Naga Shaurya, Ritu Varma’s Film Shoot Resumes

Hero Naga Shaurya who recently wrapped up a shooting schedule of his 20th film under the direction of Santhossh Jagarlapudi has resumed shoot of his other film with Lakshmi Sowjanya which completed a schedule before the lockdown.

“Production No 8 shoot resumes today in Hyderabad with all the necessary safety measures taken! #StaySafe & Always #WearAMask @IamNagashaurya @riturv @LakshmiSowG @Composer_Vishal @vamsi84 ,” announced the makers.

The shoot of the yet to be titled flick produced by Sithara Entertainments is happening in Hyderabad. Ritu Varma plays Naga Shaurya’s love interest in the romantic entertainer that has music by Vishal Chandrasekhar.

Youngster Naga Shaurya is in talks for half a dozen movies. He is playing an archer in his next and he built a ripped look for the role. The actor is currently holding talks with Trinadha Rao Nakkina for a film. Trinadha Rao who directed Cinema Chupista Mama, Nenu Local and Hello Guru Prema Kosame has been struggling to sign his next. He was in talks with Venkatesh but the project did not materialize.

Trinadha Rao narrated a script to Ravi Teja and got his nod. But the project will not start anytime soon. Hence, he narrated a script to Naga Shaurya and got his nod. Young director Anil Ravipudi will pen the story and screenplay for the movie. Dil Raju will produce this project which will also have one more lead actor.

After Bandla Ganesh was tested positive with coronavirus, Naga Shaurya along with his family decided to move out of the city. With no chance of shoots starting soon, Naga Shaurya along with his family will reside in a farmhouse that is owned by them in the outskirts of Hyderabad. With the number of new coronavirus cases increasing every day, Shaurya and his family decided to move out to a safer place.

Shaurya decided to stay in touch with his filmmakers through phone calls and Zoom as of now. He is not keen to meet anyone and he will not start shooting for any of his projects soon. He is shooting for an untitled film directed by Sowjanya. Sithara Entertainments are the producers. A leading news daily carried the news that all is not well between Mehreen and Aswathama producer Shankara Prasad who happens to be the father of actor Naga Shaurya. While Mehreen alleges that the producers are yet to clear her dues and the hotel bills, Shankar Prasad calls Mehreen unprofessional and the actress did not turn out for the promotions. Mehreen and Shankar Prasad criticized each other and the war reached new heights.

Response from Shankara Prasad: We roped in Mehreen for 30 days shoot but the actress only attended 15 days of the shoot. We paid her the full promised remuneration. She even was not active for the promotions. It is common to hold Rs 10 lakhs of the remuneration till the release and we did the same. We paid Rs 6 lakhs for her assistant who stayed in Park Hyatt. Her food and laundry bills are quite high. We cleared all these dues. When Naga Shaurya was injured, Mehreen was not concerned and she was angry about the delay in the shoot.

Response from Mehreen: My manager Mahendra cleared all the hotel dues after the makers of Aswathama were not bothered. My return ticket before the film’s release was denied and the producer stopped answering my calls. My manager booked the tickets for me and my mom. They named my accommodation bills as food, laundry bills. I even attended the promotions but I was presented as if I did not attend for the same. The producers criticize people in public and they are not much bothered.

Young actor Naga Shaurya is back with new film Ashwathama. The theatrical trailer is a perfect cut and keeps the audience thrilling till the last frame. Naga Shaurya plays a youngster who hunts for a gang who trap women in the city

Story:

Gana(NagaShaurya) likes his sister Priya very much. After being engaged (with Prince Cecil),Priya attempts suicide. She is puzzled, reveals to her brother Gana that she did not sleep with anyone. Upon further inquiry Gana learns that the incident would have happened when she was unconscious. Gana takes up the investigation to find out the culprits. In the process he finds dozens of more women are mysteriously disappearing for few days, dropped back at hospitals. Meanwhile, over confident villain gears up his psycho activities. Rest of the story is how the protagonist tracks down the villain

Analysis:

Ashwathama is a dark film for its serial rape and murders theme. Though trailers are projected this film as a sister sentiment theme, which indeed to an extent, the entire second half is gruesome watch for families. The psychopath villain’s acts are overboard. As a viewer, it is hard to understand the rationale behind the scenes in which villain was shown havingsex with the dead bodies in mortuary. There are many other better ways to show the villain as a psycho without being so terrible. Not just disgusting scenes, but the depicted violence scenes also gore.

First half of the film is pretty ordinary with introduction of the family, followed by taking up society’s burning issue. Fisher-men gang in vizag kidnap the girls to handover to their boss. USA returned Gana( NagaShaurya) takes up the investigation to find out the culprits who might have possibly raped his sister. Mehrene plays his girlfriend and has very limited role. Till interval the film goes on without much trouble but at flat graph. Second half, from crime thriller point of view, is somewhat okay but it doesn’t go well with certain section of audience

Performances:

Naga Shaurya , who often plays and fits lover boy roles, tried a different role this time. As Aswathama inspired character Guna , he did decent work. Jisshusen Gupta is a good fit for the class looking psycho villain role. The lady who played Naga’s sister role is decent, so is prince cecil. Posani Krishna Murali was seen in couple of scenes.
Songs : There are two sister sentiment songs, one duet with Mehrene and another background montage song . All songs are mediocre at the best

Verdict :

Ashwathama is a serious film revolves around a cruel, psychopath villain’s atrocities. The darkside of him might be a bit overboard for telugu audience. On the other hand, the director tried to execute sister sentiment track between hero and his sister.

A golden opportunity for Naga Shaurya

After the super success of Chalo, Naga Shaurya was in a rush and the results are Kanam, Ammammagarillu and Nartanasala. The actor calmed down, worked on the script of Aswathama and produced the film on his own banner IRA Creations. Debutant Ramana Teja is making his directorial debut with this action thriller. Naga Shaurya is trying hard for a mass image from some time and he feels that Aswathama is the right film to reach the masses.

The film was initially planned to clash with Anushka’s Nishabdham which left many in surprise. But with Nishabdham release pushed, Naga Shaurya will have a golden opportunity to prove his mettle. The trailer of Aswathama already generated positive buzz on the film which is a good sign. Mehreen is the leading lady and Aswathama is the story of a youngster who is on a hunt for a serial killer. Aswathama releases next Friday all over.

Aswathama’s ‘family’ is all smiles

Naga Shaurya’s Aswathama will be hitting the silver screens on January 31st and promotions are in full swing for the action thriller.

A new poster of the film was unveiled today on the occasion of Sankranthi and it has a wholesome family vibe to it. At first glance, we can see two families those of bride and groom’s in celebratory mood at the wedding ceremony and they are all smiles. The male lead, Naga Shaurya, Mehreen, Prince, and comedian Sathya are seen in this poster.

Touted to be an intense action thriller based on real incidents, Aswathama has attained decent buzz after the teaser evoked interest with its intriguing theme.

The movie is presently in the final stages of post-production and is gearing up for its release.

Ramana Teja is the director of the film and Usha Mulupuri produced it. KGF fame Anbariv composed the action sequences.
