Internal revolt in Jagan Reddy rule exposed its 1-yr failures: TDP

0

Former Finance Minister and senior TDP leader Yanamala Ramakrishnudu has launched a tirade against the Jaganmohan Reddy Government, saying that the ruling party MLAs’ comments were enough to say how much unpopular the Chief Minister became in just one year of his rule.

He said the internal revolt within the ruling party exposed the misdeeds and failures of Jagan Reddy regime in all sectors. Unable to face the people directly, the CM is trying to divert the public attention with the help of recorded videos.

Mr. Ramakrishnudu, in a statement here, said the YCP MLAs were openly revolting against Jagan Reddy only after sensing the rising tide of anti-Government feelings among the people. The TDP has already expressed concerns over total corruption and absence of any development in the past one year. Ruling party MLAs were also saying the same thing against their own Government. Under this rule, development is nil but corruption is full.

The TDP leader said that the CM was making futile efforts to suppress rival criticism with the help of some party leaders who were not able to counter effectively on corruption allegations. What Jagan has brought in Andhra Pradesh was not a welfare state but a mafia rule. The CM was presiding a rule by rampant corruption. It is a kleptocracy in which the rulers exploit both the people and all natural resources of the state to extend their personal wealth and political power.

Stating that the CM was not able to digest criticism, Mr. Ramakrishnudu said there were ample proofs of how the mafia has got total control of the sand, land, soil, liquor and mines in the state. The people are very unhappy about this mafia regime which has triggered open defiance by the ruling party MLAs against their own party leadership.

The TDP leader warned of serious consequences if the YCP leaders continued to harass and torment the people with their land grabs and related mafia deals. He said the YCP would meet with the same fate as that of Karna whose chariot got sunk into the land that led to defeat of the Kauravas in the Kurukshetra war. Even Minister Botsa Satyanarayana admitted to irregularities taking place in some places. While the Minister was saying the mistakes would be corrected but there was no such clarification from the Chief Minister till now.

The Opposition Leader in Council said that while the crops were getting destroyed due to locust swarms, the overall state was being devastated due to YCP attacks. Agriculture, industries and services sectors collapsed like never before in Andhra Pradesh. In just one year, they brought untold disrepute to the Telugu society as a whole.

Mr. Ramakrishnudu deplored that Jagan Reddy was neither ready to admit to his mistakes nor was he willing to correct them. While YCP leaders were becoming fat with corruption money, the poor families suffered heavily during Coronavirus lockdown. BCs and MBCs were the worst affected with their professions having totally collapsed. The Government has not made minimum efforts to help weavers, toddy tappers, fishermen, yadavas, nayi brahmins, rajakas and others. Their sub plan funds were diverted and no special package has been announced for the poor families.

The former Minister said the YCP alone would get the credit for carrying out corruption even in Coronavirus related issues while Kerala and other states made sincere efforts to protect their people. YCP leaders freely violated lockdown and illegally transported sand, gravel, soil and liquor. Scams took place in COVID kits, face masks and also bleaching powder.

10 YCP MPs unhappy with CM Jagan, looking towards BJP: RK

1

For obvious reasons, AP Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy is facing lots of dissidence and revolt from his own MLAs and MPs just one year of his rule. NTR faced a similar kind of problems in the first year of his rule in 1983. NTR’s story was different as he was politically innocent in many respects and did not know the significance of Assembly rules and conventions. Though NTR lost power within one year, popular support could bring him back immediately. Contrary to that, Jaganmohan Reddy’s regime became unpopular both within and outside his party for unchecked, ubiquitous corruption everywhere.

What more, CM Jagan has unveiled a new route to loot people’s money through his party leaders in sand and liquor. MPs and MLAs of YCP are complaining about this. There is an increasing dissatisfaction against Jagan within his party now. But, Ministers and MLAs are not able to speak out strongly. Jagan has put fear in them by saying that he would change 90 per cent of Ministers after the first two years of his rule. Whereas, the YCP MPs are totally unhappy and are openly voicing their concerns. In his latest Kothapaluku column, ABN Radha Krishna says nearly 10 YCP MPs are considering actively to shift their loyalties to the BJP if they are given tickets. It is because they are certain of TDP and BJP alliance in next elections.

RK further says if Jagan Reddy loses power for any reason like NTR, it would not be possible for him to recover given the rising dissatisfaction levels from both within his party and outside and also from all sections of AP people.

Now, YSRCP leaders cry for transparency in sale of sand

0

The new sand policy adopted by Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has kicked up a storm. Under the new policy, the Jagan sarkar took over all aspects of sand mining, including its supply, with the AP Mineral Development Corporation as the nodal agency. Former chief minister and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu often made a scathing attack on the ruling YSRCP saying it had created artificial sand scarcity during the last five months, which had adversely affected the livelihood of those who relied on the construction sector.

Sand supply has become a source of concern for YSRCP leaders too. The YSRCP leaders seem to be mighty displeased over Jagan’s sand policy and coming out in the open to criticise the same. Vinukonda YSRCP MLA Bolla Brahma Naidu dropped a bombshell on the ruling dispensation saying the sand mafia is operating rampantly in Andhra Pradesh and he is finding to get even a handful of sand in his own constituency Vinukonda which is close to the Krishna River. Another YSRCP MLA Kileru Rosaiah bemoaned that the sand was not reaching stock points, while Kothapet YSRCP legislator Jaggi Reddy slammed the APMDC saying it had miserably failed to supply sand to everyone. Further, he said the APMDC has failed to take steps to ensure transparency in sales and transportation of sand.

Panchayat raj, mines and geology minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy assured 70 lakh tonne sand would be stored at the stock points in the rainy season. The minister also said the state government had given powers to the joint collectors to review the sand supplies and stocks with the officials in their respective districts. However, some players are making bulk bookings from the AP Mineral Development Corporation and reselling the sand in the market illegally. Jaggi Reddy found fault with the online sale of sand. He said the moment one attempts to book sand through online, the sales seem to be over in five minutes. “How is this possible? There should be transparency in the sale and supply of sand,” Jagga Reddy said.

The YSRCP leaders seem to have raised genuine concerns over the sale of sand, something that Naidu always pointed out. The Jagan government had cancelled the free sand policy in the state, a move to encourage the sand mafia which has left lakhs of construction workers with no work. “Sand scarcity in Andhra Pradesh was created by a sand mafia which was active with the full support of Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.“The man-made scarcity of sand has brought the construction activity in the state to a halt. Lokesh said several workers committed suicide as they were not finding the work in the absence of construction activity,” Naidu had often stated.

Our social media activists are warriors, we will protect them: Vijaysai Reddy

0

Calling the YSRCP’s social media activists as warriors and soldiers, the party’s Rajya Sabha MP Vijaysai Reddy said the state government will go out of its way to defend them.

The High Court had recently issued contempt notices against the so-called social media activists for making unsavory remarks against the judiciary. The YSRCP MP declared that he is the in-charge of the social media wing of the YSRCP. Vijaysai Reddy instead of asking his party leaders and the YSRCP social media activists to exercise restraint especially when the contempt case is still in the court, he said those who have received the notices are accused and innocent until proven guilty.

Vijaysai Reddy instead of asking his party leaders to honour courts and the judiciary, he said the party leadership will be in the forefront to defend the party’s soldiers. “They have received notices only. They are accused only and should be considered as innocent until they are convicted till that time we will protect them come what may,” Vijaysai Reddy. The remarks clearly show that the YSRCP government is keen on taking the judiciary head on despite growing criticism from all quarters that the courts and the constitutional bodies were being undermined.

Call it ignorance or utter disregard for the judiciary, the YSRCP leaders have been openly critical of the court verdicts and attributing motives to the judges which amounts to contempt.

Recently, taking suo motu notice of disparaging comments made against the judiciary, the Andhra Pradesh High Court had served notices on 94 people, including Bapatla MP Nandigam Suresh, former Chirala MLA Amanchi Krishna Moham, Gudivada Amarnath, senior journalists Kommeneni Srinivasa Rao and Prasad Reddy. At a press briefing, the Bapatla MP attributed motives to the court stating that TDP president and former chief minister Chandrababu Naidu was managing even courts. “Chandrababu Naidu seems to know the High Court verdict 10 minutes in advance.

Chandrababu’s call list should be examined to verify if he is involved in the judgement process.” These are not just highly objectionable remarks, but amount to contempt of court. YSRCP leader and former Chirala MLA Amanchi Krishna Mohan found fault with the High Court directive to the CBI to probe the police highhandedness against Dr Sudhakar Rao. “It’s a petty case. For every petty case, a CBI investigation should not be ordered. The High Court ordering CBI probe has surprised everyone in the state,” he had said.

With Vijaysai Reddy’s assurance of full protection from the government, one can expect a heightened criticism against the judiciary.

Palasa MLA Appalaraju makes contempt remarks, questions HC verdicts

The series of contempt notices issued by the Andhra Pradesh High Court seems to have failed to drive any sense into YSRCP leaders.

The High Court had issued contempt notices to YSRCP MP Nandigam Suresh, former Chirala MLA Aamanchi Krishna Mohan, Gudivada Amaranth and senior journalists for making disparaging remarks that lower the image of the judiciary and dignity of the judges. Despite the contempt notices, YSRCP leaders continue to undermine the judiciary, democratic institutions and constitutional bodies.

On Monday, Palasa MLA Seediri Appalaraju is the latest one to join the list of YSRCP leaders who made statements that lower the image of judiciary.

The Palasa YSRCP MLA said the High Court should not interfere with the state’s governance. “The Oppoistion parties are hindering the governance by litigating the decisions taken by the government by moving the courts. However, we will not honour the court verdicts that are intended hamper the welfare schemes and polices of the government. We will not agree with the court verdicts. If this continues, a time will come when even the people will dishonour the verdicts and also cast aspersions on the judiciary. When this happens, the courts will have to give notices to four crore people and not just to 44 people,” he said in a utter contempt of courts. He further said the courts and the Opposition were making attempts to hinder the government’s move to fulfill its promises made in the party’s manifesto.

“The courts are entering into the decisions taken by the Executive. Scrapping the government’s decision to implement English medium instruction in government schools, distribution of lands to the poor, shifting of certain government buildings are being blocked by the courts. In some cases, the courts have taken suo motu cognizance, in others they have entertained petitions just by the edited videos submitted by the Opposition parties. How can the courts pass judgments based on the edited videos sent by the Opposition parties. When the government had submitted the petitions with full evidence, they were set aside by the courts. What were the courts doing when 23 of our MLAs were bought off,” he questioned.

The disparaging remarks against the judiciary did not stop here. He said the courts have to pass judgments that are in the larger interests of the people and not what people want. “What is the public interest in Nimmagada Ramesh Kumar. What is the interests of TDP to continue Ramesh Kumar as SEC? What is the connection between TDP and Ramesh Kumar? Since the High Court had not specified the time to reinstate Ramesh Kumar, we will move the Supreme Court,” he fumed.
On Sunday, Supreme Court judge Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul said there was a growing intolerance against the judiciary. He said imputations were being made against judges for their decisions. “Criticism is also information but boundaries need to be made or if such criticism becomes part of misinformation… This is not good for the system… If you mistrust every system, then you do not have a system and all you have is anarchy,” Justice Kaul observed.

High Court giving judgements based on edited videos: YCP MLA

0

The ruling YCP leaders are increasingly impatient and rebellious against the High Court orders. They are taking serious objection to notices issued to ruling party leaders and Sakshi media journalist in SEC issue. The YCP leaders are obviously not bothering about the court’s notices. Now, YCP Palasa MLA Dr. Seediri Appala Raju has passed serious comments on the court. He said that the courts should not interfere with the administration and should not create hurdles for Navaratnalu implementation.

Appala Raju strongly objected to the court giving notices to 44 persons for their social media comments against its orders. The MLA asked whether the High Court would give notices to all the 4 crore people of Andhra Pradesh. He deplored that the court was giving its judgements and orders based on the edited video copies being provided by the opposition leaders.

The YCP MLA further advised the courts not to consider the cases filed by Opposition. Only to prevent ruling party from its manifesto promises, the Opposition leaders would create some litigations but the courts should not act on this. The courts should not create obstacles for people-friendly programmes and policies. Appala Raju told the court that they would not agree with its judgements and in future, even the common public would not support the orders being by the courts.

Balineni indicates AP will move SC over HC verdict on Nimmagadda

3

The Andhra Pradesh government seems to be in a defiant mode. In sheer display of couldn’t-care-less attitude, YSRCP Energy minister Balineni Srinivas Reddy on Friday indicated that the state government was mulling to move the Supreme Court challenging the High Court’s verdict to reinstate Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar as State Election Commissioner.

While stating that the government respects the High Court verdict, Balineni Srinivas Reddy remarked that the government will evaluate the legal options indicating that the government is likely to challenge the HC’s decision in SC. The Andhra Pradesh government has made it a habit to undermine democratic institutions and had been showing utter disregard to the High Court verdicts. When the High Court directed the state government to remove YSRCP party colours on government buildings and panchayat offices, the Jagan government circumvented the court’s directive by adding an extra colour (Earth) and gave a new meaning to the party’s three colours. Chief Secretary and other top government officials had to appear before the High Court after recieving contempt notices in the colours issue. When the High Court struck down the GO 81 and 85 to make English the compulsory medium of instruction in all government schools.

In complete defiance of the High Court verdict which had scrapped the GO of the state government to make English medium compulsory in schools, Minister of Education Dr Adimulapu Suresh said the Jagan government was committed in implementing compulsory education in English medium of instruction in all government schools. Stating that the court verdict should not be seen either as victory or defeat, “Our leader Jagan is a man of his word, he won’t go back on his word,” he had remarked in a display of sheer arrogance.

The one year Jagan’s rule has undermined the democratic institutions and subverted parliamentary democracy by his authoritarian rule. Jagan and his team has had to cut a sorry face in more than 60 legal disputes, which is a record set by any state government in losing court cases. The state government’s ordinance to remove Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar as State Election Commissioner is a grim pointer to how Jagan and his team have tried to destroy constitutional bodies like the State Election Commission. Further, the High Court had revoked the suspension orders against senior police officer A B Venkateswara Rao and directed the Jagan government to reinstate him. All these court verdicts and the immediate reaction from the state government implies Jagan and his team lack respect for courts. In most cases, the government exhibited its defiant mode.

Explosive confession: Rampant Christian conversions in AP, admits YSRCP MP Raju Ramakrishna

It is official now. There is rampant Christian religious conversions in Andhra Pradesh. No, this is not an accusation by the BJP leaders. In an explosive admission on Times Now News Hour debate on auctioning of temple assets by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), YSRCP MP Raju Ramakrishna confessed that Christian missionaries in Andhra Pradesh are pumping in large sums of money to carry out widespread religious conversions in the state.

Christian missionaries are getting forieng funding to carry out mass conversions in India, he said. This is a very big confession made by the YSRCP MP.
While admitting that large-scale conversion are happening in Andhra Pradesh, the YSRCP MP defended that the phenemenon was not unique to Andhra Pradesh and that widespread conversions are happening across the country.

Participating in a debate on May 25 on the proposed auction of temple properties by the TTD, Raju Ramakrishna said, “It is been there even earlier. It is being projected now. While I agree to the fact that conversions are happening in a big way, but our government is not at all invovled in conversions. Conversions are not only happening in Andhra Pradesh, it is happening across India. It is the money power of the Christian missionaries. Through the money power and money pumped from abroad the Christian missionaries are carrying out large scale conversions. It is happening througout the country, what are we supposed to do. India is a secular country as per our constitution. I am not getting into the nitty-gritty if the conversions are through inducements by way of money or through preachings, but conversions are happening. The government is not supporting.”

The use of money or any kind of inducement or allurement for conversions is illegal and criminal. Uttrakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhatisgarh, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh had made special laws to ban conversions by force, fraud, marriage or allurement. To a question ‘where in Andhra Pradesh the conversions are happening’ and ‘what is the action taken by the YSRCP government against it’, the YSRCP MP said, “Silently some people are going into colonies in the dead of night and undertaking preachings and converting people. Some people are going to villages. Preaching is happening. They say if you convert into Chrsitianty good will happen. This is how they are doing it. I do not know if conversions are happening through inducements by way of money or through preaching, but they are happening.

When the anchor said this is shocking and surprising, the YSRCP MP said, “There is nothing to get surprised. Don’t be surprised. These are naked truths and you should not be surprised. Our CM is not involved in it.

Padmasree awardee, former Infosys director and current chairman of Manipal Global Education Mohandas Pai, who was the other panelist on Times Hour News Hour debate, said while Chrisitan conversions are happening across the country, it was rampant in Andhra Pradesh. Without referring to anyone in particular, Mohandas Pai pointed out that a close member of Jagan’s family is a big evagelist. Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and his family hailing from Kadapa district of Rayalaseema are followers of Christianity for generations.Jagan’s brother-in-law Brother Anil Kumar is a known evagelist and frequents coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh to carry out Christian activities.

In the past, several videos went viral on social media showing evangelical activities being carried out in village/ward secretariat buildings inaugurated by the YSRCP government.

There is no reliable data on Christian population in Andhra Pradesh. As per 2011 Census, Andhra Pradesh has seven lakh Christians, constituting about 1.4 per cent of the total population. However, the numbers could be higher in the state. Experts believe that those who have recently converted were asked not to reveal their new faith in order ensure that conversions can proceed in a clandestine manner. Further, there is also a fear that the converts could lose reservation privileges
The YSRCP MP’s explosive confession comes a day after BJP president Kanna Laxminarayana pointed out that ever since YSRCP under Jagan Mohan Reddy rode to power in Andhra Pradesh, evangelists are converting Hindus into Christianity with renewed vigour. He alleged that ever since Jagan Mohan Reddy has become the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, he has opened the treasury of the state to the Christian community, with an eye on encouraging conversion activities.

Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar took to his Twitter handle to take on both the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments. He said the Jagan government was trying to turn Andhra Pradesh into the fiefdom of Christianity while the KCR government was turning Telangana into Muslim kingdom.

BJP Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy recently took to his Twitter handle to vent his anger against auctioning of temple assets. Subramanian Swamy in his tweet alleged that the AP CM wants to make Andhra Pradesh into a Christian state. “If a Christian CM can be responsive to Hindus’ vociferous demand on Tirupati land auction but a Hindu CM takes over all the temples in the State and appoints himself as Chairman, has Hindutva gone off the rails,” Subramanian Swamy.

Lockdown norms ‘violated’, YSRCP seeks Chandrababu’s quarantine

1

Alleged violation of lockdown rules by former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu while returning from Hyderabad after more than two months, sparked a row with the leaders of ruling YSR Congress Party demanding that he be sent to quarantine.

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president, who was ‘stranded’ in Hyderabad since the lockdown began in March, reached his residence in Amaravati by road on Monday to a warm welcome by the party leaders and workers.

Earlier at Vijayawada, the leader of the opposition stopped his convoy to wave at a large number of party activists and followers who jostled to greet him.

YSRCP leaders alleged that Naidu violated the lockdown norms as social distancing was not maintained and the people who greeted him were not even wearing masks. Some went to the extent of demanding that he be sent to quarantine for 14 days.

“Since he came from a red zone area and crossed over from another state, he should be quarantined,” said YSRCP leader G. Srikant Reddy.

A YSRCP leader from Kadapa sought action against Naidu for deliberately violating Covid-19 lockdown rules and also Epidemic Diseases Act and Communicable Diseases, Prevention and Control Act, 1988.

In a letter to Director General of Police Gautam Sawang, the ruling party leader said Naidu’s followers gathered around his convoy without maintaining physical distance and without wearing masks.

The leaders of the ruling party and the main opposition have been indulging in political slugfest over Naidu’s stay in Hyderabad. YSRCP leaders had taunted him for maintaining ‘social distancing’ by staying 300 km away from the state. They also slammed him for what they call playing politics over the pandemic by addressing press conferences over zoom app from his residence in Hyderabad.

YSRCP leader Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said nobody had stopped the TDP chief from returning to the state but he preferred to remain in Hyderabad and when he finally returned he violated all lockdown norms.

There was also a row before Naidu’s return to Amaravati. It was on May 24 that the DGP had permitted him to return to the state.

The TDP had even announced that Naidu would leave for Visakhapatnam on May 25 to console the families of the 12 people who died due to gas leak from LG Polymers on May 7. The party announced that he will leave for Vizag by a flight from Hyderabad at 10 a.m.

However, he could not go to Visakhapatnam as the flight was cancelled following the decision by Andhra Pradesh government to allow resumption of domestic flight services from May 26.

TDP leader K. Atchan Naidu alleged that the flight resumption was deliberately postponed by the Jagan Mohan government to stop the TDP chief from visiting Visakhapatnam. “The government did this under a conspiracy to prevent him from going to Vizag,” he said and claimed that Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri’s tweet that the resumption of flights from Vizag and Vijayawada was postponed at the request of the state government was a proof of the conspiracy.

YSRCP leaders wondered how the government can be blamed if the flight to Vizag was cancelled. “He could have gone to Vizag by road instead of coming to Amaravati,” said Ramakrishna Reddy.

TDP’s senior leader and former minister Devineni Uma claimed that Chandrababu Naidu honoured all lockdown norms to seek permission to visit Visakhapatnam to call on the people affected by gas leak. “Why is the government afraid of his visit,” he asked.

The former minister said Chandrababu Naidu would soon visit Vizag to meet gas victims. “Whenever he goes to Vizag, it is bound to create tremors for YSR Congress Party leaders,” he added.

Double shock to TDP, Sambasiva Rao and Satya Prasad set to join YSRCP

The opposition Telugu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh got a double shock on Tuesday with two MLA set to quit the party.

Sambashiva Rao, who represents the Paruchuri Assembly segment, reportedly held consultations with YSRCP Energy minister Balineni Srinivas Reddy and Rajya Sabha MP Vijaysai Reddy. Another TDP MLA from Repalle Assembly constituency, Angani Satya Prasad, also held meetings with the YSRCP leaders to join the ruling party. The two MLAs are set to meet Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy at the latter’s camp office on Tuesday evening to discuss a host of issues, including developmental works in their constituencies.

Sambashiva Rao and Anagani Satya Prasad would not immediately join the ruling YSR Congress to avoid disqualification but is seeking a safe way out like another TDP legislator Vallabhaneni Vamsi who got recognised as an ‘unattached’ member in the Assembly. The TDP has accused the Chief Minister of employing arm-twisting tactics to force its legislators to defect to YSRCP.

Sambashiva Rao and Satya Prasad are two MLAs from TDP who are on Jagan’s target, according to sources. The two MLAs are under severe pressure from the YSRCP leadership to join the ruling party.

On paper, the TDPs strength in the Assembly would still remain 23 in the 173-member House but practically it would be now two short of that number. If the two MLAs join the YSRCP, there is every possibilty that the TDP could lose its Opposition status in the Assembly. Vallabhenini Vamsi managed to get recognised as an unattached member with a separate seat allotment in the House. Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy had set a condition that any legislator seeking to defect to the YSRCP should first resign from their elected post. When Vallabhaneni Vamsi, representing Gannavaram in Krishna district, met Jagan Mohan Reddy and expressed his intent to join the YSRCP, the TDP had expelled him. Speaker Tammineni Sitaram allowed Vallabhenini Vamsi to continue as a member of the House, unattached to the TDP, since he hasn’t technically ‘defected’. It did not admit Vallabhenini Vamsi into the party but its just a formality.
It remains to be seen if the two MLAs will join the YSRCP. If that happens, the TDP’s Opposition status will hang in balance.

People feeling cheated by YCP frauds in sand, cement, lands, wine and mines: TDP

1

Telugu Desam Party Spokesperson K. Pattabhi Ram on Monday made a scathing criticism of the ruling YCP policies, saying that the Jaganmohan Reddy Government has no moral right to celebrate any festival for having ditched all sections of people by spoiling their opportunities and expectations in just one year of its rule.

He said that Jagan Reddy came to power making countless promises but now the AP voters were left feeling cheated for having supported the YCP and for throwing their own future into permanent uncertainty.

Addressing a press conference at the party Central Office here, the TDP leader asked the Chief Minister to name one accomplishment or one success story for which his Government or the people of Andhra Pradesh can feel proud of. Promising a lot prior to election to the weaker sections, the YCP has committed a series of atrocities on the BC, SC, ST and Minorities after coming to power. Even women and youth of the downtrodden sections were not left.

Thousands of crores funds belonging to their sub plans and welfare corporations were diverted thus denying financial assistance to their communities.

Mr. Pattabhi strongly objected to YCP policy towards BCs, saying that the posts of TTD Chairman, APIIC Chairman and so on were enjoyed by backward classes leaders during TDP regime but later they were given to CM’s own caste persons. Jagan Reddy should bear the blame for reducing BC reservations in local bodies from 34 per cent to 24 per cent. The YCP has crushed all chances of yadavas, fishermen, weavers, nayi brahmins and others who benefitted from Adarana and other schemes during TDP rule.

Stating that the women were the worst hit in the last one year, Mr. Pattabhi said Jagan Reddy owed an explanation for not implementing his election manifesto promise to waive Rs. 25,000 Cr loans for DWCRA women. The Government was boasting of Disha Act non-stop but 38.5 per cent increase in atrocities against women was recorded in past one year. CM has not taken any action against his party Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy who went to residence of woman MPDO Saralamma and subjected her to anguish. She held a dharna in front of the police station but could not justice. Another woman named Padma was humiliated and assaulted in Prakasam district which led to her suicide eventually. Such atrocities continued in Anantapuram, Narasaraopeta, Dachepalli, Ongole, Srikakulam and so on.

Mr. Pattabhi said unforeseen land scams were taking place under Jagan Reddy rule while his Build AP has become Sold AP only to fill the pockets of YCP leaders with ill-gotten money. By perpetrating all sorts of illegalities in liquor policy, CM Jagan now emerged as the single most powerful liquor don literally owning 3,500 wine shops with no competition in the state. About Rs. 400 Cr monthly commissions were being taken from liquor brands which were allowed at the whims and fancies of the ruling party.

The TDP leader deplored that Jagan Reddy Government created a dubious record by getting an increased revenue of Rs. 24,000 Cr during 2019-`20 compared to the previous 2018-`19. Sadly, this revenue increase was recorded because of Rs. 82,291 Cr loans taken by Jagan regime in just one year as against the yearly average of Rs. 25,000 Cr during previous 5-year rule of Chandrababu Naidu.

Our Govt respects Dalits and Courts, says YCP MLA

1

YSR Congress Party MLA Katasani Rambhupal Reddy has hit back at opponents’ comments against the Jagan Reddy Government on the issue of High Court orders in Dalit doctor case. The controversial MLA asked how can the Government be responsible for the mistakes committed by the police officials in Visakhapatnam. The YCP always respects the courts and the dalits. Our Government duly implements the orders of the courts. The rivals are only launching a misinformation campaign.

This is almost the first time a ruling party leader has tried to cover up the Dalit doctor assault drama so openly. Till now, the YCP leaders have been in an attacking and aggressive tone. They have forced some police officials to say indirectly that the High Court orders on CBI case would also be contested in the Supreme Court. They were arguing that there would be no validity to the statement taken by the Visakhapatnam magistrate from a doctor who was certified as mentally unsound.

Amid this, MLA Rambhupal Reddy has come out with a different line saying that the Government has no role in the Dalit doctor incident. Is this going to be the official line of the party from now on? It is not yet known what would be the next strategy of the Government. But analysts say that, just like in the case of colours, the government may also drag the Dr Sudhakar case to Supreme Court regardless of its future consequences.

Contempt proceedings against Jagan govt over party colours on govt buildings?

1

The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Friday ordered contempt proceedings against the state government for violating its directive to remove the party colours on the government buildings and panchayat offices.

The contempt proceedings come in the wake of the Jagan government issuing GO 623 which cleverly tried to circumvent the HC’s directive to remove the YSRCP colours on the government buildings. Suspending the GO 623, the High Court had directed the state government to remove the party colours on government buildings and panchyat offices. Instead of removing the party colours on the government buildings, the Jagan sarkar had added one more colour – Terracotta (mud colour signifying earth) to the existing three colours. In the said GO, the YSRCP ruling gave a new meaning to the colours. The government argued that Green symbolizes green revolution (agriculture), Blue colour for blue revolution (water resources and acqua wealth), White colour for white revolution (milk and milk products).

Hearing a petition filed by advocate Somayajulu challenging the GO 623 on Friday, the High Court observed that the state government was trying to undermine the court’s directive by trying to circumvent its order by adding one more colour to the existing three colours and therefore amounted to contempt of court. The High Court reportedly issued contempt notices against Chief Secretary Nilam Sawhney and Principal Secretary (Panchayat Raj) Gopalakrishna Dwivedi. The High Court directed the AG to file a counter affidavit by May 28.

Earlier, a petition filed by Muppa Venkateswara Rao challenging the state government move to paint the government buildings with party colours and pleaded the the High Court to direct the state government to remove the colours as it could influence voters during the civic body elections.

Last month, the High Court had noted that the manner in which entire the issue is being dealt with by the state government compels the court to think and observe that the state government was not removing the colours associated with the ruling YSRCP, from the walls of panchayat offices and other government buildings with an eye on the elections to civic bodies. The advocate general sought three months time and informed the High Court that the colours can be removed only once the lockdown is completely lifted and that the government will inform the court time needed to remove the party colours in the next hearing. Refusing to give three months time, the HC pulled up the government for dragging its feet on the issue. “We will give three months time with a condition that the state government will not hold elections till that time,” the High Court observed.

AP waives power bills for Crorepatis but not common man: TDP

1

The Jagan Reddy Government has prominently released Front Page advertisements (half page) in the media today. In this, it announced Rs. 1,100-Cr ‘ReSTART’ package for the MSME industries in the state. The Government grandly announced that to strengthen these companies, it has released Rs. 904.80 Cr industrial incentives including pending Rs. 827.5 Cr of previous regime.

Along with that, the Government also announced waiver of power bills for these industries for three months. The TDP immediately responded, asking how the YCP regime can dare to protect Crorepatis companies while ignoring the financial difficulties of common people and poor families. Former Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao deplored that crores of rupees were spent on media advertisements but no effort was being made to rescue the consumers. Rs. 187.80 Cr power bills were waived for industries while power bills were increased for the public. The Government turned a deaf ear to Opposition demand for waiving bills for 1.35 lakh ordinary consumers in view of Coronavirus effect.

The Government said that it waived fixed electricity charges against contracted maximum demand for MSMEs for 3 months from April 2020 to June 2020. This would put a burden of Rs. 187.80 Cr on the state. Also, working capital loans would be provided from Rs. 2 to Rs. 10 lakh at 6 to 8 per cent interest. For this, Rs. 200 Cr fund is being created. Now, the TDP is demanding similar financial support to the poor people and lower income groups to help them tide over Covid crisis.

TDP demands white paper on demolitions and betrayals: YCP One Year Rule

1

Opposition Leader in AP Council and former Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu on Thursday strongly objected to the YSRCP celebrating completion of its one year rule in a big way though there were no achievements to its credit to deserve such celebrations.

He said that while the people were suffering on all fronts, the YCP leaders have begun celebrating for apparently spreading Coronavirus during lockdown, for cancelling popular programmes like Anna Canteens and for not keeping its Navaratnalu promises.

In a statement here, Mr. Ramakrishnudu demanded that the YCP Government publish a white paper on the revenue and expenditure on welfare programmes since it was claiming to have fulfilled 90 per cent promises in its manifesto. Comparative figures on state finances and per capita income for 2018-`19 and 2019-`20 should be given. YCP should give clarify how much was spent on infrastructure, Navaratnalu and each welfare programme.

He deplored that YCP one year rule was marked by demolitions, atrocities, betrayals and cancellations. Instead of preventing Coronavirus, YCP leaders took out rallies, flower showerings, public meetings and door to door campaigns which only triggered further virus spread.

The TDP leader said that without any achievements to its credit so far, the Jagan Reddy Government was celebrating ‘Varotsavalu’ from May 23 and its one year rule festival from May 30. Was this a time for holding celebrations? After causing problems like opening liquor shops in virus lockdown, the YCP was celebrating in a fascist manner. Ammavadi was denied to 40 lakh people and another 40 lakh farmers were not given Rythu Bharosa.

Mr. Ramakrishnudu said that BC, SC, ST and Muslim minorities were betrayed while mangroves were felled in seacoast and YCP looted Rs. 400 Cr in ‘Aava’ lands. He asked whether the one year was being celebrated for putting Rs. 80,000 Cr loans burden on the state. Untold harm was done to AP because of stalling of Amaravati Capital City and Polavaram lifeline project. The Government should tell facts on unproductive expenditure and misuse of thousands of crores of public money. The YCP should clarify on what assets it had created in the last one year.

Expressing concern over YCP policies, Mr. Ramakrishnudu said that the one year rule began with demolition of Praja Vedika and the destruction spree continued nonstop. In the name of Judicial Capital, Kurnool was plunged into Coronavirus crisis. Visakhapatnam people were lured with Administrative Capital but they were harmed with toxic vapours that put thousands of people in danger. Even irregularities were freely committed in virus preventive measures as well. Corruption was rampant in kits, masks, bleaching power, sand mining, lands and everywhere.

Mr. Ramakrishnudu said that instead of holding celebrations, YCP should do brainstorming on Jagan Reddy’s demolitions and the unchecked looting that went on and also on land grabings and false cases against opposition parties and general public. Bus charges were collected from even migrant workers without considering their plight.

Jagan Govt discriminating against Dalits in everything: TDP

1

TDP leaders are up in arms against the YSRCP Government on the issue of ex gratia being announced for deaths in accidents. Opposition is asking how CM Jagan personally announced Rs 1 Cr compensation for each death in Visakhapatnam gas mishap while not giving similar support to victims families in Prakasam district tractor accident. Only Rs 5 Lakh was announced initially but it was later increased to Rs 10 lakh following criticism. Is Jagan Reddy discriminating against dalit families of nine persons dead in tractor accident?

Now, former minister K.S. Jawahar has raised many issues and expressed concern over the YSR Congress Party Government acquiring lands of leather parks without any consideration to support the livelihoods of leather workers in the state. He demanded that the Government immediately withdraw its efforts to snatch away over 752.90 acres of lands given to leather parks by Leather Industries Development Corporation of AP (LIDCAP) all over the state.

The TDP leaders deplored that from day one, it has been a single point agenda for the YSRCP Government to take back the assignment and inam lands in order to make dalits landless poor once again. Now, the leather parks’ lands are being targetted. Already, 35 acres out of total 75 acres land of leather park at Adigoppula in Durgi mandal was being snatched away in the name of distribution of house sites.

Mr. Jawahar asked dalit leaders in ruling party to give explanation for all this and they should clarify why the Government has failed to give skill training to dalit workers for the sake of their permanent livelihoods. By spoiling leather parks and by taking away assignment lands, the ruling party leaders were attacking self-respect of dalits as a whole. Leather workers JAC leader Nageswara Rao has appealed for protection of leather parks but no action is being taken in this regard.

The former minister deplored that on the Kakinada coast, even the creeks were being filled with soil and mangroves were being destroyed in the name of giving house sites to poor families. The Government should stop such anti-dalit activities and make concerted efforts to provide skill training and livelihood opportunities for leather workers. The TDP would not keep quiet and it would launch an agitation to stop any further destruction of dalits’ opportunities by YSRCP.

Financial misappropriation rampant under YSRCP, says Devineni

0

Former Minister and TDP senior leader Devineni Umamaheswara Rao has accused the Jaganmohan Reddy Government of committing gross irregularities in payment of bills and funds expenditure while totally neglecting deepening problems of farmers, poor people, workers and different sections of Andhra Pradesh. While TDP implemented Comprehensive Financial Management System (CFMS) for transparency in payment of Government bills, the YSRCP has discontinued this system only to continue its gross financial mismanagement secretly.

The TDP leader demanded that the Government immediately revive CFMS and place the facts before the public on how it had spent nearly Rs. 70,000 Cr loans it had brought in the past 11 months. The Finance Minister was not able to give details for expenditure of Rs. 1.7 lakh Cr. When asked, the Minister was evading a direct reply, saying such questions on AP financial issues should be posed to the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG). The AP treasury had Rs. 13,000 Cr right now besides another Rs. 20,000 Cr transferred by the Centre during the Coronavirus lockdown period, but no adequate steps were being taken to provide relief to farmers and workers. Top officials were not knowing what was happening to the State finances. Only one Satyaranarayana in the finance department was just releasing bills at the commands of a handful of Ministers.

The former water resources minister alleged that 20 lorry loads of unknown material were shifted from Amaravati and unloaded in the premises of a college belonging to an former minister’s son-in-law in Visakhapatnam. This was in accordance with the auspicious time fixed by one port city Swamiji for shifting Capital in the last week of May or first week of June. Simultaneously, prime Government lands in Visakhapatnam ocean front hills were being grabbed through benamis in the name of Build AP.

Stop sale of Govt properties under ‘Build AP’: TDP

2

TDP former Minister Nakka Ananda Babu has strongly objected to the YSR Congress Party Government’s move to sell state lands in the name of ‘Build AP’ programme without having any concrete plans for bringing in development. How this Government could sell lands at a time when the Coronavirus epidemic lockdowns have caused financial distress everywhere and real estate values have touched rock bottom with no transactions taking place anywhere?

The Telugu Desam Party leader said that a prime piece of land belonging to the labour department in Guntur city was allotted for construction a new division of the Government General Hospital there during the previous TDP regime. But now, the same land was put up for sale by YSRCP without any consideration for rising health needs of the people. The Jaganmohan Reddy Government is hatching a conspiracy to loot prime Government lands under Build AP and already some lands were being soled in Visakhapatnam and Guntur. The ruling party leaders’ game plan was obviously to take over ownership of these prime lands in the names of their benamis. From Volunteers to MLAs and Ministers, all YSRCP leaders were now busy looting Andhra Pradesh in every way possible.

The TDP leader said that the ruling party leaders have been making huge money by plundering sand, liquor, soil and mines, and they were now bent on snatching away prime properties of the Government all over. In villages, local residents were being terrified by YSRCP miscreants who were looting sand by shifting hundreds of lorry loads everyday and threatening locals if they try to confront them. The ruling party was committing all this corruption in the name of welfare but so far even the Navaratnalu promises were not fulfilled to the people.

YSRCP Govt creating new problems out of inefficiency, says Chandrababu

1

Former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has accused the Jaganmohan Reddy Government of politically harassing all Opposition leaders and even victims of Visakhapatnam gas disaster instead of fulfilling its responsibility to solve their problems. The TDP chief termed it as inhuman on the part of the Government to file a false case against a mother whose only offence was her emotional appeal for the return of her daughter who perished in the toxic fumes. He demanded immediate and unconditional withdrawal of false cases filed against the Opposition leaders and victims of gas tragedy.

Mr. Naidu held a video conference with the party people’s representatives and constituency incharges here when he explained how the ruling party proved its inefficiency by creating new problems instead of solving existing crisis situations. While the poor people were expecting relief in view of their loss of work opportunities and daily earnings, they were being placed under increased burdens. The Government should have focused on saving people from Coronavirus lockdown rather than hiking current charges manifold.

Mr. Chandrababu Naidu asserted that unable to solve people’s problems, the YSRCP leaders were resorting to irrational counter allegations against the rival parties only to escape from their accountability. The Government was playing with the lives of people by crippling them financially on the one side and by pushing them into greater health risks on the other.

The TDP leaders, who took part in the conference, condemned the filing of false cases against a woman and her husband whose daughter died due to poisonous gas. Unfortunately, counter cases were being filed against victims while the company management escaped with minor cases with bailable sections. The Chief Minister acted favourably towards LG Polymers by speaking to its executives in airport lounge, announcing Rs 1 Cr compensation, commending it as a multinational company and offering jobs to victims families. How can the CM offer jobs when the affected residents were demanding closure of the factory?

Referring to the YSRCP criticism, some TDP leaders said that a misinformation campaign was launched to make people believe that earlier TDP Government allotted land for LG Polymers. It was a total lie since the existing company land was allotted to Hindustan Polymers way back in 1964 by the then Kasu Brahmananda Reddy Government through GO 2,177 at that time. Relaxations from urban land ceiling were given in 1992 through GO 1033. The TDP Government acted only at the suggestions of High Court but YSRCP was spreading lies against TDP.

The TDP said that permissions for polystyrene and expandable polystyrene were given only after YSRCP came to power and the same was recommended for Centre’s approvals. However, the ruling party leaders were twisting these facts and spreading rumours that TDP gave those permissions. YSRCP’s bankruptcy was clear how it was linking permission given for plastics production with polystyrene. Unfortunately, Ministers were still talking as if environment was not polluted in villages while scientists were saying that crops were damaged and trees changed colours and their samples were sent to labs for assessing extent of damage. Local people were still complaining of skin burning and respiratory distress but the Ministers were talking as if all have recovered and returning home.

Some TDP leaders pointed out that MP Vijayasai Reddy used to hang around Visakhapatnam interfering with its day to day administration all the time but he went into a hideout not to be seen in port city since gas leak. The Government should clarify whether LG Polymers have any transactions with Bharati Polymers and Nandini Polymers. What are relations between Vijayasai Reddy and LG Polymers Director Ravindranath Reddy? Reports say that LG factory was hurriedly opened despite lockdown only to supply pet bottles for distilleries of YSRCP leaders.

Demanding closure of the polymers factory at Venkatapuram, TDP leaders said its land should be developed into a garden park to restore unpolluted environment there. They further said that complaints were given to the Central team officials on how the official machinery in Guntur district prevented the opposition leaders from making their representation to the team on Coronavirus issues.

The TDP leaders expressed their solidarity to ‘Save Mangrove’ campaign of students in protest against destruction of mangrove forests which were being developed as the first shelter bed along the coast from Srikakulam to Godavari districts since 1996 super cyclone. The mangroves were badly required to prevent coastal erosion. Eucalyptus trees being developed as a second shelter bed in coastal areas should be also be protected.

YSRCP ruling stooped low by employing teachers to regulate liquor queues: Naidu

8

While the entire world is focusing on the steps to prevent the spread of coronavirus, the Andhra Pradesh government was endangering the lives of people of Andhra Pradesh with its flawed polices, commented TDP president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday.

Addressing a press briefing in Hyderabad, Mr Naidu questioned the wisdom of the Jagan government in allowing liquor sales at a time when Andhra Pradesh was witnessing a surge in the number of Covid-19 cases. AP reported 67 new cases on Tuesday taking the tally to 1,717.

Mr Naidu said the government was more worried about losing liquor money, but not concerned about the public health safety. Allowing liquor sale during the ongoing nationwide lockdown has caused unmanageable over-crowding at liquor stores, making social distancing impossible and defeating the very purpose of a lockdown. “Huge crowds completely broke lockdown norms. There was an open violation of social distancing. Has the government lost its sense? On the one hand, the government propagates social distancing norm and on the other it allows people to break the rule. The government’s decision led to utter chaos and confusion. Where was the urgency for the Jagan government to allow liqour sales at a time the corona positive cases in the state are surging every day? People from other states have come to AP to purchase liquor. Why couldn’t the government wait for some more days,” he questioned. Further, he said it was unfortunate that the government had employed school teachers to regulate the long queues outside the wine shops. “This government has stooped low by employing school teachers to regulate the queues outside the wine shops. What message is the government sending? Is this how you respect teachers who shape future generations,” Mr Naidu asked.

On Monday, lakhs of people jostled for alcohol, triggering chaos, police action, and fear of Covid-19 spread as booze shops opened after more than 40 days in green and orange zones.

“Andhra Pradesh is already battling the Covid-19 pandemic. It is now confronted with the deadly alcohol crisis in the midst of surging positive cases of corona virus and deaths due to the pandemic. Liquor sales have triggered acts of violence, spate of suicides and alcohol driven mishaps across the state,” he said. The opening of liquor stores has led to further aggression and violence against women at home, he said while citing an incident in Chittoor’s Palamneru. “A man who heavily consumed liquor thrashed his wife and daughter. Unable to bear the domestic violence, mother and daughter duo committed suicide by hanging themselves.” The incident occurred on Monday when Chokkalingam in a drunken state beat up his wife and daughter who committed suicide unable to bear the humiliation. Mr Naidu also cited several other incidents of violence triggered after consumption of liquor.

The former CM also questioned the government’s decision to hike liquor prices by 75% to mop up Rs 9,000 crore revenues. Mr Naidu said the move causes additional burden on the people who are already affected the lockdown. “People have lost their livelihood due to the lockdown. Now, people will spend their last penny on liquor. The government’s logic of hiking the prices is to discourage people from drinking. Is this how the government intends to discourage people from drinking? The government needs to find more permanent solutions. First, it should drastically reduce the availability of liquor. It should also sensitize people on the ill-effects of alcohol. The government has not done any of these. Instead, the government had sold substandard and cheap liquor endangering the lives of the people,” he said.

The Andhra Pradesh government rather than solving the problems of the farmers and migrant workers was more worried about those into liquor trade, Mr Naidu said while asking if the government was working for welfare of the people of Andhra Pradesh or is it working for profiteering of liquor distillery owners and alcohol sellers. “The government had asked the farmers not to come to market yards to sell produce stating that it would directly procure from their doorstep. What kind of logic is this? You disallow farmers from selling produce in market yards and allow liquor stores from 11 am to 7 pm. Further, the state government said will procure the entire produce of the farmers, but their produce has remained unsold at most places in the state,” he said while pointing out that several farmers had to end their lives as they incurred loss since they could not sell their produce due to the lockdown curbs.
