Will Jagan stay in Amaravati if he loses the polls in 2024?

2

BJP Rajya Sabha member GVL Narasimha Rao on Saturday asked whether chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy will stay in Amaravati if he loses the 2024 general election. Speaking to media persons in Vijayawada, Narasimha Rao said that Jagan Mohan Reddy had destroyed the state in the last three and a half years.

He said that the IT sector in the state was destroyed under Jagan Mohan Reddy regime. Andhra Pradesh is nowhere in the IT sector, he added. He questioned why the state government was not working to bring new investments to the state.

The BJP leader accused the TDP and YSR Congress leaders of speaking about Andhra Pradesh only if they are in power. He said that these leaders would reside in Telangana if they lost power.

Referring to Jagan Mohan Reddy’s statement that he would stay in Andhra Pradesh unlike other leaders who are staying in Hyderabad, the BJP leader said that Jagan had said the same thing about Amaravati. However, after winning the 2019 election, Jagan had changed his stand on Amaravati with a three capitals plan, he said.

The BJP leader asked Jagan Mohan Reddy to give in writing that he would stay in Amaravati or Andhra Pradesh if his party loses power in the next election.

The BJP MP said that the regional party leaders were power hungry and had no plans to develop the state or work for the people. He wanted the people to keep these regional parties away and support the BJP for the overall development of the state.

BJP MP claim Modi’s magic in AP in 2024 poll

0

The BJP leaders from Andhra Pradesh claimed that the state was moving slowly towards the BJP, particularly after the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the state. The leaders said that the magic of Modi would start working from the 2024 elections and soon the party in alliance with the Jana Sena would form the government.

BJP Rajya Sabha member, G V L Narasimha Rao, said that the political situation in Andhra Pradesh was fast changing after Modi’s visit to Visakhapatnam. The BJP and the Jana Sena together were reaching out to the people and the people too were looking towards the two parties, he said.

He claimed that both the TDP and the YSR Congress were losing the confidence of the people with their corruption and the family rule. The two parties have failed to develop the state, he said and asserted that the BJP as a national party would soon end the family parties’ rule in the state.

He emphasised the need to free the people of Andhra Pradesh from the family rule of the TDP and the YSR Congress. He said that these two family parties were exploiting the people with the leaders amassing huge wealth.

Narasimha Rao said that the BJP is preparing a chargesheet on the corruption of the ruling YSR Congress in the state. The BJP and the Jana Sena would work together to wrest the power in the state from the family parties, he asserted.

Narasimha Rao accused the YSR Congress of indulging in heavy corruption in the state, particularly in the housing programme. He wondered why the government had not started the housing programme even though the Central government had sanctioned 25 lakh houses and is ready to give Rs 35000 crore to the state.

No political significance to Pawan-Modi meet, says GVL

0

BJP MP, G V L Narasimha Rao, has said that there was no political significance to the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan in Visakhapatnam on Friday.

The BJP MP said that the leaders of the two parties were meeting as both the BJP and Jana Sena are allies. “It is a courtesy call and there is no political significance. This visit is only to dedicate some projects to the nation and to lay the foundation stone to some,” GVL Narasimha Rao told the media persons.

He brushed aside all speculations doing rounds in the political and media circles about the meeting. He said it was a friendly meeting and the two leaders would only exchange pleasantries. The BJP leaders also say that the Prime Minister could not meet Pawan Kalyan, during the latter’s visit to Bhimavaram in July this year.

There was speculation about the Prime Minister not inviting Pawan Kalyan but inviting Chiranjeevi to the meeting, where Narendra Modi unveiled the bronze statue of freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju. It was widely discussed that the Prime Minister had invited Chiranjeevi to come back to active politics and had offered Rajya Sabha position.

Earlier, Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy too had offered the Rajya Sabha seat to Chiranjeevi. However, the actor is now focusing only on his films and is not interested in coming back to politics.

Sources say that these talks have widened the gap between the Jana Sena and the BJP leadership in the state politics. The meeting between Modi and Pawan now is only to cement the relations, the sources said.

However, the Jana Sena leaders have not made any comments on their leader’s meeting with the Prime Minister. Even Pawan Kalyan is yet to react to the meeting and reveal what had transpired between them.

GVL says he would expose land grabbers in Visakha

2

BJP Rajya Sabha member G V L Narasimha Rao said that he would continue to expose the land grabbers in Visakhapatnam city. He said he had already written letters to Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan on the land grabbing in Visakhapatnam.

GVL said that the TDP and the YSR Congress leaders have grabbed the government and private lands in Visakhapatnam over the years. He wanted to expose these land grabbers and hence wrote a letter to the Governor.

The BJP MP said that he would continue to expose these land grabbers and would not rest until everyone is exposed. He alleged that some TDP leaders in the past and the YSR Congress leaders now were looting the lands in this peaceful city.

GVL wanted the State government to release the Special Investigation Team (SIT) reports on the land grabbing in Visakhapatnam. He said that the successive governments have appointed two SITs on the land grabbing charges and the two SITs have submitted their reports.

The BJP leader wanted the YSR Congress government to release these two reports and expose the land grabbers. He also wanted stern action against the land grabbers and restore the lands to the government and the private persons as well.

“I will not rest nor allow others to rest, until the land grabbers are exposed and the lands are restored to the original owners in Visakhapatnam,” GVL Narasimha Rao told media persons in Visakhapatnam on Sunday.

GVL Requests Centre to Intervene in Vizag Steel working capital problem

0

Rajya Sabha MP GVL Narasimha Rao met Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Thursday and sought his Ministry’s intervention to end severe working capital problem being faced by Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (RINL) to enable Plant’s full fledged operations.

In a letter submitted to the Minister, MP GVL noted that non-availability of working material, high raw material cost and adverse market conditions have affected functioning of the Steel Plant. This is adversely impacting the financials of RINL in the present year which made a net profit of Rs.913 crore last year.

In addition to non-availability working capital, huge annual interest burden of RINL at Rs.2500 crore due to high interest rates, lack of captive iron ore mines, high cost of purchased raw materials and vacant management level positions in RINL which is hampering decision making process were highlighted by the MP GVL Narasimha Rao in his letter.

Stating that a strong, vibrant, profitable RINL is a major contributor to the economy of Visakhapatnam region in particular and Andhra Pradesh state as a whole, GVL stated that efficient and successful operation of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant ought to be a national priority.

Expressing satisfaction over his meeting with the Steel Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, MP GVL Narasimha Rao stated that the Minister assured him that the working capital problem would be resolved soon and the Ministry will make arrangements for raw material supply to the Vizag Steel Plant on an advance basis. This will be done to increase capacity utilisation of RINL, Steel Minister assured.

GVL Narasimha Rao requests Narendra Modi to visit Andhra Pradesh to launch of central projects in Visakhapatnam

In his letter, MP GVL Narasimha Rao mentioned several central government projects nearing completion in Visakhapatnam. These included Rs.26,000 crore Visakhapatnam HPCL petroleum refinery expansion and modernisation project; first phase of modern, green new campus of IIM Visakhapatnam; Cruise terminal in Visakhapatnam etc.

He also requested Prime Minister to lay foundation stone for several sanctioned projects in Visakhapatnam including the new office complex of the sanctioned South Coast Rail Zone with headquarters in Visakhapatnam; Rs. 400 crore (approx.) GVL opined that Narendra Modi’s visit to Visakhapatnam will bring spotlight on these major developmental projects and help people understand that these projects are initiatives of our Central Government.

On the occasion, MP GVL presented a handicraft idol of Lord Venkateswara to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Shah, NTR might have discussed politics too, says GVL

1

BJP Rajya Sabha member G V L Narasimha Rao gave enough indications on the dinner meeting of Union Home Minister Amit Shah with Tollywood actor Junior NTR in Hyderabad two days ago. Though he did not give a clear statement on what transpired between the two during the dinner meeting, the BJP MP said that they might have discussed politics too.

There is widespread debate on the meeting between Amit Shah and Junior NTR both in the social media and the regular media. The print media had given wide coverage with videos, while the electronic media had organised political debate on the meeting.

The social media had seen several posts making comments on the meeting and making wild guesses. The video clips and the photographs of the meeting went viral in the social media with speculations.

Union Minister for Culture, G Kishen Reddy, said the meeting had no political significance and Shah wanted to congratulate Junior NTR for his action in the recent pan India movie – RRR. However, YSR Congress MLA and former minister Kodali Nani said that Amit Shah would not waste his time meeting people without political interest.

Subscribing to Kodali Nani’s statement, the BJP MP said that they might not have limited their discussion only to the film activities of the actor. “There is no doubt, politics too must have been one of the discussion points in the meeting,” GVL Narasimha Rao asserted.

However, he said everything is speculation and guess work. The actual discussion points will be known only when either of them share it outside.

Well, there is no scope for Amit Shah to reveal the subject or share his feelings with anyone after his meeting with the Tollywood actor. However, Junior NTR is expected to share at least some points with his close friends or the Nandamuri family members may be later, if not now.

We have to wait for the right time for Junior NTR to break his silence on the meeting with the Union Home Minister, the number two in command in the country these days!

GVL writes to railway minister for withdrawal of Tuni cases

1

BJP Rajya Sabha member G V L Narasimha Rao on Friday wrote a letter to Union Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw, requesting him to close the cases against Kapu leaders in the Tuni incident held in 2016.

The MP said that the Kapu leaders have organised Kapu Garjana Mahasabha in Tuni in 2016. He said that the State government had withdrawn the cases against the Kapu leaders. The government had in 2016 registered 51 cases against the Kapu leaders, including five cases filed by the Government Railway Police.

The railway minister in Rajya Sabha said that the Central government also withdrew the five cases filed by the railway police against the Kapu leaders.

While thanking the Union Minister, the BJP MP said that the acts of arson, damage to railway property, setting Ratnachal express on fire were not at all done by leaders and members of the Kapu Garjana Mahasabha, were acts by criminal elements who were there to give a bad name to the agitation and its leaders. These facts were widely known to the public and even reported in the media at that time.

Kapu leaders who have been accused under various sections in the above cases have hugely suffered physically, mentally and financially in the past six years for criminal acts of some other unscrupulous individuals.

Veerraju-GVL fall silent on repoll demand in Tirupati

BJP AP President Somu Veerraju, party MP GVL Narasimha Rao and Rayalaseema leader Vishnuvardhan Reddy did active campaigning till the last day of electioneering in Tirupati. But, on the polling day and after, their voices were not to be heard from anywhere. They did not pass any comments on the allegations of bogus voters brought by the YCP from outside. They also remained silent on the Opposition demand for repoll in Tirupati.

However, at long last, BJP ally Jana Sena Party has released an official statement saying that they have not seen such an organised rigging before. JSP Political Affairs Committee Chairman Nadendla Manohar strongly objected to the manner in which fake voters arrived in large numbers and cast bogus votes all over the constituency. Spelling out the party line, he has demanded repoll. BJP nominee Ratna Prabha has also urged for repolling amid security given by the Central forces.

Usually, Veerraju and GVL Narasimha Rao make serious allegations whenever other parties hurt the prospects of the BJP candidates. This time, they have maintained silence. Being an MP, GVL did not even try to complain to the Central Election Commission about the violations in Tirupati.
As a result, the demands raised by Nadendla and Ratna Prabha have not carried much weight. As usual, the Election Commission took a lighter view of the TDP and the Congress complaints.

GVL ultimate logic on steel plant agitation

5

BJP MP GVL Narasimha Rao is no doubt an expert crisis manager. But the problem is his logic is missing the people of Andhra Pradesh too often. After a long time, he has now come to the fore once again to make his presence felt in AP politics. This time, he says that all the other parties in the State are conspiring to corner the BJP on the issue of the agitation against the privatisation of the Visakha Steel Plant.

GVL has asked why the other parties are running an agitation when the Central Government has not taken a decision to privatise the steel plant. His latest argument is that in the name of the agitation for the protection of the VSP, the rival parties are making needless allegations against the BJP.

One more interesting comment made by GVL is that the VSP stir is also aimed at diverting the attention of the AP people from more important issues. For example, the pastors are bringing hundreds of crores to continue the religious conversions. The Ministers and the MLAs are resorting to constitutional violations. Only to hide their failures, this steel plant agitation is brought to the fore. GVL conveniently ignored the Union Minister’s statement in the Rajya Sabha itself on the VSP privatisation in reply to a question raised by Vijay Sai Reddy.

GVL raises AP temple attacks in Rajya Sabha

0

The temple attacks have stopped suddenly and in a surprising way in AP. This happened only after the Ramatheertham attack became sensational all over the country. The TDP, which has fought a very aggressive battle on this issue, has slowed down to a certain extent because of the panchayat polls. But now, the BJP has brought back the issue once again at the national level. BJP MP GVL Narasimha Rao has raised the AP temple attacks in Rajya Sabha and criticised the double standards of the YCP Government.

Usually, GVL would launch combined attacks on the YCP and the TDP in a bid to create confusion. His attacks would be targeting the TDP more. But this time, GVL made the attacks solely targetting the Jagan Reddy regime in AP. GVL deplored that the YCP rule was filing false cases against the social media activists for just posting comments. Whereas, those who have made over 140 attacks on temples were not caught till now.

GVL told the Rajya Sabha that the AP Government was wasting time by making political allegations against the rival parties rather than properly investigating the temple desecrations.

Ultimately, GVL has made the extreme demand that the Union Home Ministry should take note of the AP temples crisis and interfere there in order to restore normalcy.

Jagan-TDP conspiring to stall BJP entry into AP: GVL

6

BJP MP GVL Narasimha Rao is known for his pro-YCP leanings from the beginning. He had played a big role in supporting Jagan Reddy’s 3 Capitals decision. When there is any crisis for the AP Government, GVL would come up to lend a helping hand to the CM. But the scene has reversed now apparently.

No doubt, the BJP has not got their expected mileage on the Ramatheertham temple incident. Now, GVL is saying that both the YCP and the TDP were conspiring to prevent the BJP from getting a foothold in Andhra Pradesh. Otherwise, the ruling party would not have suppressed the BJP protests at Ramatheertham.

GVL said that in Uttar Pradesh also, the same thing had happened. The Samajwadi Party, the Bahujan Samaj Party and other parties tried all their efforts to stall the progress of the BJP in UP. But eventually all their plans had failed. The BJP had come to power with huge success in Uttar Pradesh.

GVL warned the two regional parties in AP that if they continued their devious plans against the BJP, both the parties would have to face serious consequences in future.

GVL’s hollow claim on Tirupati ticket to irk Pawan Kalyan

1

As expected, the BJP Delhi leaders are giving a real taste of bitter truth to their hitherto highly respected southern ally Pawan Kalyan. Last two days, Senani has been camping in Delhi but no top leader gave him an appointment. This is proof enough that the BJP has already decided to contest in Tirupati bypoll. When such harsh reality is to be conveyed, BJP controversial MP GVL Narasimha Rao came to the fore and announced that their party would contest in Tirupati and there would be no question of giving the chance to the Jana Sena Party.

GVL has cleverly pointed out that the BJP has won Tirupati once in the past. But, the facts are speaking a different story. Considering the Assembly election vote shares, the Jana Sena has polled more votes than the BJP in all the seven segments put together under Tirupati LS seat in 2019 elections.

Moreover, as GVL pointed out, the BJP won Tirupati in 1999. It was mainly because of the alliance with a strong ally like the Telugu Desam Party at that time. Whereas, in 2019 polls, the BJP contested alone without any alliance and got just 16,125 votes as against TDP’s 4.94 lakh and YCP’s 7.23 lakh.

Going by the 2009 election figures, Pawan Kalyan’s claim for Tirupati ticket gains a lot of strength. In that election, the Praja Rajyam Party nominee got over 1.71 lakh votes as against the BJP’s just 21,696 votes. Pawan Kalyan’s party has got near total support of all those voters who voted for Chiranjeevi’s party in the past.

Despite claims by leaders like GVL, Jana Senani is not sparing every chance to impress upon the BJP top leaders. Pawan is yet to realise such efforts would not work in front of an expansionist and monopolistic power like the BJP.

GVL takes swipe at NTR, YSR

1

After calling Priyanka Gandhi and Robert Vadra “Bunty and Babli” of Indian politics, BJP Rajya Sabha MP G V L Narasimha Rao took a swipe at several political figures of the two Telugu states.

He said Andhra Pradesh is caught in the grip of four eclipses (grahanalu) – former CMs NTR, YSR, Chandrababu Naidu and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy. Further, he stated that none of the four leaders can be exemplified as great leaders.

“We have had great leaders like Tanguturi Prakasam, Kandukuri Veeresalingam who sacrificed their lives for the country. But unfortunately we do not recognise them. On the contrary, we eulogise these dynasty families who have ruined the state. The development of the state is paralysed because of the two regional parties,” he lashed out.

Turning his ire against the ruling YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh, GVL stated that the party rode to power claiming to wipe out corruption in the state but mired itself in several corrupt deals. “There is sand scarcity in Andhra Pradesh because of the sand mafia being encouraged by the government. The YSRCP is using corruption only as a card to win votes. Caste politics have turned their ugly head in the state,” he hit out.

Liquor is state subject, GVL reminds AP govt

0

Reminding the Jagan government that the purchase and sale of liquor was a state subject, BJP Rajya Sabha MP G V L Narasimha Rao on Wednesday stated that the Andhra Pradesh government was solely responsible for reopening liquor stores and that the central government gave only few relaxations for the benefit of the states.

Addressing a press meet, G V L Narasimha Rao said the central government allowed only a few relaxations, but was completely against the sale of liquor in light of the spread of the pandemic. However, all the chief ministers, in their meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had appealed to allow liquor shops to reopen as they are a major revenue generating way for the states. The state heads argued that excise duty on alcohol is one of the biggest revenue earners , and banning its sale at a time when other economic activity has come to a near halt has further aggravated the financial crunch they are facing. “The states had asked the central government for the reopening of liquor stores. Liquor sales is a state subject, the YSRCP ruling in Andhra Pradesh was issuing misleading statements that they had reopened liquor sales on the central government’s directive. This is completely wrong and misleading,” GVL said.

Reacting to the AP government’s decision to hike prices by 75% only to discourage liquor consumption, GVL said if the government was committed to eradicating alcohol in the long-term, the lockdown period was not the right time to impose prohibition in the state of Andhra Pradesh. “If the AP government has reopened liquor stores as part of the central government’s directive, why is that liquor has been banned in the states of Tamil Naidu,” he questioned and sought an answer from the ruling dispensation.

The Jagan government from May 4 allowed standalone shops to sell liquor between 11 am to 7 pm. After being closed for over two months of lockdown, a surge of tipplers raided the shelves at liquor stores and wine shops across the green and orange zones. There was utter chaos across the zones.

Persons visiting the shops will have to maintain social distance of at least six feet, but this norm was violated across the state even as the police tried to regulate the queues. Many of the tipplers were seen without masks, a norm for purchase of alcohol.

GVL and Vijayasai silenced by anti-Jagan groups

0

YCP MPs attacked and branded BJP MP Sujana Chowdary as a TDP agent. Consequently, Sujana had no option but to scale down his criticism against CM Jagan’s 3 Capitals decision. On the other hand, another BJP MP GVL Narasimha Rao has been continuing his comments in favour of the AP Capital shifting. This has led to an impression whether the Modi-Shah duo are also in support of Jagan arbitrary decisions despite the embarrassment to the Centre on the cancellation of PPAs of solar power companies.

In a timely counter, multiple attacks are launched against GVL by the CPI and TDP who began branding GVL as a Jagan Reddy agent in the BJP. GVL tried to fight back but he was forced into silence because of increasing criticism.
Now, YCP MP Vijayasai Reddy is defending GVL but it is only sending wrong signals. YCP is apparently alarmed that the only BJP MP supporting it is falling silent at a crucial hour. Moreover, anti-Jagan BJP groups are now bringing forward MPs like TG Venkatesh to strongly counter GVL and Vijayasai.

GVL blaming voters, not Centre, for Jagan misrule?

0

BJP strategist GVL Narasimha Rao is speaking more sarcastically than ever before. Probably, he is planning new strategies for the Centre to wait for some more time till AP gets into deepest crisis when BJP can defame the local parties and gain advantage. Now, responding on AP Capital shifting, GVL says once again that the Centre will not and cannot interfere in the 3 Capitals plan of the Jaganmohan Reddy government.

Interestingly, GVL gave reasons why Modi Circar can’t interfere. He said that it was the AP voters who elected the YCP government and the BJP was not responsible for bringing Jagan to power. So, Modi government need not risk to cross its constitutional limits to help AP people. But, it’s clear that GVL has conveniently forgotten how the BJP played an equally crucial role in giving a huge victory to Jagan in 2019 election. All the central agencies from CBI to IT held raids in TDP leaders during elections. Vijayasai Reddy literally dictated terms to the Election Commission of India. Modi’s past election strategist Prashant Kishore worked at different levels for Jagan success.

Considering above reasons, can GVL deny BJP role in Jagan spectacular victory? Analysts say that it’s not possible any more for BJP to escape totally from the responsibility for AP decline and ruin being caused by zero development and mounting debts. As on today, BJP is unable to defend itself on Capital issue. If Jagan causes greater harm, undoubtedly the BJP will be the second worst hit after the YCP.

GVL failing to prevent anti-Jagan voices in BJP

0

For reasons best known to himself, BJP MP GVL Narasimha Rao has remained a loyal lobbyist for Jaganmohan Reddy during 2019 elections and after. He is the only BJP leader who began talking quite early that the Central government would not interfere with the Capital City issue of Andhra Pradesh. A few days before Jaganmohan Reddy’s 3 Capitals announcement in Assembly, GVL made a passing remark that the AP government is free to made new decisions on the issue of Capital. But, soon anti-Capital shifting agitation reached a peak level. Then GVL maintained a low-profile for sometime. Leaders like Kanna Lakshminarayana and Sujana Chowdary raised their voices within BJP against Jagan Circar. Still, GVL tried to use his influence to win BJP national level support for Jagan but without much success.

Now, Union Minister Siddhartha Nath Singh made it crystal clear that BJP national party would take the same line as that of its AP President Kanna Lakshminarayana. The Minister sharply criticised Jagan Reddy Regime. He even mockingly asked how can AP with 13 districts opt for 3 Capitals while Uttar Pradesh with 75 districts is doing quite well with only one Capital. Siddhartha advised AP Circar to take training from the BJP government on how to run administration effectively and efficiently from one single Capital City. Obviously, pro-Jagan lobbyists like GVL, IYR and Somu Veerraju are only losing their credibility within BJP because of their inexplainable loyalty to YSR son.

Naidu-Pawan duo can’t fire 6-ft bullet from BJP shoulders: GVL

0

BJP national spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao welcomed the latest statement of Jana Senani Pawan Kalyan who clarified that he never severed his ties totally with the BJP. He also welcomed Chandrababu Naidu’s positive comments towards the Modi-Shah leadership. At the same time, GVL cautioned the two regional parties not to dream of taking advantage of the BJP government at the Centre to take their revenge against the YCP.

GVL mockingly used a cinema song line and asked Naidu-Pawan duo not to fire a 6-feet long bullet from the shoulders of the BJP leaders in AP. Instead of dragging their political confusion, the two regional parties should come forward clearly if they have any plans to merge with the BJP. GVL offered to take the initiative positively if Pawan Kalyan takes an immediate decision in this regard.

GVL comments once again triggered political debates. Though he can’t win even a sarpanch or ward member election, GVL is talking as if he is the sole decision maker. GVL latest comments are also seen as favourable more to Jagan than to BJP.

GVL asks Naidu if he is ready to merge TDP with BJP

0

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader G.V.L. Narasimha Rao said on Saturday that if N. Chandrababu Naidu is ready to merge his Telugu Desam Party (TDP) with the BJP, he is ready to talk to the party leadership.

Stating that BJP didn’t need any alliance with the TDP, he, however, said that if Naidu came forward for merging TDP with BJP, he was ready to discuss it with his party leadership.

Addressing a news conference here, he also said that TDP chief Naidu was regretting snapping ties with the BJP because he was scared of the future. He, however, clarified that he was not threatening the former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister.

“But, I don’t know if he is scared after seeing (P.) Chidambaram, (D.K.) Shivakumar and other leaders,” he remarked, referring to the Congress leaders arrested in corruption cases.

The Rajya Sabha member said that BJP didn’t need any tie-up with the TDP as the party lacked credibility and even ideology.

“There is no need for a tie-up with the TDP. It is a defeated party. Why should we save others. We want to emerge as a key force in the state on our own,” said GVL, as he is popularly known.

Claiming that the BJP had helped Naidu become the Chief Minister in the past, he said the TDP President never became the Chief Minister on his own.

“There is no need for friendship with the TDP. What do they have? They had four Rajya Sabha MPs, they joined our party. We don’t need Lok Sabha MPs,” he said.

GVL said the BJP will not become stronger because of other leaders joining the party. “How will our party grow if 10 leaders who lost the elections join us? They are coming to save their own political future,” he said.

GVL’s remarks assume significance in the wake of a recent statement by Sujana Chowdary, one of the Rajya Sabha members who crossed over to the BJP from the TDP in June. Chowdary had said that if Naidu had any proposal to work with the BJP, he would to talk to the BJP leadership.

GVL said this was Chowdary’s own proposal and remarked that since he had been with the TDP for many years, he may have some soft corner for the party.
