Prabhas and Nag Ashwin film Updates

Young Rebelstar Prabhas is shooting for Adipurush and Salaar currently. The shoots of both these films came to a halt due to the second wave of coronavirus. Prabhas was keen to wrap up the shoots of both these projects at the earliest. Adipurush needs almost a year for the post-production work as the film will be high on VFX work and it would release in 3D. Salaar will be high on action and it will be shot in multiple locations of the country.

Prabhas was keen to take up Nag Ashwin’s project from the second half of the year after he is done with the shoot of Adipurush and Salaar. As per the update, Prabhas’ film with Nag Ashwin got delayed due to the delay in the shoot of his current projects. Nag Ashwin’s film will commence shoot from Diwali after a grand launch. Prabhas will be focused on the project and he allocated the entire 2022 for the film. The movie may hit the screens in 2023 and the release date will be announced soon. Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone will be seen in other important roles in this untitled film.

But when it comes to small films, there should be someone who should push the project forward. Successful director Anil Ravipudi is busy with F3 and he is backing a small film Gaali Sampath. Anish is the director of this comic entertainer and Sree Vishnu, Rajendra Prasad are the lead actors. The film is announced for March 11th release. The film is in news and is hot in trade after Anil Ravipudi joined the project as a presenter and is supervising the direction.

National award winning director Nag Ashwin is backing a comic entertainer Jathi Ratnalu. Naveen Polishetty, Priyadarshi and Rahul Ramakrishna are the lead actors in this film. Jathi Ratnalu too is announced for March 11th release. This would be a wise move for both the directors at this point in their career. Sharwanand’s Sreekaram too is releasing on the same day. Anil Ravipudi and Nag Ashwin are in plans to continue to support such projects if these films end up successful. As of now, both Gaali Sampath and Jathi Ratnalu are carrying decent expectations. Young Rebelstar Prabhas is busy with Radhe Shyam and the project is delayed due to the arrival of coronavirus. Being a periodic drama, the film has to be shot in lavish sets and hence the shoot is put on hold. Prabhas will complete the shoot of Radhe Shyam after which he would shift his focus towards his next film that will be directed by Nag Ashwin. This sci-fi thriller was planned to roll from October this year.

As per the latest news, the project is pushed and it will roll in March or April 2021. With the coronavirus outbreak, Nag Ashwin kept the pre-production work of the film on hold. The film will be made on a budget of Rs 250 crores and massive sets will be erected for the shoot. The set work was planned to start from August but the plans are pushed to next year. C Ashwini Dutt is the producer and this project will release in 2022.

On the eve of the film’s success, the proud mother of Nag Ashwin shared some interesting facts about her son dotingly to a youtube channel.

Jayanthi Reddy, a renowned gynaecologist in the city remembered the childhood moments of Nag Ashwin saying that he was always a happy child reading more books and searching his own path to success since young age. Being born to doctor parents, Nag Ashwin apparently surprised everyone by declaring that he would study English Literature instead of professional course like medicine or engineering. She also said that Nag had creative pursuits since young age and made a brilliant short film as part of his project in degree college. As parents, Nag Ashwin was encouraged to take up New York Film Institute’s cinematography course when he declared to be a film director!

When her mom thought that Nag would go ahead in Hollywood and settle down in USA, he surprised by returning to India and joining as an assistant for ‘Nenu Meeku Telusa’. Coincidentally, Jayanti Reddy is a friend of Sekhar Kammula’s sister and asked Nag to assist the versatile filmmaker. That’s when Nag Ashwin worked for Leader and Life is Beautiful next. It was when Nag Ashwin became friends with Vijay Devarakonda and the rest is history!

After an international award winning short film Yaadon Ki Baarat, Nag Ashwin got the chance to direct Yevade Subrahmanyam. She also said that Nag Ashwin has great clarity of mind because of his meditation and loves to suddenly travel just for the sake of fun. Once, Nag Ashwin was in Kedarnath during the heavy floods and lost contact with his family leading to trouble. Nag Ashwin’s mom recollected that he loves to keep silent for solitude and clear off his mind by either travelling to secluded places or not talking to anyone.

Speaking of Nag Ashwin’s wedding to Priyanka Dutt, Jayanti was quite happy in one way and then became quite concerned too. She was worried about the big reputation of Priyanka Dutt’s high background but when she met Ashwani Dutt’s family, she felt very relieved seeing their down to earth nature.

‘Mahanati’ in Telugu & Nadigaiyar Thilagam in Tamil is about the joy and a celebration of the great ‘Mahanati’ who ruled the hearts of millions then, now and forever. Complementing our choice of Keerthy Suresh for the titular role of Savitri, Vijaya Chamundeswari had expressed it is a huge challenge to play this big role on her young shoulders, I found many qualities in Keerthy that kind of made me feel yes, she can pull it off.

There was so many instances in the set that made not just me but many in the sets believe that Keerthy had mannerisms that strike lot of similarity like Savitri, adds the film maker.

Savitri had immense, diverse talent, a director, playback singer, producer and someone who loved car racing. As a race car driver she won trophies. There are so many such beautiful facets of this actor she deserves to be reminisced today, Writer, Director Nag Ashwin added.

Yesteryear actress Savitri, who is popular with the sobriquet Mahanati, left an indelible mark on South audience. Now, her life history is going to be made as a feature film in Telugu and Tamil. Nag Aswin is the director and the film stars Keerthi Suresh in the titular role.

Being the contemporaries of the legendary actress, the iconic Telugu superstars NTR and ANR will have a considerable relevance in this biopic. However, the makers of Mahanati are in a fix to find actors who can portray these two characters.

Initially, the makers have approached Jr. NTR to play his grandfather’s role. But the actor was absolutely reluctant and has turned down the offer. Now, they have approached Naga Chaitanaya to reprise the role of his grandfather ANR in this biopic.

Close sources revealed that Chaitu is willing to act without any remuneration, but has one condition : he will play ANR only if it is Jr NTR who dons NTR’s role. Producer Aswini Dutt has tried to convince NTR, but he is noncommittal to get into the shoes of his grandfather’s role.

So, they have now approached Nani for NTR’s role. However, it is yet to be known whether Chaitu agrees to come on board or not.The dilemma over NTR and ANR roles is likely to end very soon.

Reportedly, Vijay Devarakonda will be seen in a brief yet crucial role in this film. While Keerthi Suresh will be seen portraying the role of Savitri, Samantha is going to be essaying a journalist’s role. Dulquer Salmaan will play Savitri’s husband in the film.

Young director to marry Ashwini Dutt’s daughter

Young director Nag Ashwin, assistant director to Sekhar Kammula and director of Nani’s Yevade Subramanyam, will tie the nuptial knot with ace producer Aswini Dutt’s daughter Priyanka Dutt. The marriage is likely to take place in December this year. It is learnt that both Ashwin and Priyanka are in love for quite some time now.

Apparently, Nag Ashwin directed a short film Yaadon ki Baraat, which was selected for Cannes Short Films Corner. He then made his debut in Tollywood with Nani’s Yevade Subramanyam. Both these films were produced by Priyanka Dutt.

Priyanka Dutt, having completed filmmaking course in UCLA, made entry as a producer at the age of 21. She co produced Pawan Kalyan’s Balu which released in 2004. She is also the founder of Three Angels Studios, which produced Nara Rohit’s Baanam, Ravi Teja’s Sarocharu and NTR’s Shakthi to new a few.
