Rahul Gandhi-Amit Shah faceoff in Telangana on this September 17

0

September 17 will see a big face-off this time. Yes. The two second-in-command leaders in the two biggest parties in the country will be in Telangana. BJP’s biggest leader after Narendra Modi and union Home Minister Amit Shah and Congress Party’s past and future president Rahul Gandhi would be in Telangana on September 17. This will be a unique face-off for Telangana.

September 17 is an important date for the BJP as it is the Hyderabad Liberation Day from the yoke of Nizam and the Razakars. It is also the birth anniversary of BJP’s biggest icon Sardar Patel. More importantly, it is the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Amit Shah will join Bandi Sanjay’s Yatra and will address a massive public meeting in Kamareddy. Later, he would proceed to Nirmal, where he would address another meeting atop Nirmal fort. The location is important because it was here in 1857 that over a thousand freedom fighters were hanged from a banyan tree. The occasion, the location, the speaker and the yatra confirm the BJP’s ideological agenda.

Congress senior leader Rahul Gandhi too will visit Telangana on September 17. He would speak at a public meeting organised to mark the conclusion of the Dalit and Girijan conferences that the TPCC has been organising. The Congress is trying to gather around 5 lakh people for the occasion. The Congress is planning to launch its Mission 2023 on the occasion. The Congress leaders are already busy with the preparations for Rahul’s visit. This will be Rahul’s first visit to the state after October 2018. He is also likely to review the party’s organisation work and the visit is primarily intended to establish Revanth Reddy’s authority in the state Congress affairs.

So, expect a lot of political action on September 17 this time. The target of both the national parties would no doubt be the ruling TRS in Telangana. Let’s see how the TRS deflects the two-pronged attack.

Amit Shah to visit Telangana on Sep 17 to address Liberation Day event

0

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Telangana on September 17 to attend a public meeting in Nirmal district to coincide with the Telangana Liberation Day.

BJP leader and party MP from Adilabad, Soyam Bapu Rao, said on Tuesday that Shah will address the meeting at Veyi Udala Marri. The saffron party is making elaborate arrangements for the public meeting.

State BJP president Bandi Sanjay will pause his ongoing ‘padyatra’ for a day to attend the public meeting.

The meeting is also being seen as part of BJP’s campaign for ensuing elections to the Huzurabad Assembly seat.

The BJP has long been demanding that the government should officially celebrate Telangana Liberation Day.

Governments in undivided Andhra Pradesh and the TRS government after the formation of Telangana in 2014, however, had turned down the demand on the ground that this could lead to communal trouble.

On September 17, 1948, the then Hyderabad state was merged with the Indian Union following India’s military action ‘Operation Polo’, popularly known as ‘police action’.

Every year, BJP workers try to hoist the national flag at government offices and public places to press for their demand for officially celebrating the day. The BJP has alleged that the ruling party is scared of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM).

The public meeting to be addressed by Shah will be held at Veyi Udala Marri. It is said that Nizam’s ‘Razakars’ (volunteers) had allegedly killed 1,000 people fighting against Nizam’s government near a banyan tree at Udala Marri. The place later came to be known as Veyi Udala Marri.

KCR urges Amit Shah to raise Telangana’s IPS cadre strength

0

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday and urged him to clear the plans to raise the state’s IPS cadre strength to 195.

The Chief Minister, who called on Shah at the latter’s residence here, is on a five-day visit to the national capital.

In its request to the Central government, Telangana has sought to increase senior duty posts from 76 to 105. The earlier IPS cadre review for Telangana was done by the Ministry of Home Affairs in 2016 when a total of 76 senior duty posts and resultant 139 total authorised posts were approved for the state.

While this translates into a 40 per cent increase in cadre strength as opposed to the 5 per cent increase that is usually allowed, the state government is pitching for the increased numbers in view of the reorganisation of its districts, from 10 previously to 33 now.

This also means that the state now has 20 police districts and 9 police commissionerates against 9 police districts and 2 police commissionerates that existed previously.

“The allocation will help the posting of IPS officers as commissioners/superintendents of police/zonal DIGs/multi-zonal IGPs in various territorial units. At present, these territorial units have no sanctioned cadre posts,” KCR said in his representation submitted to the Prime Minister as well as the Home Minister.

“At present, these territorial units have no sanctioned cadre posts,” he stated.

During the course of the meeting that lasted around 45 minutes, the Chief Minister also briefed the Home Minister on the state’s requirements in the Naxal-affected areas of Telangana.

Amit Shah worships at Srisailam temple

1

Union Home Minister Amit Shah along with his family members worshipped at Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy temple at Srisailam in Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool district on Thursday.

Amit Shah with his wife Sonal Shah reached Hyderabad by an aircraft and from there flew to Sundipenta in a helicopter. They then reached Srisailam by road and had darshan at Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy temple atop the Nallamala Hills.

Modi-Shah’s tit-for-tat against YS Jagan for stalling Lok Sabha?

1

Is the BJP using the same weapon on its best buddy YS Jagan Mohan Reddy that it has used against its arch rival Mamta Banerjee? It appears so. The BJP is using the strategy that it has employed against Mamta Banerjee on the YSRCP government too. Significantly, this is coming barely days after the YSRCP MPs have stalled both houses of Parliament to cause trouble to the ruling BJP.

It appears the BJP has not taken kindly to YSRCP’s belligerence. The National SC Commission has taken cognisance of a complaint filed by the National SC, ST Hakkula Sangham, an RSS body, and has ordered an inquiry into the allegations of mass conversion in Andhra Pradesh. It wanted State government’s chief secretary Adityanath Das to submit a detailed report within 15 days. Given the unlimited powers of the National SC Commission, this is being viewed as an attempt by the BJP at the Centre to tighten the noose around the YS Jagan government.

Interestingly, though the complaint has been filed long back, the National SC Commission has acted only now. Under Article 338 of the Indian Constitution, the Commission has special powers. It can issue orders to the Chief Secretary of any state and the CS is bound to comply. The BJP has used the National SC Commission to tame Mamta Banerjee. Her anti-BJP actions such as post-poll attacks on the BJP workers have drastically come down ever since the Article 338 was invoked and the SC and ST Commission have sent notices to the Chief Secretary.

The BJP affiliated organisations are planning to give AP Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy a torrid time on the issue of mass conversion and the payment of Rs 5000 towards ex-gratia for the pastors in the state. The SC Hakkula Sangham is an unknown organisation, but it has links to the RSS. In the past, it has filed a complaint against IPS officer RS Praveen Kumar and forced him to apologise. It has also managed to cancel Gospel meetings in Parade Grounds which were to be graced by no less a person than KTR himself. Now the same weapon is being employed to target YS Jagan. Is this the BJP’s tit-for-tat against Jagan for daring to raise its voice in Parliament?

Jagan’s meeting with Amit Shah raises political heat!

0

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy seems to be desperate to meet Union home minister Amit Shah as early as possible.

Jagan tried for his appointment on Monday last but it did not work.

With this, Jagan had cancelled his Delhi trip on Monday.

According to YSRCP sources, Jagan has decided to meet Amit Shah on Thursday (tomorrow).

They say Amit Shah has confirmed his appointment to meet Jagan and for this reason Jagan is rushing to Delhi tomorrow.

Jagan’s meeting with Amit Shah has fuelled speculations that he wants to seek Amit Shah’s help to come to his rescue in bail cancellation case filed against him by YSRCP rebel MP Raghurama Krishnam Raju in the CBI Court, Hyderabad.

The case is pending in the court and expected to come up for hearing next week.

However, YSRCP sources are claiming that Jagan is meeting Amit Shah to seek his help for setting up three capitals for AP at the earliest.

Besides, Jagan wants to seek funds for AP and also the resolution of long pending bifurcation issues.

They say Jagan is also trying to meet union jal shakti minister Shekhawat, defense minister Rajnath Singh etc to take up various issues concerning AP but Opposition parties are spreading rumours that Jagan is meeting them for his bail purpose.

Jagan going to Delhi to meet Shah on Monday?

1

The political heat is rising in the Telugu States amid reports that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy is going to Delhi the day after tomorrow. This time, he is expected to take up the issues relating to the Coronavirus pandemic and the requirements of the AP people.

During the coming visit, Mr. Jagan Reddy is expected to meet with Union Home Minister Amit Shah as well. Only a few days ago, the AP CM sent letters to the Chief Ministers of other States on the need for united efforts for making the Centre take responsibility for vaccination.

Moreover, there are many political developments that have taken place in the last few days. After going to Delhi, rebel MP Raghurama Raju has been going round in wheelchair showing his injuries received in the alleged custodial torture by the AP CID police. Soon, Mr. Raju is going to meet with Amit Shah and then PM Modi as well.

At the same time, the bail cancellation case filed by the rebel MP is going on in the CBI court. Amid these developments, the AP CM’s Delhi visit is generating a lot of political curiosity in the Telugu States.

Why Pawan demanded Amit Shah tour in Tirupati?

Eventually, Jana Senani Pawan Kalyan has agreed to take part in the election campaign for the BJP nominee Ratna Prabha in the Tirupati bypoll. In a few days from now, he is likely to begin his campaign. But, there are no reports on the steps taken by the BJP to fulfil Pawan’s demand. He has asked for involving Amit Shah, Yogi Adityanath and such top BJP leaders in the campaign.

On its part, the BJP has not finalised its schedule for Amit Shah or Yogi visits yet. There are no star campaigners among the BJP AP leaders. Pawan seems to be the lead campaigner on behalf of their alliance now. Following this, the Jana Sena leaders are eagerly awaiting the BJP’s next strategy to involve their party national leaders.

The big problem before Pawan Kalyan right now is the question whether the BJP candidate will get a deposit or not. Going by the 2019 general election, the BJP has got less than 1 percent vote share in AP. Even the Congress, which has performed slightly better than the BJP, has lost deposits.

The BJP national leaders are also conscious of the fact their party position is not so rosy in Tirupati. Amit Shah or Yogi may not take active part in electioneering if the party does not pick up in the initial stages of electioneering. Now, greater responsibility falls on the shoulders of Senani to boost the Tirupati campaign. Obviously, it would be Pawan who would have to take the blame if the BJP lost deposit and if he remained the sole star campaigner.

Finally, YCP MPs to meet Amit Shah over Visakha Steel

1

All round criticism has forced Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy to finally send his party MPs to meet Union Minister Amit Shah on the issue of Visakha Steel Plant privatisation. Till now, the CM has not opened his mouth to convey his views to the public. Vijay Sai Reddy’s initial remarks have gone into the public that the YCP is not much interested in the agitation. Later, reports came out that Jagan Reddy held talks with Posco in 2019 itself.

As a result, there has been rising criticism against the YCP 28 MPs in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha for not making any efforts in Delhi to save the steel plant. As such, all these ruling party MPs are going to meet Amit Shah to discuss the issue today.

On the other hand, TDP Gajuwaka Ex MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao began his indefinite hunger strike. The steel plant falls under the Gajuwaka segment. Also, Vizag North MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao is going to start his own protest camp near the steel plant from today.

Retired civil servants like Lok Satta Jayaprakash Narayan and JD Lakshminarayana have stressed the need for strong agitation to get a better deal for AP. On its part, the TDP is saying that the privatisation should be stopped altogether since the steel plant has been a matter of strong sentiment for the Andhra people.
Jana Senani Pawan Kalyan has already the Union Ministers and expressed his views against the privatisation. The BJP AP leaders have also opposed the sale but are not able to actively join the protests. Obviously, the agitation is unstoppable.

TDP MPs submit complaints against Jagan govt to Shah

2

A team of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday and submitted a slew of complaints ranging from alleged offences against democratic institutions, capital trifurcation, corruption and others on Andhra Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

“Attack on media, attack on courts, attack on judges, attack on the Opposition. We told all these. Attack on election commissioner. These are all democratic institutions,” said TDP MP Jayadev Galla after submitting the complaints to the Home Minister.

Since coming to power, Galla said the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) has been allegedly violating the Constitution and is hell bent on destroying the four pillars of democracy, legislature, executive, judiciary and the media.

“We have briefed him (Amit Shah) and submitted a representation on the deteriorating law and order, increasing attacks on religious places, harassment of victims and opposition party leaders by filing illegal cases, rampant corruption and involvement of YSRCP in various scams in the state,” the MP said.

He said Shah listened to them patiently, and asked for clarifications, and assured them that he would look into the alleged cases listed in the representation for appropriate action.

The TDP team also apprised Shah on the alleged temple attacks and highlighted about the 7-year-old video of pastor Praveen Chakravarthy.

The MPs told the Home Minister that the three capitals plan is allegedly a design to destroy Amaravati which they called a national asset.

The TDP team claimed that corruption is widely prevalent in the state in the form of alleged illegal mining and the sale of sand, allocations favouring a company in which the chief minister’s wife holds shares and others.

The Opposition leaders claimed the Andhra Pradesh government failed in administration and continuity of governance, including allegedly losing investors’ confidence.

“The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh till the month of September, 2020 was accused in more than 30 cases. About 11 cases are registered by the CBI. He is also accused in six cases lodged by the ED. Currently, the CM is on conditional bail,” the MPs mentioned in a note submitted to Shah.

In this alleged background, the Parliamentarians appealed to the Central government to intervene and restore Constitution functioning and its machinery in the southern state.

“Further, it is also vital to conduct an enquiry into various irregularities being carried out by the state government in order to plunder public money. Your timely intervention would instill confidence,” the MPs claimed in their plaint to Shah.

Amit Shah congratulates Bandi Sanjay

1

Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar for the victory in the Assembly byelections in Dubbaka.

Amit Shah dialed Bandi Sanjay Kumar to convey his congratulatory message. He expressed joy and conveyed his heartfelt greetings to Bandi Sanjay Kumar on behalf of lakhs of BJP workers across the state. Shah said that the tireless efforts of BJP leaders and workers to strengthen the party in Telangana are yielding results.

BJP candidate M Raghunandan Rao defeated TRS candidate Ramalinga Reddy’s wife Solipeta Sujatha by a wafer-thin margin of votes. While Solipeta Sujatha polled 61,302, Raghunandan gave a tough fight by polling 62,772 votes. The BJP pinned high hopes on Raghunandan Rao although he had lost the 2018 Assembly and 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The Congress has fielded Cheruku Srinivas Reddy, the son of late former minister Cheruku Muthyam Reddy, who polled 29,239 votes.

With the Dubbaka bypoll victory, the BJP seems to have made it’s first big has made deep inroads in the state which appeared to be impregnable with K Chandrasekhar Rao being at the helm of affairs.

Amit Shah condemns Arnab Goswami arrest

1

Union Home Minister Amit Shah came out in total defence of Republic TV Editor in Chief Arnab Goswami who was arrested by the Maharashtra police. Amit Shah condemned the arrest and described it as an attack on the media which is the fourth pillar of the Indian democracy.

Amit Shah termed the Maharashtra Government’s action as an assault on the freedom of speech and expression. This was a fundamental right provided for in the Constitution. The Governments have no right to interfere with the freedom of the individuals. It would be nothing but gross misuse of power to target free citizens.

It is well known that Arnab Goswami was caught in the political crossfire between the Shiv Sena, the Congress and the BJP parties at the national level.

Mr. Goswami has been a bitter critic of the Shiv Sena Government in Maharashtra for quite some time. Now, the situation has turned volatile with his arrest. It remains to be seen how the Modi Government at the Centre would react to this in future.

Amit Shah calls Kishan Reddy on Siddipet incident, BJP to complain to EC

1

Minister of state for home Kishan Reddy fired at the ruling TRS in Telangana for searching the houses of the kin of BJP leader Raghunandan Rao without search warrant or without following due diligence.

Stating that the TRS government was misusing the official machinery, Kishan Reddy said he will take up the issue of police high-handedness to the notice of Election Commission and Union government and party central leadership.

He said Union Home Minister Amit Shah had telephoned him to enquire about the arrest of BJP leaders and searches at the residence of Raghunandan’s kin.

He said Raghunandan was targetted and subjected to harassment by the TRS government ever since the party had announced his name as BJP candidate for Dubbaka bypoll.

He termed the arrest of state BJP lesders, including party president Bandi Sanjay
as highly objectionable and that he would take it up with the central Election Commission and election code violation of the TRS government.

He said the TRS party is frustrated at the growing strength and popularity of the BJP in the state. He accused the ruling TRS of misusing the police force to create fear among the BJP ahead of the election campaign for Dubbaka bypoll.

Further, Kishan Reddy said he will personally take part in the poll campaign in Dubbaka. Earlier, Kishan Reddy, who rushed to Siddipet on Monday evening, extended the party’s support to the family of Raghunandan Rao.

On its part, the state BJP has decided to meet the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer on Tuesday to lodge a complaint and register a protest against the police highhandedness.

Trouble began when the police seized Rs 19 lakh cash from the kin Raghunandan Rao, BJP candidate for Dubbaka by-election.

A clash broke out between the police and BJP leaders when the police raided the residence of Raghunandan Rao’s kin and seized the cash in Siddipet. In the ensuing clash, Raghunandan Rao fainted. Minsiter of state for home Kishan Reddy and senior BJP leader Chintala Ramachandra Reddy reached Siddipet and met Raghunandan Rao.

Meanwhile, Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay, former Member of Parliament from Peddapalli, and BJP leader, G. Vivek Venkataswamy, also known as G. Vivekanand and a host of other leaders were arrested in Siddipet.

The police and the BJP leaders clashed in Siddipet when the police personnel tried to stop Bandi Sanjay who received minor injuries.

The seizure of money from the kin of BJP leader assumed significance ahead of the Dubbaka by-election which is slated for November 3.

The bypoll for Dubbaka Assembly constituency was necessitated after sitting TRS MLA Solipeta Ramalinga Reddy’s death due to heart attack.

While TRS has decided to field Reddy’s wife Solipeta Sujatha as its nominee in the bypoll, BJP is fielding Raghunandan Rao who lost twice. Cheruku Srinivas Reddy, son of former minister Cheruku Mutyam Reddy, is the Congress candidate for the bypoll.

AP BJP stepping up pressure on Modi – Shah

The BJP AP leaders are no longer willing to give any further extra advantage to CM Jagan Reddy as far as his influence with Modi-Shah is concerned. Especially, in regard to AP CM’s latest effort to meet Amit Shah, the BJP state leaders became extremely careful and used all their influence with party national president JP Nadda. They have explained how their party could get some political advantage in Andhra Pradesh due to mistakes made by YCP in recent months. The party was a leading bitter struggle on the issues of local body elections and removal of the State Election Commissioner. At such a time, the Governor has supported Jagan Reddy move on change of Election Commissioner without consulting the Centre. Besides this, the YSRCP leaders were confidently saying that once Jagan Reddy would meet Amit Shah, the issue of SEC would also be resolved in favour of AP Government.

It is well known the BJP AP leaders have also stood in the forefront of legal fight against YCP in the SEC case. They have filed cases in the High Court after taking permission from JP Nadda and party national leadership. When the party was intensifying its fight in such a ‘do or die’ manner, it was considered wrong for the Governor to straightaway support YCP in removing the SEC. Now, the BJP AP leaders are stated to have successfully convinced their national leadership to bring pressure on the Governor also not to take political decisions without consulting the Centre henceforth. In the same way, Amit Shah and other Union Ministers were asked to give any further appointments to Jagan Reddy only after checking with the party core committee dealing with AP affairs.

Jagan to meet Amit Shah, Vizag gas leak, SEC row on agenda

4

Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy will be meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Tuesday to discuss a host of issues, including the corona virus situation in AP, Vizag gas leak, row over appointment of new State Election Commissioner among others.

Jagan’s vist to New Delhi is first after nearly three months of complete lockdown. The meet assumes significance in the wake of several controversial decisions that the state government has taken in the recent times. It is learnt, that Amit Shah is likely to issues relating to removal of Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar and appointing Kanaga Raju as State Election Commissioner.

Further, Amit Shah is also likely to take up the Jagan governments controversial abolition of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council (APLC), a move initiated to weaken the TDP from effectively stalling any legislation decisions of the State government as the ruling YSRCP has only nine of the 58 seats in the council while the TDP has 28 member.

The Vizag gas leak tragedy that has left at least 13 dead and hundreds of people hospitalised is also likely to figure in the discussions with the Union Home Minister. Jagan is likely to thank the central government for helping the LG Polymers India Pvt Ltd (LGPI) in shifting the Styrene gas from its plant in Visakhapatnam to South Korea. It is a different matter that the Andhra Pradesh High Court had ordered not to allow shifting of LG Polymers assets and machinery, amid reports that the South Korean firm has shifted styrene gas from its premises. The court sought to know who had permitted the company to shift the styrene gas from its storage tanks at the factory in Visakhapatnam to South Korea after the gas leak pending probe.

Amit Shah is likely to discuss the Covid-19 situation in Andhra Pradesh and the measures initiated by the state government to contain the spread of Coronavirus in light of several relaxations that triggered a spurt in the number of cases.

Jagan’s meeting with Amit Shah comes after the Home Minister’s recent call to enquire about the coronavirus situation in Andhra Pradesh which reported 101 fresh cases on Monday taking the tally to 3,272 with 59 deaths so far. Recently, Jagan dashed off a 10-page letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighting the contribution of different sectors to the state and the national economy and sought specific incentives to each of the sub-sectors, mainly the MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises).

Can Shah take action against CM Jagan on local polls?

0

BJP MPs GVL Narasimha Rao, CM Ramesh and TG Venkatesh have complained formally to Union Home Minister Amit Shah about YCP atrocities in AP local body elections. The MPs later told the media that Shah will take action against AP CM Jaganmohan Reddy for his party violence against BJP candidates. Is this just a publicity stunt or a real warning to YCP government?

On the other hand, YCP leaders with active support from the police are attacking and snatching nomination papers from opposition parties. They are not sparing BJP nominees as well. This has stunned the BJP AP leaders who have made strong complaints to the party Central leadership. Now, the pressure on BJP National President JP Nadda and Amit Shah to create confidence in BJP AP cadres. If they keep silent, it goes without saying that the BJP AP cadres will get thoroughly demotivated.

However, there are many doubts whether Shah can really take strong action against Jagan Reddy. Only recently, Modi-Shah received a return gift from Jagan who gave one Rajya Sabha seat to Reliance President Nathwani. It is being seen as a very tricky situation for Shah. Moreover, even the AP High Court is threatening to complain to Amit Shah Office about violations of Rule of Law in AP. Slowly, the burden of controlling Jagan Reddy is falling on Shah’s shoulders.
