Kodali Nani lashes out at TDP chief Naidu

Former minister and ruling YSR Congress MLA Kodali Venkateswara Rao (Nani) lashed out at TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu and a section of the media for propagating false information against the state government.

Speaking to the media at the party central office on Wednesday, the MLA said Chandrababu Naidu, Pawan Kalyan and yellow media are on one stand and trying by all means to defame the government and Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. He said they are behind burning chariots, destroying statues, creating rifts among religions and castes and politicising deaths.

He came down heavily on Naidu and Pawan Kalyan for propagating false information on liquor and medicines of Aurobindo Pharma company that they were adulterated. He said no adulteration was done in Aurobindo Pharma, which has manufacturing units in 24 locations.

He reminded that it was Naidu who owns Heritage Foods which was banned in Kerala and Tamil Nadu in 2012 for adulteration of milk. He also slammed Naidu and yellow media for propagating false information on MP V Vijayasai Reddy and his daughter in regard to cruise ships in Vishakapatnam.

Kodali Nani, Vamsi intrude into Lokesh meet

Two of the ruling YSR Congress leaders have intruded into the virtual meeting of TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh on Thursday, giving a surprise to everyone. Shocked and annoyed, Lokesh hit the ruling party and the state government hard, blaming them for its failure to conduct the SSC examinations.

Lokesh also hit at the YSR Congress leaders for intruding into his meeting only to disturb the meeting. He dared them to answer his questions on the SSC examinations and the poor results where over 2000 students failed.

The two leaders who intruded into the Lokesh meeting are former minister Kodali Nani and Gannavaram MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi Mohan. Interestingly, these two leaders always target Lokesh and hurl abuses at him. It was these two leaders who called him Pappu and popularised it too.

When Lokesh was holding a virtual meeting with the Class X students, Vamsi joined the meeting from his account, while Kodali Nani joined the meeting using a fake account. Annoyed at this, Lokesh criticised the YSR Congress leaders for disturbing the meeting.

He alleged that the YSR Congress leaders were also intruding into the private lives of the people, besides indulging in several irregularities. He said that the government had failed on all fronts, taking the state backward.

As Lokesh was criticising the government and the ruling party, both Vamsi and Nani left the virtual meeting.

Let TDP, Jana Sena fight for 24 seats, says Kodali Nani

Former minister and firebrand leader of the YSR Congress, Kodali Nani, always has a different style in targeting the opposition parties. He hits hard, uses abusive language but gives a direct hitting reply.

He spoke on the TDP-Jana Sena alliance in the next elections where he said that the two parties would have to fight to retain those 24 MLA seats that these two parties have won in the 2019 elections.

The TDP had won 23 Assembly seats while the Jana Sena won a single seat in 2019 general elections. However, three MLAs from the TDP have distanced from the leadership and are working with the ruling YSR Congress. Similarly, the lone-Jana Sena MLA too is closely associated with the YSR Congress.

Thus, the two parties have lost 4 MLA seats – Vallabhaneni Vamsi, Maddali Giridhar and Karanam Balaram from the TDP and Rapaka Varaprasada Rao of Jana Sena. These MLAs are now associated with the YSR Congress bringing TDP strength to 20 and Jana Sena zero.

Kodali Nani discounted the TDP and Jana Sena claim of winning the 2024 elections. He said that these two parties have lost some seats which they won in 2019. “They should now work to retain the 24 MLA seats that they have won in the last election,” Kodali Nani said.

He said that the YSR Congress will retain power in the next election despite the misleading campaign by the opposition and the media. He said people are closely watching the false campaign by the TDP and the media as they are benefited by one scheme or the other.

“People won’t buy the lies of the yellow party and yellow media,” Kodali Nani said. He also discounted the claims of Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan in the 2024 elections and advised Pawan Kalyan to stop daydreaming.

Win as MLA, Kodali Nani tells Pawan Kalyan

Former minister and the YSR Congress senior leader Kodali Nani pooh-poohed Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan’s claims of defeating the YSR Congress in the next election. He discounted the claims of the Jana Sena chief and TDP chief on forming opposition unity.

He asked both Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan to form a grand alliance of all opposition parties first. He also sought to advise the Jana Sena chief to win as MLA from any constituency in the state before thinking of defeating the YSR Congress.

The former minister also asked the TDP chief to get his son Lokesh and foster son Pawan Kalyan elected to the Assembly from anywhere in the 175 Assembly constituencies in the state. He said both the son and the foster son have lost the 2019 elections, while Naidu himself saw a tough fight at his Kuppam constituency.

He also advised both Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan to get the other opposition parties to win at least one assembly seat each, besides winning Lokesh and Pawan before speaking about defeating the YSR Congress and Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Kodali Nani wanted Chandrababu Naidu to focus on retaining the Kuppam constituency, besides getting his son and the foster son elected. He also advised the two leaders to focus on retaining the 23 Assembly seats that the TDP had won in the 2019 elections.

The YSR Congress leaders said that chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy is not looking for any electoral alliance to retain the power. He claimed that the YSR Congress would win even more seats than the 2019 elections.

He ridiculed the TDP and the Jana Sena leaders for forging alliance two years ahead of the elections. He said that statements of Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan show their weakness in the electoral battle.

Kodali’s new twist challenge to Chandrababu Naidu

Minister for Civil Supplies in AP, Kodali Sri Venkateswara Rao, alias Kodali Nani is known for his hard hitting comments on TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu. He leaves no opportunity to hurl abuses at the TDP leaders, mostly targeting Chandrababu Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh.

The latest is Nani’s free talk on the national party status of the TDP, which the leaders claim. They say that Chandrababu Naidu is the party’s national president and Lokesh is the national general secretary.

Kodali Nani, surprisingly picked up this topic and threw an open challenge to the TDP chief asking him to prove that the TDP is a national party. He wanted the TDP leaders to get a letter from the Election Commission of India stating that the TDP is the national party.

The TDP is present in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Pondicherry. However, the party has no elected representatives either to their respective state legislatures or the Lok Sabha. It is only in Andhra Pradesh they have 23 MLAs, 15 MLCs, 3 Lok Sabha members and one Rajya Sabha member.

The TDP does not fit the bill of the ECI to be declared or recognised as the national party, as it could not win even a single seat in Telangana Assembly in 2018 and no representation in other states where it claims its presence.

Kodali Nani, referring to all these issues, dared the TDP chief to prove that the party is the national party. He said he would quit politics if Naidu proved that the TDP is a national party. He wanted the TDP chief to show him the letter from the ECI recognising the TDP as the national party, If Naidu fails, he should quit politics, dared Kodali Nani. He also wanted the TDP leaders to stop terming Chandrababu Naidu as TDP national president and Nara Lokesh as TDP national general secretary.

Is this why Kodali Nani demanding Bharat Ratna for NTR?

What’s behind AP’s loudmouth minister Kodali Nani’s sudden demand for a Bharat Ratna to NTR and YSR? The other day, he surprised everyone by demanding Bharat Ratna for diametrically opposite politicians NTR and YSR. Political watchers say that a lot of deep strategizing has gone into Kodali Nani’s demand.

YSRCP watchers say there are two objectives. First – to divert the attention from the Casino issue and give some breathing time for Kodali Nani. The whole discussion will now turn to whether Kodali Nani has the moral right to talk about NTR. Nani, who is known to conduct his election campaigns with the image of both NTR and YSR, will make the best out of this debate and the casino issue would be pushed to the background.

Secondly, this will help the YSRCP appropriate NTR as an icon. Interestingly, while everyone accepts Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna as the filmi heir of late NTR, the opinion is divided among the people about accepting Chandrababu Naidu as NTR’s political heir. By projecting NTR as a great icon and by naming a new district after NTR, the YSRCP wants to rob the TDP of NTR legacy. Kodali Nani’s demand for Bharat Ratna to NTR is also aimed at taking away NTR plank from the TDP. The TDP cannot oppose this and will only go on the defensive on the NTR issue.

But will this be able to bring the politically influential and financially entrepreneurial Kamma community closer to the YSRCP? Unlikely, say political pundits. They say that this is more an attempt aimed at confusing NTR fans and admirers. This will only serve to blunt the attack on the YSRCP as an anti-Kamma outfit. Nani will serve as the spearhead of this strategy, analysts say.

Is Kodali Nani isolated on Casino issue?

Has senior minister in YS Jagan Government Kodali Nani been completely isolated in the infamous casino case of Gudivada? Why did the YSRCP not release even a single press note backing Nani? Why no ministerial colleague joined the chorus of support for Nani? Has he been left to defend himself on the issue? These questions are being asked in the casino issue.

Nani has repeatedly clarified that he was not in Gudivada during the sankranthi period and that he was hospitalised. Yet the TDP fact-finding committee has held his responsible for holding casino during the Sankranthi festival season. It is also clear that the TDP is not going to relent on this issue.

However, the YSRCP seems to be ambivalent about Kodali Nani. No one except minister Vellampalli Srinivas came out in Nani’s support. No one has even released a statement supporting him. Even Ani Kumar Yadav remained largely silent. Kodali Nani is left to defend himself and in his desperation, he has become more belligerent and instead of defending himself, he is aggressively attacking Chandrababu Naidu and Lokesh.

The party too has not come out in his support. It appears that a strong section of the YSRCP does not like Nani’s wanton aggression. They also do not seem to support his aggressive statements. It appears that Nani, who never leaves any opportunity to defend YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is now left without any defender. Everyone seems to have forsaken him and he appears thoroughly isolated within the party.

RGV sarcastic comments on Kodali Nani

Ram Gopal Varma, who supported YSRCP party before the elections, has been passing critical comments on the YSRCP government ever since the issue of film tickets surfaced. Today he passed sarcastic comments on Kodali Nani referring to casino episode. Details as follows.

RGV posted on his Twitter handle , “I completely support and appreciate @IamKodaliNani Garu for his initiative to modernise Gudivada ..People talking against the casino are regressive and should be ignored . My question to people looking down upon Kodali Nani initiated casino is “is anyone looking down upon Goa and Las Vegas ? Kodali Nani should be admired for placing GUDIVADA on the same level as PARIS, LONDON, LAS VEGAS etc . Those who are talking against Kodali Nani initiated casino are the people who will drag advancement into pre historic dark ages. The dumbos who are accusing Kodali Nani for bringing GOA culture to GUDIVADA should realise that GUDIVADA people will go to GOA but GOA people don’t come to GUDIVADA Nani Garu should be admired for trying to modernise GUDIVADA”.

Needless to say that these comments garnered enough attention from the people and most of them detest this kind of activities from ruling party leaders.

Ban of Eenadu, ABN, TV5: Nani’s overaction irks YSRCP!

Andhra Pradesh minister Kodali Nani announced a ban on Eenadu and Andhra Jyothy newspapers, besides, ETV, ABN and TV5 news channels. Kodali Nani announced the ban by conducting a press conference on Thursday (today).

Nani said that this ban is announced on behalf of YSRCP and no minister or MLA or any other leader of YSRCP or party workers will speak to these newspapers or TV channels. He also said that all YSRCP leaders from top level to bottom level should not read these newspapers or watch these TV channels.

Nani cited ‘false propaganda’ carried by these media groups against YSRCP government as the reason for banning them.

It is not clear whether this ban decision was taken by Nani himself or whether it was announced on the directions of YSRCP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy.

But Nani nowhere claimed that it was announced on the directions of Jagan. This became evident that it’s the decision taken by Nani.

YSRCP leaders and cadre are reportely irked at Nani’s ‘overaction’ in announcing the ban. They question who gave powers to Nani to take decisions on behalf of YSRCP.

Is Nani YSRCP founder or YSRCP president to take decisions and announce them on his own without consulting anyone in the party? they ask.

In this era of digital and social media, is it possible to ban any newspaper or TV channel? they ask.

It remains to be seen how Jagan or Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy react to Nani’s ban on media organisations.

RGV’s tight slap for Kodali Nani

Veteran filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has been taking a dig against the government of Andhra Pradesh after the government slashed down the ticket prices. RGV participated in live debates and questioned the government. He also took his twitter handle to question the AP government about the same. AP Cinematography Minister Perni Nani took his twitter to respond to some of the posts of RGV. In one of his recent posts, RGV posted saying that he doesn’t know Kodali Nani and the only Nani he knows is Natural Star Nani.

“I have raised several questions against the AP government and I heard that some Kodali Nani gave a counter for the same. Some of them wanted me to counter Nani and the only Nani I know is Natural Star Nani. I am not sure who Kodali Nani is” posted RGV. Earlier to this, AP leaders and ministers staged attacks on Natural Star Nani for raising his voice against AP government. Some of them told that they never knew Actor Nani. RGV’s reply is a perfect reply and counter for the AP leaders who criticized Nani.

Fuel price cut by Centre eyewash, says Andhra minister

Andhra Pradesh’s Civil Supplies Minister Kodali Venkateswara Rao on Tuesday said that the slash of fuel prices by the Centre is only an eyewash, as the BJP was defeated in most of the by-elections across the country and lost their deposit in Andhra Pradesh.

The minister recalled that the Centre increased the prices of petrol and diesel despite the fall in the price of crude oil in the international market. He pointed out that the fuel rates have gone up to Rs 110 from Rs 70 per litre. The Centre cut the price only Rs 10 even though the hike was almost Rs 40, he said.

Addressing a press conference, the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader said the BJP leaders were propagating as if they have achieved something big, while the common people were suffering with the abnormal fuel rates.

Nani, as the minister is popularly known, stated that the BJP had lost deposits in both Badvel and Tirupati bypolls, and became a “silly” party in the state, indulging in cheap politics by creating differences between castes and religions. He questioned the BJP leaders if they analysed the reason behind losing the deposits.

The BJP suffered the defeat for creating a malicious propaganda against the State government’s initiatives, he said.

Referring to the TDP leaders’ protest at petrol bunks, he alleged that the previous TDP government had imposed a surcharge of Rs 2 on the fuel prices and looted almost Rs 10,000 crore from the public for over four and a half years. He clarified that the current government had only levied Rs 1 for repairing roads that were terribly neglected during the TDP rule.

The minister dared TDP President Chandrababu Naidu to stage a protest in Delhi as it was the Centre which hiked the fuel prices. He alleged that the TDP leaders’ protest at petrol bunks was only to create a law and order issue.

Are Vangaveeti Radha, Kodali Nani not friends anymore?

They were the best of the buddies. They were always seen together and regardless of the party affiliations, they were together. But now the two best friends are no longer seen together. They are not even appearing together in social gatherings. This is the hottest topic of discussion in Krishna district.

Highly placed sources say that all is not well between former MLA Vangaveeti Radhakrishna and Minister Kodali Nani. Though Radha kept changing parties, it did not come in the way of their friendship. Nani and Radha were very friendly for years. In fact, Nani, Radha and Vallabhaneni were known to be best friends despite their political differences.

But that appears to have changed now. Radha is touring Gudivada very often these days. But, he is not trying to meet Kodali Nani. During these tours, he is said to be meeting the Kapu community leaders. The Kapus of Gudivada are increasingly going away from Kodali Nani. They have been expressing dissatisfaction over Nani’s style of functioning. Radha meeting these disgruntled people is making news.

Both Radha and Nani are taking care not to cross paths. They are organising their programmes in such a way that both do not meet each other. However, both Radha and Nani have family relations and both the families have the habit of meeting often. Given this, Radha meeting Kapus separately is becoming a hot topic of discussion.

In fact, the third member of the troika, Vallabhaneni too is maintaining a low profile. His political position in Gannavaram is increasingly becoming untenable. He won on TDP ticket, but unofficially switched over to the YSRCP. But, the local YSRCP is not exactly welcoming him.

Kodali Nani’s abusive comments betray his frustration

Is Kodali Nani’s over-enthusiastic support turning out to be an embarrassment for both YS Jagan and the YSRCP? It appears so. Even diehard Jagan-backers are finding it difficult to enjoy Kodali Nani’s abusive and invective-filled defence of YS Jagan. The diatribe is not just downright demeaning, but is even unpalatable for the YSRCP itself.

Nani, once a staunch Chandrababu backer, has now become the strongest supporter of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The fire in this firebrand’s comments is now damaging the brand of both YS Jagan and the YSRCP. His over enthusiasm to defend Jagan is turning out to be an embarrassment for the party. His comments and the attack on the TDP are now ending up being counter-productive.

His recent comments in connection with the unfortunate stabbing by a jilted maniac lover of Guntur girl Ramya have been slammed by one and all. Instead of explaining the corrective measures taken up by the government to prevent the recurrence of such unfortunate events, Kodali Nani abused Chandrababu in the meanest possible words. The language, tone and tenor of the comments were highly abusive. He sought to compare Chandrababu’s ‘back-stabbing’ of father-in-law NTR and the murder by the jilted lover. These comments have been roundly criticised.

Instead of explaining the government position or informing about the measures put in place by the Government, Nani chose to attack Chandrababu Naidu for no reason. He also said that such murders would not happen if Chandrababu was put behind the bars. Nani’s abusive comments are making even the YSRCP people squirm in their seats.

Several analysts feel that Kodali Nani’s unwanted aggression is betraying sings of his frustration. Earlier, he oozed confidence, but he is now looking quite frustrated, they said. They also pointed out that making such nasty comments might help him in scoring a few brownie points, but will end up damaging the image of the party. They feel that it is about time that Jagan reins in Kodali Nani before it’s too late.

Why are TDP biggies wary of taking on Kodali Nani?

Why is YSRCP motor-mouth Kodali Nani going unchallenged? Why is the Opposition TDP not taking him on? Why are the TDP leaders not countering Kodali Nani’s abrasive and abusive comments? The TDP is finding itself unable to effectively counter Kodali Nani’s comments.

Minister Kodali Nani especially targets Chandrababu and Lokesh. His attacks are vicious and he uses words that are demeaning. But, none of the TDP biggies are countering him. No one is talking to the media to deflect Nani’s criticism. Earlier, Devineni Uma, who belongs to the same social category that Nani belongs to, used to counter him effectively. But, internal party dynamics have relegated him to the background. He is not coming out in defence of the party chief these days. Even when he speaks, the media coverage is minimal.

Leaders like Atchen Naidu, Kala Venkat Rao and Ayyanna Patrudu are not even responding to Kodali Nani’s vituperative attacks. Leaders like Yanamala are claiming that they are too senior to counter him. Earlier leaders like Prattipati Pulla Rao and Yarapatineni Srinivasa Rao used to issue counters. But these days, they are totally off the radar. In fact, Pulla Rao is not even active in the party affairs.

All this is having a demoralizing effect on the party cadre, especially in Krishna and Guntur districts. Recently when Lokesh went and met the kin of the killed TDP leaders in the Rayalaseema region, Kodali Nani gave them an acid tongue lashing. He particularly targeted Lokesh and the attack was particularly abusive. Yet, there was no counter from the TDP. No leader worth his salt countered him. Why are the leaders from the same community as that of Kodali Nani not reacting, the party cadres ask. Will TDP top bosses do something about it?

Kodali’s all out attack on Naidu, Ramoji, RK, TV5 Naidu

As expected, CM Jagan Reddy used his last weapon in his armoury to attack his rivals. He is none other than Minister Kodali Nani who has begun his belated but bitter criticism of the opponents. Kodali directly attacked Chandrabau, Ramoji Rao, ABN Radha Krishna and TV5 Naidu, saying that these foursome were suffering from symptoms that were more dangerous than even Coronavirus. These four persons were spreading all lies to defame the Governments.

Kodali told the people that PM Modi and CM Jagan were working efficiently to control the Covid epidemic at the national and the State levels. But the above four persons were not able to see the good work being done by the AP regime. In a single day, over 6 lakh people were administered the Corona vaccine in AP. Why can’t these four persons see this as an achievement of the State Government?

Minister Kodali strongly defended the booking of a case against Chandrababu Naidu, saying that the TDP chief created a scare among the people. The CBN420 virus originated in Naravaripalle to destroy the State as a whole. CM Jagan has written two letters already to the Centre for vaccines supply. Chandrababu’s madness reached a peak.

Kodali said it was not easy to procure vaccines and the Government would transfer Rs. 1,600 Cr to Chandrababu’s account if he could get 10 lakh doses per day for AP. It was not like mixing water in Heritage milk to buy vaccines at this critical time.

Kodali predicts 4.5 lakh majority in Tirupati bypoll

Amid non-stop allegations, the YCP Ministers have started making counter arguments on the issue of bogus voters in the Tirupati by-election. They say that if there is indeed a problem of fake voters, then the overall polling percentage would have touched 90 percent and above. But actually, just 64.29 percent polling was recorded in the just concluded bypoll and this is over 15.47 percent less than the voting percentage in 2019.

Making these logical arguments, Minister Kodali Nani has come before the media and straightaway launched a scathing attack on the Opposition parties. He asserted that their party would not need any bogus voters for winning the by-election. The Minister confidently said that the YCP nominee would get anywhere around 4.5 lakh majority in the Tirupati bypoll.

Nani’s latest claim further raised doubts among the rival parties about the extent of violations that could have been resorted in the election. On its part, the TDP is challenging whether the YCP Ministers would swear on the God of Tirupati that they did not bring fake voters from outside constituencies.

Even before the poll, the YCP claimed it would get far higher majorities than before and they would cross 3 lakh or 5 lakh. Now, the latest figure given by Nani is 4.5 lakh. The result would be announced on May 2.

Kodali comments force TDP into defensive mode

Everytime, there is a political crisis, Minister Kodali Nani comes to the fore to defend CM Jagan Reddy and the YCP. Especially, when there are huge corruption allegations against the CM, the Minister raises his voice. Almost all the time, Kodali’s attacks on the TDP go along personal lines. He unhesitatingly calls Chandrababu Naidu and Nara Lokesh in different abusive terms which other politicians usually avoid.

In his latest attack also, Kodali has used unparliamentary language against Naidu and Lokesh. The attack came at a time when the TDP levelled ‘quid pro quo’ allegations against Jagan Reddy in allotment of sand mining to one particular bankrupt company with total rights in the State.

After the Jagan Government lost the CID cases in the High Court, the YCP faced a bitter attack from the TDP. The YCP leaders were not able to come out with counter attacks. The TDP started challenging Jagan Reddy to prove his party allegations against Naidu in the Amaravati assignment lands.

At such a time, Kodali came on to the scene and launched a personal attack to which the TDP was found searching for the right language to counter the Minister’s attacks. Undoubtedly, the TDP is unable to match with the abusive words that are being used by the YCP Ministers from time to time. Obviously, the YCP leaders fearlessly use any sort of language because they have got support from above. But, the TDP leaders are thinking twice before making any comments considering the moderate language usually used by their party top leaders.

Jagan offers ‘Siva Ratri’ puja at Gudiwada

The Siva Ratri utsavams are being held with great fervour all over Andhra Pradesh. Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy took part in the celebrations at the NTR stadium in Gudiwada. Minister Kodali Nani and other leaders participated.

The Chief Minister performed ‘abhishekam’ to Sivalinga on the occasion. Kodali appeared in his devotional attire. A large number of devotees of Siva attended and offered puja at the venue. The organisers held special prayers to mark the significance of the day.

The chant of Siva resounded in major shrines like Srisailam, Srikalahasti, Amaravati, Kotappakonda and other temples. The devotees arrived in large numbers to offer their special prayers. Temple fairs were held to mark the occasion.

Kodali can speak to media but should not insult SEC

It has become a regular ritual for the ruling YCP Ministers to get involved in cases but soon find relief from the courts. Now, the High Court of Andhra Pradesh has cancelled the order of State Election Commissioner Ramesh Kumar who banned Minister Kodali Nani from speaking to the media.

The High Court has given permission to Kodali to speak to the media. But at the same time, the court has ordered him not to pass comments on the SEC. Also, the court has just given interim orders on this issue. The SEC lawyer has argued that the Minister made insulting comments against the SEC at his press conference dated 12-2-2021. Kodali’s comments were in the manner of making the SEC look like an inefficient institution in the eyes of the public.

The SEC lawyer further argued that a person occupying the high post of a Minister should maintain self restraint and should give respect to a constitutional institution like the Election Commission.

However, the Minister’s lawyer told the court that the SEC has powers only with regard to the conduct of the election process. The SEC cannot take away the Minister’s right to freedom of expression.

On hearing both sides, the court gave interim orders giving relief to the Minister. A similar order was given in respect of Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy in the past.

High Court shock to Kodali Nani, asks for tapes

The High Court of Andhra Pradesh has refused to give immediate relief to Minister Kodali Nani without seeing the videotapes of his statements made against the State Election Commission (SEC). The SEC lawyer has asked the court not to give its order without seeing the tapes. Problems arose in the past when the High Court gave relief to Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy and MLA Jogi Ramesh without checking what they said against the SEC.

Kodali Nani moved a House Motion before the High Court today as it was a holiday being a Sunday. Nani’s lawyer told the court that the SEC has banned him from speaking to the media and holding official meetings as well even though the Minister has not said anything hurtful.

The High Court then asked whether Nani’s lawyer had attached the video showing Nani’s statement against the SEC. When he said that it was not attached, the court asked him to provide the video tomorrow. The hearing was also postponed for Monday afternoon at 2.15 p.m.

SEC Ramesh Kumar took a serious note of the SEC getting adverse orders from the court in the case of Peddireddy and Jogi Ramesh. This time, he made sure that the court should get to know full details of Kodali Nani’s outburst against the SEC before issuing any order.
