Sree Vishnu’s Raja Raja Chora Review : Quirky Crime Comedy

Raja Raja Chora Movie Review

Raja Raja Chora Movie Review

Young actor Sree Vishnu has done sensible films in his career and is away from regular commercial capers. He has done content-driven films and Raja Raja Chora is one more in his career. He is pretty confident about the film which headed a theatrical release today. Hasith Goli is the director and Megha Akash, Sunaina are the leading ladies. People Media Factory and Abhishek Aggarwal Arts are the producers. Here is the review of Raja Raja Chora:

Story:

Bhaskar (Sree Vishnu) works in a stationery store for his living but he dupes everyone as a software engineer. Bhaskar falls in love with Sanjana (Megha Akash) who is a software engineer by profession. The duo decides to build their dream home before they get married. To earn big for his living and to make his dream turn true, Bhaskar is into petty crimes and thefts. Bhaskar’s friend Anju (Gangavva) suggests him to wear a crown and clothes owned by her to earn big through a single theft and settle in life. The rest of Raja Raja Chora is all about the hurdles Bhaskar faces in this journey and his equation with Vidya (Sunaina). Watch Raja Raja Chora to know about the twists in this quirky crime drama.

Analysis:

Several young directors have been picking up interesting scripts and they are thrilling the audience with their new-age narration. Sree Vishnu supporting such new attempts is truly a good sign for Telugu cinema. Raja Raja Chora’s director Hasith Goli worked hard on the script and his screenplay, direction will impress the audience though there are minor flaws. Raja Raja Chora has inspiration from the story of Valmiki who is a thief. The director relies much on intellectual sensibilities to narrate the story of Raja Raja Chora which may not appeal to every section of the audience.

Raja Raja Chora is loaded with enough fun and a strong emotional drama. The initial portions of the film are used to establish the characters and they are slow-paced. The first half has nothing much to offer except some sensible entertainment. The interval bang comes as a huge surprise for the audience The first half keeps good expectations on the second half of the film.

The second half of Raja Raja Chora is slow-paced and emotional. The second half of the film relies much on drama and emotional episodes. The climax episodes are never attempted before and they look new. Some of the episodes are dragged as the director wanted to justify each and every role in the film and relate the threads. Raja Raja Chora starts on a funny note and it ends on an emotional note with several boring episodes throughout the second half. The director should have narrated the second half too on a light-hearted note for a better result.

Performances:

Sree Vishnu is magical throughout the film and he is the major USP of the film. He shines with his quirky one-liners and looks perfect in the emotional episodes. He steals the show as a lover boy and as a family man in Raja Raja Chora. Megha Akash is cute and beautiful. Her role was well designed and the chemistry between Sree Vishnu, Megha Akash looks good. Suniana has a new attempt and the actress does her part well. Gangavva adds support for the film. Ajay Ghosh, Ravi Babu, Srikanth Ayyangar and others played some crucial roles and proved their acting skills.

Raja Raja Chora has an interesting plot and the screenplay looks new. The dialogues are good and the quirky one-liners are well penned. The music and background score suits the film’s theme. The cinematography work is good and it supports the mood of Raja Raja Chora. The editing in the second half should have been better. The production values are good and debutant Hasith Goli is decent. He should have focused more on the second half of the film.

Verdict:

Raja Raja Chora is an okayish attempt with a fun-filled first half and an impressive interval bang. The second half has enough flaws and is loaded with emotional drama. Sree Vishnu shines well in this new attempt.

Sree Vishnu back in familair territory

0

Sree Vishnu carved a name for himself by starring in new-age comedy dramas and he scored the biggest hit of his career with ‘Brochevarevarura’, which released earlier this year.

The talented actor experimented around with ‘Thippara Meesam’ and it had a very poor run at the box office.

Sree Vishnu looks deeply disappointed

0

Sree Vishnu has become a bankable star with back-to-back successes. Just as the multiplex audiences have started warming up to his brand of movies, the young actor took 360 degrees of turn with this weekend’s release ‘Thipparaa Meesam’.

The film took low openings. The word-of-mouth is also negative.

The complete makeover of a boy-next-door to a rugged star didn’t do any good if we were to take the first-day feedback into the account. Critics gave thumbs down to the movie for its lousy narration. Sree Vishnu hoped that he would win laurels for his performance. Critics praised his acting skills but also pointed out that he attempted to mimic Vijay Deverakonda. This seems to have hurt him.

Sree Vishnu is disappointed with the wild reactions the film has evoked. He is a highly talented and very humble star. But this is a misstep. He needs to go back to his roots.

Thipparaa Meesam : A tedious watch

Thipparaa Meesam Movie Review

Telugu360 Rating 2/5

After delivering such a decent comedy ‘Brochevarevarura’ a few months ago, Sree Vishnu has done a dark movie, a complete contrast to his image. The trailer has stunned us as it is a 360-degree makeover for Sree Vishnu. Will it be an ‘Arjun Reddy’ for Sree Vishnu? Let’s find out.

Story :

Mani (Sree Vishnu), a drug junkie who works as a DJ in a club, has an issue with his mother (Rohini), he hates her to the core. Still, he takes money from her from time to time. To get himself out from a financial mess he was drawn into due to betting, he demands 40 lakhs from her. She hands over him a cheque that gets bounced. He files a case on his mother. What happens from the rest of the story?

Analysis

‘Thippara Meesam’ has an interesting idea on paper. But the director has indulged in too many of craziest sequences that have made the film hard to watch. Telugu films don’t much explore a hero’s negative characteristics or dark side. Director Krishna Vijay has taken this path to present a degenerating protagonist in ‘Tippara Meesam’ but many repulsive and regressive sequences have made the movie an excruciating bore.

A son hating his mother for putting him in the rehabilitation center for his drug habits is understandable but his behavior with his girlfriend, his detached attitude towards his sister and his impulsive nature is too hard to digest. His girlfriend is shown as a trainee police officer. How would a police officer fall for the drug addict DJ so easily?

The weird characterization of the hero and the dark elements in the first half put off the mood. Thankfully, the film becomes watchable towards the final moments. But when the hero’s character itself is too dark and negative, how would one get connect to it?

The film should have a crispier. This same story would have made bearable watch if it was more focused on the mother-son sentiment and less about the hero’s bad characterization. It is more like an attempt to provide a platform for Sree Vishnu to showcase his intense acting skills.

With slow narration and hardly any bright moment, it frustrates us.

Coming to the performances, Sree Visnu’s performance is the highlight. He has given his career-best act. He has put in all his efforts. Terrific makeover it was. He is good as a bad person and also effective in the emotional climax part. Rohini as the mother is the pillar of the movie. Banerjee as a hero’s uncle and Josh Ravi as his friend are good.

Technically, the film has good cinematography and decent music.

Positives:

  • Sree Vishnu’s performance
  • Climax portion

Negatives:

  • Tedious first half
  • Hero’s repulsive characterization
  • Slow pace
  • Lack of romantic scenes or bright elements

Verdict:

‘Thippara Meesam’ makes a tedious watch with its dragged on narration and dark mood. Sree Vishnu shines as an actor once again but his characterization is regressive to sit through. Except for his performance and climax portions, this film makes an unpleasant watch.

Sree Vishnu to increase remuneration now

0

Young actor Sree Vishnu is still asking the same remuneration from the producers even though his previous film became a good hit. He has dismissed the reports that he hiked the paycheck. The success of ‘Brochevarevarura’ has not changed my attitude, he said. Interestingly, he has plans to increase the salary if his upcoming release ‘Thipparaa Meesam’ becomes a hit.

“I have signed three films after the release of Brochevarevarura for the same price I used to take. Not a single penny was increased. I will ask more if this film also brings profits to all the parties,” he said while interacting with the media.

Sree Vishnu doesn’t believe in the adage of making a while sun shines. He follows the policy of slow and steady wins the race.

Will Sree Vishnu cement his place with Thippara Meesam?

0

Sree Vishnu is one of the talented actors of Telugu cinema among youngsters. Though his films received critical acclaim, most of the films fell short in raking decent theatrical revenues. The actors’ last film Brochevarevaru Ra ended up decent and Sree Vishnu pinned all his hopes on Thippara Meesam which is hitting the screens tomorrow. The trailer that was out recently looked raw and intense. Sree Vishnu plays a spoiled brat who is quite angry and is not bothered about society and his family.

Though the trailer hints that the film has similarities with Arjun Reddy, Sree Vishnu is quite confident about Thippara Meesam. He believes that the film will end up as a huge money-spinner and rake decent revenues. During his recent media interaction, Sree Vishnu said that Thippara Meesam is the best work of him till date. The film is directed by Krishna Vijay L and is produced by Rizwan Entertainments. Hope, Thippara Meesam emerges a winner and cements Sree Vishnu’s position in Telugu cinema establishing a decent market for the actor.

Brochevarevarura Review – Youthful Entertainer !

Brochevarevarura Review

Telugu360 Rating 3/5

Story :

Brochevarevarura has two storylines which are shown in parallel interlocking fashion. First story line is between an aspiring director and a cinema heroine. Second storyline follows three joyful youngsters who are friends. A wannabe director Vishal ( satya dev) tries to rope in heroine Shalini ( Nivetha pethuraj) for his debut film. He narrates script to her, she starts liking the script as well as vishal. In the second story , Rahul ( Sree Vishnu), Rocky ( Priyadarsi ) and Rambo ( Rahul Ramakrishna ) become friends with Mitra( Nivetha Thomas ) – their college mate. These two stories take an unintentional crime turn and interlocked towards the middle of the film .

Rest of the film shows how the three Friends bail out Mitra from her troubled family life

Analysis

Director Vivek Athreya who debuted with a sensible film ‘Mental Madhilo’ , surprises with his second film ‘Brochevarevarura’ which is a contrasting one to the first. This film is an out and out comedy themed one with interlaced crime element. Core story is based on four intermediate college students Rahul, Rocky, Rambo and Mitra. A sense of Déjà vu for the college scenes is inevitable, however movie fails to maintain the grip in second half. Liberal usage of expletives between the friends in second half will be liked by youth but may find difficult for family audience to receive. In general, crime thrillers are meant for a bit puzzle for brain, but in this film it is more lighter vein and oversimplified. There are no special duets , but bit songs come as backdrop ones.

The director – heroine thread is passive and no reasoning has been established why the heroine likes the director. The climax is weak part of the film. Production values could have been better. Director Vivek Athreya has done a decent work with screenplay, but direction in second half could have been better performances. Sree Vishnu , Priyadarsi and Rahul Ramakrishna as usual excelled with their comedy timing. Heroines Nivetha Thomas, Nivetha Pethuraj are performed adequately.

Positives:

  • Dialogues between the three friends are hilarious
  • Simple crime storyline
  • First half twist at interval block
  • Uncensored version in USA with liberal dose of expletives (used in funny manner)

Negatives:

  • Story appears too cinematic at times
  • Patchy second half, Weak climax
  • Not aimed for family audience

Verdict:

‘Brochevarevarura’ is a simple story filled with good amount of fun and light dose of crime theme. SreeVishnu ,Priyadarsi and Rahul Ramakrishna trio thread is energetic , their dialogues are quite natural. On flip side , second half is too flat at times with a weak climax. Overall , a decent entertainer which may appeal to youth.
