Why Jagan is silent on Viveka murder, Sharmila asks

0

AP Congress president Y S Sharmila on Saturday asked chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy why he is silent on the murder of his uncle Y S Vivekananda Reddy. She also questioned Jagan Mohan Reddy for giving ticket to Y S Avinash Reddy who was one of the accused in the Vivekananda Reddy murder.

Speaking to media persons at Kadapa after offering prayers in Dargah, Sharmila said that the CBI had included Avinash Reddy as accused in the murder. The CBI had also tried to arrest Avinash Reddy, she recalled.

She wanted to know why Jagan Mohan Reddy is silent on the murder and supporting the murderers. She said that the chief minister was promoting the accused in the murder. She wanted the CBI and the Central government to take action against those who were involved in the murder of Vivekananda Reddy.

She further alleged that Jagan Mohan Reddy had made several promises to the Muslim community in the last five years. He said that Jagan had promised many things even during the 2019 general election. However, he did not fulfil even a single promise, Sharmila said.

She said that only Congress would do justice to the Muslims and every other community. She wanted the people to support the Congress in the coming general election. She asserted that the Congress had been the symbol of social justice over the years.

She blamed Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy for not raising the issue of the steel plant in Kadapa. She said that the MP did not mention the issue at least once in five years in the Parliament. He remained silent on the issue, which had been a core issue for the people of Kadapa, she said.

She promised to complete the steel plant in Kadapa with the Congress forming the government in Delhi. She said that the Congress is the only party which works for the development of every region. She appealed to the people to support her as the MP candidate in Kadapa Parliament constituency.

Viveka murder accused Sunil bail hearing posted to September 8

0

The Telangana high court on Friday posted the hearing on bail petition of Sunil Yadav in Y S Vivekananda Reddy murder case to September 8. Sunil Yadav is the Accused 2 in the murder case.

Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter Suneetha Reddy impleaded in the bail petition opposing granting of bail. However, she accepted the bail petition to Accused 1 Shaik Dastagiri, who admitted having killed Vivekananda Reddy.

The CBI, which also opposed granting bail to Sunil Yadav, told the court that it had found Sunil close to the incident on April 29, 2021 during the early hours. The CBI found it through the google takeout. But the same CBI had admitted that the google takeout was proved to be wrong in its petition on January 23, 2023.

Sunil Yadav’s advocate told the court that the CBI’s google takeout was proved to be wrong and it can not be the basis for denying bail to his client. He wanted the court to grant bail to his client, who is not connected with the murder.

The advocate also found fault with Suneetha Reddy for impleading in the petition as she did not implead in the petition filed by the A1 Shaik Dastagiri. He also told the court that a private petition against Suneetha Reddy and her husband Rajasekhar Reddy was pending in the court. Sunil Yadav’s advocate further told the court that Dr Suneetha Reddy was not a victim in the case but her father was a victim. The court posted the case for next hearing on September 8.

Meanwhile, the court also heard the petition by retired IAS officer Ajay Kallam stating that his statement was misrepresented and misunderstood. He said that the CBI had distorted some of the facts that he had admitted to them. He wanted the relief from the CBI report, which took his statement as witness to the case.

The court had directed the CBI to file its affidavit and posted the case for next hearing on September 15.

Viveka case – Sivashankar Reddy’s bail plea posted to Monday

0

The bail petition of prime accused in former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy’s murder, Sivashankar Reddy, was posted to Monday. The petition came up for hearing in the Supreme Court on Friday before the bench of Justice C T Ravi Kumar and Justice Sanjeev Kumar.

Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter Dr Narreddy Suneetha’s advocate told the bench that there were four petitions related to the case before a different bench. He also told the bench that there were directions from the Chief Justice bench earlier and it was not proper to take up the bail petition now.

Sivashankar Reddy’s advocate intervened and said that this was a different bail petition and should not be connected with the main case. He said that the earlier bail petition of Sivashankar Reddy was dismissed six months ago, and the petitioner was eligible to file another petition now.

Responding to the arguments, the bench told the advocates that it would hear what Dr Suneetha’s advocate wanted to say in this petition. The bench directed Dr Suneetha’s advocate to submit his statement or any references including the directions from the Chief Justice Bench.

It was then Dr Suneetha’s advocate submitted the records to the two-member bench. Justice Ravi Kumar and Justice Sanjeev Kumar told the advocates that they would examine these issues and resume arguments on Monday.

Meanwhile, the case is taking twists and turns both on the investigation side and on the accused side. The investigating agency – CBI – filed its final charge sheet on June 30, wherein it had accused Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy, as A8 in the case. It charged Avinash Reddy as the main conspirator for the murder and attributed political motives.

On his part, Avinash Reddy wrote a letter to the CBI director seeking fresh investigation into the case. He wanted the CBI to investigate impartially and accused the investigating officials of taking the political stand of the opposition TDP.

The Supreme Court also clubbed another petition seeking cancellation of anticipatory bail to Kadapa MP, Y S Avinash Reddy in the same murder. The court said that it would hear both the petitions together. The court also refused the plea for separate hearing on the petitions.

Supreme Court posts Viveka case to July 5

The Supreme Court on Monday heard the miscellaneous petition of former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy’s PA M V Krishna Reddy. It may be mentioned here that Krishna Reddy had filed the miscellaneous petition pleading with the court to treat him as a victim in the Vivekananda Reddy murder case.

He told the court that he had informed the police about the murder and the cases were registered based on his information. Hence, he wanted the court to treat him as the victim in the case and not as accused.

The CBI had closed the investigation in the murder case and had submitted its final report to the Telangana high court as per schedule on June 30. The CBI had questioned several persons during the investigation and named Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy as accused 8 and his father Bhaskara Reddy as accused 7 in the case.

While Bhaskara Reddy was arrested and now is in jail, the CBI could not arrest Avinash Reddy, as he secured anticipatory bail from the high court. However, the CBI had grilled him for several days before naming him as A8 and submitting its report to the CBI court in Nampally of Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, Krishna Reddy approached the Supreme Court seeking his exclusion from the accused list. He wanted the court to consider him as a victim in the murder case. Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter Dr Narreddy Sunitha Reddy also filed a petition in the Supreme Court opposing Krishna Reddy’s miscellaneous petition.

The court said it would not take other issues into consideration but would examine his plea for consideration as victim and not accused. The court had then admitted the petition posted the case for hearing on July 5.

Approver in Viveka murder case booked for assaulting minor

1

Police in Andhra Pradesh’s Pulivendula town have booked Sheikh Dastagiri, an accused-turned-approver in former minister Y. S. Vivekananda Reddy’s murder case, for allegedly assaulting a minor boy.

Acting on a complaint of a woman that Dastagiri had illegally detained and assaulted her son, police rescued the boy from his residence in Jayamma Colony in Kadapa district’s Pulivendula town.

The boy was shifted to Government Area Hospital in Pulivendula. The victim’s relatives and functionaries of ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) reached the hospital. They demanded justice for the victim’s family.

Kullayamma said that she and her husband had taken a Rs 40,000 loan on interest from Dastagiri six months ago. The couple had been paying interest every week. As they could not pay the interest for the last 10 days, Dastargiri took away their son and detained him at his house. He also allegedly tortured the boy.

She said he also threatened them that if they revealed this to anybody, they would have to face serious consequences.

Police registered a case on the woman’s complaint. Dastagiri was also called to the police station. He, however, denied the allegations.

Dastagiri was working as driver for Vivekananda Reddy, who was murdered at his residence in Pulivendula on March 15, 2019. He was one of the accused arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He, however, turned an approver in the case.

Vivekananda Reddy was uncle of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The CBI recently told the trial court that it has listed Kadapa MP Y. S. Avinash Reddy as one of the accused. The central agency has already arrested Avinash Reddy’s father Y. S. Bhaskar Reddy, a cousin of Vivekananda Reddy.

Suneetha’s petition posted to July 3

0

The Supreme Court on Monday posted Dr Narreddy Suneetha Reddy’s petition seeking cancellation of Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy’s anticipatory bail. Avinash Reddy is accused in the murder of former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy in March 2029.

The CBI, which is investigating the case had named the Kadapa MP as A8 in the case alleging him of conspiring with the killers. Avinash Reddy, according to the CBI, along with his father Bhaskara Reddy, had spent time with one of the killers Sunil Yadav, on the night Vivekananda Reddy was murdered in his own house in Pulivendula.

The CBI also accused Avinash Reddy of conspiring for the murder of Vivekananda Reddy, who opposed Aviansh Reddy’s candidature for Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency on the YSR Congress ticket.

After the CBI named him in the case, Avinash Reddy approached the Telangana high court and secured anticipatory bail. Dr Suneetha Reddy had filed the petition in the supreme court seeking cancellation of the anticipatory bail.

She alleged that Avinash Reddy was not cooperating with the CBI in the investigation of the case. She also alleged that Avinash Reddy was threatening the witnesses in the case and prayed for cancellation of the court.

However, the Supreme Court had issued notice to Avinash Reddy seeking his reply for the petition and posted the case for next hearing on July 3.

The CBI court in Hyderabad on Friday authorised the advocates of Dr Narreddy Suneetha with the advocates of the CBI in the Y S Vivekananda Reddy murder case. The court said that either Dr Suneetha or her advocates can assist the CBI advocates in the case.

Dr Suneetha Reddy had filed several petitions including assisting the CBI in the case. She filed a petition seeking the court’s permission to help the advocates of the CBI in the court. The court, after due consideration, asked Dr Suneetha Reddy to either personally assist the CBI or direct her advocates to assist the CBI.

Dr Suneetha Reddy had been fighting for justice in the murder of her father Vivekananda Reddy. She also filed a couple of petitions in the Supreme Court including cancellation of anticipatory bail for Kadapa MP, Y S Avinash Reddy. The CBI had named Avinash Reddy as Accused 8 in the murder case.

Both Dr Suneetha Reddy and the CBI have accused Avinash Reddy of conspiring the murder. The CBI said that Avinash Reddy and his father Bhaskara Reddy have interacted with the murders on the night of the murder in March 2019.

Though Avinash Reddy denies the charges, the CBI had named him in the case as A8. The CBI also said that both Avinash Reddy and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy knew about the murder hours after the incident. The CBI in its latest petition given in the Telangana high court, said that Jagan Mohan Reddy was aware of the murder much before others knew it.

With the court authorising Dr Suneetha Reddy to work with the advocates of the CBI, it is now to be seen how fast they work to bring the case to a logical end.

Judicial custody of accused in Viveka murder case extended

0

A special CBI court on Friday extended judicial custody of six accused in former Andhra Pradesh minister Y. S. Vivekananda Reddy’s murder case.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) produced the accused, including Kadapa MP Y. S. Avinash Reddy’s father Y. S. Bhaskar Reddy in the court, which extended their judicial custody till June 30.

Yerra Gangi Reddy, Sunil Yadav, Umashankar Reddy, Devireddy Shivashankar Reddy, Y. S. Bhaskar Reddy and Uday Kumar Reddy, who are currently lodged in Chanchalguda Central Jail in Hyderabad, were produced before the court as their judicial custody was ending Friday.

After the extension of their remand, the accused were shifted back to the prison.

The court on June 9 rejected the bail petition of Bhaskar Reddy. He was arrested
in Pulivendula town of Kadapa district in Andhra Pradesh on April 16 and brought to Hyderabad the same day.

Vivekananda Reddy, uncle of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, was murdered at his residence in Pulivendula on March 15, 2019, weeks before the elections.

Bhaskar Reddy is cousin of Vivekananda Reddy. During hearing on his bail petition, the CBI had told the court that the MP along with his father conspired to tamper with evidence, leading to obstruction of the inquiry.

The CBI had informed the court that listed Avinash Reddy as accused number 8 (A8) in the murder case.

The CBI arrested Avinash Reddy on June 3 but released him on bail the same day after he completed formalities as per the Telangana High Court order.

While granting anticipatory bail on May 31, the Telangana High Court had ruled that in the event of the petitioner’s arrest by the CBI, he shall be released on bail on executing a personal bond of Rs 5 lakh with two sureties for a like sum each.

Viveka’s daughter argues her case in Supreme Court

0

In a surprise development, late Y S Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter, Dr Narreddy Suneetha, argued her case in the Supreme Court on Tuesday. She had filed a petition in the supreme court seeking cancellation of the anticipatory bail granted to Kadapa MP, Y S Avinash Reddy, in her father’s murder case. Avinash Reddy is Accused No 8 in the case, which was filed by the CBI.

While arguing in favour of her petition in the court, Dr Suneetha alleged that the Kadapa MP was not cooperating with the CBI in the investigation. She alleged that the MP had avoided questioning by the CBI under one pretext or the other.

Dr Suneetha also found fault with the vacation bench of the Telangana high court for not considering the witnesses provided by the CBI in the case. She also told the court that the vacation bench did not take into consideration the arguments of the CBI.

She alleged that Avinash Reddy had the support of those in the ruling party and those in the government in Andhra Pradesh. She further alleged that AP chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy was aware of the murder of her father much before others came to know about it.

Dr Suneetha also alleged that Avinash Reddy was influencing the witnesses and misleading the CBI investigation. She also told the court that Avinash Reddy was threatening the CBI officials and filing false cases against them.

The court told Dr Suneetha that they would not direct the CBI to be part of this case. Let the CBI continue with its investigation, the court said. The court also informed Dr Suneetha that Avinash Reddy was cooperating with the CBI in the investigation and hence there was no need to consider this case.

0

Dr Narreddy Suneetha Reddy had filed a petition in the Supreme Court on Friday seeking cancellation of anticipatory bail granted to Kadapa MP, Y S Avinash Reddy. She requested the Supreme Court to cancel the bail and allow the CBI to complete the investigation at the earliest.

Avinash Reddy is named Accused 8 by the CBI in the murder of former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy in March 2019. The CBI had arrested the prime accused in the case and had named Avinash Reddy as accused.

Avinash Reddy’s father Bhaskara Reddy was also arrested and is in jail now. The CBI alleged that Avinash Reddy and his father Bhaskara Reddy were behind the murder. So far the CBI had named Gangi Reddy as A1, Sunil as A2, Umashankar Reddy as A3, Dastagiri as A4, Sivashankar Reddy as A5, Uday Kumar Reddy as A6, Bhaskara Reddy as A7. It was only two days ago the CBI had named Avinash Reddy as A8.

The CBI further said that Avinash Reddy tried to destroy evidence at the scene of offence and later tried to influence the Pulivendula police not to book a case on the murder. The CBI also alleged that Avinash Reddy had influenced the local police not to insist on taking Vivekananda Reddy’s body for post-mortem.

However, Avinash Reddy denied these charges and approached the Supreme Court from where he approached the Telangana high court. He got anticipatory bail from the court.

Dr Suneetha Reddy wanted the Supreme Court to cancel the bail. The Supreme Court on Friday took up the petition and posted it to June 13 for hearing.

TDP seeks review of probe by CBI director in Viveka murder case

0

Chief Minister, Jagan Mohan Reddy, is a master in manipulating the systems and the relief to both Jagan and YSRCP MP, Avinash Reddy, is only temporary, felt TDP politburo members, Bonda Umamaheswara Rao and Varla Ramaiah, on Wednesday.

Talking to media persons the TDP politburo members felt that the common man is now expressing the doubt whether the CBI’s assiduous task all through has gone waste before the influence and power of Jagan.

No doubt, the repeated visits of Jagan to New Delhi have turned out to be successful and the TDP really appreciates the Chief Minister, Bonda said.

Observing that it is nothing new for the YSRCP to manage the systems, Bonda Uma recalled as to what was the ultimate result in the case of Gali Janardhan Reddy and what happened to the then judge of the CBI special court, Pattabhirama Rao.

Advisor to the government,Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, who certified Avinash Reddy as innocent, should ask the grandsons of Vivekananda Reddy, as to who killed their grandfather. Only then the facts will be revealed, Bonda Uma felt.

Stating that the murder case of Vivekananda Reddy has created sensation across the country, Bonda Uma said that the whole country believed that the culprits will be brought to book.

The CBI gathered the evidence that all the accused were sitting at the residence of Avinash on March 14, 2019 evening and how the sickle was brought from Kadiri, he said, adding that the CBI even gathered complete information on the phone call list of Avinash.

“The CBI has gathered all the evidence and we are sure that the culprits can not escape. No doubt Jagan is a master in managing the systems. Soon after the judgment was pronounced by the Telangana High Court, the media conference addressed by Sajjala and the Praja Darbar held by Avinash are evident of this.

After studying the bail appeal of Avinash, the common opinion is that the Section 302 Indian Penal Code (IPC) be reviewed,” Bonda Uma remarked.

Varla Ramaiah said that though Jagan has failed miserably as the Chief Minister but he is successful in saving Avinash. Just because he got bail in the murder case, it does not mean that he is innocent, Ramaiah stated.

The TDP politburo member is of the opinion that the Section 302 IPC should be reviewed and made as a bailable Section by simply serving notices under 41A.

Ramaiah demanded the CBI Director to review the investigation conducted in this case from the beginning and said that the agency lost its credibility. The TDP politburo member also appealed to the Supreme Court to review the judgment in this case.

Telangana HC grants conditional bail to Avinash Reddy

2

The vacation bench of the Telangana high court on Wednesday granted anticipatory bail to Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy in former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy’s murder.

However, the court told the MP to be available for the CBI for questioning on every Saturday between 10 am and 4.15 pm.

The Court also told the MP not to leave the country without prior information to the CBI and without its prior permission.

The court refused to give permission to the CBI for custodial interrogation of the MP in the case.

The CBI had accused Avinash Reddy of conspiring the murder and paying Rs 4 crore to the accused, who executed the murder.

The CBI also alleged that Avinash Reddy’s family had political rivalry with Vivekananda Reddy who opposed giving Kadapa MP ticket from the YSR Congress Party to Avinash Reddy in 2019, leading to the latter’s murder.

The CBI also alleged that Avinash Reddy was on WhatsApp call on the night the murder took place.

Similarly, one of the prime accused, Anil Yadav, was found to be in the house of Avinash Reddy on the same night they killed Vivekananda Reddy.

The CBI produced the Google Take documents to show that the accused was in the house of Avinash Reddy.

The CBI also told the court that investigation by them would not go as desired by Avinash Reddy.

However, Avinash Reddy denied the allegations and alleged that the CBI was trying to fix him in the case to please his political rivals.

CBI seeks custodial interrogation of Avinash Reddy

The CBI on Friday filed an additional affidavit in the Telangana high court during arguments on anticipatory bail petition of Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy, who is accused in the former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy murder.

Avinash Reddy’s counsel and Suneetha Reddy’s counsel presented their arguments in the court on Friday. The CBI would present its arguments on Saturday.

The CBI said that Avinash Reddy was not cooperating with them for interrogation. The CBI further said that the MP was not cooperating with them and not even attending the questioning. They wanted the court to give permission to take Avinash Reddy into custody and question him.

The CBI said that it had to complete the investigation by June 30 and it was not possible unless Avinash Reddy cooperated. The CBI said that they have gone to Kurnool to take Avinash Reddy into custody. The CBI further said that Avinash Reddy was on WhatsApp call from 12.27 to 1.10 in the night on the day Vivekananda Reddy was killed. However, it is not known who was on the other side of the WhatsApp call, the CBI said.

Tension prevailed in Kurnool town of Andhra Pradesh on Monday with the CBI officials reaching the town to arrest Kadapa MP, Y S Avinash Reddy, in the former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy’s murder.

The MP did not attend the questioning by the CBI stating the health condition of his mother, who was admitted into a private hospital in Kurnool. The MP wrote a letter to the CBI the other day that he would not be able to attend the questioning as his mother’s health condition is serious.

Following this, the CBI officials reached Kurnool town and enquired about the situation. They also visited the hospital where Avinash Reddy’s mother is being treated. His father, Bhaskara Reddy is serving the judicial remand in the same case.

The CBI officials have also reportedly met Kurnool district SP and reviewed the law-and-order situation in the event of Avinash Reddy being arrested. The CBI officials have also reportedly told the SP to send a message to Avinash Reddy to surrender to them to avoid being arrested.

The CBI officials met the SP for a second time and reportedly asked for additional police forces to be given to them to arrest the MP. The SP had reportedly sought time from the CBI officials as he had to consult the DGP.

Sources say that the CBI officials are weighing the idea of seeking central protection forces to help them in Kurnool, if they have to arrest the MP.

Meanwhile, the MP had written a letter to the CBI seeking time till May 27 to attend the questioning. He told the officials that he has to take care of the health of his mother and would require time to be around his mother.

Viveka murder case: CBI issues fresh notice to Kadapa MP Avinash Reddy

0

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) issued a fresh notice to Kadapa MP Y. S. Avinash Reddy on Saturday, a day after he skipped interrogation in the murder case of former Andhra Pradesh minister Y. S. Vivekananda Reddy.

The central agency has directed the MP to appear at its regional office in Hyderabad at 11 a.m. on May 22

The MP, who was to appear before the CBI on Friday, had left Hyderabad for his home town of Pulivendula in Andhra Pradesh’s Kadapa district amid high drama.

There were reports that some CBI officials followed his vehicle. Irked over the media vehicles chasing them, some followers of Avinash Reddy had attacked a vehicle of a Telugu news channel.

The lawyers of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MP had informed the CBI that he will be unable to appear before it as his mother had taken ill and he had to rush to Pulivendula. They requested the agency to give another date.

The MP on Friday evening reached Kurnool where his mother was admitted to a private hospital. He remained at the hospital with the mother on Saturday.

This was the second time in a week that Avinash Reddy has skipped the CBI questioning. The MP, who is cousin of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, had not appeared before the central agency on May 16.

Stating that he has pre-scheduled engagements in his parliamentary constituency, he had conveyed to the CBI that he was unable to appear at the short notice.

Avinash Reddy, who was in Hyderabad, had left for Pulivendula.

However, the same day the CBI issued him a fresh notice, directing him to appear at its regional office in Hyderabad at 11 a.m. on May 19.

The Supreme Court on May 17 refused to entertain the plea of Avinash Reddy for an urgent hearing on his petition seeking a direction to Telangana high court to grant him anticipatory bail.

The Kadapa MP, who was already questioned four times by the CBI, had last month approached Telangana High Court for anticipatory bail.

Vivekananda Reddy, brother of former chief minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, uncle of Jagan Mohan Reddy, was murdered at his residence in Pulivendula on March 15, 2019, weeks before the elections.

Last month, the CBI arrested Avinash Reddy’s father Y. S. Bhaskar Reddy. The agency told the court during the hearing on multiple occasions that Bhaskar Reddy, Avinash Reddy and their follower Devireddy Shiva Shankar Reddy hatched a conspiracy to murder Vivekananda Reddy as he had opposed the Kadapa Lok Sabha ticket to Avinash Reddy.

Avinash Reddy has denied the allegations against him and his father and alleged that the CBI ignored several key facts in the case.
