Guntur District Joint Collector Dinesh Kumar issued a notice to YCP MLA Undavalli Sridevi to appear before him with proofs of her SC status on November 26 at 3 pm. He asked the Tadikonda MLA to bring documents and her relatives to prove that she belongs the Scheduled Castes category. The JC gave the notice to her after the Election Commission of India (ECI) ordered AP Chief Secretary to begin an official enquiry.

It may be recalled that President Ramnath Kovind ordered the ECI to enquire into the allegations made by the Legal Rights Protection Forum against the misuse of SC reservation by MLA Sridevi. The Forum complained to the President that Sridevi herself admitted to having converted to Christianity. So, she is no longer an Hindu dalit which is why she cannot enjoy SC reservation any longer. But Sridevi gave a false affidavit at the time of her filing nomination in last election and won from the Tadikonda SC reserved constituency in Guntur district.

Political circles are full of rumours that Sridevi’s excessive misuse of her SC status has caused her to lose sympathy of her own community associations. Moreover, the Modi government at the Centre is also very unhappy against Jagan Reddy Circar over gross misuse of SC, ST Atrocities cases against Opposition leaders. Such atrocities cases were also filed against former Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao who eventually committed suicide.

YCP Boss and CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy has already put restrictions on the activities of his party MPs. His government has begun English medium in government schools despite all-round criticism from Opposition parties. At such a time, instead of toeing party line, YCP MP Raghurama Raju has spoken in favor of protecting Mother Tongue in the Lok Sabha. To underscore this, he posed a question in Telugu medium in the House. This was Raju’s supplementary to the main question asked by TDP MP Kesineni Nani protesting against removal of Telugu medium in AP schools.

Moreover, Raghurama Raju appealed to the Centre to make all necessary steps to protect regional languages as per the Articles 350 and 350a of the Constitution. Of these, Article 350 clearly mentions the need for promoting primary education in mother tongue to protect the rights of the children. This is provided in the Constitution as school education given in a foreign language will prove difficult for the children and their parents.

There are many challenges and limitations for teaching English medium in schools. But still Jagan Reddy is adamant even as opposition parties are stepping up their agitation at the state and national levels.

The YCP used caste factor to successfully isolate and defeat the previous Chandrababu Naidu government. Now the ruling party began using the same caste factor to isolate Pawan Kalyan among his own Kapu community. YCP Minister Avanti Srinivas, who is also a Kapu by caste, is forced by the YCP coterie to make a caste-based attack on Jana Senani.

The roaring success of Vizag Long March has worried the government greatly. To overcome its impact, Minister Avanti has made shocking comments saying that Pawan Kalyan is behaving as if he is the only leader representing the Kapus. Avanti hit back at Pawan’s statement saying that YCP MP Vijayasai Reddy is the only MP who is fighting for AP rights effectively in Rajya Sabha.

Why is YCP giving caste colour to Pawan political activities? Analysts say that CM Jagan’s main target is to tarnish Pawan image among the BCs and non-Kapu youth. This can be achieved only if Pawan’s influence is limited to just Kapus alone. Already, BJP is criticising Jagan for encouraging conversions among BCs to dominate Andhra electoral politics forever with YSR family’s undisputed monopoly on Christian and Reddy votebanks.

The Jaganmohan Reddy government has begun defending itself on the GO 2430 in the face of mounting protests from the media and the opposition parties. It is giving indications of the ruling party’s readiness for a showdown with the journalists associations. Ministers Perni Nani and Kodali Nani asked the media to explain to them what’s wrong with the GO.

Interestingly, the Ministers posed this question at a media conference. The journalists leaders have held protests through the day during the AP Formation Day celebrations. The government is apparently shaken at the harsh reaction of the national media.

The Ministers tried to explain that the GO is just intended to issue rejoinders to the journalists who write stories deliberately to tarnish the government’s image. The Ministers argue that the false media reports are hurting the morale of the officials. This is creating hurdles for the government to effectively plan and bring in development. But the journalists argue that the GO is not necessary as the officials can always issue rejoinders. Jana Senani Pawan Kalyan opposed the GO as this will rob the journalists of their freedom of expression.

Quite unexpectedly, AP Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy is facing stiff opposition to his online sand policy from his own party leaders. However, most ruling party leaders are preferring to be silent because of Jagan fear. But Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy has openly expressed his displeasure and disappointment against the government. Known for many controversies, Kotamreddy has embarrassed Jagan by saying that a new online sand mafia has taken control ever since there is a change of government in the state.

Kotamreddy’s statements are giving big strength to TDP and Jana Sena. These parties are already agitating against Jagan’s failure to recreate jobs for construction workers. At such a time, the YCP leaders are in utter confusion as to what is happening in their party as their own MLA is making serious remarks.
Is Kotamreddy taking a calculated risk by openly opposing Jagan. A few weeks ago, CM himself called and told Kotamrreddy not to create problems for other party leaders in Nellore district. Still, the MLA is continuing to rebel. What more, he accused Sarvepalli MLA Kakani Govardhan Reddy’s followers of robbing sand from Pottepalem reach. Analysts say that Kotamreddy may be having a clear political strategy behind all this.

Ruling party Tuni MLA Dadisetti Raja is eventually accused of conspiring and murdering Andhra Jyoti journalist Katha Satyanarayana in East Godavari district. In a very casual manner, the police filed the murder case even as the MLA also took it very lightly. The ruling party leaders and MLAs are least bothered about the police cases since no serious action will be there.

The journalist murder took place near S Annavaram Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tuni mandal. It was an open secret in the district that MLA Raja would be involved in the murder. It was because his followers are long harassing and threatening the journalist for writing negative stories in his paper. The local public are wondering how the YCP MLA indulged in many excesses and lost his patience within five months of his party rule.

There has been serious public backlash against the murder. This is first such case in several decades. TDP boss Chandrababu Naidu has expressed concern that CM Jaganmohan Reddy has converted Andhras into another Bihar state which is notorious for violence and lawlessness. Even Jana Senani Pawan Kalyan has wondered whether he is seeing Andhra Pradesh or some other state.
