one in Rajya Sabha. All the MPs, Galla Jayadev, Kesineni Srinivas (Nani) and K Rammohan Naidu, all three from Lok Sabha and Kanakamedala Ravindra Kumar from Rajya Sabha were present at the meeting with Chandrababu Naidu.

Party AP unit president and former minister K Atchannaidu was also present during the deliberations. Sources say that Chandrababu Naidu had reportedly asked his party MPs to use their contacts with the senior BJP leaders in Delhi to restore alliance between the two parties for the 2024 elections.

Chandrababu Naidu is understood to have made a special request to Kesineni Nani to use all his contacts with the BJP leaders to convince them for alliance. It may be noted that the BJP leadership had included the TDP meeting in Presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu’s visit to the state on July 12.

Though Rajya Sabha member Kanakamedala Ravindra Kumar tried his best to fix the meeting through Union Minister Kishan Reddy, it did not work for them. It was only after Kesineni’s request to Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari, Rajnath Singh and others, the BJP leadership had finally agreed to include TDP’s meeting in Vijayawada with Murmu.

It is for this reason Chandrababu Naidu is understood to have requested Kesineni Nani to convince the BJP leaders for alliance during this session. He also told them to raise issues concerning Andhra Pradesh in the both houses during the session.

BJP leaders share dais with YSRCP and TDP on same day

1

AP BJP leaders, particularly its chief Somu Veerraju shared the dais with ruling YSR Congress and opposition TDP on the same day on Tuesday in Vijayawada. Veerraju, who keeps on criticising both YSR Congress chief, Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu day in and day out had to share the dais with them separately.

Veerraju accompanied NDA presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu in Andhra Pradesh, who came here to seek support for her in the Presidential election. She first attended the meeting hosted by YSR Congress chief, Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy in Mangalagiri.

The AP BJP chief thanked Jagan Mohan Reddy for extending support to the BJP-sponsored NDA candidate in the presidential election.

Later, Veerraju joined Murmu and Union Minister G Kishan Reddy to meet the TDP leaders in a hotel in Vijayawada. The TDP too had extended its support to Murmu and requested the BJP leaders to visit them during her visit to the State.

Accordingly, the BJP leaders followed Murmu to a hotel in Vijayawada and shared the dais with Chandrababu Naidu. He had to be seated on the dais along with other TDP leaders including K Atchannaidu and Yanamala Ramakrishnudu.

Quite interestingly, the TDP broke away with the BJP before the 2019 elections and Somu Veerraju has been hitting the TDP hard since then. When some attempts were reportedly made for a patch up, Veerraju was in the forefront in opposing alliance with the TDP again.

However, in politics everything is possible and there are no permanent friends and foes in power politics.

State Govt withdraws gunmen to TDP MLA

1

The State government on Monday withdrew gunmen to opposition TDP MLA Payyavula Keshav. The government directed the two gunmen currently attached to the MLA to come back to their base.

The TDP MLA is also the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee and has been exposing the government’s audit statements and the finances. He had recently asked the state government to increase his security as he was receiving threats from unidentified persons.

Instead of increasing the security for the MLA and chairman of the PAC, the government withdrew the two security personnel working with him.

The TDP protested against the sudden withdrawal of security for the MLA. The TDP leaders asked the state government to restore security and increase his protection cover in the light of threats he is receiving.

TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu had asked the state police to restore security to Keshav. He blamed the state government, particularly chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy for his vendetta politics. He alleged that the security for Keshav was withdrawn as he made allegations of phone tapping by the government.

He alleged that the government was spying on some MLAs and politicians including those from the ruling party. He also cited some examples to justify his allegation. The TDP chief said that the government instead of proving him wrong, withdrew the security as political vendetta.

TDP to vote for NDA candidate Murmu

1

The opposition TDP had finally decided to support the NDA candidate for the Presidential elections. The party said it would vote for NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu in the presidential election.

The TDP took the decision at the party’s meeting held at the party state office in Mangalagiri on Monday. The TDP said that the party is committed to the concept of social justice right from its inception.

Chandrababu Naidu, in a statement said that the TDP had supported the candidatures of K R Narayanan and Abdul Kalam as the President candidates in the past. The party also did not field its candidate when Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao contested from Nandyal in the past. He further said that the TDP had made a Dalit leader, G M C Balayogi as the Speaker of Lok Sabha in the past.

The TDP has 4 MPs, three in Lok Sabha and one in Rajya Sabha, and 23 MLAs in its account who could vote in the election. The party has 6,457 votes in the electoral college of the Presidential election.

The TDP is one of the 16 parties from outside the NDA. The YSR Congress from Andhra Pradesh with 4.22 per cent votes (45,709 votes) is the largest party in the non-NDA parties list that have announced support to Draupadi Murmu.

Meanwhile, the NDA presidential candidate is all set to visit Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday to meet the YSR Congress MLAs. She would meet the MLAs along with Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy at a function hall in Mangalagiri. Later, she would join the high tea hosted by the chief minister at his camp office.

Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, G Kishan Reddy, would accompany the NDA Presidential candidate during her visit to the State. However, it is not known yet whether she would also meet the TDP MLAs and MPs during her visit as the TDP also extended its support to her.

Ex-Andhra MLA escapes after police raid venue of cockfight near Hyderabad

A former MLA of Andhra Pradesh escaped when the Telangana Police raided a place in Patancheru near here where he had organised a cockfight.

Chintamaneni Prabhakar, a former MLA of Telugu Desam Party (TDP), had allegedly organised the cockfight at a mango grove. On a tip-off, police raided the place on Wednesday night and arrested 21 people. However, 50 others, including Prabhakar managed to escape.

A police team raided the mango grove in the Pedda Kanjarla village where a large group of men was engaged in betting on cockfights under the lights.

Patancheru Deputy Superintendent of Police Bhim Reddy said they conducted the raid after receiving information that Prabhakar was organising cockfights. The police team found about 70 people there but most of them, including Prabhakar managed to escape taking advantage of the darkness.

The police seized 31 roosters, Rs 13.12 lakh cash, 26 vehicles and 27 mobile phones.

The police said that Prabhakar, a former MLA Denduluru in Eluru district of Andhra Pradesh, was conducting the cockfights. The other main organisers were identified as Akkineni Satish, Krishnam Raju, Barla Raju.

Despite the ban, cockfights are common in many parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh during Sankranti celebrations. Crores of rupees change hands as cockfights are organised in towns and villages across several districts in the neighbouring state.

The organisers made specially-bred roosters fight with small knives or blades tied to their legs. The fight often ends with the death of one of the two birds.

Backed by powerful politicians and businessmen, the organisers make special seating arrangements for those participating in betting and for spectators.

Punters from not just neighbouring villages and districts but even Telangana and other states participate in the betting.

Some of the organisers also conduct the cockfights on the outskirts of Hyderabad. The latest incident shows that cockfights are not just confined to Sankranti celebrations.

It was in 2016 that the High Court had banned cockfights. The Supreme Court had upheld the ban.

Animal rights activists point out that as per the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 and the Andhra Pradesh Gaming Act, 1974, cockfights are illegal.

They say despite court orders, the cockfights continue unabated, reportedly under the patronage of elected public representatives while law enforcement agencies turn blind eye to this lawlessness.

TDP accuses Jagan of diverting public money for own newspaper

Andhra Pradesh’s opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has accused Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy of diverting public money to his own newspaper.

TDP politburo member Yanamala Ramakrishnudu alleged that Jagan Mohan Reddy is doing business with cunning ideas.

He came down heavily on the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government for its latest order for spending Rs.5.5 crore on village volunteers every month so that they can buy Telugu daily aSakshi’.

The former finance minister alleged that Jagan is diverting funds from taxes and hiked charges to his own newspaper. He also slammed the chief minister for ignoring the welfare of government employees and distributing the ‘looted public money to the village volunteers who are his own party workers.’

“Employees are the bridge between the government and the public. Their efforts are needed for proper administration by the government. But Jagan Reddy is treating the employees as his slaves. The employees are not getting salaries in time. In the past three years of Y.S. Jagan, the state government employees rarely got their salaries on day one. On the other hand, their salaries are cut off with reverse PRC,” Ramakrishnudu said.

The TDP leader alleged that Jagan Reddy is doing gross injustice to the employees but promoting the village volunteers.

He said the volunteers have been looting the public with their corrupt practices.

“They are taking bribes for any welfare scheme. Public think it is more than enough to give them Rs 5,000 salaries. But Jagan Reddy has fed them Rs 485.44 crore on the name of Seva Ratna and Seva Vajra awards. Now, Jagan government has issued a G.O. to pay Rs 200 per month for the sake of buying newspapers,” he said.

The TDP leader pointed out that there are almost 2.66 lakh village/ ward volunteers in the state and it needs Rs 5.5 crore every month for purchasing newspapers.

He alleged that the Chief Minister is giving money to the volunteers from the government exchequer and they will purchase Jagan’s own newspaper.

“Thus Jagan Reddy is diverting public money to his own ‘Khazana’. He is doing business with cunning ideas. Can’t he, who claims to be in politics for public service, distribute his own paper to his own party workers free of cost?” he asked.

He said Jagan Reddy cancelled many schemes brought by previous TDP government like overseas education, Anna Canteens, Dulhan scheme for Muslim girls, Adarana instruments for Backward Class employment, corporation loans for self employment of SC, ST, Backward Class and Minority youth.

The TDP leaders alleged YSRCP leaders and workers are looting all natural resources in the state, grabbing government lands and amassing wealth. Jagan government is imposing heavy taxes on the public, and diverting those funds to his own media.

“The spending on public welfare is less than the advertisements given to his own paper. Jagan government has spent Rs 280 crore public money in just 3 years, for Sakshi newspaper alone,” he said.

Clear your stand on President elections, Sajjala asks TDP

1

YSR Congress general secretary and government advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy on Wednesday asked the opposition TDP to spell its stand on the Presidential election. Sajjala wanted to know why the TDP is silent on the Presidential election.

He said that the TDP has four MPs and 23 MLAs who would be voting including Chandrababu Naidu in the Presidential election. He wanted to know why the TDP had not made its stand clear yet. He wondered whether the TDP would vote for the NDA candidate or the opposition candidate.

He expressed doubts over the TDP’s stand on the Presidential and vice-presidential elections. He wanted Chandrababu Naidu to make his stand clear at least now. He said that the YSR Congress had already made its stand clear on the Presidential election. The party had announced its support to Draupadi Murmu, the first ST woman to become the President for the first time in 75 years of Independence.

“We are clear in our social justice slogan. We have been proving it by giving due representation to the neglected sections. The STs in Andhra Pradesh enjoy greater representation,” Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said.

He said that the YSR Congress has no interest in national politics. We are in the state and we work for the state, he asserted. Hitting at the TDP chief, the government advisor questioned the silence maintained by the TDP in the Presidential election.

Naidu blames govt for social media arrests

0

TDP chief and leader of opposition, N Chandrababu Naidu blamed the AP state government for arresting the TDP activists for their posts in the social media. Chandrababu Naidu wrote a letter to DGP K V Rajendranath Reddy on Sunday asking him to stop the arrests.

He alleged that the CID police were harassing the TDP activists for their posts in the social media. He also blamed the police for arresting the activists in the midnight and terrorising the family members.

The TDP chief said that the arrests were against the ruling of the Supreme Court. He sought to remind the DGP that the Apex Court had advised the police not to arrest people for their posts in the social media. He wondered why the AP government was not following the Supreme Court directions.

He alleged that the police have arrested the TDP activists including Garlapati Venakteswara Rao, Mokarla Sambasiva Rao, who are being subjected to physical torture by the police. The TDP chief wanted the DGP to intervene and stop the arrests by the CID sleuths.

Chandrababu Naidu said that the YSR Congress government was victimising the political opponents. The TDP activists across the state are being arrested and tortured by the police. He wanted the police to be neutral and follow the rules despite the ruling party’s pressure.

The former chief minister asked the DPG to take action against the CID sleuths who were targeting the TDP activists and subjecting them to physical torture. He also cautioned the police and the CID against severe action and punishment after the TDP formed its government in the 2024 elections.

Lokesh slams Jagan bid to sell ‘Capital smasanam’

TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh on Sunday accused Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy of hatching non-stop conspiracies to destroy the Amaravati Capital City.

Nara Lokesh asked how Jagan Reddy could put up Amaravati lands for sale at Rs. 10 Cr per acre after his Government called the Capital City region just a ‘smasanam’ (cremation ground).

Lokesh recalled how the ruling YSRCP Ministers and MLAs carried out a nefarious campaign against AP Capital. They said that Amaravati was prone to earthquakes and that the Capital city lands were vulnerable to floods.

Lokesh said that Jagan and his party leaders spread a vicious information propaganda against the mother-like Amaravati Capital. Now, the same YCP leaders were trying to sell Amaravati lands at a very high value. There seemed to be no end to the scheming and plotting of Jagan Reddy against the State and its Capital city.

The TDP for different reasons had invested mostly in Amaravati, both in terms of money and votes. It thought that Amaravati would help retain the power given the extensive publicity that was accorded to the unbuilt city.

Unfortunately, the TDP was defeated badly in Amaravati Capital city area, though it gained some victory in the Capital Region area. It had won two MP seats – Vijayawada and Guntur – which is Amaravati capital region area, but lost in Mangalagiri and Tadikonda, both are Amaravati capital city area.

Since the TDP had been keeping the Amaravati issue alive and had been fighting for it from 2019, it is to be seen if the city would resurrect the party to power in the next election.

Is trouble brewing in the Kesineni family?

1

The Vijayawada’s Kesineni family is in the news this week for a wrong reason. The news is that the Kesineni brothers are in fighting mode. However, it is not clear whether the two are really at loggerheads.

Kesineni Srinivas alias Nani is the two-time Lok Sabha member from Vijayawada won on TDP ticket. His brother Kesineni Sivanath alias Chinni has been a successful realtor in Hyderabad. The siblings were on good terms until the news came that they had become poles apart.

It is a known fact that Nani is not happy with the party leadership and has been keeping away from the party activities. He was first disappointed with the leadership denying him the Parliamentary Party leadership after the 2019 elections. Later, he was upset with the party leadership not acting against his critics and rivals in the party in Vijayawada.

While former minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao is equally strong even after losing the 2019 elections, senior leaders K Nagul Meera and Buddha Venkanna have turned against Nani. They have even openly criticised Nani causing him embracement.

After these developments, Kesineni Nani has been inactive in the party. It is said that Nani’s indifferent attitude seems to have given a chance for the party leadership to set its eye on Nani’s brother Chinni and lure him with a better position in the party.

Sources say that Chandrababu Naidu and Lokesh have reportedly held talks with Chinni and have even offered the Lok Sabha seat if Nani refuses to contest. Perhaps this is the reason why Nani is said to have hinted at similar treatment to the Nara family or even the TDP leadership.

“I will give you what you give me. If my enemy is your friend, remember your enemy will be my friend.” This is what Kesineni Nani had said in a meeting with the party leaders indicating the intervention of Naidu and Lokesh in his family.

TDP leader injured during police raid in Chittoor

1

A Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader was injured during police action against a party worker who had allegedly concealed drugs at his house in Chittoor town in Andhra Pradesh.

Former mayor Katari Hemalatha suffered minor injury when she was allegedly hit by a police vehicle as she was trying to resist police’s attempt to arrest her follower Purna.

There was high drama at the residence of Purna in Santhapeta area when police reached there around midnight to conduct search, saying he has concealed ganja at his house. Purna denied this and alleged that he was being implicated.

On receipt of the information of police raid, Hemalata along with her supporters reached there and staged a protest. She tried to stop police from carrying Purna. As the police vehicle tried to speed off, it ran over Hemalata’s feet resulting in minor fracture. The incident triggered strong protest by former mayor’s supporters. She was admitted to a hospital.

Hemalata alleged that the police was trying to implicate Purna in a false case. She said the police conducted the raid hours after she wrote to a senior police official about some unknown persons threatening Prasanna, who is a witness in the murder of her in-laws Katari Anuradha and Mohan.

Anuradha, then mayor, and her husband were shot dead in her office in 2015.

Within hours of the complaint, police reached the house of Purna, who is brother of Prasanna. They alleged that ganja was planted at their house to frame them.

Police, however, said ganja was recovered from Purna’s house. It denied the allegations made by the TDP leaders.

Meanwhile, TDP state president K. Atchannaidu condemned the police action against Hemalata and her supporters. He said the ruling YSRCP was targeting TDP leaders for questioning its misdeeds.
