Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu is celebrating 50 days of “Sarileru Neekevvaru”, which hit the screens on January 11.

He also thanked his fans for making the film a big success. It has grossed Rs 260 crore till now. “Extremely overwhelmed by the incredible response #SarileruNeekevvaru has received. Thanking all my fans for their invaluable support. Truly a magical moment to cherish,” the star tweeted.
The superstar essayed the role of an army officer in the action-romance film in which he also flaunted his dance moves.
In fact, the full video of “Mind block” song was also unveiled on Saturday much to his fans delight.
The Anil Ravipudi directorial is jointly bankrolled by Anil Sunkara, Dil Raju and Mahesh Babu under their banner AK Entertainments and GMB Entertainment.

Sarileru Neekevvaru has a decent second week as the film has collected a worldwide share of 22.50 cr. This has taken two weeks worldwide total of the film to 121.35 cr. Now the film has entered into All-Time Top five earners of Telugu Cinema as it stands at 5th position. The film is a super hit in the Telugu States as it has done very well collecting a distributor share of 101 cr by the end of two weeks. It has also emerged as the fifth film to collect over 100cr distributor share after Baahubali, Baahubali2, Sye Raa & Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo in the Telugu States. New scenes to be added in Sarileru Neekevvaru
The makers of Sarileru Neekevvaru arranged a special press meet to thank the audience for the super success of the film. Mahesh Babu is currently holidaying in USA and will return back by the end of this month after which one more grand success meet will be celebrated. Director Anil Ravipudi revealed that a one and half minute episode between Mahesh Babu and Rao Ramesh will be added to the film in the third week.
He said that they had to remove the episode due to length issues and now they are adding it as a bonus. Producers Anil Sunkara and Dil Raju attended the press meet. Sarileru Neekevvaru is the biggest hit in the career of Mahesh Babu till date and is raking decent revenues all over.
Shocking remunerations for Vijayashanthi and Tabu
Veteran actresses Vijayashanthi and Tabu returned back to Telugu cinema after more than a decade and both their respective films Sarileru Neekevvaru, Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo released during Sankranthi season. Vijayashanthi who never wanted to return back to films was extremely convinced with Anil Ravipudi’s narration and signed the film. The actress was reportedly paid Rs 3 crores for her comeback. Her performance in the film received top class response.
Tabu is making her comeback to Telugu cinema after a gap of 11 years. After listening to the script, it was Allu Aravind who suggested Tabu for the assignment. It is heard that she was paid more than what she gets for a Hindi film. Tabu too took home a fat pay cheque of Rs 3 crores for her 15 minutes role in the film revealed a source. Though some of them called it a disappointing comeback for Tabu, some of them argue that Tabu’s presence made the film look fresh.
Vijayashanthi and Tabu took home more than the busiest character actors of Telugu cinema charge for a full-length role per film. What a comeback for these beauties.
US box office : Ala.. extends its strong run, SLN slows down
Tollywood biggies Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo and Sarileru Neekevvaru have managed to tide over the dull phase at overseas box office as they took sensational openings last week. By the end of first week, they have collected a combined gross of over $ 4M in North America.
In the second weekend, Ala Vaikunthapurramulo is continuing to dominate the box office by extending it’s strong run. After collecting $ 212K on Friday, the Trivikram directional had another terrific day with close to $ 280K on its second Saturday. The film is all set to enter $ 2.5M club and emerge as Trivikram’s career biggest hit by surpassing A..Aa. Aggressive pre release promotions due to blockbuster audio and promising trailers have given a very good start for Ala Vaikunthapurramlo in overseas. The positive word of mouth and superb reviews have further helped the film to have a dream run. Trade analysts are predicting that the film will enter $ 3M club in its full run. Apart from Baahubali series, only Bharat Ane Nenu and Rangasthalam have grossed more than $ 3M in overseas.
Meanwhile, Mahesh Babu’s Sarileru Neekevvaru has considerably slowed down in the second week after a good first week. On its second Friday, the commercial entertainer collected $ 67K. There is hardly any sign of improvement on second Saturday as it collected close to $ 70K. The film will cross the $ 2M on Sunday and might end up within $ 2.5M in its full run. It may fall short of breakeven status. After Srimanthudu, Mahesh Babu’s next films failed to enter the profit zone in overseas. His previous films Bharat Ane Nenu and Maharshi have ended up with minor losses in overseas. Even though Sarileru Neekevvaru managed to mint strong revenues at domestic box office, the film has surely underperformed in overseas.

Sarileru Neekevvaru has a good first week as the film has collected a worldwide distributor share of 98.60 cr. This is an all-time fifth highest first-week share for a Tollywood film as it has fell behind Saaho. The film has done very good business in the Telugu States, especially in Andhra Pradesh. It is a clean Hit in the Telugu States. It also stands at All-Time Top 3 among first-week shares in the Telugu States. The major concern for the film is its performance in the USA. It is struggling to put good numbers against the other biggie Ala Vaikunthapurramulo which is doing fantastic business there. The film is still a long away from breakeven here.

Two months US Holiday loading for Mahesh
Superstar Mahesh Babu surprised Tollywood film fraternity after he wrapped up his recent offering Sarileru Neekevvaru in a record time of five months. The entire movie unit worked without breaks and they are extremely delighted with the film’s result now. Mahesh Babu who has been working without breaks already revealed that he would be on a break after the release of Sarileru Neekevvaru. Reader Writes : Sarileru Neekevvaru – A low denominator entertainer
The Opening shot of Mahesh babu who plays Army Major Ajay Krishna in Sarileru Neekevvaru is that of him admiringly staring at the National Flag.This is symbolic of the superficiality and banality of this film. Of course the trailer and promotions promise exactly this, a Sankranthi commercial masala film. I don’t mind a formula film tailored to excite Mahesh babu’s fans, I just wish there was more thought and bit more imagination while being fully commercial.
The screenplay chugs along swiftly ticking off all expected tropes starting with a Action episode, comedy sequence an Interval bang etc. Major Ajay stationed in Kashmir is assigned with a mission to rescue children from terrorists. During this operation, his name sake and colleague (Satyadev) is severely injured. Ajay (Mahesh Babu) is sent to help out the family of his injured colleague (Satyadev). Satyadev’s mother Professor Bharthi played by Vijayshanthi is an honest and upright professor who is awaiting her son’s arrival for the marriage of his sister.
Ajay embarks on a train journey and this is an extended comedy episode involving the lead actress Rashmika Mandana, Sangeetha and other ensemble cast. The scenes here resemble the staple material in all Anil Ravipudi films, characters with a defined mannerism repeating dialogues like “Never before Ever After”. Whats disappointing here is, not only are scenes slapstick but the fact the jokes are centered around rape. In a scene during this episode, the heroine accuses the hero of raping her, so that she could force him to marry her. of course this is all done in a light and comedic vein but in these times of Me Too, better judgement should have prevailed and such jokes about rape should have been avoided. This lack of judgement is a fall from grace for the actress Rashmika whose previous film Dear Comrade was exactly about the issue of sexual harassment. Mahesh babu who is a brand ambassador for MARD should have been much more vigilant. The story now shifts to kurnool where professor Bharathi and her family is in deep trouble due to a dangerous and evil local politician played in his typical style by Prakash Raj. You pretty much know what follows next.
what works for the film is, the pacing. Director Anil ravipudi manages to keep it pacy and never bore the audience. How much you would like the film really depends on what your seeking for, if you enjoy familiarity and looking for Mahesh babu to show unbridled energy with full conviction, then you have this in abundance. In the rest of the cast, Vijayshanthi makes a terrific comeback. She is dignified yet compelling in her performance.
Overall Sarileru Neekevvaru is a low denominator entertainer, I did not regretting seeing it nor would i regret missing it.
