Why is Chandrababu upset with party seniors?

1

TDP boss Chandrababu Naidu is said to be mightily upset with the senior leaders in his party. He is said to be angry with the way they stayed lukewarm during the recent attacks on the TDP offices by YSRCP workers. He found that barring Atchen Naidu and a handful of other leaders, no leader of any importance has joined the TDP protests.

He is also livid that the state-wide bandh call that he gave ended up as a damp squib. In many places, the TDP leaders did not take to streets and enforce the bandh. The reports from various districts revealed that the local satraps did not even make an attempt to make the bandh a success. He was also unhappy that the TDP leaders did not have a contingency plan ready even as they were aware that they would be house-arrested.

An angry Chandrababu reportedly spoke to several senior leaders and asked them as to why they remained unmoved at such a critical time. He said they should have shown motivational leadership and inspired the cadre.

.It may be recalled that earlier too, the TDP leaders offered only token protests and left the scene the moment the media clicked their photographs. As a result, the protest programmes called by the party fizzled out. Chandrababu did not want this to happen in case of the protests against the vandalism in the party offices. But the senior leaders were lukewarm to the calls given by the party.

TDP, BJP quid pro quo in Badvel?

The TDP must now be ruing not contesting in the Badvel bypoll. It has decided not to contest as it was not confident of a victory. But it put forth the alibi that it was honouring the convention of not putting up a candidate against the kin of an MLA whose death has necessitated the bypoll..

Now in the wake of the recent attacks on the TDP offices and the arrest of party spokesperson Pattabhi on charges of using expletives for a constitutional head, the party rank and fine now feel that their anger and determination could have found an expression in the Badvel bypoll. Now, it’s almost a walkover for the YSRCP.

A section of the party feels that the TDP should now vote for the BJP candidate to show their anger against the YSRC. They say that the TDP workers should silently work for the BJP. They are also arguing that this would be useful to the TDP as this will give a reason for the TDP to approach Union Home Minister Amit Shah. This section feels that support to BJP in Badvel could be used as an effective bargaining chip for the TDP.

TDP support to the BJP in the bypoll and Amit Shah’s support to Chandrababu would be a political quid pro quo.Meanwhile, former Minister Adinaryana Reddy, who was earlier in the TDP, is said to be in touch with the TDP leaders and is said to have asked the TDP to support the BJP in the bypoll.

TDP leader sent to jail for using abusive words against Andhra CM

1

A city court on Thursday sent Telugu Desam Party (TDP) spokesman K. Pattabhi Ram to judicial custody for 14 days for allegedly using abusive words against Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Ram — arrested on Wednesday night, was produced in Third Additional Metropolitan Court, which remanded him to judicial custody for two weeks.

The opposition party leader was subsequently shifted to Machilipatnam Jail.

After the arrest from his house amid high drama, Ram was taken to Thotlavalluru Police Station.

The TDP leader’s lawyer moved the bail petition but the government’s counsel opposed the same citing several cases booked against him in the past. After hearing the arguments of both sides, the magistrate rejected the bail plea and sent him to judicial custody.

Meanwhile, Ram said he was not beaten up by police during the custody. He, however, denied that he used any abusive word against the chief minister or any other leader and said he was only highlighting the government’s failures.

Ram was arrested from his house by the police on Wednesday night, a day after his remarks triggered a huge backlash from alleged supporters of ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) who attacked the TDP’s central office at Mangalagiri in Amaravati and party offices in other parts of the state.

Pattabhi Ram’s house was also attacked by unidentified people on Tuesday.

Ram’s wife Chandra said he was arrested by policemen after breaking open the door. She said if anything happened to him, the government will be responsible.

According to police, the TDP leader was arrested in connection with a case booked against him at Governorpet Police Station. He was booked under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 153A (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony), 505 (2) (Statements conducing to public mischief), 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) read with 120B (criminal conspiracy).

Chandrababu Naidu begins protest, seeks Centre’s intervention

1

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday began 36-hour long sit-in at party’s central office at Mangalagiri to protest Tuesday’s attacks on party offices and demanded the Centre’s intervention to save the people of Andhra Pradesh from what he called the drug mafia and the undemocratic and fascist regime.

The leader of opposition reiterated his demand for invoking Article 356, saying Andhra Pradesh in its present situation was a fit case for imposition of President’s rule.

He claimed that the TDP never made such a demand in the past and it was not in the habit of making such demands considering the need to overlook stray mistakes by some individuals. “But, the lapses of the Jaganmohan Reddy Government crossed all limits. The future of the whole State and the country is at stake now,” he said.

The former chief minister began the sit-in to protest Tuesday’s attacks on party offices and leaders by supporters of ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP).

The protest with the title ‘fight against state terrorism’ began 8 a.m. and will continue till 8 p.m. on Friday.

He alleged that Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy was growing impatient over the increasing public resentment against his Government’s atrocities, all round corruption and attacks on all constitutional institutions. Tuesday’s attack on TDP main office was not a sporadic, isolated incident but a culmination of two and half years of lawless, anarchic and oppressive regime, he said.

Addressing the party leaders and cadres, the TDP chief reminded the Centre that the dark activities of the Andhra Pradesh ganja mafia was not limited to the State but spread to Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and other States.

Stating that the menace of drugs poses a big threat to the nation, he alleged that cases were being booked against TDP leaders for demanding action against those supplying drugs.

Naidu deplored that the ‘state-sponsored terrorism’ was reaching new heights in the state. “A Member of Parliament became a victim of custodial torture. YSRCP’s own MP Raghu Rama Raju was taken into unlawful custody and beaten up. The Jagan regime made countless attacks on the autonomy of the courts, the Election Commission, opposition parties and general public. Dalit doctor Dr Sudhakar was put to psychological and financial torture till his death for demanding masks.”

Naidu said there was a complete breakdown of law and order in the state. He termed the attacks on TDP offices an attack on democracy. He claimed that the attacks were pre-planned and aimed at eliminating the party. He reiterated that he personally called the Director General of Police but he did not respond.

He said the TDP party leader Pattabhi Ram’s house was attacked and ransacked. There were attacks at several places including party offices at Visakhapatnam, Hindupur and Kadapa. He said TDP offices and leaders were targeted.

“They are saying that the language used by Pattabhi Ram was abusive. Are you ready for a debate on the kind of language used by Jagan and his ministers,” he asked the government.

He said though TDP offices and leaders were attacked, police booked cases against them. An intruder into TDP office was caught and handed over to police but a case was booked against TDP leaders.

Stating that TDP pays tributes to policemen on every police commemoration day, Naidu said the police department was getting a bad name because of few officers.

Senior IAS officer’s re-entry unnerves TDP leaders in Kodumur

0

The sudden reappearance of former IAS officer and a diehard Chandrababu acolyte at the recent party meet has raised hackles in the party circles. The IAS officer in question, GV Ramanjaneyulu, was the former commissioner of municipal administration. He contested from Kodumur in Rayalaseema in 2019 and disappeared from the scene altogether after losing the election. His sudden presence in party meets is the talk of the town these days.

Ramanjaneyulu is said to be quite close to Chandrababu Naidu and even enjoyed an extension after his superannuation. In 2014, he tried for a party ticket for his wife. In 2019, he himself resigned from his post and entered the electoral fray from Kodumuru. However, the local leaders such as Akupogu Venkata Swamy and Vishnuvardhan Reddy opposed his entry and did not cooperate with him in the elections. As a result, Ramanjaneyulu lost the elections.

Since his loss, he simply vanished from the scene and was not seen in any party programme for almost two years. Now suddenly he has materialized once again. Now he has a state level responsibility. He has been appointed as the organizing secretary and the incharge for the Human Resources Development in the party.

Now, his sudden re-entry has left leaders iike Vishnuvardhan Reddy and Akupogu Venkata Swamy confused. They have built the party during the last two years and worked hard to rally round the activists. What is their future If Rmanjaneyulu once again wants to contest from Kodumur again? These leaders are said to be worried about their future prospects in the party. As of now, the party is seized off the Pattabhi issue and there is no one to allay their fears.

Naidu to meet Amit Shah, to sit on 36-hr deeksha!

1

TDP president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu will meet union home minister Amit Shah on Saturday, October 23.

Naidu will complain against the YSRCP government in Andhra Pradesh for resorting to attacks on the offices of TDP and residences of TDP leaders and damaging their properties in broad broadlight.

Naidu will submit evidence to Amit Shah on how YSRCP activists vandalised TDP offices in the state besides residences of TDP leaders and how the AP police failed to act under pressure from the ruling YSRCP leaders and Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy.

Naidu will submit evidence to Amit Shah on deteriorating law and order situation in AP and demand imposition of President Rule in AP as per Article 356 of the Constitution since the YSRCP government failed to maintain law and order in the state and government itself sponsored attacks on TDP.

Naidu will also sit on 36-hour deeksha at TDP office in Mangalagiri, which was vandalised by YSRCP activist to protest against attacks on TDP offices and leaders.

Naidu’s deekha will start at 8 am on Thursday and end at 8 pm on Friday.

After deeksha, Naidu will leave for Delhi to meet Amit Shah.

Has YSRCP walked into Chandrababu Naidu’s trap?

1

On the issue of Pattabhi’s comments, it appears that the YSRCP and the Chief Minister have unknowingly walked into TDP’s trap.  By attacking the TDP headquarters and assaulting the family members of TDP spokesperson Pattabhi, the YSRCP ended up losing sympathy. Now the party is forced to do a lot of explaining.

In fact, it was the YSRCP which started the slanging match. YSRCP motor-mouth minister Kodali Nani used very abusive words for both Chandrababu Naidu and Lokesh. When the TDP tried to object, he became even more bellicose. But, clever Chandrababu Naidu kept his cool and gained sympathy. In the whole process, Nani ended up losing support and even his own party found his comments difficult to defend. So, Nani has been silent for quite some time.

Now the TDP has begun upping its ‘abuse quotient’ with Lokesh, Dhulipalla Narendra and other leaders attacking the YSRCP right left and centre. On the issue of the recent drug seizures in Gujarat and their possible link to AP, TDP spokesperson Pattabhi went ballistic. In a recent press conference, he used unprintable words only to excite and incite the YSRCP. The party reacted predictably and its cadre attacked Pattabhi’s house, TDP headquarters and offices across the state in retaliation.

Now, Chandrababu effectively played the victim card and called up Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He also made Pawan Kalyan to speak up against the attacks. Thus the TDP ended up gaining sympathy. Not just that. He and the other TDP leaders were very quick to point an accusing finger at Nani’s diatribes, which were far worse than Pattabhi’s. Thus, Chandrababu achieved the twin objectives of silencing the loud mouths of the YSRCP and gaining public sympathy. Jagan, the master strategist, ended up losing on both counts.

Is Chandrababu readying up ‘secret weapons’ for 2024?

0

Is Chandrababu bringing out his “hidden weapons” to counter the YSRCP blitzkrieg? Sources in the know say ‘yes.’  Chandrababu, who realises that the TDP is passing through a very critical phase in its existence, wants to bring to the fore his two most ‘potent’ weapons. Chandrababu is already said to have initiated steps to put in place his master plan.

The TDP realises that there are two weapons that he can use to outwit the YSRCP. One is Pawan Kalyan. An electoral understanding with Pawan Kalyan and his Jana Sena will give the TDP the required advantage. In fact, it was the alliance with Pawan Kalyan and the BJP that helped him to sail through in 2014. In 2019, he fell out with Pawan and the BJP and thus could not withstand Jagan’s political machinations. So, Chandrababu Naidu is trying to get pally with Pawan. This could be seen in the Monday’s statement of Pawan Kalyan demanding action against the spate of attacks on TDP offices across the state. Soon after the attacks began, Pawan issued a statement and sought Centre’s intervention.

The second ‘most potent weapon’ to save the TDP is roping Junior NTR. Highly placed sources say that Chandrababu Naidu has already spoken to Junior NTR. Junior NTR has been keeping away from the TDP after he was slighted and ignored by Chandrababu post 2009 elections. But, Chandrababu is said to have told NTR that it was time to bury the differences and save the TDP. NTR is said to have responded favourably. However, his movie commitments might prevent him from jumping into the fray immediately.

Sources say that NTR might campaign for the party that his gradpa launched at the time of elections. TDP sources feel that this surprise weapon will push the YSRCP into defence. The TDP, sources say, is readying its weapons for the 2024.

Exclusion of caste data as unjust as discrimination: Chandrababu Naidu

0

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday shot off a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking the inclusion of caste data in the census.

In his letter, the former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister noted that such a census is essential for the progress of the Backward Castes (BCs).

The BCs comprise the majority of India’s population but are not receiving benefits proportional to their numbers, he said.

The first BC commission, in 1953, and subsequently several other national and state BC commissions had recommended enumeration of BCs in the national census, he noted.

“There is speculation that a caste census would further deepen the social divisions and promote discrimination. However, the exclusion of caste data can be as unjust as caste-based discrimination. Lack of data will only result in inefficient policies and weak implementation of schemes meant for the welfare and development of BCs,” he said.

Naidu said that BCs remain in poverty due to lack of sufficient data, although several government policies have been formulated for their welfare.

Is Kesineni Nani saying “Tata” to TDP?

0

Politicians have different ways of saying “Tata bye bye” . Vijayawada MP Kesineni Nani too has his own way of saying “tata TDP.” The MP, who is estranged with the TDP for quite some time, now appears to be planning to say final adieu.

Kesineni Nani is unhappy with Chandrababu for not addressing his grievances. He wants Chandrababu Naidu to take action against the troika of Bonda Uma, Buddha Venkanna and Nagul Meera. He feels that the troika had marred the chance of his daughter Shweta becoming the mayor of Vijayawada by sabotaging the party’s winning chances. To his dismay, Chandrababu is not responding at all, let alone initiate action against the threesome.

Recently, he has written a letter to Chandrababu saying that he and his daughter would not be available for the 2024 elections. He asked the party to look for another candidate. Interestingly, Chandrababu did not respond even to those threats.

So, on Monday, Nani first removed all the posters of the Telugu Desam from his office – the Kesineni Bhavan. All banners and posters of the party were taken off. The cut-outs of Nani with Chandrababu Naidu were also removed. Even inside the Kesineni Bhavan, all the party flags, posts, photographs and cutouts have been removed. Instead of Chandrababu, now a photograph of Kesineni Nani with Ratan Tata adorns the room.

This is Kesineni Nani’s way of saying “bye bye Tata” with a photograph of Ratan Tata.

TDP troika take Jagan to task over injustice to Prakasam district

1

The three TDP MLAs from Prakasam district have taken on AP chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and asked him about his unfulfilled promises made to the Prakasam district. The MLAs – Gottipati Ravi Kumar, Dola Sri Balaveeranjaneyulu and Eluru Sambasiva Rao asked Jagan Mohan Reddy to expedite the much-needed Veligonda project. They asked him to pressurize the Centre to include the Veligonda project in the gazette notification.

The troika slammed YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for allocating his time only to criticize Opposition Telugu Desam. They said the promised university building and the permanent building for the Triple IT have remained a distant dream. They also said that the government has stopped paying the unemployment allowance. At the same time, all its welfare schemes were coming to a naught because of the rising prices, they pointed out.

The three MLAs have in the past too raised questions about the Prakasam district’s fate. At the peak of the controversy over the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation, these three MLAs have surprised everyone by rushing to New Delhi to speak to the Jal Shakthi ministry about including Veligonda in the Gazette notification. They formed an independent group to protect the interests of the Prakasam district.

The troika also pointed out that the much-famed granite industry in Cheemakurthi of Prakasam district and slate industry in Markapuram were going through major crises. They requested the government to take immediate steps to bail out the industries in the district.

No alliance with BJP or TDP, Pawan wants to go it alone?

0

What is Pawan Kalyan’s next move? This is the question that is being hotly debated in the AP political circles. All the three major political parties – TDP, BJP and even the YSRCP – are watching Pawan’s moves with alacrity. Pawan, who has of late become active on the political front, is keeping everyone guessing.

As of now, one this has become quite clear. Pawan Kalyan no longer finds an alliance with BJP very attractive. He is finding that the alliance has fewer benefits for the Jana Sena. The dalliance with the BJP is adding up to nothing. In the panchayat, municipal, MPTC and ZPTC elections, the party could have done better had it gone alone.

Even the TDP appears to be an unattractive proposition. The TDP itself is in the throes of a crisis. The below-par performance of the TDP in Tirupati, MPTC and ZPTC elections has hit it very hard. Pawan reportedly feels that an alliance at this stage with the TDP may not be beneficial to the Jana Sena. So, he is not considering an alliance at this stage.

Meanwhile, Jana Sena thinking heads feel that the party should go it alone in the 2024 elections. There is a growing section which feels that Jana Sena should project itself as an alternative to the YSRCP rather than an alliance partner of some other party. The party feels that AP is looking for an alternative and that Jana Sena can fill the gap. Even Pawan is said to be of this opinion. It is because of this political reading that Pawan these days is seen as trying to chart out a new course of political action.

Is Atchen Naidu state president or district president?

0

Kinjarapu Atchen Naidu comes from an illustrious political family. His family has been in politics for over 6 decades and worked closely with leaders like Gouthu Latchanna. His brother was a senior leader of the TDP and led the TDP parliamentary party for quite some time. Now, Atchen Naidu is the president of the AP TDP. He was a minister for five years before that.

Yet, there is a lurking feeling among his followers in North Andhra that he is not getting his due. Though he is the state president, he is unable to participate even in small programmes such as party office inauguration. Take the case of the inauguration of the Vizag rural office of the TDP in Anakapalle. Atchen Naidu could have inaugurated this. But, national secretary Lokesh is flying to Vizag to do the honours. Why should Lokesh attend even such small programmes, which can very easily be conducted by Atchen? There is a general complaint that either Chandrababu or Lokesh come and attend the programmes. This only forced Atchen to play the second fiddle.

As a result, though he is the state president, he is forced to confine himself to only Srikakulam district. As a result, his movements are also restricted. Many party workers and supporters of Atchen feel that he should be given more importance in the party in view of his fighting capabilities.

Business interests forcing Jay Galla to go silent?

0

Why has Guntur TDP MP Galla Jaidev suddenly fallen silent? Why is he not active in his constituency? Why is he not organising any programmes these days? Why is he not reacting to any happening? These are the questions that the TDP activists in Guntur Lok Sabha constituency are asking these days. There are also rumours that he is all set to take a sabbatical from politics.

Highly placed sources say that Galla has lost interest in Guntur. Sources say that he wants to contest from Chandragiri assembly constituency, which is his mother Galla Aruna’s borough. They say that he is interested in state politics and has no interest in national affairs. The sources say that in Modi’s regime, political lobbying is not possible and furthering business interests as an MP is not possible. Being an MP was both fashionable and beneficial earlier. But not anymore under Modi rule.

According to some political observers, Galla Jayadev wants to remain low key for some time in view of the attacks on his businesses by the ruling YSRCP. The Jagan government has already closed down his units in Chittoor district saying that they were causing pollution. To minimise the attacks and to protect his interest, Galla has fallen silent.

Interestingly, even Chandrababu Naidu is not talking about Galla Jay. He has neither criticised or backed Galla on the issue of attacks on his business interests. Meanwhile, some say that Galla Jay is planning to move away from politics and focus on his business interests. Let’s wait and see how things pan out.

Chandrababu begins 3-day tour in Kuppam

0

Stung by the string of reversals in Kuppam, TDP chief is on a course correction mode in his home turf of Kuppam. Starting from Tuesday (October 12), he would camp in Kuppam for three days to regain the lost ground. He is all set to meet the party workers and leaders to breathe new confidence among them. During this period, he would also review the party position and the reasons for the electoral defeats in Kuppam.

On October 12, he will address a public meeting in Kuppam. He would also conduct a road show in Kuppam. On October 13, he will cover Ramakuppam and Santipuram mandals. On the last day, he would cover rural Kuppam and Gudupalli. During this period, he would meet old-timers, party loyalists and others.

The panchayat elections, though not fought on party basis, were a wakeup call. Out of the 89 panchayats in Kuppam assembly constituency, the YSRCP supporters bagged 74, while the TDP had to remain content with just 14 panchayats. Soon after this debacle, Chandrababu Naidu stayed for three days in the constituency and interacted with several leaders. This has succeeded in instilling confidence among the voters.

The TDP had boycotted the MPTC and ZPTC elections. But there were party candidates fighting the election unofficially. The YSRCP had won 17 of the 19 MPTCs, leaving two for the TDP in Kuppam mandal. It won all the 16 in Ramakuppam and all but one in Gudipala and Santipuram mandals.

TDP workers and leaders feel that Chandrababu’s three-day visit will breathe new life into the party and will re energise the party. The party workers are making preparations to ensure that Chandrababu’s three-day tour will become successful.

Is there a rethink about Jana Sena in the TDP?

0

There seems to be a rethink among at least a section of the TDP about the party’s plans to lure the Jana Sena Party. While some leaders feel that by aligning with the Jana Sena, the TDP can bring about a Kapu-Kamma detente and win elections in 2024, there are others who feel that this could be counter-productive. There is a significant section of the leadership, which feels that by courting the Jana Sena, the TDP is only ending up making Pawan Kalyan stronger.

A section of the TDP is eager to join hands with the Jana Sena and form a formidable alliance against the YSRCP. But, the YSRCP feels that it stands to gain if the Jana Sena becomes stronger. If the Jana Sena-BjP alliance is worked out, then there would definitely be a three-way contest in AP by 2024. This would cause a three-way split in the votes and thus the YSRCP could romp home comfortably because of this.

Senior TDP leaders like Harsha Kumar are already questioning the rationale of courting the Jana Sena. A two-time MP, Harsha Kumar, feels that Jana Sena will stand to benefit because of the alliance with the TDP. Several leaders are backing him. But, the majority still feel that the TDP will benefit by aligning with Jana Sena as it would bering about Kapus and Kammas together. Kapus are numerically stronger and could play a key role in defeating the YSRCP, they feel.

Let’s wait and see how things pan out by 2024!!

Why Chandrababu is delaying appointment of Sattenapalli incharge?

0

There is a problem that political warhorse and a veteran of many political battles, Chandrababu Naidu is unable to solve. Chandrababu had appointed incharges for 16 of the 17 assembly constituencies in Guntur. But, there is one constituency which he is unable to decide. There are many claimants, but Chandrababu is unable to choose one.

No marks for guessing which constituency it is. It is Sattenapalli constituency. As long as Kodela Sivaprasad was there, the TDP did not have to bother about it. After his passing away, the seat has been without an incharge. There are several claimants. Kodela’s son Sivaramakrishna, former MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao’s son RangaRao, former MLA GV Anjaneyulu have already thrown their hat in the ring.

Meanwhile senior leader Nagothu Souraiah has entered the fray. A native of Turakapalem in Nakarikallu mandal in the constituency, Souraiah has been with the party for over three decades and served in various capacities such as sarpanch and MPP. He has recently met Chandrababu Naidu and expressed his desire to be made the incharge of the constituency. Other leaders like Mannem Sivanagamalleswara Rao of Abburu, who was Telugu Yuvatha leader for eight years, too are aspiring for the post.

Interestingly, Chandrababu Naidu is still weighing the options. He has kept the appointment in cold storage and has been in a wait and watch mode. As he is delaying the appointment, more and more people are throwing her hat in the Sattenapalli ring.

Will TDP accept YSRCP offer on Badvel bypoll?

1

Will the TDP accept the YSRCP offer of not contesting the Badvel bypoll and allow the kin of dead MLA Dr Venkata Subbaiah to become an MLA in his place? Or will it contest the poll as it did in Tirupati? This is the question that is being hotly debated in Badvel now.

Badvel MLA Dr Venkata Subbaiah trounced the TDP by over 44000 votes in 2019 elections. Since then, the TDP has been on the downslide in the constituency. It lost the panchayat and the local body polls. The TDP didn’t do much to redeem itself. But, the party has announced Obulapuram Rajasekhar as its candidate. Rajasekhar had contested and lost in 2019. Will he be able to make a mark this time is the big question before the TDP.

The YSRCP has sent a request to the TDP asking it not to field its candidate. Normally, the convention is that the other parties do not field their candidate in case of a bypoll caused by the death of a sitting MLA. The YSRCP did it in case of Nandigama bypoll. In case of Tirupati bypoll, this convention was not followed as the YSRCP did not field anyone from the family of the dead MP. But in Badvel, the YSRCP has fielded Dr Venkata Subbaiah’s wife Dr Dasari Sudha. But, will the TDP accept the YSRCP request and avoid confrontation or will it field a candidate and test the waters?

As of now, the relations between the YSRCP and the TDP are extremely sour and the TDP feels that the anti-incumbency is crystallising. Hence it feels that it should give a try in Badvel. The YSRCP is well-prepared for a contest in Badvel. A final call could be taken in a day or two. The election notification would be issued on Friday.
