Why did Avinash meet Jagan?

0

Kadapa MP, Y S Avinash Reddy, met chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy at the latter’s camp office in Tadepalli on Thursday. The two had discussions for more than an hour.

The MP came down to the state from the monsoon session of the Parliament. Though the details of the meeting are not known yet, it is assumed that the two had discussed Avinash Reddy’s letter to the CBI on the former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy’s murder.

Avinash Reddy had asked the CBI for a fresh investigation into the case and had raised several points which the CBI allegedly missed in its investigation. He also levelled charges against the investigating officers and accused them of siding with Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter Dr Suneetha Reddy.

The CBI had accused Avinash Reddy of conspiracy behind the murder. The CBI in its final charge sheet submitted to the Telangana high court on July 30 named Avinash Reddy as accused 8 in the murder.

The CBI cited political rivalry between Avinash Reddy and Vivekananda Reddy that led to the murder. The CBI tried to arrest Avinash Reddy in the murder but could not do so as he was on anticipatory bail.

In this background, it is assumed that both Jagan Mohan Reddy and Avinash Reddy have discussed the CBI cases and the steps to be taken in the days to come. The YSR Congress leaders are strongly condemning the allegations levelled by the CBI team against Avinash Reddy.

The YSR Congress leaders, including its general secretary and government advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, are now speaking on the issue denying the involvement of the Kadapa MP. They are also countering the CBI’s allegation that chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy was the first to receive the information about Vivekananda Reddy’s murder.

Pattabhi ridicules Avinash’s letter to CBI, dubs it as a drama

0

Making a mockery of the 100-page letter sent by YSRCP MP, Avinash Reddy, to the CBI, TDP spokesman, Kommareddy Pattabhiram, on Monday termed it as a high drama.

Avinash Reddy, who is the accused number 8 in the murder case of Vivekananda Reddy, writing the 100-page letter is nothing but to divert the investigation of the case, Pattabhiram told media persons at the party headquarters here. Shamelessly Avinash is trying to divert the public attention ever after the CBI filed the chargesheet mentioning him as accused 8 and his father, Bhasker Reddy, as accused 7, Pattabhi said.

It is nothing but a conspiracy being hatched to claim that Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, his family members and Avinash have no role in the murder thus making a last-ditch effort to escape from the case from the backdoor, the TDP spokesman felt. “If at all if Avinash has no role in the murder, he should tell the court but not write letters to the CBI,” he added.

It is a known fact that Jagan and Avinash have been paying crores of rupees to the advocates to argue for them before the courts, Pattabhi said. He dared Avinash to answer on his phone chatting with the accused number one, Gangi Reddy, from midnight 1.30 am till 5.18 am on the day the murder took place, which is clearly mentioned in pages 69 and 70 in the CBI chargesheet.

Stating that the ground reality is totally different from what Avinash has mentioned in his letter to the CBI, the TDP spokesman asked whether the midnight chatting with Gangi Reddy is only to give him directions as to how to finish Viveka. The CBI has clearly mentioned in the chargesheet the chatting details between the phone numbers 99890 67352 of Avinash to 94402 81444 of Gangi Reddy, he pointed out.

Why the inspector of police, Sankaraiah, who is suspended from service, is given posting again on October 6, 2021, though Avinash has blamed the inspector in his letter, Pattabhi asked. Also, Sharmila, in her statement to the CBI made amply clear whether Vivekananda Reddy had campaigned in favour of Avinash though in his letter to the CBI Avinash mentioned that Viveka had campaigned for him, he stated.

CBI court summons Avinash Reddy

0

The CBI court in Nampally of Hyderabad had issued summons to Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy in former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy’s murder. The court had asked the MP to attend before the court on August 14.

Avinash is accused 8 in the murder of Vivekananda Reddy. The CBI had framed him in the murder after investigation. The CBI had questioned the MP several times before and after filing the affidavit and the final charge sheet.

The CBI also found evidence that Avinash Reddy was engaged with accused Sunil Yadav in the latter’s house along with Avinash Reddy’s father Bhaskara Reddy on the night Vivekananda Reddy was murdered.

The CBI said that political differences were the reason for the murder as Vivekananda Reddy had opposed Kadapa MP ticket from the YSR Congress to Avinash Reddy. The CBI actually planned to arrest the Kadapa MP but could not do so as he secured anticipatory bail.

There was high drama for a couple of days when the CBI planned to arrest Avinash Reddy in the murder case. Avinash Reddy’s mother fell sick, and he was at the hospital with the mother in Kurnool for two days.

The CBI officials could not enter the hospital as a large number of Avinash Reddy’s followers gathered at the hospital in support of their leader.

The CBI also said in its affidavit that the information about Vivekananda Reddy’s murder was known to Jagan Mohan Reddy much earlier. However, Jagan Mohan Reddy’s advocates have contended the CBI naming their client in the affidavit.

The CBI had already arrested Avinash Reddy’s father Bhaskara Reddy on April 16 and sent to jail.

CBI grills Kadapa MP Avinash Reddy for 7 hrs in Viveka murder case

0

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) questioned Kadapa MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy for seven hours on Saturday in connection with the murder of his uncle and former Andhra Pradesh minister Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy.

Avinash Reddy, recently listed as the eighth accused in the case by the CBI, appeared before the central agency at its regional office in Hyderabad as per the conditions laid down by the Telangana High Court while granting him anticipatory bail.

The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MP, who has been questioned multiple times by the CBI in the case, was once again grilled by the CBI officials.

Avinash Reddy, who is the cousin of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, was arrested by the CBI on June 3 but was immediately released on bail as per the order of Telangana High Court.

The information about Avinash Reddy’s arrest came to light on June 8.

He was arrested when he had appeared before the agency on June 3.

He was released on bail the same day after he completed formalities as per the High Court order.

While granting anticipatory bail on May 31, the Telangana High Court had ruled that in the event of the petitioner’s arrest by the CBI, he shall be released on bail on executing a personal bond of Rs 5 lakh with two sureties for a like sum each.

The judge had directed Avinash Reddy to cooperate with the investigation and appear before the CBI police every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. till the end of June 2023, and regularly, as and when he is required for investigation.

On June 8, the CBI told the special court that it had listed Avinash Reddy as the eighth accused in the case.

The CBI made the disclosure in its counter affidavit filed in the court while opposing the bail petition of Avinash Reddy’s father, Y.S. Bhaskar Reddy.

This is the first time that the CBI has named Avinash Reddy as the accused in the case. Earlier, the central agency had called the MP a witness.

Vivekananda Reddy, brother of former chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and uncle of Jagan Mohan Reddy, was murdered at his residence in Pulivendula on March 15, 2019, weeks before the elections.

The CBI also told the court that Avinash Reddy and his father had a role in causing the disappearance of the evidence. It also claimed that they are trying to influence the witnesses.

Butchaiah Chowdary interacted with the media persons in Rajamahendravaram to thank the people and the party workers for making the two-day Mahanadu a grand success. Telangana HC grants conditional bail to Avinash Reddy

2

The vacation bench of the Telangana high court on Wednesday granted anticipatory bail to Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy in former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy’s murder.

However, the court told the MP to be available for the CBI for questioning on every Saturday between 10 am and 4.15 pm.

The Court also told the MP not to leave the country without prior information to the CBI and without its prior permission.

The court refused to give permission to the CBI for custodial interrogation of the MP in the case.

The CBI had accused Avinash Reddy of conspiring the murder and paying Rs 4 crore to the accused, who executed the murder.

The CBI also alleged that Avinash Reddy’s family had political rivalry with Vivekananda Reddy who opposed giving Kadapa MP ticket from the YSR Congress Party to Avinash Reddy in 2019, leading to the latter’s murder.

The CBI also alleged that Avinash Reddy was on WhatsApp call on the night the murder took place.

Similarly, one of the prime accused, Anil Yadav, was found to be in the house of Avinash Reddy on the same night they killed Vivekananda Reddy.

The CBI produced the Google Take documents to show that the accused was in the house of Avinash Reddy.

The CBI also told the court that investigation by them would not go as desired by Avinash Reddy.

However, Avinash Reddy denied the allegations and alleged that the CBI was trying to fix him in the case to please his political rivals.

Did Jagan meet Shah to save Avinash Reddy?

1

Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday night. The meeting happened at 10 pm and lasted for 45 minutes.

The chief minister’s office had said that the chief minister had requested the Union Home Minister to take special interest in bifurcating the institutions listed in Schedule IX and X of the AP Reorganisation Act 2014. The Union Home Ministry is handling the bifurcation of these institutions and had held three rounds of meetings with the officials of the two Telugu states.

The chief minister’s officials also said that the meeting focused on pending issues with the Central government and the pending issues of bifurcation.

However, the opposition parties say that the meeting was held to save Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy from the CBI cases. The CBI had framed charges against Avinash Reddy in the former minister Vivekananda Reddy murder. The CBI attributed political rivalry behind the murder and had even filed an affidavit in the Telangana high court.

The Telangana high court is hearing the anticipatory bail petition of Avinash Reddy. The vacation bench of the high court had completed hearing the arguments on both sides and had reserved its order for May 31. The court also told the CBI not to arrest Avinash Reddy till it declares the order.

There is wide speculation in the state that the CBI would arrest Avinash Reddy any time after the Telangana high court gives its judgment. The CBI framed charges giving no room for Avinash to escape from the arrest.

The CBI had also told the court that it would not investigate the case as desired by Avinash Reddy and said that the investigation so far had pointed an accusing finger at Avinash Reddy. However, the CBI said that Avinash Reddy was not cooperating with the investigating officers and sought judicial custody of the MP.

It is to be seen if Jagan Mohan Reddy had really requested Amit Shah to save his cousin from the CBI cases or only raised the state issues as claimed by the chief minister’s office.

Avinash bail petition – TS HC reserves judgment

0

The Telangana high court vacation bench on Saturday completed hearing on Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy’s bail petition. The court reserved the judgment and posted it to May 31. The court also directed the CBI not to arrest Avinash Reddy till the judgment is given.

The vacation bench headed by Justice M Lakshman heard the arguments on behalf of Avinash Reddy and Suneetha Reddy on Friday and the arguments of CBI on Saturday. The CBI counsel told the court that Avinash Reddy was not cooperating with them in the investigation.

The counsel also told the court that Avinash Reddy was avoiding interrogation on one reason or the other and wanted custodial interrogation. The counsel further told the court that the CBI had collected evidence to prove that Avinash Reddy with political motive had conspired to kill former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy.

He also told the court that Avinash Reddy joined hands with Yerra Gangi Reddy to kill Vivekananda Reddy. Avinash Reddy also paid Rs 4 crore to Gangi Reddy as part of the conspiracy, the CBI counsel told the court.

When the judge asked the motive behind the murder, the CBI counsel told the court that political rivalry between the family of Avinash Reddy and Vivekananda Reddy was the reason for the murder. He told the court that Vivekananda Reddy opposed giving the Kadapa MP ticket to Avinash Reddy, which ignited the trouble.

He further told the court that CBI would go by the leads it had received during the course of investigation and would not go as desired by Avinash Reddy. The leads available with the CBI as of now point an accusing finger at Avinash Reddy, the CBI counsel said.

CBI seeks custodial interrogation of Avinash Reddy

1

The CBI on Friday filed an additional affidavit in the Telangana high court during arguments on anticipatory bail petition of Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy, who is accused in the former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy murder.

Avinash Reddy’s counsel and Suneetha Reddy’s counsel presented their arguments in the court on Friday. The CBI would present its arguments on Saturday.

The CBI said that Avinash Reddy was not cooperating with them for interrogation. The CBI further said that the MP was not cooperating with them and not even attending the questioning. They wanted the court to give permission to take Avinash Reddy into custody and question him.

The CBI said that it had to complete the investigation by June 30 and it was not possible unless Avinash Reddy cooperated. The CBI said that they have gone to Kurnool to take Avinash Reddy into custody. But due to the presence of a large number of his supporters, they did not touch him anticipating a law and order problem, the CBI told the court.

The CBI further said that Avinash Reddy was on WhatsApp call from 12.27 to 1.10 in the night on the day Vivekananda Reddy was killed. However, it is not known who was on the other side of the WhatsApp call, the CBI said.

The CBI also told the high court that chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy was aware of the murder of Vivekananda Reddy before 6.15 in the morning. However, the CBI said that it was not known through which source Jagan Mohan Reddy received information.

Kadapa MP Avinash Reddy reaches Hyderabad with mother

0

After staying put at a hospital in Kurnool for eight days, Kadapa MP Y. S. Avinash Reddy on Friday moved to Hyderabad with his ailing mother.

With improvement in Y. S. Lakshmi’s condition, she was discharged from Viswbharati Hospital in Kurnool. The MP along with his mother reached Hyderabad. She was admitted to AIG Hospital in the Gachibowli area of Hyderabad.

Earlier, Viswabharati Hospital stated in a health bulletin that her condition was stable and was being discharged. It said there is a need to shift her to a higher centre for elective coronary intervention.

The development comes even as the hearing was on in Telangana High Court on Avinash Reddy’s anticipatory bail petition in the murder case of former Andhra Pradesh minister Y. S. Vivekananda Reddy.

A team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has been tailing Avinash Reddy ever since he skipped appearing before it and reached the private hospital in Kurnool where his mother was undergoing treatment for heart ailment.

Avinash Reddy, who is a cousin of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy, had written to the CBI seeking exemption from appearance time till Saturday (May 27) in view of his mother’s condition.

The MP had not appeared before the CBI on May 16 and May 19 in Hyderabad. On May 16, he cited prior-fixed official engagements in Pulivendula as the reason and sought four days’ time. On May 19, he conveyed to the CBI that he would not be able to appear before it as his mother took ill.

The MP, who was in Hyderabad, left for his home town Pulivendula in Kadapa district and got his mother admitted to Kurnool hospital. Since then, he has been staying at the hospital.

The central agency had issued a fresh notice on May 19, directing him to appear before it at its Hyderabad office on May 22.

However, the MP once again expressed his inability to appear due to his mother’s poor health.

Vivekananda Reddy, brother of former chief minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, uncle of Jagan Mohan Reddy, was murdered at his residence in Pulivendula on March 15, 2019, weeks before the elections.

Last month, the CBI arrested Avinash Reddy’s father Y. S. Bhaskar Reddy, a cousin of Rajasekhara Reddy.

The agency told the court during the hearing on multiple occasions that Bhaskar Reddy, Avinash Reddy and their follower Devireddy Shiva Shankar Reddy hatched a conspiracy to murder Vivekananda Reddy as he had opposed the Kadapa Lok Sabha ticket to Avinash Reddy.

Avinash Reddy has denied the allegations against him and his father and alleged that the CBI ignored several key facts in the case.

Avinash gets one more day relief from Telangana HC

1

Kadapa MP, Y S Aviansh Reddy, gets one more day’s relief from the Telangana high court. The vacation bench of the Telangana high court had adjourned hearing on the anticipatory bail petition to Friday morning.

Justice M Lakshman posted the case for hearing as the advocates from both sides sought more time for arguments. The vacation bench of Justice Lakshman would hear the arguments from 10.30 in the morning.

It may be mentioned here that the Supreme Court had directed the Telangana high court to hear the anticipatory bail petition on May 25. The Supreme Court’s direction came following a petition filed by Avinash Reddy who sought time from the CBI for questioning.

Avinash Reddy wrote to the CBI that he would be available for questioning only on May 27 as his mother is unwell and he had to attend to her. His father Bhaskara Reddy is in judicial custody, and Avinash Reddy is currently attending to her in the hospital at Kurnool.

The CBI had accused Avinash Reddy of conspiracy in the murder of former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy in March 2019. It was alleged that Avinash Reddy had closeted with one of the accused, Anil Yadav, on the night Vivekananda Reddy was murdered.

However, Avinash Reddy had denied his involvement in the murder and alleged that the CBI was serving the interests of the opposition. He also pointed an accusing finger at Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter Dr Narreddy Suneetha Reddy and her husband Narreddy Rajasekhar Reddy. The CBI had questioned the couple too and said that they have no role in the murder.

TDP leaders meet AP Governor, faults Avinash Reddy

0

The opposition TDP leaders met AP Governor Justice S Abdul Nazeer in Raj Bhavan and gave a representation on Kurnool incidents, where Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy’s men allegedly stopped CBI officials.

TDP leaders Varla Ramaiah, Alapati Rajendra Prasad, Gadde Rammohan and Bonda Umamaheswara Rao were part of the delegation that met the Governor.

Later, speaking to the media Varla Ramaiah wondered why Andhra Pradesh police remained mute spectators to the violent gathering of Kadapa MP’s supporters in Kurnool. He said that the MP’s supporters have stopped the CBI officials from arresting the MP.

He said that the CBI had arrested Delhi deputy chief minister Sisodia, and a minister in West Bengal, but was not able to arrest an MP in Andhra Pradesh. He alleged that the AP police were not cooperating with the CBI officials.

The law and order in Kurnool had completely failed as the police were working at the behest of the MP and his unruly supporters, Varla Ramaiah said. He wanted to know why the police have allowed the MP’s supporters to gather in Kurnool town in large numbers without permission.

The TDP leader said that the police were arresting the leaders of opposition parties and the government employees. Cases are being filed against everyone who ever held any protest in the state, the TDP leader said.

Stating that the CBI had failed to take action against the accused, the TDP leaders wanted to know what force was stopping them from arresting the MP. The TDP leaders also asked the CBI to make it clear why they have gone back empty handed without arresting the MP.

Supreme Court directs Avinash bail petition to Telangana high court

0

The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy’s anticipatory bail petition to the vacation bench in Telangana high court. The Supreme Court had directed the vacation court to hear the petition on May 25 and give judgment on the same day if possible.

The Supreme Court bench consisting of Justice J K Maheswari and Justice P S Narasimha heard the case on Tuesday. Avinash Reddy had requested the Supreme Court to grant him anticipatory bail as his mother is unwell and his presence is required.

However, the court directed the MP to approach the vacation bench of the Telangana high court for redressal. The court also heard a petition filed by Avinash Reddy seeking exemption from attending the CBI questioning as his mother is sick.

The Supreme Court told the MP to present the argument before the Vacation Bench of the Telangana high court on May 25. The Supreme Court said that it would not listen to anything on the issue as it had left the decision to the Telangana high court.

Meanwhile, Avinash Reddy, who is accused in former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy murder, is currently in a hospital in Kurnool where his ailing mother was admitted. A large number of his followers from Kadapa and Kurnool have gathered at the hospital anticipating that the CBI might arrest the MP.

The CBI officials too are camping in Kurnool trying to assess the situation and reach the MP to arrest him. There is tension all over the place in Kurnool with the MP’s supporters gathering in large numbers. The CBI officials are coordinating with the local police. Since the Supreme Court had directed the Telangana high court to hear the case on May 25, the CBI may not arrest him till then, the source said.

Supreme Court to hear Avinash Reddy’s bail petition tomorrow

0

The Supreme Court would hear the anticipatory bail petition of Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy on Tuesday. The petition would come up before the bench consisting of Justice J K Maheswari and Justice Pamidigantam Sri Narasimha.

The petition was filed on May 5 by Avinash Reddy seeking anticipatory bail as the CBI officials were trying to arrest him in the murder of former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy in March 2019. The MP alleged that the CBI was targeting him to serve the political interests of the TDP leadership. He also alleged that the CBI’s enquiry was going on the lines of the TDP statements.

However, the CBI officials have brushed aside the MP’s allegations. They have also filed a petition before the court stating that Avinash Reddy and his father Bhaskara Reddy were behind the murder. The CBI also alleged that both the father and the son hatched the plan to eliminate Vivekananda Reddy who reportedly opposed the YSR Congress giving Kadapa MP seat to Avinash Reddy.

Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter Dr Narreddy Suneetha Reddy impleaded in the petition opposing anticipatory bail for Avinash Reddy. The case was heard earlier in the Supreme Court and was posted for May 23.

It is to be seen what steps the supreme court would take when it hears the arguments of the counsel for Dr Suneetha Reddy and the CBI.

The CBI is going all out to arrest Avinash Reddy in the case. Sources say that the CBI had collected enough evidence to prove charges against the MP as a conspirator in the murder.

Tension in Kurnool as CBI sleuths reach to arrest Avinash Reddy

0

Tension prevailed in Kurnool town of Andhra Pradesh on Monday with the CBI officials reaching the town to arrest Kadapa MP, Y S Avinash Reddy, in the former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy’s murder.

The MP did not attend the questioning by the CBI stating the health condition of his mother, who was admitted into a private hospital in Kurnool. The MP wrote a letter to the CBI the other day that he would not be able to attend the questioning as his mother’s health condition is serious.

Following this, the CBI officials reached Kurnool town and enquired about the situation. They also visited the hospital where Avinash Reddy’s mother is being treated. His father, Bhaskara Reddy is serving the judicial remand in the same case.

The CBI officials have also reportedly met Kurnool district SP and reviewed the law-and-order situation in the event of Avinash Reddy being arrested. The CBI officials have also reportedly told the SP to send a message to Avinash Reddy to surrender to them to avoid being arrested.

The CBI officials met the SP for a second time and reportedly asked for additional police forces to be given to them to arrest the MP. The SP had reportedly sought time from the CBI officials as he had to consult the DGP.

Sources say that the CBI officials are weighing the idea of seeking central protection forces to help them in Kurnool, if they have to arrest the MP.

Meanwhile, the MP had written a letter to the CBI seeking time till May 27 to attend the questioning. He told the officials that he has to take care of the health of his mother and would require time to be around his mother.

Avinash Reddy writes to CBI, seeks 10 days time

1

Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy on Sunday wrote to the CBI seeking 10 days time for him to attend their questioning. He cited the health grounds of his mother, who is currently in the hospital.

This was the third request from Avinash Reddy to the CBI seeking more time. He is now a suspect in the former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy murder and the CBI had been questioning him in the case. However, the CBI is yet to respond to this letter.

He was scheduled to attend the CBI questioning in its Koti office in Hyderabad early this week but was deferred once on the grounds that the notice was given in a short time. The second time, he skipped the questioning stating that his mother fell sick, and he had to take her to the hospital.

The CBI had already levelled charges of conspiracy against Avinash Reddy on political grounds. The CBI alleged that Avinash Reddy and his father Bhaskara Reddy did not like Vivekananda Reddy intervening in the party issues and raising objections for Avinash Reddy’s candidature for the Kadapa MP seat in 2019.

The CBI alleged that Vivekananda Reddy wanted to contest the election or wanted either Vijayamma or Sharmila to contest and not Avinash Reddy. This argument of Vivekananda Reddy went against the interests of Avinash Reddy, who along with his father Bhaskara Reddy, hatched the plan to eliminate the former minister.

The CBI also produced documental evidence drawn from the google network to prove that the accused Anil Yadav was with Avinash Reddy on the day Vivekananda Reddy was murdered. Anil Yadav is one of the accused in the case.

Viveka murder case: CBI issues fresh notice to Kadapa MP Avinash Reddy

0

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) issued a fresh notice to Kadapa MP Y. S. Avinash Reddy on Saturday, a day after he skipped interrogation in the murder case of former Andhra Pradesh minister Y. S. Vivekananda Reddy.

The central agency has directed the MP to appear at its regional office in Hyderabad at 11 a.m. on May 22

The MP, who was to appear before the CBI on Friday, had left Hyderabad for his home town of Pulivendula in Andhra Pradesh’s Kadapa district amid high drama.

There were reports that some CBI officials followed his vehicle. Irked over the media vehicles chasing them, some followers of Avinash Reddy had attacked a vehicle of a Telugu news channel.

The lawyers of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MP had informed the CBI that he will be unable to appear before it as his mother had taken ill and he had to rush to Pulivendula. They requested the agency to give another date.

The MP on Friday evening reached Kurnool where his mother was admitted to a private hospital. He remained at the hospital with the mother on Saturday.

This was the second time in a week that Avinash Reddy has skipped the CBI questioning. The MP, who is cousin of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, had not appeared before the central agency on May 16.

Stating that he has pre-scheduled engagements in his parliamentary constituency, he had conveyed to the CBI that he was unable to appear at the short notice.

Avinash Reddy, who was in Hyderabad, had left for Pulivendula.

However, the same day the CBI issued him a fresh notice, directing him to appear at its regional office in Hyderabad at 11 a.m. on May 19.

The Supreme Court on May 17 refused to entertain the plea of Avinash Reddy for an urgent hearing on his petition seeking a direction to Telangana high court to grant him anticipatory bail.

The Kadapa MP, who was already questioned four times by the CBI, had last month approached Telangana High Court for anticipatory bail.

S. Bhaskar Reddy.

The CBI questioned three supporters of Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy at the CBI office in Koti in Hyderabad on Tuesday. Though the CBI is to question Avinash, he did not come to the office stating that he had other engagements.

The CBI questioned Simhadripuram mandal vice-president Srikanth Reddy, Ravindra Reddy and Naga Visweswara Reddy from Vemula mandal in the YSR district. The CBI summoned all the three leaders of the YSR Congress, who are closely associated with the MP.

Sources say that the CBI had questioned the three people and collected information from them on the day of former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy’s murder. The officials are checking the facts with the statement of the Kadapa MP with the statements of his supporters.

Meanwhile, the CBI went to the house of Avinash Reddy in Hyderabad and served a notice to him asking him to come for questioning on May 19. As the MP wrote back to them stating that he is unable to attend the questioning on Tuesday, the CBI asked the MP to attend the questioning on May 19.

The officials also visited Avinash Reddy’s house in Pulivendula. The officials have reportedly calculated the time that would take for anyone to reach Vivekananda Reddy’s house from Avinash Reddy’s house. The CBI officials also inspected the house and its surroundings for reasons not known.

Avinash skips CBI enquiry, seeks time

1

Kadapa MP, Y S Avinash Reddy, skipped the CBI enquiry into former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy’s murder. He did not attend the CBI for the questioning on Tuesday, rather wrote a letter to the CBI seeking more time.

Though he arrived in Hyderabad from Kadapa this morning, he did not go to the CBI office in Koti, Hyderabad as required by the CBI. The CBI had sent a communication to Avinash Reddy on Monday asking him to come to the office for questioning on Tuesday morning.

However, on Tuesday morning, Avinash Reddy wrote a letter to the CBI that he had several engagements to attend on the day and he would not be able to come to the CBI office on short notice. He wanted the CBI to give him four to five days, in advance, for every questioning.

The Telangana high court had already directed him to be available to the CBI for questioning. However, he said he would not be able to be present today as he is occupied with other programmes which were scheduled some time ago.

It is to be now seen how the CBI would react to Avinash Reddy’s letter. Will it give him notice in advance or not is to be seen.

Meanwhile, Avinash Reddy also gave a complaint to the CBI that a media vehicle was following his convoy in Hyderabad. He said that the media vehicle was recording his movements without his permission and wanted action against the media for following him in Hyderabad.
