Govt will change in AP too, says CPI Narayana

0

CPI senior leader K Narayana on Monday said that the government would change in Andhra Pradesh after the 2024 general election. He said that a new government would come into force after the elections as was done in the neighbouring Telangana state.

Narayana interacted with the media in Hyderabad, where he said that chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy had failed on all fronts in the last five years. Jagan Mohan Reddy had failed to bring new industries to the state, lay new roads and bring new infrastructure to the state in five years.

The CPI leader said that people have given one chance to Jagan Mohan Reddy. The chief minister had failed to utilise that one chance, he said and added that people are not ready to give him another chance.

Narayana said that his party would contest one MP seat each in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in the coming elections. However, he did not say where the party would contest the Parliament elections.

He maintained that the party would look for alliances in Andhra Pradesh. The CPI is looking at the TDP for alliance. In fact, the two Left parties are looking at the TDP for alliance this time.

In the last elections, the Left parties have aligned with the Jana Sena and the BSP and have lost deposits wherever they contested. This time, they wanted the TDP to have an alliance with them and give them a couple of seats.

The TDP too is in favour of having an alliance with the Left parties. The TDP is already aligned with the Jana Sena and the two parties are working together to build the alliance. The parties are likely to have a clear understanding of seat sharing by Pongal 2024.

He reiterated that the YSR Congress would go home after the elections and its leader Jagan Mohan Reddy would go to jail. He blamed the YSR Congress for supporting the BJP at the national level. He made an appeal to the minorities to understand the true colours of Jagan Mohan Reddy, who is in the pockets of the BJP leaders.

Jagan imposing heavy taxes on people but not providing basic amenities, says Lokesh

0

Chief Minister, Jagan Mohan Reddy, has been imposing taxes after taxes on the common man but neglecting the major issue of providing basic amenities, said TDP general secretary, Nara Lokesh, on Sunday.

When the villagers of Totada and nearby areas in Yelamanchili Assembly segment met Lokesh during his Yuva Galam pada yatra and brought to his notice various problems they are facing in their daily life, he said that Jagan is more interested in looting the State’s assets than solving the people’s problems. Immediately after the TDP-Jana Sena combine forms the coming government, all their problems, including building an underpass and roads repair problem in their areas will be solved on a war-footing basis. The villagers complained that since the underpass is not available hundreds of people died in ghastly road accidents while crossing the national highway.

Terming the Jagananna Bhooraksha as Bhoobaksha, Lokesh felt that the scheme is meant only to illegally occupy the lands of the poor. “This is a master plan designed to loot the vacant lands of the SCs, STs, BCs and other poorer sections of society besides the government and endowment lands,” Lokesh remarked after visiting the survey stones laid at Totada in the Yelamanchili Assembly segment.

When the villagers of Sirasapalli and Venkatapuram in a memorandum complained that they are facing several problems as the roads are not widened since long, Lokesh said that the condition of roads in the State is so bad that even repairs are not undertaken leave alone laying new roads. The contractors are not coming forward to take up the works as bills for over Rs 2 lakh cr have been pending payment since long, he added. The highway passing through Anakapalle, Totada and Parvada will be widened once the TDP is back into power in the coming polls, Lokesh told the villagers.

The victims of LG Polymers personally narrated the troubles they are facing like heavy pollution in their area and are suffering from various kinds of diseases as they are inhaling poisonous gas, Lokesh said that in another three months the TDP-Jana Sena government is going to be formed and immediately RO Plants will be set up to permanently solve their problems.

The LG Polymers-affected also informed Mr Lokesh that of the 1,100 persons affected with the gas leakage, only a few are paid the compensation for which Mr Lokesh assured them that once the TDP-Jana Sena government is formed all their issues will be addressed. The Jagan Mohan Reddy government has sanctioned permission for this LG Polymers under the provisions of the Essential Commodities Act after it was closed for 45 days during Corona lockdown even without inspecting the unit, Lokesh said.

Lamenting that the State Government has totally neglected the promises made to the affected persons, Lokesh said that within three months the TDP-Jana Sena is going to come to power and soon after that health cards will be issued to all the affected villagers and jobs will be provided to the youth in pollution-free companies.

Lokesh’s Yuva Galam pada yatra entered the Pendurthi Assembly segment where he is given a warm welcome and at Paravada he interacted with the villagers. Stating that he is aware of the problems being faced by the villagers of Panchagramalu, Lokesh said that they do not have the right to sell their own lands due to which they are facing difficulties even to bear medical expenses, perform the weddings of their children and other issues.

Recalling that Chandrababu Naidu as the chief minister of the State tried to regularise their lands by issuing necessary GOs but the YSRC Legal Cell members got a stay from the court on the implementation of these GOs, he said. “Soon after our government is back in power all your issues will be addressed and the disputes on houses and farmers will also be resolved,” Lokesh told the villagers.

Jagan is brand-ambassador for taking ‘U’ turn, says Lokesh

0

Chief Minister, Jagan Mohan Reddy, is the brand-ambassador for taking ‘U’ turn and he has mastered the art of non-fulfilment of promises, said TDP general secretary, Nara Lokesh, on Wednesday.

In a memorandum submitted to Mr Lokesh during his ongoing Yuva Galam pada yatra, the Etikoppaka Sugar Factory workers said that the payment of their salaries for the past 16 months has been pending. During his pada yatra on August 22, 2018, Jagan promised them that he would save the sugar factory and also come to their rescue but after coming to power he is totally neglecting the workers, they informed Lokesh.

Briefing about the background of the sugar factory, the workers told Lokesh that the unit at Etikoppaka was the first sugar factory in Asia launched under the cooperative sector. The company that began with 20 employees raised to the level of providing employment to 5,600 persons by 2004 but after that the sugar production started falling for various reasons.

Recalling that when Chandrababu Naidu was the chief minister he released Rs 27 cr as assistance for the factory but after the chairman system has come into effect the management is showing only losses but not profits. This is the reason they have not been paid their salaries for the past 16 months, they told Lokesh.

Responding to their problems, the TDP national general secretary said that Jagan who promised to reopen all the closed sugar factories after he came to power did not make any attempt to reopen even a single factory. He is thus a master in taking ‘U’ turn, Lokesh said and promised them that immediately after the TDP forms the coming government all the dues of the employees will be cleared. “I am assuring you all that the factory will certainly get the past glory once the TDP is in power again,” Lokesh said.

At Saripallipalem of Payakaraopeta Assembly segment, when the fishermen community said that the local officials are not issuing death certificates to those who die during fishing in the sea and also no compensation is being paid to them for the loss of boats in natural disasters, Lokesh said that it is the TDP that always strived for their welfare. The YSRCP is doing great injustice to the fishermen community, he said and pointed out that Rs 788.38 cr was released during the TDP regime for the welfare of fishermen. Lokesh said that soon after the TDP is back in power in the coming elections all their issues will be resolved on a war-footing basis.

Lokesh also promised the coir industry workers to take up their problems by the coming TDP government and the coir industry will be given recognition as a cottage industry. Also, steps will be taken to give concessions in power charges, he told coir industry workers when they met him at Konavaipalem.

In an interaction with representatives of the Backward Classes (BCs) at Penugollu, Lokesh said Jagan, who termed the BCs as his backbone, has hit the community in the back after becoming the Chief Minister. Stating that the TDP is known for working for the welfare of the BCs, Lokesh said it is only the TDP that can do justice to the community.

When the community representatives brought to his notice various problems that they are facing, Lokesh said that the TDP has created reservations for them in local bodies and it is Chandrababu as the chief minister of the State implemented the Aadarana scheme for their welfare. Several focal postings are given for BCs by the TDP while Jagan has cheated the community by saying ‘my BCs and my SCs’, he remarked.

The Naval Base displaced of Bangarammapalem and Kapula Vathada of S Rayavaram mandal wanted their problems to be solve by the next TDP government, Lokesh promised them that immediately after the TDP forms the coming government talks will be held with Navy to see to it that fishermen will not face any difficulties. All the basic facilities will be provided to them, including setting up a primary health centre and proper compensation will be paid for the displaced.

In a statement released from his campsite before beginning his Yuva Galam pada yatra for the 217th day on Saturday, Lokesh said that Jagan totally neglected the irrigation projects as he is busy looting the State. Leave alone constructing new irrigation projects, the Chief Minister did not bother about the management of the existing ones, Lokesh remarked.

The condition of the administration is so bad that the second gate of the Gundlakamma project got damaged since the Government has not released funds even to apply grease to it while the third gate of the project was washed away, Lokesh noted. This resulted in the wastage of water on a massive scale, he said in the statement.

Lokesh asked if there is any need for a red carpet for a leader who visits the cyclone-hit areas to meet the farmers and what is the necessity for barricades when the Chief Minister visits the farmers who suffered huge loss due to the cyclone. This is called insanity Jagan, he said.

When the hatcheries owners wanted urgent measures to save their hatcheries from the industries to be built in the SEZ area and also raised the problems that they are facing, Lokesh regretted that because of the ‘J’ tax in the Jagan Mohan Reddy Government aquaculture is pushed into a crisis. During the TDP regime aquaculture in the State was taken to the top level in the country, he said, adding that now the farmers are in total debts as the prices of seed, feed and power charges are skyrocketing.

Immediately after the TDP is back in power special measures will be initiated to save the aqua farmers and hatcheries, Lokesh said. Power will be supplied to them at Rs 1.50 per unit, he said and promised to take measures to create a suitable atmosphere for hatcheries.

Lokesh’s pada yatra entered the Tuni Assembly segment and at the GMR Hospital centre he interacted with fishermen community representatives. They informed Lokesh that facilities like financial assistance during the haunting break and the compensation to those who die during haunting which were available during the TDP regime are now withdrawn. Also boats, nets and other material which was supplied on hgh subsidy when the TDP was in power also are totally stopped, they told Lokesh.

Observing that fishermen strive hard and always remember those who extend any kind of help to them, Lokesh said Andhra Pradesh was quite popular for fishing when Chandrababu Naidu was the chief minister, now the State turned to finish Andhra Pradesh. Recalling that Rs 800 cr assistance was extended to the fishermen in the shape of subsidy during the TDP regime, Lokesh promised to revive all the benefits that were available in the past.

Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy thanked his Andhra Pradesh counterpart Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy for his greetings to him on assuming charge. Jagan Mohan Reddy sent greetings to Revanth Reddy and his team of ministers through social media on Thursday.

After assuming the office, Revanth Reddy posted in the social media thanking Jagan Mohan Reddy for his good wishes. He further said that as a brotherly Telugu state, he was looking forward to a healthy relationship with Andhra Pradesh.

The Telangana chief minister also said that he was looking for a healthy relationship with all other states along with Andhra Pradesh. He wanted other states including Andhra Pradesh to help Telangana develop as a fast state.

Revanth Reddy assumed charge as the chief minister in L B Stadium on Thursday. Governor Tamilasi Soundarajan administered the oath to Revanth Reddy and 11 other ministers.

Later, Revanth Reddy visited the secretariat and took the charge as the chief minister. He also chaired the cabinet meeting in the evening and took the decision to implement all his electoral promises. He allocated portfolios to the 11 cabinet colleagues.

Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are yet to settle several issues related to the AP Reorganisation Act 2014. Schedule IX and X institutions are to be settled and the bank accounts are to be settled between the two Telugu states.

Former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and Jagan Mohan Reddy held talks once in the last five years, but nothing had happened. The Union Home Ministry also held four rounds of meetings with the officials of the two Telugu states in the past. But there was no breakthrough yet.

It is to be seen how best both Jagan Mohan Reddy and Revanth Reddy would sort out these issues in the days to come. However, there would not be any meeting between the two chief ministers before Andhra Pradesh goes for general election in 2024.

Jagan miserably failed to take preventive measures on Michaung cyclone, says Yanamala

0

TDP politburo member and Leader of Opposition in the State Legislative Council, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, on Wednesday said that Chief Minister, Jagan Mohan Reddy, has miserably failed in taking the preventive measures to overcome the cyclone effect on the State.

Though the standing crop got damaged in lakhs of acres due to the ongoing storm the Chief Minister did not come out of his Tadepalle palace, Ramakrishnudu said in a press note released here. Despite enough caution for almost a week before the cyclone hit the State, Jagan did not alert the official circles and did not supply even food, water and other essentials to the affected people, he added.

Jagan simply washed off his hands by simply conducting a routine review meeting, the TDP politburo member said and expressed serious concern that the people in the cyclone-hit areas are spending time under constant fear. Neither the Minister for Agriculture nor the Minister for Irrigation is worried about the problems being faced by the farmers due to the cyclonic storm, he felt.

Regretting that standing crop in lakhs of acres in the State is affected by the Michaung cyclone, Ramakrishnudu said and stated that as per the preliminary estimates farm products to the tune of Rs 7,000 cr are damaged. The farmers, particularly the paddy cultivators, are in deep distress while tobacco, cotton, chilli, ground-nut and other crops too got totally damaged due to the cyclone in at least eight districts in the State, the TDP politburo member said.

The inefficiency of the Jagan Government reflects from the fact that only a single packet of food is supplied to every family in the flood-hit areas while no efforts have been taken in many places to shift the cyclone-hit to the rehabilitation centres. Even power was not restored and tarpaulins and gunny bags too are not supplied to the farmers, he added.

Instead of alerting people from village to State level, Jagan is taking rest at his palace throwing the people in the lurch. Ramakrishnudu demanded that the State Government at least get alerted now to come to the rescue of the affected people and pay necessary compensation for those who suffered crop loss. The Government should purchase the damaged farm products, he added.

Jagan promises full support to cyclone hit farmers

0

Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday promised total support to the farmers who were hit by the cyclone. He told them that the government would come to their rescue and pay compensation at the earliest.

He held a review meeting with the officials at his Tadepalli camp office on the day. He reviewed the relief measures in the cyclone-affected districts with District Collectors and SPs through video conference and directed the officials to work on a compassionate approach.

“The cyclone has now weakened, and all the authorities should focus on bringing normal conditions in your respective areas. Be sympathetic to the affected people, put yourselves in their shoes and work on their needs. Assistance should be given to people who are returning from camps, and there should be no defect in distribution of ration.”

He also directed them to remove water from the crop fields and said that the government stands by the farmers. From crop protection, purchase of stained grain and discoloured grain to the supply of seeds on 80 percent subsidy, everything has to be provided to the farmers.

“Electricity should be restored on war footing mode. Further, immediate steps should be taken to repair roads in areas damaged by the cyclone and facilitate the resumption of transportation services. As a priority, focus on sanitation to avoid disease spread in rainfed areas,” said the Chief Minister.

He also informed that the government would support the family of the constable from Kadapa, who lost his life after a tree fell on him during the rescue hours. “A financial ex gratia of Rs.30 lakhs will be provided to support the family during this difficult time,” said the Chief Minister.

Give relief to every family, Jagan tells officials

0

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy instructed the District Collectors, SPs and officials of various departments to be on high alert for taking up relief measures in wake of the likely landfall of Cyclone Michaung near Bapatla coast.

In a virtual review meeting with officials from his Tadepalli camp office on Monday, the Chief Minister told them to treat the cyclone as a major challenge and take necessary steps to avoid loss of life and property as the cyclonic winds are expected to blow at a speed of over 110 km.

The Collectors of Tirupati, SPSR Nellore, Prakasam, Bapatla, Krishna, West Godavari, Dr BR Ambedkar Konaseema and Kakinada districts explained the relief and rescue preparedness in their respective districts. The Chief Minister said that special officers have been appointed for all cyclone affected districts besides releasing Rs. 2 crore each for rescue and relief works.

The special officers will work in close coordination with the Collectors and if more funds are needed, the Government will comply with the request, he said, adding that Collectors can seek any other support forthwith.

As the official machinery has the experience of tackling cyclones like Hudhud, it should gear up in advance and take measures on war-footing to avoid loss of human lives and livestock. The official machinery should avail the services of village and ward secretariat staff and volunteers in relief and rescue operations, he said.

If the civic amenities like drinking water, food and power supply are adversely affected in any area, they should be restored immediately in saturation mode in all affected areas, he said.

The Chief Minister told them that he would visit the affected places and there should be no complaints from any section of people on the relief measures taken by the Collectors.

He also directed them to provide all necessary essentials like drinking water and food to the victims besides ensuring proper sanitation in relief camps to avoid health hazards.

When the victims leave the relief camps, Rs. 1000 and Rs. 2500 should be given to individuals and families each respectively, he said, adding that 25 kg of rice and essentials of red gram, palm oil, potato and onions of 1kg each should be given to people whose houses are submerged.

If pucca and thatched houses are damaged in the cyclone, they should be compensated with Rs 10,000 each, he said,

When the officials said that 97,000 tons of paddy have been procured and 6.5 lakh tons of paddy have been shifted to safer places in the view of the cyclone, he said that all types of discoloured and wet paddy also should be procured to avoid Kharif crop loss to farmers and added that officials should educate the farmers on safeguarding the crop that is not yet harvested.

In the present difficult times, officials should stand by the famers and extend all possible help with humanity, he told them, suggesting that enumeration of crop loss should be done when the cyclone effect recedes.

When the officials said that five NDRF and five SDRF teams are deployed in vulnerable areas and out of the required 308 camps, 181 relief camps have been opened and people are being shifted from vulnerable areas, the Chief Minister said that steps should be taken to open the rest of the camps also.

Officials should also be ready to attend to emergency services like shifting pregnant women, lactating mothers and the aged to hospitals for necessary medical treatment, he said.
