Politics in times of Corona: YSRCP leaders in poll mode, distribute money

3

Coronavirus is a political problem, not just a health problem. There seems to be an ugly display of the politics of pandemic in Andhra Pradesh more than any other state. While the contagion of corona seems to march across the state, the YSRCP leaders seem to be in an election mode, civic polls that were postponed by the State Election Commission. Until Friday, there was a political deep freeze in so far as the deferred elections were concerned: No rallies, no campaigning, and of course no distribution of money.

Just when everyone thought the local elections were in put the backburner with the SEC putting off the polls, YSRCP leaders proved this as our wishful thinking. On Saturday, YSRCP candidates who are in fray for the upcoming civic body, ZPTC and MPTC elections were caught on camera distributing money to the people in Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts. A large group of YSRCP activists led by the party’s ZPTC and MPTC contesting candidates were seen handing out cash to the people in the two districts claiming that it was being distributed by the party president and state Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. The candidates were caught on camera uttering “Jagan anna asked us to distribute this money. Jagan anna asked us to give Rs 1,000.” An old woman was seen holding wads of notes in her hands distributed by the YSRCP leaders.

There is no problem in distributing cash to the needy especially in these times of complete lockdown which has robbed lakhs of people of their livelihoods. But the Opposition leaders were quick to cry foul. They think the cash which was distributed was actually the central relief funds that the Union government disbursed as part of the State Disaster Risk Management Fund (SDRMF), An amount of Rs 6,195 crore was released as ”Post Devolution Revenue Deficit Grant” to 14 states namely Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Punjab, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttarakhand and West Bengal. This fund was allowed to be utilised for setting up quarantine facilities, sample collection and screening; setting up additional testing laboratories, cost of consumables; purchase of personal protection equipment for healthcare, municipal, police and fire officials, purchase of thermal scanners, ventilators, air purifiers, and consumables for government hospitals.

The distribution of cash to the people has snowballed into a fresh controversy with all the Opposition parties, including the TDP, BJP, Jana Sena Party and CPI set to move the State Election Commission seeking a probe into the whole affair.

Senior TDP leaders including Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and Atchannaidu cried foul. They wrote a letter to Govenor Bishwa Bhushan alleging that the YSRCP leaders were handing out Rs 1,000 cash to people in Srikakulam and Vizianagarm and other districts. The TDP leaders accused that the YSRCP leaders were using the central disaster funds for their political gains ahead of the elections. In the letter, they questioned in what capacity were YSRCP leaders distributing the cash when it should have been done by the government officials.

Here are the violations they listed out

violation number 1. As a rule, such cash distribution, especially central government relief funds should be carried out by the state government officials such as district collectors, MROs, VROs through volunteers.

violation number 2: Since the elections will be held once the corona crisis tides over; such distribution of cash also violates the model code of conduct.

The State Election Commission last month had deferred the elections citing the spread of corona virus, which was challenged by the AP government in the Supreme Court.

The apex court while upholding the SEC’s decision to defer the elections directed the constitutional body to partially relax the election code and allowed the implementation of only the existing development programmes. The Supreme Court also directed the YSRCP ruling that any new programme should be approved by the SEC. The partial relaxation of the code does not permit distribution of cash.

Violation number 3: The distribution of cash was carried out by the large group of local YSRCP leaders without following the mandatory social distancing norm.

COVID-19 crisis not a time for telling lies: TDP tells YCP

1

TDP MLA Nimmala Rama Naidu is taking strong objection to the Jagan Reddy government’s claims that the previous Chandrababu Sarkar pushed AP into serious debts. The MLA says that as usual, the YCP leaders are continuing their stories of lies without being least bothered about the serious crisis that the people are now in. All other states and whole world are spending lots of money to take preventive steps against the virus.

Strangely, in Andhra Pradesh, the Jagan Reddy government is least bothered about the immediate priorities. The TDP MLA said that the government’s claims of financial crisis are false because it has received all the taxes for 356 days out of 365 days last year. The lockdwon problem arose only for nine days in the last days of March.

Rama Naidu asserted that the Chandrababu government had cleared all pending bills left by the earlier YSR government. Likewise, the Jagan government should have to pay the pending bills left by the previous regime. Government is a continuous process, which CM Jagan is refusing to accept.

Setback to Jagan government, SC uphold SEC’s decision to put off AP polls

In a setback to the ruling YSR Congress Party, the Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld the state election commission’s decision to postpone the civic body elections in Andhra Pradesh. Hearing a caveat petition filed by the Jagan government, the apex court said the SEC’s decision as a constitutional authority to defer polls by six weeks supreme. The SEC put off elections in AP citing the coronavirus scare and incidents of violence being reported since election dates were announced following which the ruling YSRCP has filed a petition in the apex court. In the petition, the YSRCP contended that the SEC decision was undemocratic as the decision to postpone the local body polls was taken without any consultation with authorities concerned. Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu came down heavily on the state government for questioning the SEC’s move to put off the elections.

However, in a reprieve to the YSRCP government the Supreme Court partially relaxed the model code of conduct as the elections were postponed and that the state government can continue with its existing welfare schemes or projects with a rider that no freebies should be announced during the six weeks period. However, any new welfare scheme or project should have an approval of the State Election Commission, the Supreme Court observed. Recently, the Maharashtra State Election Commission deferred elections to local bodies in view of the spread of coronavirus.

As a matter of fact, the Supreme Court has taken the spread of coronavirus seriously and initiated several measures to counter the spread of COVID-19. The CJI asked bar bodies to deploy volunteers in court halls, and encourage the members to keep distance and request the lawyers to leave the premises as soon as their matter concludes. In fact, members of the bar were asked to accept, encourage and promote e-filing and video conference of court halls. Thermal screening at the entrance of the apex court was installed and individuals have to fill up declaration forms disclosing if they have cough, cold symptoms.

Recently, it had sought the reply of Director-General, Prison, and chief secretaries of all states and union territories by March 20 regarding the precautionary measures taken in jails across India. The court also cautioned that mass gathering is a big problem and it can become a centre for the spread of coronavirus.

Public pressure mounting on Jagan to close schools

0

AP CM Jaganmohan Reddy sticks to his decisions without caring for anything. He gives top most importance to loyalties of all sorts. Now, the question is arising whether Jagan Reddy is also adamantly loyal to his ego. Political analysts are asking whether the rumours are true that Jagan has set aside to a proposal from the bureaucrats for closure of schools and educational institutions temporarily. If this is real, then Jagan Circar has to do a lot of explaining to the people in the coming days.

Not for nothing, even parents’ associations are demanding closure of schools. Anything related to school children is undoubtedly sensitive. Already, in Telangana and other states, holidays are announced for two to three weeks. Even ISB in Hyderabad suspended classes and began online courses for its students. All Central Government educational institutes have closed down temporarily. Some private schools are ready to voluntarily close for students safety but they are fearing harassment from the government if they go against its decisions. Really, a very tricky situation is confronting Jagan regime.

Can YCP get Nimmagadda shunted out ?

0

YCP top leaders are making all-out efforts to get State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar removed from his office with immediate effect. At the orders of CM Jagan, MP Vijayasai Reddy started using all their party’s lobbying powers in Delhi for this purpose. But, political circles say that it is not that easy for Jagan to remove Nimmagadda at this stage. The BJP top leaders in Delhi would have considered YCP demand by now if Nimmagadda has indeed got the SEC post with the blessings of Chandrababu Naidu.

Rumour is that Nimmagadda got the SEC appointment thanks to his former boss and ex Governor ESL Narasimhan. He had worked under Narasimhan for many years. It is very well-known that Narasimhan is still having strong contacts with the senior leaders and officials in the national capital. Latest information is that the Centre is also not totally ignoring Jagan-Vijayasai because of YCP Rajya Sabha seat to Reliance Natwani. Now, the Centre is considering to get local polls conducted without much delay as per Jagan request. But, it may also be doubtful if corona effect becomes serious.

YSRCP moves SC over postponement of polls

YSR Congress Party on Monday moved the Supreme Court against the decision of the State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar to postpone the rural and urban local bodies in Andhra Pradesh.

The Supreme Court is likely to hear the case tomorrow. On Sunday, Ramesh Kumar postponed the civic body elections citing the emerging challenges posed by the spread of coronavirus and that continuing with the election schedule may be detrimental and harmful to the public health at large.

Ramesh Kumar on Monday met Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan at the Raj Bhavan in Vijayawada and discussed the factors that led to the postponement of the elections. On Sunday, YSRCP president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy met the Governor complaining against the State Election Commissioner’s “arbitrary” postponement of the polls to rural and urban local bodies.

In the discussion lasting for about 45 minute, Ramesh Kumar is learnt to have submitted a detailed report on the commission’s decision to exercise its plenary powers under Articles 243K and 243ZA of the Constitution to put on hold the election process for a period of six weeks or till the threat of Covid-19 is arrested or declined and normalcy restored. The State Election Commissioner said his decisions were strictly as per statute and judgments of High Court and Supreme Court. Further, the election commissioner, it is learnt, has submitted a report on the incidents of violence reported across the state ahead of the elections.

Elections to Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituencies and Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies were originally scheduled for March 21. Nomination process for this has already been completed. Elections to municipalities, nagar panchayats and municipal corporations were slated for March 23.

Vijayasai crosses all limits, abuses SEC Ramesh!

1

YSRCP Rajya Sabha member Vijayasai Reddy on Sunday crossed all the limits of decency and abused AP State Election Commissioner on caste lines. He termed SEC Nimmagadda Ramesh as more dangerous than the corona virus and also compared him with a dog.

He called Nimmagadda Ramesh as Naravari Ramesh to allege that Ramesh works as per the directions of Nara Chandrababu Naidu.

“Ramesh has been doing the same task akin to a dog made to sit on a golden throne, “ he said.

He breathed fire on the SEC for taking decisions unilaterally and postponing the local body elections without taking anyone in the government into confidence.

He sought to know whether he regards TDP alone is the political outfit but not the YSRCP.

As per the agenda of Opposition leader N Chandrababu Naidu the “yellow suicide squad member” and “caste fanatic” caste conducted himself, a fiery Vijayasai Reddy alleged.

He demanded the SEC to resign if he has any moral values. It would be better to call him “Naaravaari Gabbilam” (bat belonging to the family of Chandrababu Naidu).

Vijayasai threatened to move Supreme Court against Ramesh for favoring opposition TDP on caste lines.

Jana Sena MLA busy selecting YCP candidates in Razole

0

Jana Sena only MLA Rapaka Varaprasad is openly involving himself in selection of YCP candidates in his Razole assembly segment. He has become actively associated with YCP leaders in local body elections. This has angered the Jana Sena die-hard loyalists there. They are spreading rumours against Rapaka’s open activities to damage Pawan Kalyan party.

CM Jaganmohan Reddy has allowed Rapaka to work with YCP leaders as part of his mission to weaken Pawan party. Rapaka has spoken in favour of Jagan policies in the Assembly itself. Pawan Kalyan has also sarcastically said that he has no idea whether Rapaka is still with Jana Sena or not. Now, greater clarity has emerged in Jana Sena cadres that they need to develop some other leader for the party’s future interests.

The YCP state leaders are also coordinating with Rapaka Varaprasad with regard to selection of YCP MPTC and ZPTC candidates. Razole YCP activists and second rung leaders have also got clarity that their future leader in assembly segment will be Rapaka only.

Karanam Balaram puts speculations to rest, joins YSRCP

0

Putting days of speculations to rest, TDP senior leader and Chirala MLA Karanam Balaram has finally decided to join the YSR Congress Party.

On Thursday, Balaram along with other TDP leaders left to Tadepalligudem to meet YSRCP president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Speaking to media, the senior TDP leader said it was not an overnight decision but a well-thought one to quit the party in order to serve the people of Chirala.

Karanam Balaram was miffed over TDP president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s decision to admit into the party fold his arch rival YSR Congress MLA from Addanki Gottipati Ravikumar. As a matter of fact, Karnam Balaram’s followers and Ravi Kumar traded blows during a meeting in Ongole. Naidu was in the know of the bitter rivalry between Balaram and Ravikumar but miserably failed to pacify both the warring groups in Prakasam. The rivalry reached to such a level that it adversely impacted the party not only in Addanki and Chirala but also in Giddalur and Kandukur constituencies.

Balaram started his political career with the Congress Party when Indira Gandhi fielded him from Addanki in the 1978 elections after he had saved her from an attack in Ongole. .

Balaram joins the list of deflections from TDP to YSRCP ahead of civic body elections. Recently, former minister and two-time MLA Dokka Manikya Varaprasad Rao resigned from the primary membership of the TDP and joined the YSRCP in the presence of its president and Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy at his camp office.

Dokka’s exit was followed by TDP leader and Kadapa’s strongman Satish Reddy, who challenged the supremacy of Y S Rajasekhara Reddy in Pulivendula, quit the party expressing his displeasure over N Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership. In Prakasam, former MLA Kadiri Babu Rao quit the TDP and met Jagan Mohan Reddy to join his party. Kadiri Babu Rao, a close associate of Nandamuri Balakrishna and a Kapu strongman in Prakasam, was upset with the TDP high command for allotting the Kanigiri ticket he won in 2014 elections to former Congress leader Ugra Narasimha Reddy and shifted him to Darshi in 2019 elections.

Naidu is a sneaky and cunning man, says Vijay Sai Reddy

YSR Congress party general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Vijay Sai Reddy on Thursday morning slammed TDP president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s move to field the party’s general secretary Varla Ramaiah from the SC community for the Rajya Sabha seat saying it was only to insult the Dalit community as Naidu knows the party will lose the election.

“Naidu is a sneaky and cunning man. He knows his candidate will lose the RS seat. This is only to humiliate the candidate,” Vijay Sai Reddy said at the 10th foundation day of YSR Congress Party in Viskhapatnam party office.

While extolling party founder Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and his policies, he said the chief minister was carrying forward the vision and policies of his father and former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy who strove for the empowerment of marginalised sections of the society.

The state government has launched several schemes like Amma Vodi for empowerment of women and Rythu Bharosa for the distressed farmers, but Naidu and his henchmen are hell-bent on creating law and order problem in the state, Vijay Sai Reddy said.

On the Macherla attack on former MLA Bonda Uma and MLC Buddha Venkanna, Vijay Sai Reddy said TDP leaders visited Macherla to create law and order problem in Palanadu ahead of the local body elections.

Vijay Sai Reddy, YSRCP’s key strategist for the forthcoming GVMC elections being held in 98 wards, said the party’s mayor candidate will be announced by YSRCP president and chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy after the polls.

YCP, TDP gear up for civic body polls

Hyderabad: Battle lines are being drawn in Andhra Pradesh as the ruling YCP and opposition Telugu Desam Party slug it out at the municipal elections slated to be held on March 23 as well as zilla parishad territorial constituencies (ZPTCs) and mandal parishad territorial constituencies (MPTCs) to be held in two phases on March 27 and 29. Nominations for the MPTC and ZPTC polls had already begun. The municipal elections will be held in a single phase on March 23 and counting of votes will be taken up on March 27. Elections will not be held in Rajamahendravaram, Nellore and Srikakulam municipal corporations due to pending court cases.

The YCP is seeing the municipal elections as prestigious coming as it does for the first time after witnessing landslide victory in the 2019 Assembly elections. Both the parties have geared up to test their political fate in the local body polls which serve as litmus test for YCP and TDP. For the YCP, the elections will gauge the mood of the people on the performance of Jagan’s party in the last nine-months and also perhaps on the thorny and contentious issue of three capitals announced by the chief minister. However, the YCP received a setback after SEC directed the state government to put on hold its decision to distribute 26 lakh house sites for the poor as it can influence the voters. The YCP also received a blow from the Andhra Pradesh High Court that had quashed a government order granting 59 per cent reservations in local body elections and directed the ruling party to confine to only 50 per cent reservations.

For the TDP, the elections will be a do-or-die battle and puts a question mark on its survival in Andhra Pradesh. The YCP is heavily banking on the ‘Navaratnas’ or the nine welfare schemes including YSR Rythu Bharosa, Fee Reimbursement, Arogyasri, Jalayagnam, Ban on alcohol, YSR Asara, Amma Vodi, YSR Cheyutha, Pedhalandariki Illu and Pensionala Pempu. The YCP leaders think the welfare programmes will help the party sweep the civic polls and expects history to repeat much like the 2019 Assembly elections when the electorate gave the party a thumping mandate.

On its part, the TDP will try to tear into the YCP camp on issues like acquisition of assigned lands for the distribution of house sites and deletion of some names of beneficiaries from ration cards’ list.

The YCP is taking no chances and conducting a flash survey to zero in on winning horses. The key criteria for selecting candidates for the Greater Vishakapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), the YCP announced, will be winnability and loyalty. The YCP unleashed an exercise for selection of the candidates, a panel comprising MLAs and Assembly constituency coordinators had been set up for the same.

YSR Congress seeks probe into Naidu’s ‘links’ with Yes Bank

Andhra Pradesh’s ruling YSR Congress Party on Monday demanded a probe by the central investigation agencies into the link between Yes Bank and former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

The YSRCP alleged that Naidu seems to have used the bank for his ‘hawala’ transactions.

Information and Public Relations and Transport Minister Perni Venkataramaiah claimed that Rs 1,300 crores of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) deposited in Yes Bank is only the tip of the iceberg of Naidu’s “shady deals”. He demanded a probe by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and other agencies.

Alleging that Yes Bank founder Rana Kapoor swindled crores of rupees of public money, the YSRCP leader said TTD funds were deposited in Yes Bank against the norms at the instance of the then Chief Minister Naidu and the Centre should order thorough inquiry into the whole affair.

The TTD clarified last week that it withdrew Rs 1,300 crore from Yes Bank in October last year as the deposit had reached maturity.

The minister alleged Naidu had used Yes Bank to transfer all the money he had accumulated over the past five years, out of the country. Noting that Naidu had conducted a global Summit at New Delhi in collaboration with the Yes Bank, he also alleged that lakhs of rupees were wasted to prepare a Tourism Mission Document.

All the dumps recovered by the Income Tax Department and the Enforcement Department over the past seven months can be traced to Chandrababu Naidu’s house, he claimed and alleged that the recent investigations conducted by the ED into the ‘hawala’ racket by a big Mumbai construction company could also be traced to his house.

“We are requesting the Centre not to stop the investigation with Rana Kapoor but also include all those who were involved in Hawala transactions with Yes Bank. We also seek the arrest of Naidu who was involved in money-laundering.”

Naidu had looted crores of rupees in the name of construction of houses to the poor by establishing Township Infrastructure Development Corporation (TIDCO) and illegally entrusting house construction contracts to it, he alleged.

TDP corners Jagan on 59.85 quota for BCs

0

Once again, the Jaganmohan Reddy government’s commitment to its 59.85 BC reservations under test. The High Court has rejected the GO regarding these reservations saying that they are in violation of Supreme Court order for reservations not crossing 50 per cent. Now, the TDP has challenged Jagan Circar to go to file a special leave petition in the Supreme Court. In 2013, the then Kirankumar Reddy government did the same and got an interim order in favour of 60.55 per cent quota for BC people. Accordingly, local body polls were conducted in 2013 duly giving 60.55 per cent reservations.

Obviously, Jagan quota of 59.85 per cent is less than Kirankumar quota of 60.55. But why is that YCP Ministers are talking about the High Court order now? Instead, Minister Botsa Satyanarayana has blamed Chandrababu Naidu for creating hurdles for 59.85 per cent reservations. Botsa has accused the TDP of provoking some people to file cases against the reservations issue.

Now that there is a precedent, will Jagan Circar file a special leave petition in Supreme Court? The YCP wants to attract BCs who are traditionally a stronghold of TDP. If that is the case, analysts say that Jagan would have no choice politically but to implement 59.85 per cent quota somehow.

IYR comment provokes YCP on pensions

0

The YCP government took up a massive drive to deliver Rs 1,384 Cr worth pensions at the doorsteps of 59 lakh poor beneficiaries all over the state today. The distribution was taken up though it is a Sunday. Volunteers began delivering the Cash through biometrics verification since morning. About 65 per cent money was handed over by 10 am itself.

As the ruling YCP is claiming good response, Ex Chief Secretary and BJP leader IYR Krishna Rao made sarcastic comments on the exercise. IYR questioned the relevance of door delivery when the pension money can be transferred straight into the bank accounts of the respective beneficiaries. These days, bank branches are everywhere in rural areas also. In just seconds, the money can be deposited in the accounts. YCP social media activists quickly hit back asking IYR how to help true pensioners whose money is being directly taken away by their family members. IYR avoider an immediate retort but simply suggested that better alternatives need to be explored.

YCP protest rally in Amaravati Capital villages

0

Amaravati farmers got agitated further following a surprise protest rally taken out by YCP followers in their villages. YCP activists held this rally in protest against the recent alleged attack by TDP on the ruling party MP Nandigram Suresh. The YCP rally passed through the venues of Amaravati dharna camps in Capital villages of Mandadam, Velagapudi, etc.

Tensions prevailed because of the YCP rally. They raised ‘Jai Jagan’ slogans ad they passed in front of Amaravati protest camps. Capital farmers raised counter slogans ‘Jai Amaravati’. The police arrived in large numbers and kept a close watch on the agitating farmers.

Expressing sadness, Amaravati farmers asked how YCP can hold such provocative protests when not a single Minister came to solve their problems. CM Jaganmohan Reddy regularly passes through their villages but he is not caring to stop at their protest camps to enquire about their problems. Farmers asserted that they would continue their agitation till Capital shifting is cancelled.

Shoot me: Naidu tells Vizag police

0

After a day-long confrontation, the police forced TDP boss Chandrababu Naidu to leave Vizag and go to Hyderabad. The police told Naidu to cancel his Praja Chaitanya Yatra as it would create law and order problems in the North Coastal Andhra region. From the airport itself, Naidu was forced to board a flight for Hyderabad.

Earlier, Naidu turned emotional when the police obstructed him. He dared the Vizag police to shoot him or encounter him. The officials and TDP leaders were stunned at Naidu’s anger. YCP continued harassment has caused Naidu’s emotional outburst.

On its part, the ruling YCP is very serious about preventing Naidu campaign in Vizag and Vizianagaram districts. Already, there are protests from assignment land owners, peethadhipathis, real estate developers and others against land encroachments. TDP says that CM Jaganmohan Reddy is literally scared of facing the people’s opposition on the issue of YCP land scams in Vizag and Bheemili areas.

Naidu arrested and Vizag Yatra blocked

0

The YCP government did the unexpected by blocking the Praja Chaitanya Yatra of TDP boss Chandrababu Naidu. The Vizag police finally arrested Naidu after long hours of confrontation. Since his arrival at Vizag airport, YCP followers obstructed his yatra and hurled eggs and tomatoes at Naidu’s convoy.

YCP activists sat and laid flat in front of Naidu convoy. The police just remained silent spectators to all this. The TDP leaders immediately began efforts to move house motion to get Naidu released. Police gave notices to Naidu under section 151 of the CrPC. This section is used by an officer to prevent a person from committing a cognizable offence.

Lot of criticism came up against the police not controlling YCP activists. TDP said that the Police acted like YCP activists. How can a former CM and Z plus protectee be harassed and arrested like this? TDP leaders said that Naidu arrest was a foretaste of Pulivendula goondaism that would crush Vizag in future.

Couple attempt suicide against YCP land acquisition

0

The YCP Government is facing a variety of protests from villagers during the ongoing land acquisition for house sites distribution programme. The revenue authorities were stunned after a couple’s bid to commit suicide created tensions at Mattagunta village in Krishna district. The MRO and police went there to level the one and half acres fish tank owned by the couple.

The officials have proposed to distribute this fish tank land as house sites as part of the YCP government programme. The couple have been objecting to this since the beginning. But, today the officials arrived there with men to level the land. However, the couple brought pesticide with them and threatened to commit suicide in the fish tank.

In most villages, such protests are continuing all over the state. Jagan Reddy government is acquiring the assignment lands given to the poor people to distribute them as house sites. The poor families are protesting at many places. But, the government is going ahead and promising to give good compensation to them.

Jagan sends Vijayasai, Kallam, DGP on a ‘secret visit’ to Vizag!

0

Despite stiff opposition from various quarters against shifting of AP executive capital from Amaravathi to Vizag and despite several cases pending in the High Court against shifting of AP capital from Amaravathi, the AP Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy is going ahead with the capital shifting plans.

He has deputed his most trusted lieutenants to Vizag ‘secretly’ to identify suitable buildings for shifting AP Secretariat, Chief Minister’s Office, commissionerates and directorates of various key departments.

Accordingly, Jagan’s right hand and Rajya Sabha member Vijayasai Reddy made a secret visit to Vizag on Monday.

He was accompanied by Jagan’s chief advisor Ajeya Kallam, DGP Gautam Sawang, CM’s principal secretary Praveen Prakash, CM’s additional secretary Dhanunjaya Reddy.

However, no one was informed about their visit.

Neither YSRCP leaders not state government officials were aware of their visit.

They were completely kept in the dark though they visited various places in Vizag secretly.

Their arrival in Vizag was also kept a top secret. In fact, Jagan himself ‘dropped’ them in Vizag while leaving for Vijayanagaram on Monday to launch “Jagananna Vidya Deevena scheme’.

Jagan left from Amaravathi to Vijayanagaram via Vizag by a special flight.

Vijayasai Reddy and other top officials in AP government boarded the special flight at Amaravathi along with Jagan.

But Jagan dropped all of them at Vizag airport and left to Vijayanagaram alone. Jagan gave a task to identify suitable buildings and locations to shift executive capital from Amaravathi to Vizag.

Official sources said Jagan wants to start functioning from Vizag in a month or so, come what may and he wants to expedite the shifting process.

BC politics dominate TDP-YCP blame game

0

The Vigilance report against former minister Atchannaidu has raised political temperatures in AP. The TDP has begun accusing CM Jaganmohan Reddy of harassing the backward classes leaders deliberately to end their political existence in the state. The BC twist in TDP campaign has caused concern among many sections in North Coastal Andhra. This has given a big embarrassment to the ruling YCP.

Now, the Jagan Reddy Circar began reverse attack on the TDP. Minister P. Anil Kumar Yadav, who is also a BC, is attacking the TDP leaders for their previous attacks on him. Anil is asking why TDP is talking about BC angle with regard to Atchannaidu issue when it has not spared him in the past.

But, Anil Kumar has no answer to the TDP’s allegation that Jagan Reddy is terminating the AP Legislative Council only because it has got greater representation of BC MLCs. TDP says that politically, the BCs are not falling into the trap of YCP leaders which is why Jagan Reddy is targetting the BCs.
