The film is in the final stages of shoot and Nabha Natesh, Nidhhi Agerwal are the heroines. The makers are left in shock after Murali Krishna, a youngster who is not associated with the movie unit posted the bound script of Ismart Shankar on his Instagram handle.

Puri Jagannadh and Charmee rushed to the cybercrime cops and they responded on time before the script went viral. The cops are currently tracing Murali Krishna and he would be arrested soon. Murali Krishna is demanding a huge amount of money to remove the script from his Instagram page. Puri Jagannadh is one director who shares his script with his team and actors because of which it got leaked. Ismart Shankar is slated for July 12th release across the globe and is produced by Puri Jagannadh Touring Talkies.

As all his recent films left no trace at box office, Puri is struggling to get the nod from star heroes. He was supposed to team with a couple of star heroes in recent times, but his poor track record has impacted his chances badly.

Finally, he got the nod from young and energetic star Ram for a full length commercial fare which is going to kick off very soon. Reportedly, Puri’s final draft has been approved by Ram and the project is likely to start rolling in December. This is the first time Puri and Ram are going to work together.

The untitled film will be bankrolled by Ram’s uncle Sravanthi Ravi Kishore and Puri’s home banner.

Together they’ve delivered a hit ‘Sivamani’ and a dud ‘Super’. And if our sources are to be believed, it looks like they are set to join forces again. Yes, you read it right. We are indeed talking about superstar Nagarjuna and director Puri Jagannadh. Giving them company in the film would be Naga Chaitanya.

“Puri narrated a story to Nagarjuna before ‘Mehbooba’ released. The actor loved the emotional quotient in it and days after the narration, he even confided in Puri that the story was haunting him. Since he’d be busy with ‘Bangarraju’ after completing Sriram Aditya’s untitled film, he asked Puri to wait for some more time. However, the result of ‘Mehbooba’ might have a bearing on the prospects of this film but as things stand now, it is very much on,” confirmed a source close to the development, while mentioning that it is the same reason why Nag took a special interest in promoting ‘Mehbooba’.

The source further added, “Since Puri doesn’t like to sit unoccupied for long, he might do a film up next—most probably with son Aakash and wrap it in time to be ready to direct Nag and Chaitanya. Nag assured Puri that ‘Bangarraju’, if and when it happens, would be ready for Sankranti. ”

Story:

Hyerabadi Boy Roshan (Akash Puri) and Lahore girl Afreen (Neha Shetty) often recall their past life in dreams. The dreams haunt them even after they grown up. Roshan helps Afreen who is in Hyderabad to pursue higher studies and they start liking each other. Afreen parents bring her back to hometown in Lahore.

Meanwhile in an interesting scene, Roshan comes to know that Afreen’s past life is real. The previous birth’s roles of them are interesting. Why they could not fulfill their dreams in the past life etc forms the remaining story

Performances:

Akash Puri is impressive with his performance; his dialogue diction is also good. However, he looks too young as a soldier. Akash has good future if continue work hard. Neha Shetty as Afreen looks cool but not so good in past life role. Murali Sharma, Sayaji Shinde and other character artists are adequate

Analysis :

Puri Jagan’s hero characters are often designed to behave with attitude and irresponsibility. Contrary to this practice, he designed Roshan (Akash Puri) character with conviction for entire first half. The secular tone yet patriotic attitude is well balanced. The past life story of the lead couple is interesting. Proceedings after revealing the past life have gone out of order.

Majority of the film has been shot in real locations with lot of hardwork. War episodes CGI has been well done. Production values by Puri Touring talkies and Puri Connects are very good. Few scenes reflect Bollywood range production.

On flip side, once the story of previous birth has been revealed … Roshan travels to Pakistan to bring Afreen back. From then onwards the film is too artificial and over the top. The stretchy climax tests the patience.

Puri Jagan’s direction lack any punch nor Wow factor. The problem is with the artificial story he picked. However, he must be appreciated for not inserting unwanted comedy tracks, vulgar words

Technical Aspects :

Cinematopgraphy by Vishnu Sarma, editing by Junaid Siddiquii are top class. Sandeep Chowta ‘s music is good in one or two songs and background score is just ok.

Verdict:

The premise, narration and production design of Mehbooba are ‘region and language’ free, it can be shown to any group of audience of the subcontinent. Director Puri Jagan has put his radical approach and tried to deliver an honest love story but succeeded only partially. First half is average, second half picks up impressively but towards the climax the movie goes down the hill.

Balakrishna is currently working for VV Vinayak’s movie after which he will start shooting for NTR’s biopic. Puri is in plans to direct Balakrishna once the actor wraps up all these commitments.

Last year, there were reports that dashing director Puri Jagannadh will helm Victory Venkatesh’s prestigious 75th film. However, the project was put on the back burner due to unknown reasons and both Puri and Venky got busy with other commitments. Later, there were reports that the project has been completely shelved.

Now, the combination is back in news. Venky was supposed to team up with Teja for an interesting film. But, it is heard that Teja has decided to complete NBK’s NTR biopic before working with Venky.

Reportedly, Venky is keen on working with Puri. Sources in industry believe that the duo are likely to join hands very soon. Puri is currently occupied with Mehbooba, which has his son in the lead.

Unperturbed by the failure of ‘Paisa Vasool’, director Puri Jagannath has already announced his next project, a film starring his son Akash Ouri. Unlike the commercial masala films he churns out one after other, this one is going to be a ‘Love Story’ as revealed by Puri.

The crazy director who had once made a trendsetting love story, ‘Idiot’, is planning to make a love story which is set against India vs Pakistan backdrop with his son playing the hero. We hear that it is the love story of an Indian boy and a Pakistani girl, and it takes place near the border. Puri has three stories ready with him but he is inclined towards this India-Pak story only.

‘Its been a long time since I have done a complete love story. I have now prepared a pure love story for my son. This is based on a different point, and it is an honest love story,’ Puri divulged.

While Puri is busy assembling the crew, his friend Charmee has taken the responsibility of selecting the female lead. She has already auditioned a few girls and conducted photo shoots for some through Puri Connects. A final call hasn’t yet been taken. Meanwhile, Puri has roped in the very talented Sandeep Chowta to score music for his son’s film.

We have to see whether Puri has written a full-baked script at least for his son.

Nandamuri Balakrishna seems not to be bothered about the final result of Paisa Vasool which has been directed by Puri Jagannadh. Balakrishna’s performance has been widely applauded and Puri has been completely successful in presenting the actor in a never seen avatar. However the predictable plot and the outdated narration left Puri badly criticized. However the duo is all set to team up together once again and the film will start rolling from January 2018.

Puri however revealed that he is yet to narrate the script to Balakrishna but the duo decided to work together. Puri will be ready with the draft in the next couple of months after which the pre-production work will kick start. V Anand Prasad who bankrolled Paisa Vasool is expected to produce the film too. The movie will hit the screens post summer during next year. Balakrishna also signed a film for Boyapati Srinu which will start during the second half of 2018.

Package deals to Directors – The peril to TFI.

‘Package Deal’ – this is the term exploited the most by once-top directors. When these directors hit rough patch, they can’t command the remuneration they used to get in their hey days. In such scenarios, instead of slashing their remuneration, they opt for ‘package deals’, which is proving to be an insidious trend.

Take the case of Puri Jagannath-Balayya’s ‘Paisa Vasool’. The director was allotted Rs 35 budget (including remunerations and excluding publicity) to wrap up the film. Puri wasn’t given a fixed remuneration, and his total pay would be as much as he could save from those 35 Cr.

The makers boasted of wrapping up the film in 78 working days. Finishing a top hero’s film in such short time is a feat that no one but only Puri can accomplish. Movie lovers may think it is because of Puri’s jet speed of film making but those who understand the intricacies of film making, know very well that the accomplishment is a result of director having his eye on money only.

Puri is an expert in utilizing package deals. In Paisa Vasool, except Shriya and Ali, there were no other big names. Even the crew wasn’t much demanding. Three songs were canned in the sets only. The unit filmed only chasing sequences and fights in Portugal, which was done over a period of 40 days. And, the entire remaining film was shot over less than 40 days in sets in Hyderabad. No wonder audiences were shocked at the film’s quality.

Buzz in film cirlces is that Puri took away home no less than Rs 10 crore with Paisa Vasool. In such case, ‘Paisa Vasool’ title is more apt to the director than the film. The producer isn’t complaining as he recovered his investment in the form of film’s decent pre-release business. We need to wait for a few more days to see whether distributors can Vasool their Paisa.

Before getting the nod of Balayya for Paisa Vasool, director Puri Jagannath faced two big rejections, from Megastar Chiranjeevi and NTR Jr. After watching Paisa Vasool, movie lovers say that the senior Mega hero and junior Nandamuri hero were perfectly correct in turning down the mediocre script narrated by Puri. It is heard that Paisa Vasool is the same script that the ‘Pokiri’ maker had narrated to Chiru and NTR.

It may be recalled that before locking Katthi remake, Puri’s ‘Auto Jaani’ was announced as Megastar Chiranjeevi’s comeback film. The project however was called off, and Chiru himself revealed in an interview that he wasn’t satisfied with the second half narrated by Puri.

After the success of ‘Temper’, NTR gave his word to Puri to work with him in another film. Honoring his word, NTR held rounds of discussions with Puri after Janatha Garage. The director however couldn’t convince the actor with his scripts, the subject of ‘Paisa Vasool’ was one of them.

Balayya on the other hand gave his nod to Puri even without listening to the story. He was so impressed by the hero’s characterization that he didn’t bother about the story, which is a rehash of Puri’s earlier movies, mainly ‘Pokiri’.

Now, as ‘Paisa Vasool’ is in theatres, people can understand why the story was rejected by Chiru and NTR.
