Sharmila’s last minute entry – only to defeat Nara Lokesh?

0

Jaganmohan Reddy’s sister Sharmila made an unexpected entry into campaigning in Mangalagiri assembly segment. She criticised and described CM Chandrababu Naidu as a betrayer and evildoer.

TDP hit back saying that Sharmila spoke exactly like a hardcore criminal’s daughter who has come out of her Bangalore bungalow after five years only to help the YCP’s losing candidate Alla Ramakrishna Reddy in Mangalagiri segment in Amaravati capital city region.

Sharmila has no moral right to talk about Chandrababu as she has got partnership in all the illegal assets cases of Jaganmohan Reddy. YSR’s Arogyasri was applicable only after poor patients spent thousands of rupees on tests but NTR Vaidya Seva is taking care of patients expenditure from blood tests to caesarian operations.

TDP advised Sharmila not to talk about Pasupu Kumkuma as the YSR family was responsible for the death and destruction of thousands of TDP activists’ families and murder of senior leader Paritala Ravindra. How can Sharmila pass comments on the Amaravati capital city works where 60 per cent works are already completed?

TDP said that while CM Chandrababu Naidu is working like a coolie for the welfare and development of 5.5 crore people of AP, Sharmila is irrationally asking whether Naidu is tending to donkeys. Coming from three generations of faction family, Sharmila has no respect for senior leaders and she is closing her eyes to large-scale development taking place in the state, Yamini said.

TDP hit back at Sharmila saying the development would be possible only under Chandrababu leadership while the YCP would try to delete AP from India’s map altogether if given that one chance.

Naidu’s son Lokesh faces acid test to prove himself

0

At a time when Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu is facing perhaps the toughest challenge of his political career, his son Nara Lokesh is set to make his electoral debut.

Considered number two in the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Lokesh will be facing his first test to go beyond his limited role to prove himself as a leader with a mass base and someone who can be his father’s political successor.

Though a minister in his father’s cabinet since 2017, this 36-year-old Stanford management graduate will be entering the fray for next month’s Assembly elections. He has, hitherto, been a member of the upper house of the state legislature.

Making a beginning as ‘backroom boy’ a decade ago and with a ‘backdoor’ entry into the cabinet, this burly-looking young leader is yet to make his presence felt on the bigger political stage.

After scouting for a safe constituency for his son, Naidu zeroed in on Mangalagiri, located in state capital region of Amaravati.

However, winning this seat may not be a cakewalk for Lokesh. A. Ramakrishna Reddy of the YSR Congress Party was elected from here in 2014, though with a very narrow margin of 12 votes. The opposition party has again fielded the outgoing legislator.

It was during the 2009 elections that Lokesh started becoming active in the TDP, working as backroom strategist. He was then working as the managing director of Heritage Foods, a leading family-owned dairy firm.

However, it was only 2013 that Lokesh formally became active in the party. With a firm grip on party for over two decades, Naidu never faced any opposition to his attempts to groom his son as his successor. The only dissenting voice was his brother-in-law, N. Harikrishna, who died in a road accident last year.

Harikrishna was keen to see his son and popular actor Junior NTR take over the mantle of the party founded by his late father, N.T. Rama Rao, who was popular as NTR.

Lokesh is married to N. Brahmani, daughter of his maternal uncle N. Balakrishna, a leading actor and a TDP legislator.

Brahmani is currently the executive director of Heritage Foods, which is run by her mother-in-law, N. Bhuvaneswari.

After being appointed as TDP general secretary in 2015, Lokesh came to be seen as the number two. Also a member of politburo, the party’s highest decision-making body, he has been closely involved in party activities, especially the welfare of party workers.

For TDP supporters, he is their ‘Chinna Babu’ (junior Babu) but for his opponents, he is ‘Andhra pappu’ who has often been the butt of jokes in the social media. The critics often ridiculed him for his fumbles during public speeches in Telugu.

Lokesh was elected (by TDP MLAs) to the Legislative Council, the upper house of the state legislature, in 2017. He was subsequently inducted into the cabinet and given the portfolios of Panchayat Raj, Rural Development and Information Technology.

Locked in a neck-and-neck fight with the YSR Congress Party, Chandrababu Naidu is perhaps facing the toughest challenge in his political career spanning 40 years. His flip-flop over the special category status to Andhra Pradesh and ties with the Congress, a party which was his enemy for 36 years but whom he has now made up, all landed him in troubled waters.

Change of plan – Lokesh to contest from Mangalagiri

0

TDP boss Chandrababu Naidu is consulting widely among the party leaders to select a safe seat for Lokesh. Earlier, Vizag North was almost finalised. But there is a change of plan again. Naidu is considering Mangalagiri assembly segment as the safest and most favourable one for Lokesh. As it is located within the limits of Amaravati capital area, there is a huge scope for implementing developmental and welfare programmes effectively.

In the past, Pedakurapadu, Penamaluru and other such TDP dominated segments were also considered. Now, Mangalagiri emerged as the favourite one. In 2014 elections, the TDP lost to the YCP with a margin of just 12 votes. But in the past five years of unimaginable development in Mangalagiri limits, the TDP sympathisers and party activists have increased in number in the segment limits.

Naidu considers Mangalagiri as advantageous on many counts for Lokesh candidature. In future, this constituency may be groomed and strengthened as a TDP stronghold.

Chandrababu okays Vizag North ticket for Lokesh

The long suspense over the contesting segment of Andhra Pradesh IT minister Nara Lokesh is over. He is not going to contest in the upcoming Assembly elections from Bheemili. But, TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu officially confirmed that Lokesh will be given Vizag North ticket. Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao is supposed to contest from Vizag North if Lokesh contests from Bheemili.

There are still rumours Naidu may consider giving Bheemili ticket to CBI EX JD Lakshminarayana if the latter joins the TDP. Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Sabbam Hari may join the TDP and contest from Madugula constituency. The fast-paced developments are springing surprises to the TDP cadres as well. CBI EX JD’s name came to the fore and the YCP leaders are saying this Chandrababu’s gimmick to annoy Jaganmohan Reddy whose illegal assets cases were investigated by Lakshminarayana.

On his part, Ganta Srinivasa Rao is going to contest from Visakhapatnam MP seat. Besides Lakshminarayana, there are also rumours that ex-MP Ashok Gajapathiraju’s daughter Adithi will be considered for Bheemili. Naidu is making very cautious decisions on North Coastal Andhra segments to balance caste and local equations.

Jagan’s home is birthplace of cyber crime, says Lokesh

0

AP Minister Nara Lokesh has mounted an unsparing attack on the opposition leader Jaganmohan Reddy. How can the YCP leader level allegations of digital crime against the TDP? asked Jagan. Is it not Jagan who has a big history of stealing 10th class examination papers and amassing lakhs of crores of illegal wealth?

Lokesh said it’s in Jagan’s home that cyber crime is born. The YCP leader has no moral right to talk about the TDP track record or about the Chandrababu Naidu government. Lokesh said Jagan owed an explanation to the people why he is appearing before the CBI court every week. Is it not by gross abuse of power that Jagan made thousands of crores during his father YSR regime?

Lokesh accused Jagan of making a big mistake by colluding with Modi and KCR to defame and destabilise Andhra Pradesh. The YCP cheap tactics will not work in AP even in 2019 elections and Jagan will face the wrath of AP voters for all his anti-AP activities.

Lokesh wants to contest from Bheemli segment?

0

Minister Nara Lokesh, son of CM Chandrababu Naidu, is busy with selecting a safe assembly constituency to contest in the coming election. One of the possible segments is Bheemli which is presently represented by HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao. This has become a matter of intense political speculation these days. Srinivasa Rao has already met Chandrababu Naidu and informed him about his interest to contest again from Bheemli.

Located in the outskirts of Visakhapatnam metropolitan city, Bheemli is considered a stronghold of the TDP now. Ganta Srinivasa Rao has told his followers there if Lokesh wants to contest from Bheemli, there are chances he will contest from Visakhapatnam North segment. But there are also other segments being considered for the candidature of Lokesh. They are Penamaluru in Krishna district and Hindupur in Anantapur district.

All the TDP ticket aspirants are ready to step back for the sake of selecting a safe seat for Lokesh. Some leaders are evening asking him to come to their district. Chandrababu Naidu is very cautious about selecting the seat for Lokesh as it is the first time he is going to contest a direct election for the Assembly seat.

Modi cheated AP again…. tweeted Nara Lokesh

0

The Central government, on Wednesday, announced railway zone for Visakhapatnam prior to the visit of Narendra Modi to Andhra Pradesh. The long-awaited railway zone is one of the major promises made at the time of separation of Andhra Pradesh. But with the decision to further divide Waltair zone into Vizag Zone and Rayagada zone, the majority of the income goes to Rayagada.

Andhra Pradesh IT minister Nara Lokesh tweeted that Narendra Modi proved that he is a betrayer by this announcement of new railway zone. He opined that Modi killed the mother (Waltair division) by giving birth to the baby (Vizag railway).

Lokesh stated that Narendra Modi did injustice to Andhra Pradesh at the time of bifurcation and gave the income generating Hyderabad city to Telangana. Modi is now doing the same with Waltair division. With Modi’s decision to divide Rayagada zone from Vizag zone, the income generated region will go to Orissa.

Lokesh also tweeted that the goods transport brings an income of Rs.6500 crores to Waltair division. It is Narendra Modi’s betrayal to give those 6500 crore income generated region to Rayagada region and leave 500 crore rupees generated region to Vizag region. Many are questioning, without Vizag division why give Vizag railway zone.

Chandrababu looking for a safer constituency for Lokesh?

0

It is almost confirmed that Telugu Desam Party president and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is going to contest from Kuppam once again in the upcoming assembly elections. The leaked first list of TDP candidates confirmed Chandrababu contesting from Kuppam.

Now, the question is where Chandrababu’s son and IT Minister Nara Lokesh would contest from. Up until now, there had been a rumour that Chandrababu will choose another Kamma-dominated constituency and let Lokesh contest from Kuppam as it is the safest bet for Lokesh.

But, with the latest reports saying that Chandrababu himself wants to contest from Kuppam, he is looking for another safer constituency for Lokesh. According to the party sources, Naidu has a few constituencies in mind. Constituencies like Mangalagiri and Pedakurapadu in Guntur district or any other TDP stronghold constituencies in Krishna district or Anantapur are taken into consideration.

A senior party leader said, “If Lokesh has to contest from any of these seats, the sitting MLA of that constituency has to sacrifice it. In case, there is no chance of Lokesh winning the seat, he would be continued as an MLC.”

Where is Jagan? asks Lokesh on anti-Modi protests in AP

0

While the entire Andhra Pradesh is protesting against PM Modi’s tour, the Opposition YCP is nowhere to be seen in the scene. CM’s son and Minister Lokesh asked whether Jaganmohan Reddy is coolly taking rest in his Hyderabad Lotus Pond luxury house without bothering at all about AP people’s woes. Lokesh further asked whether all the YCP leaders were busy mobilising people for Modi’s public meeting in Guntur.

The TDP has raised the tempo of pro-special status agitation in AP during Modi tour here. Thus CBN cornered not only the BJP leaders but also the YCP as well to a large extent. Lokesh took the lead in attacking Jagan. He asked whether the Opposition leader is afraid to come out to join special status agitation because of the Modi government. There are over 26 cases of illegal assets against Jagan being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of Investigation.

In fact, it is Jagan who has claimed all the credit for making special status a big election plank but now he is not coming forward to join AP people’s agitation. Lokesh took strong objection to Jagan not supporting AP people in their hour of need. Obviously Jagan is afraid that the BJP will send him to jail if he protested during Modi visit, Lokesh said.

What right Amit Shah has to talk about corruption? asks Lokesh

0

AP Minister Lokesh hit back strongly at BJP National President Amit Shah for his comments against the TDP government. What moral right does Shah have to make allegations of corruption against CM Chandrababu Naidu? asked Lokesh. He questioned the unholy friendship that the BJP is having with Jaganmohan Reddy who is the accused number 1 in many CBI assets cases. As Shah is having friendship with an accused number 1, it is but natural the BJP president is looking at the whole world with suspicions.

Lokesh recalled that the Modi government itself gave country level awards to AP in Ease of Doing Business and rural development sectors but now Shah is saying AP is number one in corruption. Shah has said the TDP has totally ignored the Rayalaseema region. Lokesh countered this remark by saying the Kia Motors is a glowing example of how the TDP government has created wonders in the backward region. It is the Modi government which has let down Seema region by not doing anything for the Kadapa steel plant.

Lokesh also said the BJP totally ignored 9 items out of 14 in bifurcation act while leaving remaining 5 items incomplete and it is unfair for Shah to claim 10 items were resolved.

How much Modi tries to hurt AP to promote Gujarat?

0

AP Minister Lokesh is sharing with colleagues an interesting and yet surprising episode he had during his visit to Davos’ World Economic Forum summit. An internationally famous industrialist visited Lokesh and his team of AP officials. He has already finalised his decision to invest Rs. 5,000 crore in AP. The industrialist told Lokesh what happened during one of his visits to Delhi when he met with PM Modi.

When the industrialist indicated his decision about AP investment, Modi did not pay attention but quickly invited him to make that investment in Gujarat. PM went on to explain how Gujarat is a better destination considering better road, rail and air connectivity. Moreover, a bullet train project is also there. Modi has continued to impress upon the industrialist to change his decision about investing in AP.

Sharing this incident with Lokesh at Davos, the industrialist said he had however preferred AP finally because of several reasons. Firstly, his company team of experts studied the Kia motors project and its execution in AP. They expressed total satisfaction on the support from the administration and the speed with which project could be completed. Another reason told by the industrialist is the brand image carried by Chandrababu Naidu in the entire country.

Why Jagan can’t criticise Modi at all? asks Lokesh

0

CM Chandrababu Naidu’s son Lokesh passed strong comments on Opposition leader Jaganmohan Reddy. Jagan made a one hour and forty minute long speech at the concluding public meeting of his state wide padayatra. Lokesh pointed out nearly one hour of Jagan’s long speech was used to attack and criticise Naidu alone. Why only Naidu and why Jagan did not raise a single point against PM Modi in that prolonged speech?
Lokesh asked whether this was not proof enough for the secret deal between Modi and Jagan. Was it not the anxiety on the part of YCP to be very careful about Modi just because its leader had so many CBI cases against him? No leader of the YCP at all levels would speak against the BJP or Modi-Shah duo because this would invite trouble from the Centre.

Lokesh said Modi is needlessly interfering with the AP politics which will prove very costly for the BJP at the national level itself in 2019 election. Just like in Karnataka, the BJP would bite the dust in AP in the coming election. Lokesh said the TDP would play its part quite effectively to teach a fitting lesson to the BJP this time as well. He asserted the TDP is going to win the election and form the government again with massive support from the people. Naidu’s pro-welfare and pro-development image will help the TDP in a big way.

Excl Interview with Nara Lokesh – Andhra is on a rapid development path

There couldn’t have been a perfect setting for a freewheeling tête-à-tête with a budding politician, who already has made a mark for himself with numerous novel initiatives, clearly away from aping his father who continues to talk the new age lingo like block chain technology, artificial intelligence, machine learning, information dashboard and low hanging fruits.

That in a nutshell summarizes the lively Nara Lokesh contrasting himself – surely not in policies and thought process – with Telugu Desam Supremo and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu.

The cool climes of Vundavalli, a picturesque and a serene location on the banks of the River Krishna. Before meeting the IT minister, our team went round Amaravati and found rapid construction activity in progress.

Universities (VIT and SRM) have built swanky new campuses and secretariat area is abuzz with administrative and political activity. Land allotments are complete in core capital regions and rapid express way is still under construction.

After waiting for a while, we were ushered in for a one-on-one interview with Lokesh. Brimming with confidence, the Nara scion comes across as the one in complete grips of the departments he’s entrusted with.

Public vs. Private Life:

  • I have been lucky to play three completely different roles in the last 10 years. First few years at Heritage, then as the general secretary of TDP and from the last 14 months as Minister. I feel Private sector job is most difficult as we have limited resources.

Interrupting — (Isn’t a government job more challenging given the bureaucracy and resistance to change?

  • No, I look at it the other way. All the bureaucrats want to make impact to the society and as people representatives our job is to facilitate their success. That is what I try to do. I have a very good team of 7 IAS officers and as a first-time minister they made my first few months seamless.

First few months as Minister? Was it overwhelming?I have three portfolios, each a full-time job in itself – Information Technology, Panchayiti Raj and Rural Development. First couple of months I just tried to get my hands around all the portfolios and get a grasp of minute details.

How are you able to manage three portfolios simultaneously, along with party responsibilities?

  • I believe if we work efficiently we can manage. I’m a big believer in real time governance. So we developed extensive reporting capability. You can go to http://www.mydepartments.in/PRRWS/ministerHomePage and you can get every minute detail of what is happening in my areas. I don’t need to make 100 phone calls to get status. Every Monday, I go through all the reports and delegate the work accordingly. This way, we have been able to make tremendous progress in all the areas. I believe in democratizing the data. So I make every effort to make data as transparent as possible.

(Editor’s Note: This website is worth checking, given the amount of real time information captured. KPI’s are set for each areas and officials are tracking as per KPI’s).

About YS Jagan:

  • Jagan gaaru has been going on Padayatra. I ask him, why should people vote for your party? Till now, I don’t think he spelled out anything clearly what his party will do instead of levelling baseless allegations on CM Gaaru.

About Pawan Kalyan:

  • As I have tweeted earlier, I have complete respect for Pawan Kalyan gaaru.

(Did you anticipate Pawan’s attack)

  • No, I was participating in an event at VIT that day and then another at KLU. I am still not sure why Pawan gaaru, being in a responsible position as head of a party, makes unfounded allegations. I have challenged them to prove and till now there is no reply. Pawan gaaru just told later ‘vallu annnaru vellu annaru’, which I’m not sure which a person of Pawan’s stature should be making. In spirit of our leader, we always try to go with positive approach.

Social Media and Personal attacks:

  • Our country is primarily an agrarian economy. For the core voter in villages, print media is sacrosanct. Then there is impact of electronic media. Social media is significant for new age voters – below 30 years and many voters who might be voting for the first time. From TDP perspective, we make sure we spend 33% of efforts in print, 33% in electronic and 33% in social media.

Does personal attacks in social media pain you?

  • No, I’m a very positive person and look things at a positive light. I also tell my team to spread the positive message as much as possible and this direction comes from the Leader

About Chandra Babu in person:

(For outside world, Chandra babu is always WORK, WORK, WORK. We rarely see him talking anything apart state, politics. What do you guys talk about when only two of you are sitting for a morning coffee).

  • Yes, he is always into work even off the camera. He doesn’t know anything except People, politics, philosophy. He has spent last 40 years with the party and people and so he just enjoys what he is doing. We can’t do any gossiping with him as he doesn’t know anything outside of work. Even when we go on vacation (which in itself is very rare once in 2 years) he is still always on phone following up on pending tasks.

About Media in Andhra:

  • I always try to have good relation with media. Media is one of the main pillars in democracy and we always try to be as transparent as possible.

(Referring to news coverage of the day..)

  • Yesterday, the state bagged a huge project Flex. My team and I have spent significant time on this, fending competition from Gujarat we were able to get this project to the state. Sakshi allocated a small box in inner pages. I just laughed seeing that. I believe no one media can suppress information from readers.

2019 elections

  • Chandragiri or Penamaluru? I haven’t even given it a thought and It is up to our boss and the party. I’m always a true soldier to the party and will abide by our boss’ decision.

Confident of winning 2019?

  • Yes, TDP made some big promises in 2014 and we are happy that we are able to deliver on all of them. Each of those promises take 5 years in itself and given the tight financial situation, all kudos to our CM gaaru for delivering on all the promises.

(Last time you won all the seats in East and West Godavari, which are going to be the key in 2019. Given Pawan Kalyan are you confident of winning majority in East and West Godavari?)

  • I think Pawan Kalyan’s impact is going to be minimal. Till now, he didn’t concretely spell out what exactly his party will be doing

Telugu Associations in USA:

  • Chandra Babu Naidu gaaru has made it clear multiple times — As far as we are concerned, AP NRT is the only association we recognize and urge all the NRI’s to contribute/work through NRT. From a party perspective, we don’t endorse any of the associations. Urge all the NRI’s to use AP NRT platform. It has great benefits and Ravi Vemuru has played a pivotal role in conceptualizing it and making AP NRT a big success.

About family:

  • I’m blessed to have Nara Brahmani and given both of our busy schedules we try to spend quality time with Devansh. He is growing up fast….

Thanks to the Minister and his dedicated team for the interview.

While dad asks party to get ready for early polls, son says no

0

In Andhra Pradesh politics a surprising development happened the other day in the ruling Telugu Desam Party. Party supremo and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had asked the rank and file of the party to be geared up for the early polls. He addressed the party coordination committee meeting and also held teleconference with the party leaders where he hinted at the early polls. This happened in the morning from the Chief Minister’s Office.

Hours later, Chandrababu Naidu’s son and Minister for Information Technology, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development, Nara Lokesh, told the media that the TDP was not looking at going for early election. “We were voted to power for five years and we would seek re-election only after completing the full term,” Lokesh told the media persons in the secretariat.

This contradicting statement between the father and the son is confusing and exposes lack of coordination in the ruling TDP for the first time. One wonders how Lokesh can give a statement contradicting Chandrababu Naidu’s statement on early polls.

There are indications that the BJP is actively considering the advantages of going for early polls, most likely in December this year along with the Assembly elections of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. There is also the possibility of Telangana advancing the elections and political circles smell similar position in Karnataka with the Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) having more scratches in the relationship.

Given all these factors the ruling TDP chief is also actively considering the benefits of advancing the polls on the plank of Polavaram and Amaravati projects besides the BJP’s betrayal slogan on the special category status. The TDP is building up emotions on the bifurcation benefits and is planning for State wide agitations on issues like steel plant in Kadapa and railway zone in Visakhapatnam.

The TDP ranks in Rayalaseema region are already in the fighting mode on steel plant issue. Chandrababu Naidu had directed the party leaders from Uattarandhra to launch similar agitation in Visakhapatnam for railway zone. The leaders from Prakasam and Nellore districts would get into the fighting mode on Dugarajapatnam Port, while the Krishna and Guntur leaders will take up the Amaravati issue. The Godavari districts leaders were asked to take up Polavaram and Petro Chemical corridor issue. Thus Chandrababu Naidu is preparing the leaders to build up agitation and prepare the people for early polls.

Nara Lokesh boasts about ‘Mahanadu’ Conclave success!

0

AP IT Minister Nara Lokesh showered praises on the ‘Mahanadu’ team for successfully hosting the ‘Mahanadu’ Conclave here in Siddhartha Engineering College, Vijayawada. Speaking to a group of reporters, Nara Lokesh claimed that over 43,000 people have attended the ‘Mahanadu’ Conclave.
‘This is the first time such a huge crowd turned up in the history of TDP party. In comparison to the Mahanadu Conclave held in Vishakhapatnam last year, the turnout is 33% more this time around.

Despite tens of thousands of people turning up for the mega event, we made sure that no one faced any trouble. This is only possible with the TDP party, given the leadership, and the discipline it inculcates in its supporters and cadre. BJP, which has cheated Andhra Pradesh is our primary enemy. BJP is acting like oxygen for the YSRCP, which is breathing through a ventilator’, said Nara Lokesh. No wonder, ‘Mahanadu’ has turned out to be a great success, given the fact that 14 committees were appointed for the conclave. Looks like Nara Lokesh, who declares his assets annually, forgot to declare the expenditure incurred due to ‘Mahanadu’ to the exchequer.

Aggression on cards! Nara Lokesh fires on Pawan Kalyan!

0

Gone are those days, where political leaders were cautious in making remarks against opposition leaders. This is the age of ‘aggression and counter criticism’. Right from the Prime Minister, to the gully leaders, everyone is being on the offensive side.

AP CM’s kin and AP IT Minister Nara Lokesh is no stranger to that. Reacting to Pawan Kalyan’s allegations made against him, Nara Lokesh criticized Pawan’s attitude and nature. ‘

‘Do you expect me to remain calm, and brush away the allegations on me? There is absolutely no need for me to even respond to the allegations passed on me. Will Pawan Kalyan rate Chandrababu Naidu, who has been working hard for the development of Andhra Pradesh?’, question Nara Lokesh.

If Pawan Kalyan has proofs of my corruptive practices, he could have directly called me up and confronted me. How is that, Pawan Kalyan suddenly realized that AP government is corrupted? That too after four years of association with us?’ questioned Nara Lokesh.

He further went on to say, ‘comments with respect to my grandfather hurt me a lot. I am someone who is highly disciplined. Without complete information, how can you allegate someone?’.

Nara Lokesh takes a brutal dig at T-Hub

0

Andhra Pradesh Minister of IT Nara Lokesh took jibes at Telangana’s government’s prestigious startup initiative T-Hub. Speaking on startup approach taken by governments at the CII summit, he said, “We don’t charge you for seating. You come to my building and we charge Rs5000 give you a seat to work? We don’t do that. We follow Cohort model, wherein we mentor you for free of cost”.

It may be recalled here that T-hub charges around Rs5500per seat for a startup exclusive taxes. Startups cannot afford that much money as they don’t have funds and are always in crisis. Lokesh said, “In AP when you talk about Innovation and startups, you don’t see buildings. I believe that is not where startups are. We think big buildings are going to solve this problem. Absolutely not. I strongly believe that it is about mentoring mentoring and mentoring”.

Telangana government will be launching a new building T-hub Phase2 which will be the world’s second largest incubator. The construction of this building is in progress and will be inaugurated towards the end of this year spread over 3.5 lakh sq ft.

Lokesh certainly did an upright research before speaking at a conference of this massive scale. He has hit the nail on the head by addressing the ground realities of the problems faced by start-ups. Startups don’t need building, they can work from anywhere, with an internet connection. What they need is guidance from people who have industry experience. Experts often spoke about market access while startups have often complained about lack of proper mentors in India.

Lokesh said that AP’s startup model is purely based on mentoring and giving access to market. These words were like melody to the ears of startup founders.
“In AP my budget for accelerator is one million dollars and it is among top six accelerators in the country today. They operate out of rented premises. If you want an office it is going to cost me two million dollars, I would rather put that money on 20 companies and mentor those companies and grow those”, he said.

However, one thing common in the speeches of both IT ministers when it comes to speak about startups is that, they both tend to give reference to only specific startup. While KTR always speaks about the RTA m-wallet app, Lokesh always speaks about Biodegradable banana fiber shaving brush and each brush costs 3Rs.

Either ways, Lokesh certainly sounds to be better equipped with ground realities than KTR who has been promoting only one app and T-Hub from past two or three years.
