The big news about Ram Charan’s next film is out recently and sensational director Shankar is on board to direct the project. Top producer Dil Raju is polling the resources for this Mega project and is working out on the budgets and other financials currently in Chennai along with Shankar. Shankar responds about Robo Plagiarism controversy

Tamil media from the past couple of days started speculating that a non-bailable warrant is issued against top director Shankar after he failed to appear before the court regarding the Robo plagiarism controversy. Shankar responded for the same and he issued an official statement saying that no such warrant is issued against him. He also clarified that his advocate brought this issue to the attention of the court and the judge confirmed that there was no warrant issued against him.

“I am very surprised to see such false news being circulated without any verification and the same has caused needless anguish to my family and well-wishers. I request this clarification will be carried by all media to ensure such false news does not spread any further” told Shankar in a statement. Earlier to this, a writer named Arur Tamilnandan alleged that Shankar’s Robo has been inspired from his idea ‘Jiguba’ that was published in a Tamil magazine in 1996.

Tragedy struck hard on the sets of Indian 2 after three people lost their lives in an accident that took place recently. The film’s director Shankar had a narrow escape and he was left in deep shock after the incident. Shankar spent several sleepless nights after the accident and posted an emotional tweet expressing his heartful condolences and prayers to the families of the deceased.

“It is with utmost grief, I’m tweeting.Since the tragic incident,I’ve been in a state of shock & having sleepless nights on the loss of my AD & crew.Having missed the crane by a whisker,I feel it would’ve been better if it was on me. Heartfelt condolences & prayers to the families” posted Shankar. The shoot of the film is kept on hold as of now. Kamal Haasan, Kajal, Siddharth and Rakul Preet Singh are the lead actors in Indian 2. Lyca Productions are the producers.

Universal star Kamal Hassan is reuniting with director Shankar after two decades for the sequel to his blockbuster vigilante drama Bharateeyudu. The film has been tentatively titled as Indian 2 and Kajal Aggarwal has been roped in as the film’s leading lady.

Announcing the start of this much awaited sequel, Shankar revealed a striking poster of Kamal Hassan’s look as Senapathi. The image is captioned ‘Older, Wiser , Deadlier’ which hints that the lead character will be more intense in the sequel compared to the first part. Kamal Hassan played dual roles in the first part and Senapathi turned out to be one of the iconic characters ever. Senapathi fights vigorously against corruption and corrupt officials in the government.

Once again, Shankar is going to deal corruption in the present day scenario with this sequel. The regular shooting will commence from tomorrow and the film is slated for release next year. Anirudh Ravichander is going to compose the soundtrack.

2.0 continued to do well in North & decent In Telugu States where as Tamil Nadu continued to be a disappointment.

All India combined, the film has collected a distributor share of 29.5 Cr on third day taking three days total share to 91 Cr.

In terms of Gross, the film has collected 59 crores on it’s third day taking three days all India gross to 173 Cr. As usual, North India has been the highest contributor with 29.5 Cr gross. Tamil Nadu is the biggest surprise for the film has it is underperforming big time. It has collected 34 cr in three days in Tamil Nadu which is just 2 cr more than recent biggie Sarkar’s first day collection. The costs are pretty high in Tamil Nadu as the film has to do at least 100cr distributor share where as it has collected a little over 20 cr so far. It has showed good jump in Karnataka on third day which has taken three days total to over 18 cr gross.

2.0 Final Report :

Shankar and team delivered a Box-office winner in the form of ‘2.0’.

First half is average , second half is good AND last 30 minutes pure VFX Extravaganza ! Story wise not much to rave about , Shankar’s mark in effectiveness or Emotional connect has been limited to Pakshi Raja ( Akshay ) ‘ s flashback and that episode is the soul of the movie.

Background score is of international standard , can be rated 10/10 throughout ; Graphix / VFX work will WOW common audience but it is patchy at times , on a whole satisfactory. Rajini’s charishma has been used in last episodes.

Overall , Given the big names behind and Commercial elements put together 2.0 delivers a boxoffice winner !

2.0, the country’s biggest motion picture landed into troubles after several cellular companies lodged a complaint against the movie for showing the usage of mobile phones in bad light. After the trailer showcased the disappearance of mobiles and the lead antagonist Akshay Kumar calling the people using mobiles as murderes, controversies triggered. COAI (Cellular Operators Association of India) wanted the censor board to re-examine the film in this angle. A close source from the team of 2.0 clarified about the controversy. A limit has been set on the radiation emitted and the film explains how the companies are flouting it.

Sensational filmmaker Shankar is known for his master storytelling and his films have massive scope for VFX work. His next outing 2.0 is made on a budget of 75 million USD revealed the makers and it is gearing up for November 29th release. Rajinikanth, Amy Jackson and Akshay Kumar played the lead roles in 2.0. Shankar during his recent interaction with a leading news portal revealed some exclusive updates about 2.0. Here are some of them in his words:

The total budget of 2.0 is in between 70 and 75 million USD which even includes the publicity costs. The final budget will be figured out later and the makers announced a round figure of 75 million USD as the budget.

We haven’t planned the film on such huge budget and it is because of the VFX work, the budget got heaped up.

About one third budget of 2.0 was spent for VFX work and the film has 2100 VFX shots.

With the budget limitations and commercial boundaries, we have restricted ourselves. Else 2.0 needs much more in terms of budget.

We allotted the VFX work to an American company which ended up bankrupt. It is because of this, the film’s release has been pushed several times.

We then allotted the work to another company which promised to deliver the complete output by January 2018. It is then we planned a grand audio launch in Dubai, but things got delayed again.

After a series of delays, 2.0 is releasing on November 29th. AR Rahman delivered some stunning background score for the film and I was completely satisfied with his work.

Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar turned Superstars because of their dedication and hardwork. They are never late to sets and they work everyday like it is their first film.

Director Shankar is getting ready with 2.0, which is sequel for his earlier movie Robo. He gave an interview to an English Channel and Telugu audience who saw that interview felt whether Shankar is jealous of Baahubali success.

He gave an elaborate interview to English Channel and spoke about several things. When the interviewer asked him about Baahubali, Shankar did not even acknowledge the question and answered it in his own way. It happened twice during the interview. Even when the interviewer asked him that because of Bahubali, market for South Indian movies in Hindi belt is increased, he responded to that question without uttering the word Bahubali. He told, his movie 2.0 will increase the market for South Indian movies in Hindi belt states further.

It’s no doubt that, Shankar is very great director and even Rajamouli acknowledged that he is still mesmerized by the way Shankar uses technology in his movies. But Shankar always compares himself only with directors like James Cameron and his movies with Hollywood movies like Avatar.

When he was releasing Robo in Telugu, Chiranjeevi attended the audio function and during that Robo promotions he spoke a bit about Magadheera , saying it was the costliest South Indian film before Robo and Robo surpassed Magadheera in terms of cost. Maybe when he comes here to promote 2.0 Telugu version, he may speak a bit about Bahubali.

Anyway, if he had spoken a bit about Bahubali in National media, that would have been even more graceful.

Master storyteller Shankar is currently awaiting the release of his long delayed visual extravaganza 2 Point O which is the follow up to his 2010 blockbuster science fiction drama Robot. After the release of 2Point0, Shankar will commence his next project Indian 2 which is going to be the sequel to Bharateyudu.

In a recent media interaction, Shankar revealed that he is once again planning to do another science fiction thriller after wrapping up Indian 2. He clarified that Indian 2 will be devoid of VFX and other visual effects and will be without any graphic work as it will cause more delay to the project.

Shankar also announced that his next film after Indian 2 will be another sci-fi drama with an interesting backdrop. More details about this project are yet to be revealed.

With VFX effects playing a major role in big budget action films, directors like Shankar and Rajamouli had to wait for the arrival of VFX file after wrapping up the final shoot. Rajamouli several times revealed that he spent sleepless nights during Eega and Baahubali as the films had huge dose of VFX work and he had not control on the output of the VFX effects. Now Shankar is facing the same situation currently with his next film 2.0. He wrapped up the shoot of 2.0 last year but the film is yet to hit the screens due to the delay in the VFX work.

Shankar is not new to graphics and VFX as he did wonders during his initial days for films like Jeans and Premikudu. Robo is a visual feast and Shankar received wide applause for his work. But things have been completely tough for 2.0. Shankar allotted the work to a US based VFX company which ended bankrupt after which he approached another company. There has been delay in the VFX work and Shankar recently imposed a deadline to wrap up the entire work by October 15th.

With lot of pressure from the makers and lot of stake involved, Shankar is left sleepless. Over Rs 540 crores have been spent on 2.0 which is named as the costliest Indian film till date. The makers recently announced that the film will release on November 29th. Shankar and his team can release the film as per the plan only if they receive the final VFX output by October 15th. With nothing much to do, Shankar is just waiting for the arrival of the final draft of the VFX work.

Rajinikanth, Amy Jackson and Akshay Kumar are the lead actors in 2.0 which has been produced by Lyca Productions. The film will release in multiple languages in 3D.

Master storyteller Shankar never compromises on quality of his films. He usually takes a lot of time for the post production activities to bring out the best viewing experience. This is the reason why his upcoming film 2Point0 has been postponed several times due to the extensive VFX work.

2Point0, which was supposed to release last year, has been pushed to this year and has already missed out a couple of dates announced by the makers. While there has been a lot of anticipation for film’s release in the second half of this year, it is now rumoured that the delay in VFX and CG work might push the film further.

According to the latest buzz in Tamil media, the film might only make it to cinemas in 2019. However, an official confirmation is yet to be received on this buzz.

The post production activities are happening simultaneously in different countries and the makers are spending a bomb on the technical aspects of the film. Rajinikanth, Amy Jackson and Akshay Kumar are playing important roles in the film.

Shankar’s update on 2Point0 raises further doubts

Rajinikanth starrer 2Point0 is easily the most awaited tentpole film this year. Tipped to be India’s costliest film ever, 2Point0 involves a lot of CG work and VFX effects. The shooting has been wrapped up long back and the post production activities are in full swing in different renowned studios worldwide.

2Point0 is tentatively scheduled for release in mid April. However, Shankar’s latest update has raised doubts on the film’s release.

Shankar updated that teaser work is currently happening in Los Angeles and revealed that the date will be announced once the CG work is done. It looks like there is still considerable amount of work left to be completed.

With just two months to go for April, many are in a doubt whether the team can wrap up the production formalities in time and cause for Summer release. The film was initially supposed to release in January, but was postponed due to pending CG works.

So if they miss out the Summer season, it is going to be very difficult for the producer to find an ideal release date.
