2,000 Telugu workers stranded in TN: Naidu plea for relief

0

Telugu Desam Party National President N Chandrababu Naidu has made a sincere appeal to Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswamy to help rescue over 2,000 Telugu fishermen and construction workers who are stranded in different locations in TN since the imposition of nationwide COVID-19 lockdown.

In a letter addressed to Mr. Bhalla, Mr. Naidu said that these migrant workers were stuck in different places in Chennai, Erode and Tirupur districts. They are facing severe hardships due to the lockdown. They are unable to access Government benefits due to lack of identity documents and local domicile documents.

Mr. Naidu told Mr. Bhalla that at present, around 1,000 fishing folk from Srikakulam district are stranded near Chennai. In places like Taramani, Velachery, Avadi, Ambatur, Red Hills, many Telugu people are there that have migrated for work. Further in Districts like Ramanathapuram, Thiruvallur, Erode, Tirupur and Kanchipuram. “On behalf of those families and my own behalf appeal to you to provide with immediate relief by providing them with shelter, food, water, medical aid and other essential commodities.”

In another letter addressed to Mr. Palaniswamy, Mr. Naidu lauded the efforts being taken by Tamil Nadu Government under your able leadership to reduce the burden of lockdown on poor people. “In this backdrop, I would like to bring to your notice about many Telugu people stranded in Chennai and various other parts of Tamil Nadu. Many Telugu people who have come to Tamil Nadu for livelihood are stranded in places like Taramani, Velachery, Avadi and Ambatur in Chennai. Further in Districts like Thiruvallur, Erode, and Tirupur, many Telugu workers are stranded due to COVID-19 lockdown.”

Mr. Naidu requested Tamil Nadu CM to help provide all necessary relief in these difficult times.

Stop YSRCP highhandedness and misrule: Naidu to Governor

0

TDP National President and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has made a strong plea to Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan to intervene and prevent the YSRCP government from undermining the democratic values and the rule of law in Andhra Pradesh and rescue farmers from Corona losses.

Mr Naidu wrote a letter to the Governor, narrating how the ruling party leaders are behaving highhandedly and how the government is not paying any attention to resolving farmers’ problems in paddy, aquaculture, horticulture, sericulture, poultry, etc.

He requested for the Governor’s intervention to “address the farmers’ problems and to set right the administration to run without highhandedness or discrimination. Your Excellency’s timely intervention would instill confidence in the people during these trying times and would help in upholding the democratic values and rule of law.”

Mr Naidu told the Governor that TDP Palakollu MLA TDLP Deputy Leader Dr. Nimmala Rama Naidu decided to meet the
Collector of West Godavari district to give representation about the farmers’ crisis for irrigation water to paddy and logistics for prawn.

Mr Chandrababu said that in spite of the repeated phone calls by Dr. Rama Naidu, the Collector did not respond to his calls. As a result, Dr. Rama Naidu took up ‘Cycle Yatra’ alone to go to Elur to submit memorandum to the collector. The MLA didn’t take anybody else with him to avoid crowd as per the guidelines issued for COVID lockdown on 6th April 2020. However, the police stopped him in Vissakoderu village near Bhimavaram, detained him for a while and sent him back to Palakollu.

Later on, the same day the Minister for Animal Husbandry and Fisheries along with the district collector conducted a review meeting with around 200 officials from fisheries department and YSRCP leaders of the district. The said meeting was attended by YSRCP MLAs representing Narsapuram and Bhimavaram Assembly constituencies along YSRCP leaders from Palakollu. The venue was at Anand Function Hall, Bhimavaram. Such a meeting during this COVID-19 lockdown directly violates the guidelines issued by the Government of India and also violates Disaster Management Act, 2005.

The former CM said that it is pertinent to note that physical distance was not maintained in the meeting as per the COVID protocol. Whereas, Dr. Rama Naidu was preventively arrested though he went alone on cycle without violating lockdown protocol.

Mr Chandrababu said that it is appalling that two TDP MLAs belonging to Undi and Palakollu constituencies were not invited or intimated about the fisheries review meeting. This clearly shows the highhandedness and administrative excesses with which the YSRCP-led Government is conducting affairs.

Efforts on to send students’ bodies: Indian Embassy to Chandrababu

0

The Indian Embassy in Manila, Philippines, has informed TDP National President and former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu that necessary steps are being taken to send the mortal remains of the two medical students to their families residing in Anantapur district in India.

The Embassy responded to a plea made by Chandrababu Naidu to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. The Embassy officials told Naidu that procedures like embalming of the bodies are taken up. They have talked to the local officials in Cebu city and also to the family members of the deceased. In their reply on twitter, the Embassy tagged Naidu and Jaishankar.

It may be recalled that Naidu wrote a letter to Jaishankar to help bring the bodies of Kondigalla Peddinti Vamsi and Katikela Revanth Kumar who died in a fatal road mishap in the Philippines on April 6. The accident took place when they were riding a motorcycle and hit a road divider.

Vamsi went to pursue medical studies under the Dr NTR Vidyonnati Scheme sponsored by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. Vamsi hails from Anantapuram town in Anantapur district. Revanth hails from Kadiri in Anantapur district. He went to study medicine at Matias H. Aznar Memorial College of Medicine at Cebu City.

0

TDP National President and former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday wrote a letter to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to help bring back the mortal remains of two Telugu students Kondigalla Peddinti Vamsi and Katikela Revanth Kumar from the Philippines.

Mr. Naidu said that Vamsi went to pursue medical studies under the Dr. NTR Vidyonnati Scheme sponsored by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. He was pursuing medicine at the CEBU Doctor’s University at Mandaue City in the Philippines. Mr. Vamsi hails from Anantapuram town in Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh. Revanth hails from Kadiri in Anantapur district. He went to study medicine at Matias H. Aznar Memorial College of Medicine at Cebu City.

Mr. Naidu told the External Affairs Minister that Mr. Vamsi and Mr Revanth met with an accident and died on April 6 at around 5.20 a.m. (IST) in the Philippines. Their family members in Anantapuram were shattered and inconsolable after hearing about the students’ deaths.

“I am writing this letter with deep sorrow and heavy heart. In this connection I request you personally and on behalf of the bereaved families to help bring back the bodies at the earliest to perform last rites,” Mr. Naidu said.

AP Corona cases rose by 1,021 per cent last week: Naidu

0

Former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu made a scathing attack on the YSRCP government, blaming it for ignoring the testing of suspected cases. He said it was very alarming that the total +ve cases rose by 1,021 per cent in the last one week. But, many more tests need to be done. The problem would be much bigger once full scale testing is done. AP last week average is highly dangerous when compared to 222 per cent average rise in the country.

Mr. Naidu alleged that there is largescale under-reporting in AP. Even, some leaders from Kerala have already talked about suppression of facts in AP. The YSRCP government is not having political will to correct its mistakes. The testing labs are not being raised from the existing 5.

While the Prime Minister Modi is talking to all sections of experts, political leaders and NGOs, the AP CM is not taking anybody into confidence. This is not a personal issue for CM Jaganmohan Reddy. He should launch immediate steps to make united efforts to create confidence in the people, Naidu said.

Jagan must explain sand mining in times of lockdown: Naidu

0

While the rest of India was working overtime to contain the spread of corona virus, sand mining in Andhra Pradesh was taken up again in clear violation of the complete lockdown enforced by the state and central governments, TDP president and former chief minister said.

In a letter to the YSRCP president and chief minister, Naidu said sand mining operations by the government during the complete lockdown defeats the purpose of enforcing the measure to contain the spread of the contagion. He also stated in the letter that the government should also curb the illegal sand and gravel activity being carried out with impunity by sand mafia across AP.

Naidu brought five key issues that need to be addressed immediately. He said the government should ensure manufacture of medical equipment at the Andhra Pradesh Medtech Zone (AMTZ), procure entire produce from the farmers during the complete lockdown period, regulation of prices of essential commodities and curbing of illegal sand and gravel activity.

“The government should keep a check on middle-men and black marketers who are jacking up the prices in this time of complete lockdown. The Anna Canteens that served a meal for Rs 5 and catered to a large poor and the middle-class section were stopped by this government,” Naidu rued.

4.5 lakh volunteers should deliver ration at doorsteps: Naidu

0

AP former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu called for immediate steps to track and test all the AP participants who have returned home after attending the Tablighi Jamaat 3-day religious convocation held at Hazrat Nizamuddin in Delhi. He wrote a letter to AP CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy, expressing concern over the likelihood of infection being passed on to others in their way back home and also to those who came into physical contact with them in the state.
More than 700 people from Andhra Pradesh attended Convocation (Mashoora) of Tablighi Jamaat at Hazrat Nizamuddin in Delhi from 15th to 17th March 2020 and returned to their respective homes in Andhra Pradesh. If the Government does not respond at an appropriate time, the number of cases of COVID are bound to increase. It would have catastrophic results.

Chandrababu pleaded for use of 4.5 lakh volunteers network for door delivery of ration to poor ration cardholders. There is a great need to prevent people from coming into physical contact with each other because of COVID threat. Ration may be distributed without biometric during these difficult times. It is not correct to expose so many poor people in long queues all over the State. The government should provide each household with Rs. 5,000 immediately to survive in the lockdown period.

Chandrababu invokes NTR spirit to fight COVID-19

0

The Telugu Desam Party duly practiced social distancing on the occasion of its foundation day. Party National President N Chandrababu Naidu and party leaders celebrated the 39th foundation day at their homes on Sunday. They delivered their speeches in a teleconference when the former Chief Minister called upon the party cadres to relive the inspiration of party founder NTR. From the beginning, NTR gave memorable services during Diviseema cyclone and Rayalaseema famine and so on. Naidu said that with the same spirit, the party leaders and cadres should rescue the people. The TDP shall remain committed to its social justice slogan ‘Society is a temple and people are Gods’.

The party stood by the people during many natural calamities in the past. People still remember TDP services during cyclone in East Godavari, floods in Krishna and Kurnool, heavy flash floods in Uttarakhand, mishap in Singareni mines, and in Hudhud and Titli cyclones. Naidu told party cadres that it is our duty now to raise confidence in the people in the battle against Coronavirus threat. It has convulsed the whole world. The virus has no discrimination against the rich and the poor. Even Prince Charles has got infected. In the world, one lakh people are being infected everyday. Each virus positive person can spread infection to 3,200 persons in six days.

High Commission reply to Chandrababu: Stranded Telugus safe

0

The Indian High Commission, Malaysia, has replied to AP former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, saying that the 53 Telugu people stranded in Kuala Lumpur cannot be brought back now because of movement restriction orders in that country. However, the Telugu people are safe and in good health
All Indian nationals in Kuala Lumpur are advised to remain in that city. The Malaysian government has issued Movement Control Order (MCO) till April 14. Staying indoors would be in the interest of their own safety, given the prevailing circumstances.

Indian Deputy High Commissioner replied this to Chandrababu’s letter written to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on March 18. The DHC said: “As you are kindly aware, Government of India had temporarily restricted all passengers from Malaysia to India from 17 March. Thereafter, in view of the situation on COVID-19, Government of India has temporarily stopped all scheduled commercial flights from landing in India from 22 March.”

Malaysia has also, in view of COVID-19, imposed a Movement Control Order (MCO) from 18 March, restricting people from moving outdoors. This MCO will be in effect until 14 April.

Why RTGS not used to fight Corona, Naidu asks Jagan

1

Former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is asking why AP CM is not taking necessary steps while many countries are controlling the contagion with technology. The government would have got better results if it made effective use of RTGS (Real Time Governance Society). It was this system that helped a lot during Hudhud and Titli cyclones when it was possible to rescue people and protect property. Mr. Naidu asked why there is a huge difference in the calculations of the State government. Union Cabinet Secretary has said that over 15 lakh persons returned from countries in the past two months. AP RTGS would have helped in tracking the foreign returnees efficiently if it was used properly.

Naidu also asked why the medical equipment industry was not promoted by the government. The Vizag Medtech Park was aimed at supplying medical equipment to the whole country. If this project materialised by now, the country would have got supply of all necessary medical material required in this crucial hour.

Naidu called for greater caution among the people now. The coronavirus threat is fast turning into an unprecedented pandemic the world has never seen before.

Corona testing capacities should be enhanced: Naidu

0

TDP National President Chandrababu Naidu called upon the people to cooperate with the officials, doctors and frontline warriors as too much harm was already done due to lack of tough quarantine of foreign returnees and affected persons in the initial days of the virus attack. Janata Curfew and 21-day national lockdown could control the spread of the disease but not totally prevent new cases. The next focus of the governments should be to come out with new ideas for handling the situation after the end of lockdown on April 14.

There is a greater need for enhancing testing capabilities in Andhra Pradesh and in the country because this would only give an understanding of the real extent of coronavirus threat. There should be complete data on number of foreign returnees, their coverage under testing and the precautionary measures being taken.

Chandrababu lauds Modi govt’s move to tackle Covid-19 threat

0

Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N. Chandrababu Naidu has hailed the steps taken by the Modi government to tackle COVID-19 threat.

In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, Naidu lauded the initiatives taken by him to contain the spread of dreaded disease.

The leader of opposition in Andhra Pradesh drew Modi’s attention towards Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME). Stating that this Asector works as backbone to the Indian economy, he wrote that it is pertinent to provide a financial package to stimulate economy in this turbulent times.

He noted that India, with its huge diversity and large population is on the edge of Covid-19 threat. “However, we are confident that India under your able leadership would effectively retaliate the threat of corona virus by setting an example to rest of the world,”A he wrote extending support to Modi and his team.

Naidu said people were observing the Prime Minister’s instructions to stay at home.

The TDP chief lauded Rs 1,75,000 crore package announced by Modi government to support various sections of the society.

“In this context, Rs 50 lakh insurance cover introduced for frontline warriors (foctors and other health workers fighting Covid-19) comes at a right time as tribute to their sacrifice.

Similarly, rendering financial package to farmers, ex-gratia to poor women, free gas cylinders to poor families, support to low wage earners in organised sector, support to senior citizens are right steps towards protecting them from the ill-effects of coronavirus lockdown.”

“Efforts to ensure that no Indian goes to bed on empty stomach is a proof that your government is humanity personified. Roughly two-thirds of population will benefit from this scheme. Distribution of pulses to ensure that everyone gets proper nourishment is visionary in its thought and act.

Increase of wages under MNREGA, benefitting workers in organised sector through Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF), granting additional credit to women self-help groups (SHGs) are timely and appropriate steps to build confidence among the poor and downtrodden of our society in ably fighting COVID-19.”

Naidu donates Rs 10 lakh to CM Relief Fund

0

Defer Assembly session, Naidu tells Jagan

0

Welcoming the Central Election Commission’s decision to defer the Rajya Sabha elections which were scheduled to be held on March 26, TDP president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday sought deferment of the AP Assembly session in light of spread of Corona virus.

Addressing a press conference in Hyderabad on Tuesday, Naidu said the entire country is in complete lockdown due to the growing corona cases and urged AP Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to desist from holding the Assembly session stating that such a move could be disastrous for the health safety of the legislators, media persons and Assembly staff.

The AP Chief Minister had recently announced to hold the Assembly session at least for a few days to pass the State Budget. Naidu said in the current scenario of corona virus spread, it will be prudent on the part of the government to postpone the Assembly session.

He appealed to the people to strictly follow social distancing and respect the complete lockdown declared by the government in the larger interests of the nation. He said the virus cannot be viewed casually and people should not be negligent.

Seven people have tested positive for coronavirus in Andhra Pradesh till Tuesday. The state government declared a complete lockdown, closed Andhra Pradesh inter-state borders for public transport, postponed SSC exams, all private and public transport services were suspended and non-essential commercial establishments shut.

Naidu plea for 2-months ration and Rs. 5,000 for poor

5

TDP National President and Opposition Leader N Chandrababu Naidu has drawn attention of Jagan Sarkar to worsening pandemic in Italy, Spain and Iran. There is a greater need now to initiate sterner measures than just lockdowns in order to effectively contain the mass spread of the deadly virus. In an open letter to Jagan Reddy, Mr. Naidu stressed the need for speeding up preventive measures to prevent community level transmission of the disease. There is a need to take immediate steps to save the daily wage workers and poor families whose livelihoods are under strain because of lack of daily work during lockdowns and curfews.

Mr. Naidu asked the government to provide poor families with 2-months ration, including rice, edible oil, pulses, sugar, vegetables and other essential commodities. Also, Rs. 5,000 financial assistance has to be given to each family during this extreme distress. Vegetable prices were hiked by 300 per cent by blackmarketeers in the open market. The government should intervene and bring down prices of milk, vegetables and all essential commodities. Officials should make vegetables available at Rythu Bazaars at low prices.

Naidu self-isolation for Janata Curfew, teaches grandson

0

AP Opposition Leader N Chandrababu Naidu observed self-isolation and confined himself to home as part of ‘Janata Curfew’ on Sunday. He spent time with his family members, teaching grandson Devaansh.

In a video released to the press, Mr. Naidu was seen observing ‘Janata Curfew’ by reading out a book to Devaansh. He said that it is for our community’s safety that we stay at home today and spend time with our families.

Mr. Naidu appealed to the AP government to identify some hospitals and designate them for rendering exclusive corona virus services to +ve cases and also suspected ones. Especially, thousands of foreign returnees have arrived and they should be confined to hospital quarantine for 14 days and if needed more days till they show negative twice in the tests.

Mr. Naidu has already called upon people in general and Telugu Desam Party cadres in particular to take part in ‘Janata Curfew’ as part of the battle against the global epidemic. The TDP Central Office has been closed on account of the curfew call. Mr. Naidu appealed to all individuals in society to take it as his and her personal responsibility to avoid touch points in public places and maintain social distancing till the threat subsides…

Naidu and Pawan tell Jagan to shed his ego

0

Ex CM Chandrababu Naidu and Jana Senani Pawan Kalyan gave a strong advice to AP CM Jaganmohan Reddy. While Naidu accused Jagan Circar of suppressing details of corona virus cases, Senani said that YCP is putting politics above public health. They demanded that the government should give its first priority to the corona virus preventive measures and awareness drives in the state. Now is not a time for ego issues. The ruling YCP is downplaying the importance of taking public health safety measures. That is obviously because Jagan Reddy’s immediate focus is on his political mission. It is not correct to do politics on public health at a time when the whole world is being shaken and greatly worried about rapid spread of the pandemic.

Senani’s advice came amidst widespread comments that Jagan is not taking steps for AP people’s safety while other states are closing schools and public contact points. The all opposition attack is coming as a big concern. On the other hand, YCP announced closure of schools as a preventive measure. This is too after the Supreme Court shock to CM Jagan on local body elections. The opposition leaders say that eyewash measures are not enough but the government should conduct an awareness drive as a mission.

Farmers, Pravasi Andhra people meet Naidu

0

Anguished farmers of Amaravati region met TDP president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu in Amaravati on Wednesday and urged him to ensure that the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy government did not go ahead with its intention to decentralize the state capital between Amaravati, Viskhapatnam and Kurnool .

The Pravasi Andhra people also met Naidu and donated over Rs 15 lakh part of the ‘Save Amaravati’ campaign. Thanking the farmers and Pravasi Andhra people for their donation for the Amaravati cause, Naidu said the future of not just Amaravati but entire Andhra Pradesh has come under question ever since the YSRCP government announced its plans to split the state. He said he will hand over the donation to Amaravati JAC and thanked all NRIs who contributed generously for the cause of Amaravati.

Farmers in the Amaravati have been up in arms against the decentralisation as they gave up their farm lands and were promised lands in the capital post its development. Around 25,000 farmers in the area had given their land measuring a total of 33,000 acres under a land pooling scheme for the capital city project.

Naidu trolled as ‘AP’s first Corona casualty’, TDP complains

0

The TDP has took strong exception to social media trolling against party chief and former CM N Chandrababu Naidu terming him as ‘first corona casualty in Andhra Pradesh’. Naidu’s pictures were morphed and posted on social media saying that Naidu died due to corona.

The TDP leaders expressed ire at the AP police for not taking any action against the persons who posted these messages.

TDP leader and former minister Kollu Ravindra on Tuesday objected to severe trolling of leader of the opposition N Chandrababu Naidu for the decision of the SEC postponing elections to local bodies by six weeks.

He sought to know from the government why the police are not taking serious action against such persons who are deriving sadistic pleasure with such messages.

He demanded the police to book cases against them.

For the past several days, some persons have targeted Chandrababu for their trolling. Morphed images are being posted in social media garlanding an image of Chandrababu, who was described as the first Corona death in Andhra Pradesh.

Ravindra questioned why the police remained silent on this issue when they took the TDP activists into custody for having criticised the YSRCP government,

The TDP had lodge a complaint with the police against such posts.

Naidu tweets about AP’s lost investments

0

TDP president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu took to his Twitter handle to lash out at YSRCP chief and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on his concerns that the state will lose Rs 5,000 crore funds from the central government after the civic body elections were postponed by the SEC by six weeks.

Naidu in his latest tweet wrote that the Jagan government should have worried about losing Rs 15,000 crore investments from the Reliance Industries proposals to set up an electronics manufacturing hub near Tirupati. The current chief minister, Naidu said, should have been concerned about the state losing Rs 70,000 crore investments from Gautam Adani led Adani Group’s proposal to set up a data centre and tech park in Viskhapatnam. Naidu further said that Jagan should have been worried about Rs 50,000 crore proposed investments from a Singapore consortium in Amaravati, he should have been concerned about losing Rs 12,000-crore healthcare and hospitality project of Abu Dhabi’s BRS Ventures and Rs 24,000-crore paper plant in Prakasam district by Jakarta based Asia Pulp & Paper.

Naidu said all the investors have left AP terming the business climate in the state unfriendly after Jagan reversed whatever strides he made in the previous five years on the investment front.

“Jagan is concerned about Rs 5,000 crore central funds instead of worrying about the investments AP had lost,” Naidu tweeted. The central government can be persuaded to grant the Rs 5,000 crore funds, but will Jagan be able to bring back the investors he chased away, Naidu questioned in his latest tweet.
